    S55 VHL Awards

should probably copy me tbh :flex:
  2. Counter proposal: starting next season, this award and Most Sportsmanlike are discontinued
  3. I maintain that I was right in calling for that trade to be vetoed
  4. The Dynamo have taken a large step forward with the acquisitions they have made this off-season, but how successful they end up being could come down to the development of third-year players Shawn Muller. Coming in, Diana Maxwell will shoulder a large burden of the offense, but when she was successful in New York, she had two great centers in Unassisted and Essian Ravenwing with whom she worked well. For Davos, a lot will be riding on the chemistry between Gretzky and Maxwell. Gretzky will also have some top flight competition to deal with on Europe's other top teams. The Reign now have Ravenwing as their top center, while the Titans have Franchise Cornerstone. No one is expecting Gretzky to reach the level of these two, considering they are both top five forwards, but if he is grossly outmatched, it will make things very difficult for the rest of the team. All three of the top European teams have a serious shot at winning, with advantages and disadvantages over each other. Bringing Lee King Snatch to the team, the Dynamo have a better defense than the Titans, while their forward unit as a whole is superior to Riga's. for mist4ke
  5. Maxwell vs. Axelsson vs. Ravenwing With the retirements of star forwards Unassisted, Tyson Kohler, and Black Velvet, it may be time for the Season 50 class of forwards to really step into a level of their own at the top. In particular, that is the first three players selected in the draft: Diana Maxwell, Theo Axelsson, and Essian Ravenwing. While others such as Pietro Maximoff and Franchise Cornerstone may be up there with them, the story of these three is more interesting (certainly from my perspective, at least). Maxwell and Ravenwing have played their entire VHL careers together thus far. Through the bad and good times, they've been together. With the recent blowup of the New York roster by the newly hired GM Vincent Wong, Maxwell and Ravenwing will be going their separate ways. Ravenwing was shipped off to Riga, while Maxwell is heading over to the Dynamo. They didn't go to their respective teams alone, however. Bobby Digital, Phil Shankly, and M.T. Power are also headed to the Reign; meanwhile, Maxwell is taking Motherfucker Sharpe with her to Davos. These two teams may very possibly clash in the playoffs in what may come to be dubbed the New York Civil War. Prepare yourselves for the breakup song. Axelsson actually has a minor connection to both Maxwell and Ravenwing, as well. Axelsson and Ravenwing played together on the Saskatoon Wild of the VHLM during the end of S48. Then in the S49 VHLM draft, Axelsson and Maxwell were both drafted to the Brampton Blades, both finishing the season top three in goals and points. Axelsson and his Titans are currently the team to beat in the VHL, having won back-to-back championships (a feat which Maxwell and Ravenwing accomplished with the Americans in S52 and S53). Though they are all forwards, they play three different styles. Axelsson and Maxwell, both right wings, are the most similar of the trio. They are both top notch goal scorers who can get physical. Axelsson is definitely more of a power forward, while Maxwell is quicker and better with the puck. Ravenwing is a playmaking center who very rarely throws his body around. Over the last couple of seasons, he has become a better goal scorer as well, which the Reign may need from him. The 'A' is for Axelsson These three have all established themselves as top forwards by this point, but none of them will be able to win it all alone. As far as the forward help that each of them has, Maxwell's teammates in Davos have proven least of them all. Rusty Trombone had a good rookie season last year and Shawn Gretzky is a potential breakout player, but Maxwell will be relied upon heavily. Meanwhile, Axelsson has Franchise Cornerstone, who is among the top forwards along with this trio. The Reign will be looking for Phil Shankly to step out of the shadow he had been in behind Maxwell and Unassisted while on New York. With two seasons left to play in their careers, these three players are all looking to go out on a high note. They are all signed for both seasons to their respective teams, and with a rebuild not on the horizon for any of them, it's likely this battle between them will extend beyond S56. Personally, I'm very excited for the next two seasons seeing these three players, and these three teams, duking it out. ~~~~for Maxwell~~~~
