Accept.  I really don't want to move Toriyama but this draft is looking good and I have a chance at grabbing another solid prospect with that first.  Appreciate everything Streetlight has done for New York and I wish him the best of luck in Vasteras (he will have to waive his NTC).

Vasteras accepts. Definitely sucks to lose a S37 1st, but for a player of Toriyama's caliber, you have to. I'm very happy to bring in Streetlight, a guy who I respected very much when I first joined the league (and still do). He is having an amazing season and I'm hoping to see him and Janssen continue to light it up on a line together.

Wow. I go into this on the Pajodcast but just wow. If you look at it in the big picture, Chris traded a S37 Vasteras 2nd round pick for Toriyama. So by proxy, the trade has pretty much become.

And Jason pretty much turned me into a free second round pick. But I would actually say that Chris traded more than a 2nd round pick for me, unless you want to say that Tremblay and I had the same value in that trade (I would not say that, by the way).

The trade was originally a 2nd for Tremblay.  Then we added a 2nd to get you.

If you want to be a dick you may face palm whenever you want. But trading for an inactive and trading for an active who is among the league's leading scorers are two very different things.

Victor, I love Streetlight as a member but he has himself said he doesn't know if he will even stick it out full with him. He has been off and on active his entire career and it could even be argued that Street is not worth a 1st round pick by itself, much less the rest of what happened in this deal.

what else happened in this deal? two 3rds and a cap dump? HOLY OVERPAYMENT BATMAN! If any seller in the post-expansion doesn't get a 1st for a player who's not a pending FA and isn't retiring, they're a shit seller (this is something you could call Corco out on, but he's recovered well enough).

I apologize if I come off as a dick, as I have supported tons of Corco's move in the past and criticized others. I just think that at the end of the day a high end depth player like Toriyama is not worth a 1st, two thirds, and two low end depth players. Street has a super high salary, has had consistency issues regarding this current player. All negatives. Yet Corco gave up probably the most anyone could get for Street at this point. Which is saying something imo.

Those two depth players had to be moved to make cap room for another player.

And also, what do you want me to do? End up like Seattle with a plethora of 1st round picks, yet still have to fight to make the playoffs? Everybody glamorizes first round picks like they are diamonds, yet they don't always work out. Look at it like this, in terms of first round pick success, from S30-S35 (too early to determine S36):

S30 Round One
1.  HELSINKI TITANS: Ethan Osborne, 135 TPE
2.  CALGARY WRANGLERS: Yuri Grigorenko, 191 TPE
3.  RIGA REIGN: Alexander Valiq, 171 TPE
4.  SEATTLE BEARS (from Vasteras): Adam Harris, 120 TPE BUST
5.  NEW YORK AMERICANS: Jeff Phinney, 123 TPE BUST

2.  COLOGNE EXPRESS: Kameron Taylor
3.  TORONTO LEGION (from Riga): Nikita Lebedev
4.  HELSINKI TITANS: Till Lindemann
5.  VASTERAS IRON EAGLES: Samu Heiskanen - Semi-bust
6.  TORONTO LEGION: Remy LeBeau
7.  VASTERAS IRON EAGLES (from New York): Malcom Spud
8.  COLOGNE EXPRESS (from Davos via New York): David Poulin BUST
9.  HELSINKI TITANS (from Seattle): Felix Leiter BUST
10. QUEBEC CITY MEUTE (from Calgary): Sergey Brovalenko

S32 Round One
1.  TORONTO LEGION: Jack Sound
2.  QUEBEC CITY MEUTE: Niklas Valiq
3.  HELSINKI TITANS (from Vasteras via Seattle): Anatoli Zhumbayev

8.  CALGARY WRANGLERS: Chico Salmon
9.  SEATTLE BEARS (from New York): Matt Rielly BUST
10.  CALGARY WRANGLERS (from Davos via New York): Cody Inko

S33 Round One
1.  HC DAVOS DYNAMO: Wesley Kellinger
2.  SEATTLE BEARS: Karsten Olsen
3.  TORONTO LEGION: Odin Tordahl

6.  NEW YORK AMERICANS: D - Conner Low
7.  SEATTLE BEARS (from Riga): RW - Brennan McQueen
8.  COLOGNE EXPRESS (from Quebec via Davos via Riga): C - Frédérik Ernst BUST
9.  HC DAVOS DYNAMO (from Calgary): LW - Earl Parker BUST
10.  HELSINKI TITANS: D - Tyler Owens - Semi-bust

Now, I'm just going to assume that Cologne is going to continue to sell, so that Vasteras will not have a lottery pick, so now look at the boom/bust ratio of non-lottery picks.

I'm not saying that the S37 VAS 1st will be a bust, however I don't think assuming that it will be a player that reaches Toriyama's current TPE is correct either.
