Another Odinsson? Fuck.

Earlier today and after much deliberation, I finally took the plunge and headed to the portals "Create a Player" section. It's been a while since I had a player here in the mighty VHL, but the lure of the place, combined with ever more regular logins to Discord, finally convinced me that it was time to get back here. I've had several players, from Vladimir Boomchenko to Vaydar Odinsson and Bismarck Koenig, but the glory of my best player Odin Tordahl was possibly the worst thing that could have happened. After his retirement, the doubt set in that I could ever develop a player into anything remotely resembling Tordahl's success. I was probably correct. Members who know me a little more than just "Boom", know that I tend to put a lot of pressure on myself, which in turn can lead to disillusionment and thoughts that my time of being relevant in the VHL is over. I believe that happened with Odin, and I never really enjoyed being here with my subsequent players.

 

After Vaydar Odinsson(who obviously shares the surname of my new player, Gunnar) it was time to take a break from what was becoming a weekly grind to earn the maximum TPE. I was viewing GFX and the other tasks as chores and was increasingly lacking the desire to get them done before the weekly deadlines. I dropped by occasionally just to see who was active and generally what was going on, but the desire to recreate just wasn't there. That was until I listened to @Berocka and @dasboot with the "One and a half Aussies" podcast. Hearing them and knowing they were down here as well and involved in the VHL was the catalyst that made the decision to create again, that much easier. It reminded me of being on the Pajodcast occasionally with @Advantage and @Devise where I always enjoyed talking with them and listening to what they had to say. So I'd like to say thanks to those guys, plus others who talked to me about coming back in the league discord. People like @gorlab @OrbitingDeath  @BladeMaiden @Banackock @Peace Ferk and others who know they answered my questions have all been a great help. 

 

So here I am, with Gunnar Odinsson, the nephew of crappy four season VHL'er, Vaydar Odinsson the former Titan, American and Nighthawk. He won't be anything special. No superstar, first liner or stat leading defenseman, but that's OK. He's not meant to be. He's just the reason to be here, active and enjoying what the VHL and it's incredible members have to offer. A place to hang out, talk shit and occasionally care about sim results.

 

I've missed it and am damn glad to be back.

@BOOM™ so happy to see you back, you were always one of the best of late night crew! It’s great to hear that your aussie brethren are what tempted you back, just like seeing more ladies got me wanting to be involved here more as well  all I have to say is that it is always a good day wheni see boom hit up the VHL. Congratulations on Gunner I hope we get to play together this time Boom!
