@Daniel The league will need goalies soon all the all star goalies are retiring you could really be in demand if you stick to this character

That's actually a big relief I was pretty unaware what the situation would be like going in lol, good to hear that there should be some opportunities to do well

  2. My real attempt at making my first legitimate VHL player since Dmitri Dadonov started today and I decided to create another goalie because I actually really enjoyed it last time, this one being called Arvid Aamo. I wanted to go with something unique with this player, and that started with giving him a nationality I've never used in a league before and as Norway seems like a pretty fucking cool place I decided to go with that as his homeland. Then I needed to come up with a name; the names of my last few failed attempts at making a player in this league were all shitty rush jobs I'd thought up in the space of a few minutes so I decided to actually do some research into Norwegian names and find something that sounded cool. I wanted there to be alliteration with the two names of the player and I thought the second name Aamo sounded really cool, and thus Arvid Aamo came into existence, for what I hope will be a very long time. Returning to goaltender again should be fun as I actually managed to make a somewhat okay attempt at it last time, I'm honestly looking forward to getting somewhere again with Aamo and achieving some good things I hope.

    Player name: Arvid Aamo

    Hometown: Tromsø, Norway

    Position: Goaltender

    Height: 6'1"

    Weight:  210lbs

    Team: Undrafted

Hailing from the Scandinavian hockey wasteland of Norway comes a young man with aspirations to make a real name for himself and move beyond any existing doubts about his character that come from his dubious choice of player representation. Arvid Aamo is an agile goaltender with a natural ability in the net, someone who has a real instinct for making saves and can be the kind of player to give teams a tough opponent between the pipes. Although little has been seen from Aamo in his short career so far, perhaps the makings of the VHL's next great netminder lies within this unassuming young man with a lot to prove.

    POSITIVES

    +Natural Ability

Aamo possesses great instincts in the net, being able to track pucks and get his body in line with shooters and the areas of the net they're targeting. He's very adept at taking on opponents in close, being able to close down the angles and take away the desired shooting area. If on occasion he is facing high pressure he can often rely on his inherent skill to pull off something spectacular and get him and the team out of harm's way for the time being.

    +Temperament

One of the biggest assets that Aamo has is his willingness to learn and develop his game, and his unassuming nature. There isn't any sort of ego in the way that he goes about getting things done and it's to his credit that he can focus solely on his game and cast any other distractions and unnecessary wastes of time and work on improving as a player and a person.

     +Hockey IQ

Although it's something of a cliche, it's no exaggeration to say that Aamo has a very impressive hockey IQ. He can read the game at an incredible rate and with unnerving accuracy, making him a real asset not just on the ice but in the video room when it comes to helping draw up team strategies. Aamo can bring a lot to a team beyond what he does on the ice and that's something that may help him when it comes to his future.

    GettyImages-900900736.jpg?itok=lJmA8hKd

    NEGATIVES

    -Inexperience

Spending his whole life so far in his native land of Norway, Aamo has so far had little experience against quality opposition and so it's not been too easy to judge just how much of a talent he could be when it comes to making a transition to the VHLM and eventually the VHL. It looks like he might have the basic game in place that could translate well to the level of play required for the tougher competition, but only time will tell and there is much development required before that time comes.

    -Size

As goaltenders go, Aamo is definitely among the smaller side of those making their way in the modern game. Standing at just over 6 foot, Aamo simply isn't able to cover as much of the net as some of his opposition, leaving him at an inherent disadvantage. If Aamo can bring his level of play up to the next level to negate this then it shouldn't be too much of an issue, but for now it's something that does not stand in his favour and something that scouts could potentially hold against him.

    -Player Agent

Aamo's controversial choice of player agent is a big question mark against his draft stock in the future. The Daniel agency has produced one good VHL player in the 4 players it has previously represented, something that GMs will be well aware of and a factor that Aamo will have to work to overcome if he is to be given a real chance to succeed.

Not quite sure of the tint going on. The mix of green/yellow background is really clashing with the blue of the helmet and the white of the jersey, which creates a switch of focus quick rapidly. The render efx are nice. The text is meh, but its no big deal

Agreed about the colours looking at it now man, I've changed it so it looks a bit more cohesive imo

    CARRYING ON THE TRADITION

Today brought the news of the declaration of VHL eligibility from a new prospect who is hoping to carry on the family tradition of achievement in hockey.  Theo Karlsson, a left wing from Örnsköldsvik, Sweden is the nephew of SHL veteran Sven Karlsson and the cousin of upcoming SMJHL prospect Daniel Karlsson; although the rest of his family has chosen to pursue their dreams of hockey stardom in the SHL, Theo has opted to instead try his luck in the VHL. A goalscoring forward with a very physical side to his game, Theo brings a strong power forward skill set to the game, having the ability to both make space for his linemates to make plays by laying out big hits and winning the puck, and the skill to score big goals when required. Karlsson plays a different game to the rest of his family, with his uncle being a defensively minded forward but one who typically shies away from being overly physical, and his cousin being more of a dazzling offensive player than any sort of two-way force, and he hopes it is this edge to his game that will make him stand out early on. When asked about his decision to join the VHL as opposed to the SHL, Theo told us: "The decision I made to join the VHL was actually a surprisingly easy one for me. I've grown up watching my uncle play in the SHL and I take a lot of inspiration from him but the global nature of the VHL and the ability to make my mark and play hockey all over the world was an opportunity that was impossible to pass up on for me. I hope I'll be able to make the kind of immediate impact I'm hoping for when I play in the VHLM next season".

    631520076.0.jpg

Karlsson will be a prospect in the upcoming VHLM Draft, and although he is hopeful of going to a destination where he will be given some good opportunities eventually, he told us he understood that responsibility might not come for some time, but he was ultimately fine with that. Theo told us "I understand that it will take a lot of time to prove myself in the league and prove that I'm a serious player, who is here for the long haul". Theo has been accused of being something of a flash in the pan during his previous years, not the kind of long term investment a team feels like they can rely on for the long run. It is up to him to prove that things are different and that he can be a consistent and reliable presence. To conclude, Theo stated "I believe I have a lot to offer a team and there is plenty that I can bring to the table. There is a lot of growth required but I think there is quite clearly room for me to grow within myself and become a better player, and I intend on doing exactly that". Theo Karlsson will bring something slightly different to the table than what his family has become known for in the world of hockey, and it could prove to be an interesting journey to watch the progress of. First step, the VHLM Draft.

  11. So basically the long and short of it is I started DJing around this time last year and playing house parties and small raves for about six months now, and so decided this year to do a monthly mix series where I'd record one of my live sets every month and post it to Soundcloud. A lot of it is to help myself track my own progress and see where I need to improve but it would also be nice to have some people check out what I'm doing and give their thoughts on it. It may not be your thing but give it a whirl and who knows, it's all house/techno music so nice dancey stuff for the most part. I've put a link to February's mix below, January's is on my Soundcloud too if you want more. I'll come back and post each new one up here every month as they go online, feedback is welcomed.
