GM John Frostbeard steps up to the podium near the DC Dragons home arena on a very cold winter's morning with a megaphone and a glass of Viking brandy

"I am cold and I am angry, yet here we are, announcing those who will be leading our squad on ice for S92! I am incredibly proud of the team we have managed to assemble here in D.C. It has been a great time to see our players grow, mature and become true leaders. Now lets lead ourselves to playoffs and then to the finish line - we can do it, we are meant to do it!"

Here are the Captains for S92 D.C. Dragons

Assistant captain and a player entering his last season, a centreman who became an anchor of our offensive capabilities, became a dominant player and brought unequalled leadership to our locker room -  Jason @Jason kranz
Assistant captain and a leader who has kept developing and becoming our one true defensive juggernaut, an individual who is a true D.C. Dragon, loyalty towards his team and loyalty towards his teammates is what makes him a real leader - Ben Laas @dustywilson22
Captain and an individual that jumpstarted our rebuild, he became the star player that D.C. Dragons needed, our S88 1st Overall pick, master of offence on the blueline, the one true king and an individual who is ready to get that Continental cup - Mark Calaway @Beketov

Congratulations to our Captaincy squad - lets get the job done!

    Hello VHL,

This post serves as my announcement of my resignation from Recruitment, GM of the New York Americans, Board of Governors, and as one of the VHLE Commissioners. Allow me a moment to explain:

On October 8th, 2020, I found myself with a lot of time on my hands. I was working part-time and earning my Master's degree while living in a world that was dictated by COVID. I saw an advertisement on one of Thrash94's videos for the VHL and I quickly joined. I came in eager to learn, eager to earn, and eager to make Hall of Fame-worthy players. I dove headfirst into the VHL community and loved every minute of it. Eventually, I applied to be a GM for Team USA in the WJC and since then I've managed in one way or another. I became a GM for the San Diego Marlins, then the Stockholm Vikings, and finally the New York Americans. In all of that, I helped manage various off-season tournaments as well. That escalated to me taking a position on the Recruitment Team, and being asked to work as a Commissioner for the VHLE, which I happily accepted.

While all of that was going on, my personal life and career were taking off. My wife became pregnant, we moved back to our home state, and our family grew. I finished my Master's, and started working full-time, and the time that I had to devote to the league dwindled more and more over time. This year though has been a tipping point. As some of you know, my mother struggled with addiction my whole life, and in April that struggle caught up to her and she passed. Then, my wife and I endured the hardship of losing two children through miscarriage. Those events led us to grow much closer, and it made me realize just how precious the time I have with my family is. It's only here temporarily, and it can vanish in the blink of an eye.

Those hard moments were, well, hard. But, there have been so many good things to happen in my life this year, most of them revolving around increased work responsibilities. While I love my work, I don't have the luxury of a job that runs 9-5 and is off on the weekends, so the free time I do get is rather limited and decreases more and more.

All of that being said, I want you to know that I am not making this decision because I'm burnt out, nor because I've lost interest in the VHL. It comes down to the fact that I just don't have the time I used to when I first started, and I can't devote the way I want to the thing that I seem to be lacking.

My goal, at this time, is to finish out my career with Dynamite and then...well, who knows? Maybe I'll take a season or two off completely and lurk every once in a while, or maybe I'll make another player and ride the pension/welfare train for a while. I don't know. What I do know is that I'm thankful for the time I've had here, and for the friends I've made.

vincentlg2007 reacted to Ricer13 in Calgary Wranglers, End of an Era
    Hello friends,

I am officially announcing my retirement as General Manager of the Calgary Wranglers. There are a few reasons as to why I have made this decision and now is the best time to take a step back from this role to better spend my time in other areas of the league and in my personal life.

I hold a pretty high bar for myself when it comes to maintaining a certain level of activity for any locker room that I am in charge of. The day that became a chore is the day I knew it was time for a much needed break. I also live a super busy personal life and this has also made it harder to give the locker room my full attention.

There is nothing to worry about in terms of my participation in the league. I still very much enjoy and love being apart of this league. I will have better focus on my player and the locker room I’m apart of there. I have my moderation gig that I’ll have more time to focus on and one day I do plan on stepping back into a GM role because it truly is a passion of mine.

Lastly, thank you to all the GMs I have had a pleasure to work with since I’ve started, all the AGMs who have worked along side me over the seasons and the players who grinded it out and bought into the way I wanted things to run in Calgary. I am not going to ping everyone who’s been an important part of this journey, I think you all know who you are at this point.

    Ricer, out!! 🎤 ⬇️

**I do recommend that @leandrofg be considered to step in as replacement. He has been running the team behind the scenes this past season and has a really good handle on how things are going in Calgary. He also has a long history with the organization. I will respect whatever decision is made for my replacement.**

vincentlg2007 reacted to Banackock in Quitting smoking?
November 9 I celebrated my three years anniversary of being smoke free. Not a single drop of nicotine, cigarette, vape, nicotine help or anything. Cold Turkey! It’s crazy to look back, think and just have the realization sink in that it’s been three entire years. I still have tough days. I still have days when I want a cigarette and while I really hope that goes away, it might stay for quite some time still.

These stats are also crazy. Based off what I was smoking at the end of when I quit, about 15 a day, because I was trying to wean myself off,  I would’ve smoked 16,449 cigarettes from my quit moment until now. Based off show long it takes to smoke a cigarette, taking about five minutes per, I would’ve sat there for 57 entire days had I smoked them all consecutively… that’s NUTS! Also saved a rough estimate of $11,000, however, the price of cigarettes has also gone up since I last smoked.

vincentlg2007 reacted to jacobcarson877 in The VHLM is quiet and Recruitment is so different right now
So as you may have seen, there have been some tensions between the VHLM/E GMs and the Recruitment team. Their player counts have not been stable or particularly numerous these past few seasons, and with most of Recruitment’s work happening behind closed doors, it can make them a rather easy target. Much like the popular disdain of the VHLE, where we all watch players go inactive the moment they make the transition there, and a new approach to Recruitment failing to bring in new active members as of today, it can be easy to confuse correlation and causation.

I think we can all understand when I connect the concept of Recruitment to that of Sales. While I am no businessman, I know a few things from merely being alive, that pertain to the art.

The first is that you cannot control the number of deals you close, merely the number of contacts you make. Recruitment’s job is not to bring in members, contrary to what some may think. It is to put the VHL brand in front the appropriate number of eyeballs that might be interested in our community. I think we can all agree that not enough eyeballs are seeing our social media pages that would be interested in joining our community. I imagine that this is where the outrage is coming from. Social Media would become our largest traffic driver were we to actually build a large audience, but that will inevitably take time and/or luck. Does this make it not worth our efforts? I think it is very much worth our efforts, as other pools of eyeballs are dwindling the more we scoop from them.

The second piece of knowledge is that in order to land a sale, one has to provide a product that the person thinks they want. How do we do that? We connect whatever interest they currently have, with whatever experience we think we can offer them. Our existing pool of Youtube recruits connected with the idea that we’re something in the realm of Be A Pro from the NHL series, and we use our understanding of that connection to draw traffic to our site. We also know that this connection is not exactly true, as our core gameplay experience is in fact nothing like Be A Pro. The actions taken to participate in this league do not involve a controller, or even a visual aspect. The connection between video game enjoyer and writer/artist/podcaster is superficially connected, with a very low conversion rate. But, considering the number of eyeballs that see it, and the simplicity of just clicking a link, Youtube does bring the most eyeballs to the front page of our website. They may even make a player and click all of the buttons on the Player Management page. But then what? I remember this part of my creation process, and I would have quit had I not left the tab open when I went to bed and woke up to some messages from VHLM GMs. Video game enjoyers want to do a thing, and when you’ve made that sale, they want to dive right in, and with nothing more to do, they close the tab and never come back. Obviously, this isn’t true for everyone, we have a large number of active members from Youtube, but with enough eyeballs, there will certainly be a few that buck the trend and stick around. While this is something that works, even at a low conversion rate, it is better than nothing, and useful to bump up some smaller classes, it should not be our primary method moving forward.

The final piece of wisdom is that one of the methods people make sales is by applying some sense of urgency. People are willing to purchase something just because it is on sale, or because there is limited stock. If people don’t feel like it is the best time to purchase something, they may never. How many random snacks from the grocery store have you only tried because they were a limited time offer, or on sale, even better a 2/5$ sale on a couple of 3$ bags of chips? May as well buy 2 at that point! The season cycle moves so quickly (in terms of real life, I know those offseasons are killing everyone), there are so many important events that we could use to draw people in. Get in before the draft! Get in this week after the trade deadline! Get in just in time for season start, or theme week! Refer a friend this week and get a free Doubles Week! People are going to act far more spontaneously when forced to act with urgency, or to extend the value.

Is Recruitment really failing? Not in the slightest. I think it is actually really great that they’re putting awesome work in front of eyeballs, even if it is just ours for now. Yes, they need to use a tried and true method at the moment (which they are), to bring raw numbers to the table. But Youtube is, in my opinion, our worst method of Recruitment, since it is pretty well a lie straight out of the gate. We aren’t Be A Pro, and we have nothing in common, gameplay wise with that medium. There are also less and less people spending all of their days watching NHL videos on Youtube. People are back at work and school, and viewership in general continues to move towards other platforms. It is very responsible for the Recruitment to be thinking about the long term, setting out a foundation to get continued and steady members rather than large booms and busts. Their work hasn’t paid off yet, and as they lay out policy and expectations for generations of Recruitment members, they will have to work overtime to do the Recruitment style of old, while also adapting to modern times. Many of us can remember 2020 and how many new members were flowing in, but that was a different circumstance, and any dwindling since can’t solely be attributed to incompetence.

Lets leave Recruitment to recruit, they also have brains and know numbers are low, and lets get ourselves back to keeping the members we do have active and engaged.

    Lots of love,

    Jacob

P.S. Shoutout to my homies on and related to Recruitment.

P.P.S If you genuinely have ideas, shoot a DM to @Moon, the team has always been open to discuss ideas with me and I assume others!

    @leandrofg

Hey everybody! Welcome to this season’s VHL Season preview, after a busy offseason, full of roster changes there’s been a considerable shift in team’s outlooks this season with a major shift towards the European Conference. So, without further to do, let’s jump right into it!

    North American Conference

    1 - Toronto Legion
    Forward Rank - 4th
    Defense Rank - 6th
    Goalie Rank - 2nd
    Conference Rank - 1st
    League Rank - 5th

The Toronto Legion are back this season with almost the same roster as last season with the only changes being due to the retirement of Siyan Yasilievich @badcolethetitan, and Ronan Lavelle @Arce, with this they called up Diego Machado @Dadam30, and Walter Fitzroy Jr @Moon while this is a pretty clear step down it does open the door for Mac Atlas @v.2 to have a career season as they will need to be incredible for Toronto to succeed. While they do now lack a true number one defensemen to start the season, Bobby Bob @Baby Boomer should continue to improve and will likely fill that gap by the trade deadline and with Joel Castle @animal74 in goal they should be alright defensively. Overall, Toronto is still very early in their competitive window this season could very well be their best chance with a relatively weak conference and before the cap crunch that will hit them like a bus in a season or two as their players continue to come off their ELCs.

    2 - Calgary Wranglers
    Forward Rank - 9th
    Defense Rank - 2nd
    Goalie Rank - 9th
    Conference Rank - 2nd
    League Rank - 7th

Last offseason it looked as though the Calgary Wranglers were going into an extended rebuild as they shipped out all their stars with the retirement of Daniel Janser @Daniel Janser. But, with some excellent work by GM @Ricer13, they should be in the playoffs this season and could maybe challenge Toronto for the top spot as they do have much better depth. In the offseason they added Sadie St. Louis @sadie, Catia Goncalves @cLoWn, Oreo McFleury @JB123, and Randy Bobandy @AJW up front, and also brought back AirRig GoodBrandSun @Rhynex Entertainment and also acquired Malum Maellard @frescoelmo to help on the blue line. The only real question mark for Calgary this season comes in goal with Merome Dilson @MexicanCow123 as they will be tasked with taking their game to a new level as the team looks to contend.

    3 - Los Angeles Stars
    Forward Rank - 8th
    Defense Rank - 13th
    Goalie Rank - 8th
    Conference Rank - 4th
    League Rank - 9th

The Los Angeles Stars surprised a lot of people last season and did their best this offseason to keep the group together and take another step forward. LA brought in both Larry Abass Jr @RileyL and Jon Webber Jr @Webberj in two trades to support their forward core. Although what that did do is left the D-core a little flat as Elias Lampi @Pifferfish will need to step up and fill a massive void this season. LA does still have Art Vandelay @Gustav who will need to be spectacular this season for LA to compete, they should comfortably make the playoffs, but the matter of where depends on Vandelay.

    4 - D.C. Dragons
    Forward Rank - 6th
    Defense Rank - 8th
    Goalie Rank - 11th
    Conference Rank - 3rd
    League Rank - 8th

The D.C. Dragons come into this season with a shiny new player in The Frenchman @OrbitingDeath ! This should build upon their existing core, of Vincent Laroche-Gagnier @vincentlg2007, Jason @Jason kranz, and Ryuji Sakamoto @der meister and turn D.C. into a potential juggernaut. However, with this they do have a bit less depth than last season but should be fine with the much improved top-end. The only area where the roster really took a hit was in goal with the departure of Bubbles Utonium @fishy and the signing of Geoff Bezos @Quik, who will enter their first season as a starting goalie. For D.C. there is one blaring question; can the players who broke out last season do it again?

    5 - Seattle Bears
    Forward Rank - 12th
    Defense Rank - 14th
    Goalie Rank - 6th
    Conference Rank - 5th
    League Rank - 11th

Seattle committed to the rebuild this offseason and may very well stumble into the playoffs due to them still having some top caliber talent in goal with Clueless Wallob @DMaximus who could very well carry this team there and enters the season a MVP front-runner for that reason. Apart from in goal the roster is primarily 2nd-line/pair players and a mix of rookies and veterans which could maybe just maybe make some noise this season.

    6 - Vancouver Wolves
    Forward Rank - 14th
    Defense Rank - 16th
    Goalie Rank - 12th
    Conference Rank - 7th
    League Rank - 15th

The Vancouver Wolves had a offseason to remember that will lead them back to success in the near future. The current team is built around two S88 players in FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY Analfist @STZ and Liv Slater @Subject056 and they already have their future starting goalie in Dalkr Vidarsson @KaleebtheMighty. We can look for Vancouver to build around this group with their FIVE 1sts in the next draft. While Vancouver will have an uphill battle if they hope to make the playoffs this season, they could push for the 2nd wildcard spot if a few things go their way.

    7 - Chicago Phoenix
    Forward Rank - 15th
    Defense Rank - 12th
    Goalie Rank - 15th
    Conference Rank - 6th
    League Rank - 14th

While the Chicago roster is still not anything special, they do have their goalie of the future up this season in Ryan Artyomov who will be a bright spot for the team this season. For Chicago the future is not now, but they have built a good future core by drafting both Joshua Schwarzer and Lionel Colberg last draft. Chicago is still about 2 seasons away from competing, but when they do, watch out!

    8 - New York Americans
    Forward Rank - 13th
    Defense Rank - 15th
    Goalie Rank - 16th
    Conference Rank - 8th
    League Rank - 16th

New York had an interesting offseason; they got the one thing they have needed for 15 seasons with a true number one defensemen in CGY Janser @Daniel Janser and they have kept their young group together despite zero hope of being competitive for at least 2 more seasons. While New York does have some good pieces with Jesper Davis @Josh, Tord Yvel @Trazan, and Francesco Mancini @GioSivo, their goalie is by far the worst in the VHL and is NOT even VHL eligible... It's also important to note that they'll only be able to start them for 8 games as per the spirit of competition rules state "CPU Goaltenders - Teams may not start a CPU Goaltender for more than 8 games in a season, when a human created goaltender above 250 TPA is available. If the team does not have a human created goaltender on their roster, they must make a reasonable attempt to acquire one, whether that is through trade, free agency, or the VHL Entry Draft." as a result NYA is in a very difficult position and will likely have to trade for a teams backup goalie soon.

    European Conference

    1 - London United
    Forward Rank - 1st
    Defense Rank - 5th
    Goalie Rank - 1st
    Conference Rank - 1st
    League Rank - 1st

London took a huge step forward in the offseason, where some people would not have been surprised if they re-tooled slightly. Bringing in Lloyd Braun @Toast and Wann Kerr @VattghernCZ for 2 1sts and signing Ivan Retoslav @eagle_3450 to fill a 2C spot the roster is looking pretty good and could have London’s best regular season ever. With that being said they will be needing their blueline to step up in a big way to minimize scoring chances as that does appear to be the one gap in their roster. As always Jesse Teno @aimkin is the heart and soul of this team, and they will live or die based primarily on Teno. While London does have an incredibly high ceiling, they could also end up somewhere around 3rd or 4th if they can struggle to score again this season.

    2 - HC Davos Dynamo
    Forward Rank - 5th
    Defense Rank - 3rd
    Goalie Rank - 4th
    Conference Rank - 2nd
    League Rank - 2nd

Davos has been one of the top teams in the VHL for about 6 seasons now winning a Continental and Victory Cup in that stretch. Last offseason the team decided to go for it one last time as they brought in all of Isamu Knievel @jakkysosa, Big B @Bigb33, Dogwood Maple @dogwoodmaple, and Leandro Goncalves @leandrofg to build upon one of the top roosters in the league. Similarly, to London, Davos is also dependent on their starting goalie in Lachlan Summers @kirbithan, who is coming off of one of the best goaltending seasons in recent history.  We could be in for an interesting battle at the top of the EU this season and Davos should be at the center of it.

    3 - Prague Phantoms
    Forward Rank - 2nd
    Defense Rank - 4th
    Goalie Rank - 5th
    Conference Rank - 3rd
    League Rank - 3rd

Last season’s Continental Cup Champion is essentially running it back this season with the only roster change being due to Perry Laperriere @KaleebtheMighty and Jason Argos @Insypher retiring and Prague bringing in Steve Lattimer @pugsood and Zack Martinez @Sam_19 to replace them. While Prague is still one of the top rosters in the league, led by John Jameson @Frank and Nikolas Kauppi @Tetricide, they are quickly getting up there in age and we could maybe see some big trades as they push for another cup. Overall, Prague’s roster is extremely well rounded, and there really isn’t a gap at all, the only question is will the loss of Perry Laperriere be too much for Prague?

    4 - Helsinki Titans
    Forward Rank - 3rd
    Defense Rank - 7th
    Goalie Rank - 3rd
    Conference Rank - 5th
    League Rank - 6th

After squeaking into the playoffs last season, Helsinki only improved this offseason by bringing in Pierre-Emile Bouchard @Gaikoku-hito to act as their number 1 defensemen. With possibly the best top line in the league with Daryl Dixon @Ricer13 and Landon Wolanin @jacobcarson877, Helsinki's offense looks solid and could very well take the league by storm. With that being said they will need Fuuka Rask @Jubis to take a step forward this season as Helsinki finally moves into their truly competitive window. The main issue for Helsinki this season is their lack of depth in both their forward and defensive lines. Helsinki should make the playoffs, but will need some luck to compete at the top of the conference.

    5 - Malmo Nighthawks
    Forward Rank - 7th
    Defense Rank - 1st
    Goalie Rank - 10th
    Conference Rank - 4th
    League Rank - 4th

After missing the playoffs last season despite being one of the top teams in the league, Malmo made some moves in the offseason bringing in Skor McFleury @Alex and Yaroslav Bogatyrev @Bojovnik, both of whom should make an impact this season. With Malmo their younger players are finally developing into stars with Jacob Stone @scoop and Yaroslav Trunov @qripll set to make an impact this season. The main issue for Malmo comes in goal with Ash Sparks @DarkSpyro who is well below the standard of other starting goalies and Malmo will likely only go as far as he will carry them, unless their offense absolutely goes off. The top of the EU is really up for grabs for any of the teams mentioned already, primarily due to 5 of the league’s top 6 teams being in the conference, this should be an interesting season.

    6 - Riga Reign
    Forward Rank - 10th
    Defense Rank - 10th
    Goalie Rank - 7th
    Conference Rank - 6th
    League Rank - 10th

Honestly, if any team is to push one of the top 5 out of the playoffs it’s Riga. While they do lack some top end talent with AK92 Wit da Hoodie @hedgehog337 and Henry Tucker Jr @NSG being the only players over 1000 TPA, their depth is very solid and I actually like them to squeak into the playoffs, it’s just a question of which top team will falter. Defensively Brian Kowalski @Wheaties is not that far removed from a career season they could easily reach that level again. Riga, while lower ranked than the other competitive teams, could easily make things very interesting this season.

    7 - Moscow Menace
    Forward Rank - 11th
    Defense Rank - 11th
    Goalie Rank - 14th
    Conference Rank - 7th
    League Rank - 12th

The future in Moscow is very bright, they should be back to being a top team in 2 to 3 seasons depending on when @Spartan pulls the trigger. Moscow does have some of the best young players in the league with Axle Gunner @Steve, Jeff Lewis @nerji, and Nils Andersson @Viper. With several more prospects in the VHLE, Moscow is looking ridiculous in the future. This should be a great team very soon.

    8 - Warsaw Predators
    Forward Rank - 16th
    Defense Rank - 9th
    Goalie Rank - 13th
    Conference Rank - 8th
    League Rank - 13th

The rebuild is still in full swing in Warsaw with the team making a questionable trade in the offseason and just really lacks any top end talent or prospects outside of Maxim Anisimov @McLovin and King Kisslinger @Kisslinger. Warsaw still has a way to go and patience will be needed to get the team back to a spot where they can consistently win games.

Thank you for reading this season’s VHL preview! Best of luck to everyone this season!

A tragic death has broken the hearts of ice hockey fans and players across the world. As we mourn this man gone far too soon, questions have risen over how to prevent a similar tragedy from ever occurring again. As both a professional hockey player and as an executive for a sporting goods supplier, these questions have borrowed their way into my recent thoughts. This is all my thoughts and enotions collected in word form on the right thing to do in response to this tragedy.   Back when I played cricket for my primary school, the coach of the team made an unofficial rule.  All batting helmets had to have neck guards. No helmet was acceptable if it didn't have that extra level of protection. No one forced him to do this, he just did it because he felt it was right and we all loved him for his care for us. Comparatively, the risk on hurting you neck in cricket is nothing to the risk in ice hockey. My mother asked Coach Will about those risk the first time I ever laced up skates and he told her the truth. While it is rare, it does happen. When the AIHLI started up, she bought me my first neck guard.  I have been wearing them ever since. This sport we all love can be cruel and chaotic. As often as it produces humorous, weird moments, it can hurt us in ways we can never see coming. And the hockey skate is not the only thing that can damage the neck or throat in this game. A puck or stick can be just as harmful in the right (or wrong) circumstance. We all have people who care about us. I am unsure if I would be able to face the loved ones of a player that died because of my equipment or actions. That is why I believe that all players should have some form of throat protection, for your loved ones and also for fellow players.   Some people will slander me as a vile opportunist, milking this tragedy for profit. And while the money has come in, it has never been about that for me. I started this entrepreneurial journey simply to make sure those who needed sporting gear might receive it. That has been the core principle behind all that I have done. And I am more than prepared to put my money where my mouth is. I will supply throats guards to any player in any league that ask for one. It doesn't matter to me if you're in the VHL, the SHL, the GOHL, or in any other league. If you feel the need for this protection and ask me for it, I will send it to you completely free of charge. This is all about empowering my fellow players to take their protection into their own hands. This is how we prevent further tragedy like this from ever happening again. It is simply the right thing to do.

    Calgary Wrangler's S90 Team Awards

We are back! Gettin' them done before the next season begins. Season 90 was an anomaly for the Wranglers as they took a step back in order to rebuild the system. They have coined the term "Losing Sucks" and are ready to turn the ship around for S91. Let's have a look back at last season and hand out some awards for the player's hard work.

    DJ Badge (Leadership)

The Daniel Janser Badge is given to the player/s that exemplify the best leadership qualities over the course of a season. A few players stood out last season as leaders for this group through a tough season and deserve to have earned this award. Congratulations to Phil Strasmore @Phil and Fradin McGryer @Fradin99 on being our co-winners of the DJ Badge.

    Jubis Memorial Trophy (Long-Term Success)

This award is given to the player who demonstrates the potential to have long-term success as a member of this league. This player went through his fair share of personal issues this season and even through it all has managed to stay active in this league. If he can continue on this path I have no doubt that he will be a mainstay for seasons to come. Congratulations to Fradin McGryer @Fradin99 on winning this award.

    Young Buck Award (Top Prospect)

We like to shine a light on our players as well as our prospects each season. One player stuck out above the rest and had an exceptional season down in the VHLE. He has continued to put in the work and will be a mainstay in Calgary as he moves up to eventually take the role as our number one centreman. For his hard work and dedication, Raimo Tuomenin @SlapshotWrangler is our Young Buck Award winner!

    Last Line Award (Top Defenseman)

This award is handed out to the top defensemen over the course of a regular season. This defensemen played in every situation and was not only the best defensemen but the best skater for our team last season. Congratulations to Phil Strasmore @Phil on winning the Last Line Award.

    Top Shelf Award (Goals Leader)

Two players are the winners of the Top Shelf Award for S90. Both players came into the season playing their first with Calgary and one of them was a rookie for our squad. They each scored 24 goals to earn themselves this award. Congratulations to Steve Lattimer @pugsood and Zac Martinez @Sam_19.

    Rybak Trophy (Points Leader)

We had one player lead the team in points last season and he did so with 60 points. This is very good seeing as how we had a very down season. He did have a new career high in goals scored with 13. Congratulations Phil Strasmore @Phil on winning the Rybak Trophy.

    The Most Valuable Wrangler

There is one player on this team that stands above the rest. He did everything in his power to ruin the tank. He set new career bests in save percentage (.928) and goals against average (2.7) even though the team has been its worst since he's been a part of it. We are looking forward to seeing what he can do with a contending roster in front of him next season. Congratulations to Merome Dilson @MexicanCow123on being the Most Valuable Wrangler.

Thats all for our season 90 awards. We are very excited to have turned this ship around and are looking forward to who will be fighting for these awards next season.

    D.C. Dragons Special Announcement

We, the incredibly proud Dragons family, have always felt the need and in that a great honour to look for the best in our midst.
It is that time to commemorate a career of a true D.C. Dragon, a player who embodied the true heart and soul of this team.

In this case, we are talking about a player that had a tenure under 2 different GMs.

Here is the comment from GM Eno Rama, the founder of D.C. Dragons : In my entire tenure as GM, I always positioned competitive windows around my goalie. If I had a good goalie under contract in a given season, I wanted to be competitive in that season. We had a couple really solid goalies even stick it out with us for a full career. Only one goalie ever brought us home a cup.

To comment on this myself, as a GM that has spent only few seasons here, there were few players that I could always rely on and I knew they would keep pushing and make us all strive to do better. That strong backbone for us was no other than our D.C. Dragons career goaltender.

Before the start of S91, we are proud to announce jersey retirement of our own Bubbles Utonium, the amazing Nr.27!

Congratulations @fishy - you managed to not only build a truly wonderous and talented goaltender in Bubbles Utonium, but you also managed to set an incredible standard for any goaltender that joins our franchise!

Good luck in the retirement and thanks for the amazing seasons spent with the Dragons!
