    @v.2

Hi everyone and welcome to the S82 VHL trade deadline recap! Here we’ll review all the trades made leading up to the deadline and what they could mean for both teams involved. While you’re here please check out some of the other recent VSN articles below.

S82 VHL Awards Race | The Talents Behind the Trophies: the Aidan Shaw Trophy

    HC Davos Receives:
    S84 SEA 3rd

    Seattle Receives:
    Kunibuni UnGuri @Berocka

This trade really benefits Seattle in the short term giving them a top goalie in the league for their playoff run this season. With Davos, UnGuri had 14 wins, a 0.921 SV%, and a 3.22 GAA in 36 games. Since the trade they have had 4 wins, a 0.906 SV% and a 3.62 GAA in 7 starts. For Davos this trade lets them add a draft pick for the highly anticipated S84 VHL draft for a player that is retiring following this season.

    Helsinki Receives:
    Jolly Greene Giant @DoktorFunk
    S83 LAS 3rd
    S84 RIG 1st
    S84 RIG 2nd

    Riga Receives:
    Alex Johnston @Alex

The biggest trade leading up to the deadline saw Riga acquire a former 63 goal-scorer for a consistent roster player in Giant and a lot of future draft picks. In 50 games with Helsinki this season Johnston had 30 goals and 39 assists for 69 points. Additionally Johnston also had 414 shots and 231 hits. Jolly Greene Giant was having a solid season for Riag as well prior to the trade with 13 goals and 20 assists for 33 points in 50 games played. The draft picks do set Helsinki up to have a bright future and they could very well be traded to another team as Helsinki may look to make a playoff push soon.

    Prague Receives:
    Tynan Slyvester @diamond_ace

    Warsaw Receives:
    Barron Kruulenstien @LefLop
    S84 PRG 2nd

This trade saw two European Conference teams switching defensemen and signals that Warsaw is potentially admitting that they will be missing the playoffs this season as they now sit 5 points back of Malmo. Slyvester was having a good season for Warsaw as they had 13 goals and 27 assists for 40 points in 50 games played, Slyvester also blocked 151 shots for Warsaw this season and currently sits 10th in the league in blocked shots with 155. Kruulenstein on the other hand had 27 points and 108 shots blocked this season for Prague in 49 games. In this trade Prague received another defensemen that will be crucial to them in their upcoming playoff run and Warsaw will now have another 2nd round pick in the S84 draft and have gained a solid defensemen for next season.

    New York Receives:
    S83 LAS 1st

    Los Angeles Receives:
    Tavish DeGroot @rory

This trade felt inevitable, coming as no surprise for many in the VHL community. DeGroot is one of the top young defensemen in the league and in return New York received a likely late first round pick in the S83 draft. With New York this season DeGroot has 20 goals and 19 assists, 200 hits, and 146 blocked shots in 52 games. Long Term this trade will surely pay dividends for Los Angeles as Tavish DeGroot is still one of the top players from the S82 VHL draft.

    HC Davos Receives:
    Arvid Johansson @Gwdjohnson
    S83 LDN 4th

    London Receives:
    Cabe McJake @Red

This trade is a win for both teams as Davos was able to get a defensemen for next season and a late draft pick for a player that is set to retire following this season. London received a solid defensemen that will surely help them during their upcoming playoff run. This season McJake has 25 goals and 49 points in 54 games this season for Davos. Johansson has had a solid season for London as well with 25 points in 54 games played.

Thank you for tuning into this season’s VHL trade deadline recap! Who do you think won each trade? Let us know in the comments below!

    Scotty Campbell (MVP):
Similarly to previous seasons the MVP race is down to about 3 players right now, each of whom is a major reason why their team has had it’s success this season. First and foremost Dan Dan has been a force for Los Angeles this season and currently leads the league in all major offensive categories. Right behind him in the scoring race sits Jerome Reinhart and Taro Tsujimoto, both of whom could have a considerable case for the accolade come season’s end. At this point it’s hard not to say that Dan Dan is deserving of the award, although either Reinhart or Tsujimoto could snatch the award at any given moment.

    Brett Slobodzian (Most outstanding):
Similar to the previous award any player could run away with this award at any given moment. At this moment it’s hard not to say that Dan Dan is the favourite as they currently lead the league in points, assists, and goals. In previous seasons this award has usually gone to the league's leading scorer and with that if Reinhart or Tsujimoto can catch him the award could be theirs for the taking.

    Sterling Labatte (Top Defensemen):
All the defensive awards are a very close race right now and could very well go any way. This season Battre Sandstrom @Acydburn is the likely favourite right now given their defensive play relative to the other top scorers as they are a part of a 3-way tie for first in defensive scoring with Tui Sova @v.2 and Robin Galante Nilsson, with Jannik Nylen only 1 point behind. Sandstrom currently has 172 hits and 112 blocked shots. Considerably more than a majority of the top defensive scorers. Other players in the race include Hard Markinsson @STZ, Tom Eagles @Greg_Di, Corey Kitson @Nykonax, and Kristof Welch @Juice.

    Alexander Valiq (Offensive Defensemen):
As explained in the previous award, this award is a very close race that there’s no clear front runner at the moment with a 3-tie at 77 points for the lead in scoring between Sandstrom, Sova, and Nilsson. Nylen also sits 1 point back and Eagles and Kitson are at 73 points each, making this a very interesting race that we may not know the results of until the awards presentation following the season.

    Jake Wylde (Defensive Defensemen):
The Jake Wylde award is likely one of the most subjective awards for VHL players as it goes to the best defensive defensemen. In contrast to previous seasons some of the best defensive defensemen in the league have also been producing offensively. Currently Tom Eagles has been a force of Calgary’s blueline and currently sits 5th in blocked shots with 167 and has 136 hits. Poopy Peepants @JardyB10 has also been stellar defensively with 220 hits and 95 blocked shots. Additionally, Hard Markinsson looks like they could take the award home with 183 hits and 133 shots blocked. Other players in the race are Chicken Wing @chikn, Tui Sova, Ryan Vidot @Enorama, and Battre Sandstrom.

    Aiden Shaw (Top Goalie):
The Aiden Shaw award recognizes the top goalie in the league every season and with that it is always an interesting race to watch. Currently Thadius Sales appears to be the favourite here as they currently lead starting goalies in wins (40), save percentage (0.927%), GAA (2.84) and shutouts (3). Right behind him in every category sits Rara Rasputin who has been a major reason for Los Angeles success this season. Rasputin has 33 wins, a SV% of 0.923%, and a GAA of 3.04. There are a couple of other players who are close behind them in Cole Pearce @N0HBDY, and Sirkants Klamasteris. Although at this point it’s pretty well down to Sales and Rasputin.

    Christian Stolzschweiger (top Rookie):
At this point in the season the award for the top rookie is as close as they can get with three notable rookies battling it out. This award will end up going to a player that plays for London with Matt Avens leading all rookies in points with 89 and their teammate Nils Godlander @Moon only 5 points behind at 84. The current favourite comes with London’s goaltender, Cole Pearce. Pearce is currently 3rd in wins with 30 and also has a 0.912 SV% and a 3.48 GAA. Another player who may find themselves on the outside looking in is Zaza Colors @McWolf and the two highest scoring non-London rookies Florida Man @zepheter (69 points) and former first overall pick Vasile Lamb @dlamb with 62 points.

Scott Boulet (Top two way forward):
The Scott Boulet award is given to the top two-way forward every season and with that Duncan Idaho @OrbitingDeath  (7) is coming off of their second consecutive Boulet Trophy. This season once again looks to be Idaho’s to take home with him being the standout two-way forward by a wide margin as no other player that is in the top-10 in hits even comes close to Idaho in scoring as they currently have 88 points. The next closest is Taylor Mourning @scoop with 78 points and 230 hits, followed by Alex Johnston @Alex with 69 points and 231 hits. At this point the Boulet is Idaho’s to lose and we are expecting to see Idaho continue the trend started by Mikko Lahtinen @Beketov and Groovy Dood @bigAL as they both completed the three-peat of Boulet Trophies.

    David Knight (top GM):
The David Knight Award is presented to the top GM in the league, as of right now it appears that it is likely going to end up in the hands of @McWolf , the London GM might have finally struck gold as London leads the European conference by 5 points and it appears that his seasons of patience and drafting well have paid off as London might be set to win their first playoff series ever. There are several other GMs who will likely be nominated and could just as easily win the award with @hedgehog337, the Riga GM, and @Acydburn, the Prague GM.

    Dustin Funk (Most improved):
The final award we’ll look at today is the Dustin Funk Award, this award is given to the player who shows the greatest amount of improvement and as expected had more players be predicted to win it than any other award. Surprisingly only 3 names were brought forward by VSN members and those were Dan Dan, Joe Madison @samx, and Jannik Nylen. Of the players listed, both Dan Dan and Jannik Nylen have easily surpassed their previous career highs.

Thank you for reading and stay tuned as we watch how these races develop throughout the season! Best of luck to everyone in the race!

Not "best games", but favorite games

NHL 09 - NHL 22: EASHL (specifically clubs and since NHL 21 6v6 organized leagues, introduced to me by @Squidward) - I don't play offline, versus, or HUT
COD MW2 - put so much time into this game after high school, played with family
Age of Empires 2 - Never got into online because I'm not good enough at RTS games for it, but I started playing this game in elementary school and have played it off and on since
Football Manager - Generally buy a new one every two years
League of Legends - Have played off and on for 11 years now, gave up on ranked years ago but still fun to play with friends
James Bond Nightfire - This applies to a ton of games, but the experience of splitscreen vs. everyone playing online together is 100% different. Nothing like screen-looking, accusing others of screen-looking, etc...
Pokemon - Not going to throw in specific titles, but just an iconic game
Halo 3 - Again, iconic, very fun to play with friends, but not a game I was very good at
Rock Band - Tons of great memories playing this with friends and family
Madden - iconic series that has just fallen off a cliff every since they removed the vision cone for QBs, was a huge shift from realism to arcade mode
MVP Baseball 05 - top top notch game for it's time.

This is my notice to the league.

I am stepping down from my role as a VHL GM at the conclusion of Toronto's season (prior to the VHL Entry Draft).

Over the last few months my interest in the Victory Hockey League has taken a steep nose dive, and as a whole I've found myself growing more irritated with the league recently; it has become a chore to login. It's not fair to those on the Toronto Legion, the league or aspiring VHLM & VHLE GMs/the GM wishful that a sitting VHL GM struggles to visits the forum beyond seeing sim results, engaging in minor trades and rarely reading threads. As the GM of Toronto I had massive plans for the second rebuild I had put the team through, I had doubled down on my scouting and was drafting members I thought would be a good fit within our developing locker room. Normally I think someone here would say something along the lines of how they feel bad the Legion weren't in a position to compete, but I'll be leaving my replacement with what I consider a decent young roster.

    Continuing on:

I've come to terms with myself on numerous subjects; as I get older I've noticed I have less personal patience with people, which can absolutely be attributed to the daily stresses I've had [and continue] to endure over the last couple of years and the mental pressure of those stresses; I lack the tact to deal with people and the drama -- innocent or not -- that comes with the territory of being a general manager; and frankly I'm an older soul who has more controversial opinions on the practices and strategies within the VHL.

History will remember me as a mediocre GM with no accomplishments, I accept that, but at least I'll step away with my integrity intact (and the S69 Saskatoon Wild).

    Take care everyone,

    - Peace

    (To whom it may concern,

Doomsday was hired as my AGM recently, we all know he's a great person and has GM experience with the VHL. I'd like to recommend him for the position if he'd like it, but I understand that decision is not mine to make.)

    1. Story about our boat
    2. [redacted]
    3. Dish washing pet peeves
    4. Unbreakable Internet rant
    5. My crazy tongue and fingers
    6. Jardy's toppest goofiest moments
    7. Horror stories about smells
    8. HOTTEST CELEBRITIES 🔥
    9. Which body part I could do without

Additionally at 24:30 I talk about the JST Commissioner change and mention @Ricer13 and @samx as a result while also briefly mentioning @Alex and @Dom. Also I tell @Spartan to quit his job.

    At 27:20 I mention @Arce briefly.

    Enjoy?

Hi everyone, and welcome to the season 82 VHL All-Star Skills Competition. The 4 events are fastest skater, save streak, hardest shot, and all-around (I couldn't think of a better name). The participants for each event were chosen randomly. For reference and transparency reasons a link to calculations will be included at the end. Also thank you to @Ricer13 and @SpicyGecko for all the graphics!

The fastest skater competition is a test of pure speed as player race to complete 1 lap of the ice surface, the results for this season are...

In the save streak shooters from 1 conference take turns going 1-on-1 with the other conferences goaltenders, a streak can be started at any point, however once a goal is scored after 1 full rotation of players it concludes your attempt. The results for this seasons save streak are...

The best test of shooting possible, in this event each player recieved 3 attempts to put up the fastest shot possible, with only their best counting, and the winner is...

In our final event of the night players have to hit 4 targets with a pass from the far goalline, then skate a lap with a puck before taking a penalty shot on our guest goalie, β-CHI G. For the passing each player got a max of 8 attempts and if they had any targets left received a 5 second penalty (each pass takes 3 seconds), additionally for the penalty shot(s) each attempt takes 5 seconds.
Without further ado the winner of this way too overcomplicated event is...

That concludes our skills competition for season 82! Stay tuned for tomorrow for when the conferences go head to head, and for when our two prospect rosters take the ice!
