Kowalski Turning Heads At Camp OSLO - When defenseman Jack Kowalski declared for the draft, it seemed as if few teams took notice. Perhaps it was due to how late he was made eligible for the draft, perhaps it was due to his background as a football player. Or maybe the VHLM didn't want a goon on their team. Eventually, however, the Oslo Storm selected Kowalski with the second pick in the second round, adding him to a dangerous defender's platoon with established starters Lloyd Light and Vladamir Komarov. The Storm were in for an even bigger surprise when Kowalski showed up to camp in even better condition than advertised. "He's looking like a steal for sure," said Oslo's General Manager, Don Draper. "Scouting reports listed him as having issues skating and needing refinement in several areas defensively, but he has absolutely blown us all away so far. He's skating very well for a minor leaguer and on pretty much any other team he could be a top line defenseman." For Kowalski, however, the season can't get here soon enough. His hard work paid off in reaching the VHLM, but now he must see if he is truly talented enough to reach the VHL. Jethro Novacek is a contributor for the MSFL Times, which simply will not die. He enjoys not having dysentery, a good meatloaf dinner and watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys.

That's the best part about hockey: there is no high ground. It's a level playing field and these three squads are going to beat the piss out of each other this year.

Turnover, however, is turnover, regardless of how much or little. Removing the wrong player can make all the difference in the world. But we don't know what effect those moves have made yet. Time will tell.

Hence why I said I want to see more results. It's a preseason game without merit. It's meaningless. As is acting as if NY is better despite a new roster.

STHS can be a rather fickle bitch, so who knows. I'll wait for GM-approved rosters and further results on the ice before making claims like that though.

You're not fielding the same roster. You had to ship off a few cogs to stay under the cap. Fact is, there are no facts yet for S40. We won't know who the better team is until it's all over and anything until then is merely speculation. That said, damn right does Calgary have a shot this season.
