Phantoms rushing to get two stars back out on the ice

As has been well publicized by @Sebster03, players Seabass Perrin and Alex Pearson have had some substance abuse issues, and were sent off to team-mandated rehab with the league's official program, the VSAP. Recently, it's been reported that due to COVID-19 issues, the VSAP is shut down until further notice, which has unfortunately left both Perrin and Pearson with uncompleted programs. This unfortunately would mean they wouldn't be eligible to start the season with the Phantoms if nothing changed, although it's a bit odd that the VHL has decided to carry on with the season, but halt other non-playing groups such as the VSAP. Fortunately, prior to taking on the role as the head of the Phantoms, GM Jason Glasser worked for corporate of a group of 25 hospitals centered in Pittsburgh, PA, in "central admissions" - a role comprised of a lot of little things, but the main thing was centered around the computer side of moving patients around and making them appear correctly with inpatient types, accommodation codes, etc. It was a rather boring job but it paid the bills well, so he did this for much of his life before taking on GMing professionally. One such function that correlates to the problem at hand was discharging patients to different locations - to home, to different skilled nursing facilities, deceased with or without autopsy, and to different rehab facilities (both for medical rehab to regain bodily function, and for drug and alcohol detox). One of his coworkers at his old job used to work at a facility called Resolve, and knew some of the rehab specialists from there. After a few quick phone calls and emails, GM Glasser managed to fly in one of these specialists to Prague on the team's charter plane. While the plane was already in the air, putting the league in a bit of a tight spot, GM Glasser talked with league officials to get this new specialist approved and a final schedule and program sent over that both the league and the specialist approved of. Ultimately, it was required that a member of VSAP would have to be hired, at the Phantoms' expense, to oversee the program. This was not a problem at all, since they weren't spending a lot on the specialist, and the VSAP members were out of jobs entirely and so weren't particularly demanding of wages. The VSAP member that was brought on board would have to report back to the league, ideally only for positive progress, but also for any setbacks if there were any. Pearson and Perrin would be able to compete in the upcoming season, provided that three meetings occurred before opening day, and that there were no further violations as the season went on. This is where things stand at the moment. The first meeting is underway as of the time of writing, and two more are scheduled prior to opening day, with seven additional meetings planned during the early part of the season but not yet scheduled. The Phantoms have even segmented off a few rows at the front of the team charter plane in case a meeting needs to be scheduled in flight. 527 words

Going into this draft, the Prague Phantoms only had a 1st and two 4ths, and weren't really expecting to get much out of it other than at the top. Originally I'd been looking into dealing the 1st down a few spots (spoiler after the fact, if the trade down would have cost me @Doomsday, the backup option would have been @Proto, so I couldn't really move too far). Ideally, this trade would have netted me a late 2nd or so - no real targets in that area, but I like to have guys in the pipeline and we really haven't had that since Ben McGirr @cartoes made it up to the bigs last season. No trade materialized that I was comfortable with - a few decent offers on the value side of things, but value doesn't necessarily mean it's what we want. No real issue - couldn't stock the cupboard, but I was able to grab the guy I'd had in my sights for over a season. As the draft went on, I started looking into the guys down the board a bit. I spotted one guy who TPE-wise would have been a decent fit with my 41st pick, but was one of the few guys left on the board who'd actually written a media and did some press conferences. I opened up Woody McPine's @HearnNation67 update log and saw not only a guy who would and should go before 41, but a guy who was going under the radar massively based largely on the timeline of when he joined. Moved some pieces around, jumped up into the late 3rd (crucially without giving up 41, but 44 instead) and managed to pick up McPine. At 41, the top guys were primarily welfare and practice facility, which isn't really going to create a star, but done consistently that'll net you a solid 2nd liner upon reaching their prime. I looked through some guys and one of the most consistent ones left, and a guy I'm definitely happy to have added to the pipeline, was Jack John @GoadenGoalie35. If a welfare and practice facility guy picks up some extras here and there, training camps, theme week pts, that sort of thing, you get Alex Pearson @Jayrad28 who is one of my best guys from the expansion draft - if John becomes another Pearson, I'm very happy with that, especially from the 4th.

Looking back at Moscow's Expansion Draft
diamond_ace replied to Victor's topic in Archived Media Spots
It wasn't a save at all - more of a clarification. It's perfectly fine to discuss events that have occurred in the past, or to speculate on those that might have. I knew people (like you right now) were going to come in and start joking about tampering though, and didn't want a newer person who might think you were serious to be concerned I was actually doing anything out of the ordinary -
Looking back at Moscow's Expansion Draft
diamond_ace replied to Victor's topic in Archived Media Spots
There was originally talk that you'd be exposed for the Prague/DC expansion draft. You ultimately were protected, but originally people were saying you wouldn't be. Had you not been, you'd have looked awfully nice in purple the last few seasons... (no comment on current or future seasons, as you are under contract elsewhere) -
3 picks - 35th overall, Woody McPine

Any player who created/will create between Sunday 15th at 9:33 PM (the time @Toast created Larry Butz) and Tuesday 17th at 12 Noon eastern: These players will be waiver players, and are free to sign with any team, but must wait 12 hours to sign so teams in other time zones can offer. It's not often that we have a big wave of players waiting to sign at once, and so in this instance and this instance alone, we're going to put back in the waiting period. For example, we have @Berocka living in Australia for whom 12 Noon is 2 AM - he shouldn't really have to miss out on a wave of 10 or so players. Anyone who will create after 12 Noon is free to sign as they will. @Banackock @VHLM GM

Pearson and Perrin in some legal troubles
diamond_ace replied to Seabass's topic in Archived Media Spots
Yeah you guys will have to enter the program, just to make sure there aren't any problems. No suspension though, no fine, in fact team ownership is paying to replace what was stolen. We take care of our guys. -
Finals GM 6: Moscow Menace vs. Calgary Wranglers
diamond_ace replied to VHL Games's topic in S70 Games
Have to admit as a guy who was eliminated by Moscow twice this season (GM and Havlova for Prague, Kefka for Calgary) I should be madder about this than I am. Good stories are good stories though, and @wcats is one hell of a story. Happy for you guys in general but especially for an expansion draft guy to win it, got a few of those left myself that I'm hoping to manage it with. -
Rift & Calgary In The Cup Finals + A Trip Down Memory Lane

Even more ironically, I'm on Calgary with you this season -
2 of the busts were actually 2 of the guys I thought would be steals. The third... not so much.

@NumberJ5 is Frobe, he's one of my Prague guys. Pretty sure some of the others are @hewasajazzman @Dilly Dilly @PadStack @Harpskii @Spaz

Any relation to Dimitar Berbatov?

Yeah did not expect the guy who brought us the pretty solid Oleksiy Revchenko to have a follow up performance on this level. @AndrewWarren13 knows he's been slacking but I trust him to turn it around enough to be viable. He has a season and a half yet (although an insurance policy wouldn't hurt)

@TacticalHammer @Sebster03 @Jayrad28 @Bucky___lastard @BladeMaiden 2nd overall as a team, top 5 in 4 out of 5 events

Rio isn't particularly similar in latitude to Cairo. Your map even shows it - Cairo is well above the equator (actually slightly more north than Dubai) and Rio is well below it.

Prague: Hardest Shot: Teagan Glover @Bucky___lastard Shooting Stars: Roll Fizzlebeef @TacticalHammer Fastest Skater: Seabass Perrin @Sebster03 Accuracy Shooting: Alex Pearson @Jayrad28 Save Streak: Brick Wahl @BladeMaiden Prague players: I want you guys to know I did this by a formula, based on your existing attributes - in the one case I had to tiebreak, the guy I didn't pick I feel like will be a top choice for 2-3 categories next season, whereas the guy I did pick was more specialized to the one thing. I'll outline this in the discord in a minute.

I'll be home in half hour, will do them then. So close to doing them that I prob wouldn't even be bothering to tell you when, if not for the tag ?
