    @Members

Normally this would just go to the ban thread but given the circumstances I think it's best that everyone know what's going on.

It has unfortunately come to the attention of myself and @Acydburn that @Josh has been embezzling league funds for his own purposes. Via his access to the league PayPal he was stripping donation funds as payments for portal, forum, and domain hosting with amounts far higher than were actually needed. Because the line items were things he was paying for we had no reason, for a number of years, to think anything of it and were unaware that the costs were actually far less than what he was reimbursing himself which amounts to potentially thousands of dollars; we're still working out the total figures.

Obviously we are completely shocked at this behaviour and have immediately stripped Josh of his role as commissioner pending potential future legal action. We have always held firm that the league funds are used exclusively on league related activities so I am quite frankly pissed that a member of the blue team would take donation money for their own uses; whatever his excuses may be. Please be aware that we will be launching a further investigation and audit of all our costs and funds to be sure that no one else has done anything of the sort in the past.

    Sincerely,
    @Commissioner

Edit: In case any future people see the is and don’t see the date; it was purely an April Fool’s joke, Josh was in on it (in fact it was his idea) and the donation money is not only safe but audited.

    That concludes the calculating!
Now we can get on with the speculation and talking about the stats!
    So to recap
The Highest total points goes to New York Americans with 379, The Single highest point goes to WWWWWWWWWWWW WWWWWWWWWWWW with 96! (Absurd), and the least points goes to Mina with 6!
The highest average also goes to New York unsurprisingly! Now if we look at some other teams with high averages we can see that Davos with 31.5 is up there in second place! Although they only have 189 total points (the second least) their roster size makes up for that puts them firmly in 2nd place with average.
So what does this all mean, I can hear you ask. Well nothing to be honest, this is just something I thought would be funny to do and did it. I will be doing one for E and M combined later since this is already 1000 words long!
    See you then!

I've been wanting this for years. A counter on a players update page on howmuch capped they've done per week (example included). It's easy to count to 12 but it would be helpful for a quick glance to make sure you've hit 12/12 per week, and very helpful for drafting to see howmuch players are earning across a couple week/month scale.

comrade cat reacted to tcookie in Rave Progresses Well in Rookie Season
Phillip Rave and the rest of the Malmo Nighthawks cleaned out their lockers early amidst harsh playoff disappointment this season, but from a personal standpoint, there were plenty of positives to take away from the season, even if Rave wasn’t feeling up to talking about them in the aftermath of their playoff elimination.

The rookie forward – a natural centre who spent the year on the wing to help ease his transition to the VHL – started the season with 18 points in his first 42 games, before putting up 23 points in the final 30 games to finish his rookie year with 41. Rave found the scoresheet with a pair of playoff tallies, too, both in a 3-2 overtime loss in Game 2 of the series.

His game as a whole came a long way over the course of the season, with noticeable improvements across the board, and Rave intends to spend the off-season working hard off the ice to improve his strength and skating. From putting up 13 points over an entire VHLE season in Cologne to a 41-point rookie campaign in the VHL, Rave clearly took massive strides in his development in S92. Some scouting agencies predict that Rave, originally picked 17th overall in the S91 draft, would rise into the top half of the first round in an S91 re-draft.

The Nighthawks are hoping to see this level of progression from Rave continue over the next few seasons of his career. Breakout seasons from their young, upcoming forwards like Rave, Savaisk Tzesar and Ronald Johnson MacWallace III could go a long way in turning this season’s disappointment into next season’s celebration.

Game recap of Seattle Bears vs. Prague Phantoms game 52

With a quick swoop Prague scores two goals making it a 2-0 game right off the start one both from Nikolas Kauppi with Seattle doing nothing about it. But the next period hits and Prague scores again and it's from Nikolas Kauppi getting him a hat trick in just two periods! and the other goal was from Fred Hampton making it 4-0 but Seattle wasn't going to let that slide and scored two goals of their own making it 4-2 one from Steve Lattimer and another from Jack The Ripper. Third comes and Seattle sadly gets scored on again by Fred Hampton sealing their fate this game and making it 5-2 a big win for Prague. First star Nikolas Kauppi Second Star Velociraptor Greg Third Star Fred Hampton.

comrade cat got a reaction from KaleebtheMighty in Savaisk Tzesar training camp media talk
As everyone get's into training camp and players are going back into shape for the season the media wanted to ask Tzesar his thoughts on his own team Malmo Nighthawks.

"Tzesar last season truly showed how good you were and how good you could be in the future and with your hard training do you think you will have a big impact on the league?"

"I mean if you think about it of course I've hadn't done much per say but I helped Malmo achieve a victory cup of course we didn't make it far in the playoffs but I help lead a team to something and that's an impact now hopefully I can do much more like win a few awards. And at the end of the day I just want my number retired sadly my father failed to do so back in his prime with Malmo but I will try my dear hardest for it to happen"

"Actually speaking about retired numbers what number do you want retired?"

"54 used to be my dads number from start to finish so I plan to carry it on and actually complete that and retired the number in Malmo and since he played during a time of surging goalies who couldn't be stopped. By far means I'm not insulting him at all but he was in a time where his greatness was overshadowed now I think I have an actual crack at it with the rest of my career ahead of me and with my recent improvements I don't plan on stopping and I want to continue learning and progressing into a solid player. Malmo is also counting on me to be greater so I have to."

"With the lost of amish and eagles do you still believe Malmo has chances of playoffs?"

"Of course! I know it's sad seeing them leave us but Malmo was good because of depth we still have plenty of future stars like Philp rave Rjmw and Viktor Jensen is already considered a star. While also keeping Ash Sparks who may be older but still has the reaction time of a fly we still have a really good core of player's and we probably won't be winning the victory cup but I can see us in the playoffs."

"With the season coming up in a few weeks what are your personal goals that you want to happen in season 93?"

"With S92 ending with only 59 points it's a bit of a let down but what was very shocking and promising was how fast I scored I even had my first hat trick which was an amazing feeling but my goal is to reach 75 points with hitting top 10 in hits and shots"

"Well exciting to see even through hardships you continue to thrive and some teams will see how you do and perform we wish you luck out there Tzesar!"

As the media walks away the thing Tzesar can think about is how to continue this surge of energy and the will to continue this but he is damn sure going to go all out.

comrade cat reacted to tcookie in Nighthawks Will Run it Back in S93
Despite a disappointing playoff run, the Malmo Nighthawks appear poised to more-or-less run it back next season after claiming the Victory Cup in S92. They did say goodbye to defenseman Jebediah Big ol Doinks in Amish, completing a pair of off-season trades that saw him head to New York and in return, defenseman Eric Queefson come in from Los Angeles.

The Nighthawks will be banking on improvement from young players like third-year pros Savaisk Tzesar and Ronald Johnson MacWallace III, as well as second-year Phillip Rave, while last season's leading scorer Viktor Jensen is seeking a breakout year after threatening to post 100 points last season. With minimal changes, the Nighthawks believe they can contend for a repeat Victory Cup win and a more successful playoff run this time around.

In the S93 draft, the Nighthawks spent their first round pick on a goalie once again, searching for their netminder of the future once Ash Sparks retires. They selected Jorgen Lovstrom, who went 48-8-4 with a .918 SV% for the Philadelphia Reapers last season. Lovstrom was the top goalie prospect available in the S93 draft. In the later rounds, the Nighthawks picked up forward prospects Ocean Codoller and Caleb Nowell, who both have shown some progression over the course of their S92 VHLM seasons and if that continues, both could play in the VHL in a couple of seasons.

comrade cat reacted to Beketov in Minor Changes going into S93
    Hello VHL,

Not even gonna bother with a members tag on this one since it's pretty minor stuff but for the sake of transparency I'm announcing it anyway; the @BOG is still tackling bigger problems but we do love to discuss random small stuff too.

First up, goalies are just too damn good! Okay that's a bit of an exaggeration but because goalies weren't touched when we nerfed the meta and skaters got a bit worse they have been running away with things a bit more than historically. Save percentages have been climbing, Playoff MVP is almost a foregone conclusion, etc. We could change this with huge sweeping changes to goalie stats and adding hybrid attributes and all that, and that's still on the table for testing as a future option, but it's a bit more complicated than what we realistically need right now. From our testing we can bring goalie stats back down to more of historical averages, without making scoring go too insane, by simply adjusting the goals slider inside the sim. This means the amount of shots won't increase (at least not substantially anyway) but the amount of goals will. As always we aren't going to publicly reveal what our slider settings are but we felt like the league should at least know it's getting adjusted so they aren't confused as to why scoring increases. The slider change will impact all 3 levels of the VHL so the VHLE and VHLM will get it as well for consistency.

Second, and this one honestly doesn't come up a ton but it's best to get it in writing: We are formalizing that during the week you re-create you are allowed to max earn (that's 12 capped TPE per week) on both your retiring player and your new player. The caveat to this is that you still cannot claim the same task multiple times. So for example if you have job pay and a media spot on your retiring player in a given week and you re-create you cannot claim that same job pay or media spot on the new player. You can write a new media spot, it doesn't need to be a different kind of task, but it needs to be a new task. Does that make sense? We've kinda been doing this for a bit anyway but there was some confusion around it so we figured it was best to clarify. Also, before anyone asks, for multi-week claims you can still use the same task but need to use a new claim week. So for example if you have a 2000 word media spot and you claim week 1 on your retiring player you can claim week 2 during the same week on your new player and then have 2 weeks left. Each claim effectively is just treated as a new task, the same as it is any other time.

Like I said, minor stuff but there it is, enjoy.

    @v.2
    Welcome everyone,

We are back for another article of the VSN and this time, we are going to look at the first dynasty of the history of the VHLE. We saw some great dynasty since the creation of the league, the Oslo Storm between S85 and S88, the current Cologne Express since S87, but now we are going to see once again the journey of the very first dynasty of the VHLE, the S80 to S82 Rome Gladiators. During this period of time, the Gladiators made it to the final three times in a row and won the Renaissance Cup in S82.

    First VHLE Entry Draft

Everything started in S80 with the first VHLE Entry Draft, where each team chose their first players that would decide the destiny of their franchise. When you look at the selections of the Rome Gladiators and how much they performed in the following season, you can say that the GM at the time, InstantRockstar, made some pretty good decisions. Indeed, in the first seven rounds, the GM selected Otto Numminen (8th), Baby Bob (17th) Hari Singh Nalwa (20th), Tobias Reinhart (29th), Gabby Dungan (32nd) and Flynn Remy (41st) that would all be really good players for the Gladiators in S80 and even S81 for some of them. He then selected players like Deke Rike (44th), Ben Aky (43rd), Tyler Steel (56th), Russel Dixon (65th) and Luke Spinelli (68th) in the following rounds that would all play for the Rome Gladiators from S80 to S82 and win the Renaissance Cup in S82.

    S80

In S80, the Rome Gladiators finished second in regular season in a really tight run for a playoff spot, as only five points separated the second and fifth place in the standings. Indeed, the Rome Gladiators finished the season with a record of 36 wins, 28 losses and 8 losses in overtime for a total of 80 points in 72 games and the Cologne Express with 36 wins, 33 losses and 3 losses in overtime for a total of 75 points, only one point short of a playoff spot. The good season of the Rome Gladiators happened, because of the good performances of some key players. Indeed, Tobias Reinhart won the trophy for the best goalie in the league, that would later on be named after Orion D H Chiester IX. On the offensive side, Otto Numminen finished 3rd in the league for the number of points and Baby Bob finished 3rd in goals.

In the playoffs, the Rome Gladiators faced the 3rd team in the standings, the Bratislava Watchmen. Before the series started, it was supposed to be a really even one as only one point separated the two teams in the regular season, but the Gladiators completely destroyed the Watchmen in only four little games to advance to the final. In the other semi-final, the Vasteras Iron Eagles upset the winners of the regular season to follow the Italian team in the final. Everything was going as planned for Rome as they led the final 3-1 after four games, but Vasteras won the next three games to win the first ever Renaissance Cup.

    S81

Once again, in the S81 VHLE Entry Draft, InstantRockstar made some really good draft decisions. In the first and second round, the GM drafted Biggie Cheese (7th) and Robert Wilk (17th), two players that would help the team a lot in S81. Then, in the third round (27th), he drafted the goalie that would help the team win the Cup in S82, Boris Tsezar.

S81 was in a way really different than S80 as there were now eight teams in the league after the arrival of the Oslo Storm and the Yukon Rush. However, if you take away the bottom three teams, the standing is really tight, as only eight points separate the first place from the fifth place. This time, the Rome Gladiators took the last spot for the playoffs with a record of 43 wins, 23 losses and 6 losses in overtime for a total of 92 points in 72 games, only one more point than the Bratislava Watchmen who did not make the playoffs. Eight of the thirteen players that played for the Rome Gladiators in the regular season finished with at least a point per game and three of the four best players were defenseman. Indeed, Flynn Remy finished the regular with 93 points in 72 games, Biggie Cheese with 91 points in 72 games and Milk Jugs with 88 in 60 games.

The winners of the regular season, the Istanbul Red Wolves were the first opponents of the Rome Gladiators in the playoffs, and it was going to be an easy series. Rome took the lead 3-1 in the series, but they saw Istanbul tie the series by winning the next two games to make the series even 3-3. Then, Flynn Remy in the second overtime of the seventh game scored his third goal of the game to complete his hat trick, and to win the series. The Rome Gladiators were now going to play against the Stockholm Vikings in the final of the Renaissance Cup. However, the Gladiators were no match against the Vikings and lost the final series in only four little games.

    S82

Before the start of the draft, InstantRockstar, the GM of the Rome Gladiators traded to the Cologne Express their S82 1st and 4th round picks for Arthur Kimura and X Man, two players that will contribute a lot to the victory of the Renaissance Cup. In the draft, the GM drafted DB III, that would become an important piece in the conquest of the Renaissance Cup, in the second round, 13th overall.

The Rome Gladiators completed another trade at the start of the regular season with the Istanbul Red Wolves. Rome received the defensemen Drakon Zabastovka in exchange for their
S83 1st and 4th round picks. At the trade deadline, the Rome Gladiators made two trades to acquire the forward Raihan Heavems and the defensemen Matty Live. The Gladiators finished third in the league and first in their conference with a record of 45 wins, 21 losses and 6 losses in overtime for a total of 96 points in 72 games. Pekko Viitanen led the team in scoring with 97 points in 72 games and Artair McCloud won the trophy for the best defensemen of the regular season with 91 points in 72 games.

In the first round of the playoffs, the Rome Gladiators crossed swords with the Bratislava Watchmen and only needed five games to defeat the Slovak team. In the final, the Gladiators started the series on the wrong foot with three losses in a row against the Cologne Express. However, Rome turned it around and won the next four games to complete the reverse sweep and won their first Renaissance Cup.

Thanks everyone for reading, I wish you all a good off-season and see you in another VSN article!

No, this is not about the next incredibly mediocre player from player-agent frescoelmo, however I should probably talk about him more.  This is about a position I think the VHL should roll out (or bring back??), specifically to discord; hosting weekly games in a discord voice channel.  Remember chat circa May 2020?  Stayed up late playing free or paid games with your fellow VHL teammates and friends?  Whatever happened to that?  Just a bunch of clickers now (yes)?

This job should be reserved for a member without a current VHL job and would warrant, in theory, 1-2 TPE per week.  Would include setting up and moderating/planning no less than 2 weeknight games in discord, open to all members.  Let's go with one free game and one paid game per week.  Can be voted by members, or picked by the game manager.  Who knows?  The sky is the limit.

Someone tell BOG to implement this thx.

1 - What new skills or new projects are you working on in your personal life?
2 - New season coming soon, new paycheck coming in.  What is your player gonna splurge their money on?
3 - Nice juicy slices of pizza or juicy BBQ burgers??

How far the mighty fall when perched atop the league only to be swept immediately in the playoffs. Ultimately again, expectations were dashed a bit within the Nighthawks locker room. We enter yet another off-season with some disappointment and dreams shaken. While we did win the Victory Cup, it's certainly not the most desired cup compared to the Continental Cup. There should be some player hardware taken home during the awards, but still I'm a bit disheartened by the outcome and the slow dissipation of the team's prime window for competition. You can't win them all. But for the players who chose to remain with the Nighthawks, I wish we certainly could have ended with a much better resolution.

My drive remains ambitious for this team to do even better. We've always got work to do, and things to change or tweak. There's still some time to get things done and I will not let the team fade quietly into the night. Malmo will enter S93 with an even greater ambition to compete at an elite level. 🔥
