Theme Update

We've been slowly working on improving the VHL 50 theme and it isn't finished but today we release what I hope is a slightly more tolerable edition. As you know, we recently ran a banner competition. @gorlab was the creator of the winning banner and as such he can claim 5 TPE. Now unfortunately I didn't do a great job investigating the theme before opening the competition, so some banners ended up not working so well. It seems the banners either need to be very big (mostly wide) or created in a way that lets us put some kind of background behind them, like the one you probably see as you read this. Otherwise, they seem to get distorted when it tries to enlarge them which makes sense in hindsight. 

 

So that is all fairly unfortunate. However, I have enabled this handy banner-picker so you guys can choose the banner you prefer. Right now there's only 3 'real' ones but I'm hoping some kind souls will create some more to add. Anyway, you can customize the banner by clicking on this button:

 

 

If anyone has further suggestions on how this theme can be improved, post them in this topic and I'll try it out if it's within the realm of capabilities. Or if you want to, you know, create more banners, do that too. Who knows, there might be something in it for you.

You can also click on the 'Browse' button which scrolls down with the page as you scroll.

I don't know about "harder". Maybe less convenient? I don't know, it's never bothered me.

Good, because the actual banner I want to use, which is the straight VHL logo with the broken glass/water effects is all mushed, so it looks like ass.

Having the banner not be clickable doesn't make a huge deal on the computer but getting back to the main board on mobile is way harder with it like this. It's very simple coding to have the banner redirect to the main page so it shouldn't be hard to implement at all.

Sadly not as simple as on the other themes. On the other themes, the banner comes straight from an <img> tag so thats easy. The problem with this one, is the banner comes from a CSS background-image element, which I haven't figured out how to linkify yet :/

 

i could try to put a transparent image over top of it but I'd have to make sure not to interfere with the menu and shit.

Can't code the element into the link in the same way that you would normally code an image tag?
