I have always liked to entertain the idea of rewarding players who do well in the sim. The concept of how your player does each year playing into how much experience points you can add to your player has been a staple in the VHL ever since I’ve been around in S30. The concept is pretty simple, every player who plays in the VHL gets points (not considered TPE) that they can apply to the STHS stat Experience - and the amount is based off how well your team did last season. With this in mind, I think it would be cool to have a little experience reward if you were to win the championship in either the VHLM or VHLE. Experience isn’t a meta stat and it would just make the championship wins a little more special. This would make a lot of sense in real life terms as well. For example, a player who has won championships at the junior level has value as a player who can get it done. Imagine a player who has played 5 seasons in the VHLE and won the championship every year - wouldn’t you expect them to go into the VHL with some sort of elevated stat in Experience? Just an idea, but would be a very minor change that I think would be cool in concept.

Review: This is cool looking graphic. You can tell a lot of work was put into this. The jersey change is solid and the helmet change is pretty good too. The glow outlines look like they were manually cut on the render, pretty cool looking effect. The text is cool kinda gives me nostalgia as the way I used to do it back in the day. Good work here. 8/10 -
Review: Nice graphic. A lot of really cool elements here. I’ll start off with the render effects. I think they are pretty strong and work well with your grunge style. Text is solid as always and there’s some new technique in there. I like the glitch effect you did on the top right as well it’s cool. The DC logo looks a little out of place and could be blended a little better. I do agree with Steve in that you could try going out of your comfort zone - but all I. All these are solid graphics that I’m sure a ton of players are stoked to get! 9/10

Just found out how to do a bullet on mobile - flipping to horizontal view. That’s gotta be worth taking note of. Actually I just discovered recently that pretty much for an entire year I was using a bugged skin that didn’t let me see a majority of the features on the site.. Christmas and New Years was good, but definitely nice to be over with. Kind of looking forward to the slow dead time of the year here. It’s rough that off season hasn’t even started and it feels a little blah around here but I know that’ll change soon once I actually get on a team and all that. Seems like there are a bunch of activities in the off-season. Like World Juniors and then sim ProAm and a juniors showcase. I got invited to all the discords but they seem kinda dead. Wondering if it starts to heat up in a little bit. Don’t have a team to do Press Conferences yet so I guess I’ll be going off to do a couple reviews now, byeee

I think that’s a glitch in the portal. Osborne never had 270 points in a season..

I just meant when we had two players that played on the same team

So this'll be my first set of bullets with my new player. Feeling refreshed and excited for this new player. It's usually a good sign, as the first few seasons are really the most fun when you get to decide how to build your player before the stats are so high that it takes a month to really impact stats. Anyways here's what's on my mind for this week. I took a season off so I have a fresh new class of players in my draft class. I'm excited for it as there are some familiar faces in @JardyB10, @fonziGG, @Beketov, @Josh, @MexicanCow123, and even @diamond_ace. @scoop in the class too, and the last time we had players close in age we had Unassisted and Diana Maxwell who played together. Pretty solid and deep veteran draft. I think for the most part these will be some safe picks and will likely hold some value. Should be interesting to see where everyone goes and if I were to play with any of them. I did just do a career length run with Bek, but it'd be cool to run it back. The rest I haven't really played with so that'd be alright. Pretty open minded as to where my player goes in the VHLM Draft. I always like experiencing a new GM, just to get to know them and see how they run things. A lot of the time your GM in the VHLM if they are good enough, will be a VHL GM by the time your player is in their prime - so there's that to look at. It's nice to have a number of days off from work with the holidays. I'll be spending quite a bit of time with family the next couple of days. Looking forward to recharging, as the last month has been a lot. World Juniors start up too and this year's tourney looks like it could be a really fun one to follow. That's it for me this week.. More bullets next.

1) Since it's not been too long since you've joined the league, what are thoughts on the league so far as a whole? So far my recreate has been pretty fun. I’m looking forward to the off-season and going through the draft. I enjoyed my time with Houston even though there weren’t many actives on the team. Hoping to be drafted by a team that has a good group of active members. 2) Are there any areas in the league that you would like to see a change/improvement? I think the waiver system is a work in progress. I brought up some concerns to the VHLM Commishes and they made some quick changes and improvements. I still feel it could be built upon giving newer members a better feeling of prospect hype. I also entered the league at TD so that would impact that feeling. 3) The VHLM Newsletter launched earlier this week, did you read it and was it helpful to you? I haven’t read this latest one. I helped do GFX and even edited a couple editions a few seasons ago - I think there’s some real value in the project. 4) What are your aims this season in the VHLM? I’d love to be on a championship winning team. I’m still trying to figure out what I really want from this player - however I’m just here to enjoy the community. Would be cool to play with some members I haven’t played with before. 5) With the teams starting to take shape, who do you consider to be the favourite for the VHLM Founders Cup? I think San Diego is a powerhouse. Mexico made some big TD additions. I think at the end of the day the Marlins will take it home. 6c) If a GM were to make you an offer, what kind of player would they be getting? (If you're currently unaffiliated). Well they would be getting a member that knows how to make a solid player. I’m pretty reliable for TPE earning. I’m a veteran member who can contribute to LR activity and even pitch in ideas from a management perspective.

What to Expect.. So it was three months ago when my son was born, when I pretty much declared that I needed to take a break. I was nearing the end of my run with Hard Markinson, and I was feeling a little burnt out anyways. The idea of at least one season as a rest period has been on my mind for a while. I know after my players Ethan Osborne and then Jake Wylde, I was completely exhausted. I pushed through with Unassisted and Rhett DeGrath, but then completely lost motivation and ended up going inactive. I knew I didn’t want that again. The last thing I want to do is have a GM draft me based on an expectation, and then get let down. That’s why after running Benny Graves and then Markinson, while also doing some AGM duties, I knew I needed a little time. In addition to that, I wanted to address things in a more formal way; a Media Spot. TPE Earning As of right now I think I can manage max earnings. At the very least I can lean on the pension plan and then build my TPE out from there to get my 12+. There’s a part of me that wants to say that I’m going to turn into a clicker, and just come around for the sims, but I know that won’t be the case. I still love max earning and I really love having an elite player. I enjoy driving my draft stock as high as I can (although always just being selected 2nd Overall). I’m sure there might be many that are even surprised to see a Media Spot as my first point task rather than a graphic. While I would like to say I’m trying to expand my horizons and push my creativity - the reality is that I have a 3 month old baby sleeping next to me so I can’t really be on my main PC that has photoshop. In saying that, I would like to do more Media Spots. I would also even entertain the idea of joining a podcast as a guest. I even played with the idea of doing a podcast while streaming myself making graphics for the league. Obviously there’s a time constraint - if I have the time and availability I might push forward with those ideas. At the very least I know I can lean into my strengths which is graphic making. I know that not only can I make one or two a week pretty effortlessly, but it does bring some enjoyment to other members of the community. VHL Destination Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m always willing to play on any team. That doesn’t really change here. I’m very open to playing on all teams for really any GM. I’ve been on at least half the teams in the VHL, and have proudly had full careers on at least four franchises. I consider that a rarity, and more the fact that I really enjoyed the GM’s that I had. I would obviously love to land on a team that has a great locker room and a vision that coincides with mine - however, I can’t guarantee that will happen. I will be less likely to commit to a team for a full career without having an in depth conversation with management. I just want that to be known going in. I would rather not test free agency, but with this player I don’t think I will be as patient as I have in the past to be on a competitive team. I would like to be on team that is competing in 6 of my 8 seasons with Analfist. Overall Activity So what version of STZ will you all get? I guess that is the big question that even I myself can’t answer. It will be dependent on a number of things. Number one being, how my real life is going. Adjusting to life with a newborn has been a challenge. This is my second child, but I am a little older than my first, so the lack of sleep has hit me harder. I’m also in a bigger position at work, so my focus outside of my kids is really pulled towards work. With that being said I do love this community and the league itself, so I think there will always be time allocated for this place. I would love to say I’ll be online every day, and I’ll be super active in discord and have a league job.. The truth is, I really don’t know if that is in the cards for me anymore. I think I might just be a member who lurks from the shadows and follows sims while being active in my team discord. That might be disappointing news, or it might not, but it definitely has a strong possibility of being what my activity level will be. It is probably for the best anyways. My time here has been a lot of fun, and I’ve made a lot of great players, and had a ton of great memories. But there is a changing of the guard, and I don’t necessarily think it is bad for me to stay here with an active player, but have a diminished role in the community. I look forward to what this player will do, even if he is a bit memey, and will be more of a casual build. I know I want to gear up for a really killer player when the S100 comes around. I think the idea of having a player that is dedicated to my original player as well as my son is cool, and would actually make for a pretty cool player name and premise. So I have that in my back pocket for the future. I have about 25 more words to go, so I might as well go on here. One of the biggest things I missed during my three months off was the time with some of the members I got to know in my run with Markinson. I’ve missed the game nights in Moscow, and I hope as soon as my son sleeps through the night I’ll be able to jump back into games with members. I’ve been truly blessed with an amazing family, so in no way am I complaining, but I do miss having some drinks and shooting the shit with all the different members of this community. 1082 Words Claiming WK Dec. 19-25 and WK Dec. 26-1

S.nubbed Analfist Prospect Scouting Report Analfist Declares for the VHLM On Monday December the 12th, 2022, S.nubbed Analfist declared for the VHLM. Not a lot of hype was created as the middle aged prospect was coming into the league right after the trade deadline as teams were gearing up to make their playoff push. By this time, most of the top rosters were set, and the addition of depth players might just mess with the balance of the teams. There was virtually no interest generated for Analfist who had to reach out to teams himself to find a home to prove his worth before the off-season’s VHLM Dispersal Draft. Analfist Signs in Houston Analfist looked at his options for teams to join as he declared his eligibility for the VHL minor system. The big contending teams were all showing “full” and unable to join so Analfist knew he would need to decide between a few mid-tier teams. At first glance, Analfist thought that there would be a proper fit with him and the Ottawa Lynx. There was a need for wingers, and his play style was something the Lynx could likely use in the playoffs. However, after reaching out to the team, S.nubbed did not hear back from the management team so took that as a sign of non-interest. During this time he was then easily persuaded to take a look at the Houston Bulls team. After a quick glance and meeting with a very eager and energetic GM, Analfist decided to sign a one year 1.5 million dollar deal. Analfist will help Houston make a push towards playoffs, as he draws in on their top line. Future Outlook The future looks bright for this up and coming VHL Player. We are still a few seasons away from draft day for this prospect, however there is speculation that he could be a top draft pick. He will likely be drafted in the later stages of the first round this off-season in the VHLM Dispersal Draft. There are some insiders who have noted that this player with the size and skill, could be a top five draft pick when he enters the VHL Draft. VHL Teams have already been heard that scouts will be sent to Houston to do some long-range scouting of this player who could very well be a cornerstone player for a VHL team in 3-4 seasons. Analfist is still kind of a cryptic prospect. Not much is known from the 45 year old out of Vasteras, Sweden. The size alone has generated some hype - while after 10 games in Houston he has shown flashes of brilliance and a knack of finding the back of the net already. This is a story worth following and a prospect that every VHL team should have on their radar.
