A New Season DAVOS - Outside, the world is a beautiful place. The grass is turning green again, flowers are blooming and the UPS guys are starting to wear shorts again. It's a brand new season in the Victory Hockey League as teams are playing their final games of the regular season, some of them going home for the rest of the year. But the rest are gearing up for the new season, known to us as the VHL Playoffs. A team's record means everything during the regular season, for it gets you through the door. But once you get there, everything a team has done up until that point means nothing. You scored 60 goals in 72 games during the regular season? It doesn't matter if you score none in the next four, or you'll be gone just as fast as you got there. Great players are made during the regular season, but legends are born in the playoffs. Soon enough, a new champion will be crowned. Everything will be on the line, who will answer the call and raise the Continental Cup? Jethro Novacek is a contributor to the MSFL Times, which will live forever. He enjoys David Lee Roth's antics, eagerly awaiting the beginning of football and taking joyrides in an M18 Hellcat.

Kowalski Ready For VHLM NEW YORK - It has taken many months, many days of grueling, repetitive practice and not to mention many hours of frustration. But several years after his professional football career in the NFL came to an end, Jack Kowalski says he is ready for the first leg of his journey to the Victory Hockey League: the VHLM. "It's been tough, but I finally feel like I'm ready," said Kowalski in an interview conducted over the telephone. "It was definitely frustrating to learn how to skate along with picking up the rules for a brand new game, but I've yet to meet a challenge I can't overcome. The VHLM Dispersal Draft just can't get here soon enough!" Despite a journey many felt was marred by excessive fights and other physical violence, Kowalski looks to bring about a new breed of defensemen in the VHL, that of a true enforcer. Time will tell if he will become a feared hitter and fighter or simply another laughingstock that can't stop anyone. Jethro Novacek is a contributor to the MSFL Times, excitedly preparing for football season. He enjoys taking part in a ballroom blitz, releasing captive animals and cheering on his beloved Nittany Lions.

Apparently he didn't really cut it on special teams either, which was really his only shot to make the team there. Somebody will probably pick him up, as I doubt he'll make it through waivers.

Davey really wanted to play with me again after the good times we had in Bratislava. After Cologne didn't want to trade for me while New York had me on the block, he decided that if we were to be teammates again, it'd be in my new home of Davos. Especially considering the five year contract extension I signed, which I hoped would help instill a new culture of loyalty there. Considering how long our core has stayed together, I would consider it a success. Davey has been invaluable to the success of the HC Dynamo and I have been happy and priviliged to share a locker room with him. I'm sad to see him go, but if it means he will remain an active, contributing memver of this community, so be it. Lastly, look for my editorial in Issue 205 of the VHL Mag, as it tackles the topic of early retirement. #ShamelessPlug
