Best piece of advice I can give you is work smaller. This would be considered an LP (Large Piece) which means its much harder to get right than a sig, as a Wallpaper is harder. Simply put, the more congas you have to fill the harder a piece is to make. Work with a sig size canvas (400x200 is a decent place to start) and work up from there.

As for the actual piece, get yourself some stocks and learn how different settings affect them. Right now this looks like a photo with a few filters and some text which is fine to start yourself off but it won't get you too far. Also, don't be afraid to go simple with the font. It sounds counterproductive but working with implicated fonts just limits what you can do with them. I've done better things with Arial and Helvetica than I ever could with something elaborate.

Jackim put up a very good beginners guide HERE which you should definitely give a read. It covers a lot of the basics to help people out. Follow some tutorials and look at what others are doing, you'll get the hang of it eventually.

The VHL seems to be a day behind the VHLM in regular season simming, which is due to them not having such a committed and reliable simmer like the VHLM does, even though there is a back up simmer for the VHL.

Deschamps taken out by trip to Mongolian Grill
Bern, Switzerland -- Brampton centre Maxime Deschamps is expected to be a game-time decision in the team's upcoming game against the Bern Royals as a result of food poisoning suffered from a trip to the Mongolian Grill prior to the team's departure overseas.
The 20-year-old confirmed reports that getting seafood in your stir-fry from the popular Japanese buffet-style restaurant is always a poor decision and not one you should consider anytime soon.
"People told me to be wary of the seafood but I decided to get some anyways. Obviously it wasn't the right play because I've been seeing what it looks like coming out the other direction," Deschamps said.
After being bed-ridden on Sunday, Deschamps did make the flight with the team but is expected to take a wait-and-see approach ahead of tomorrow night's game.
"I'm hoping to be in the lineup, that's the plan right now. I'll eat some normal food before now and then and hopefully things settle accordingly."

Latino in The News: Catching Up with Flip

Last time we spoke with Felipe "Flip" Rodriguez, he had just scored his first goal. Today, we speak to him after 45 games in the VHLM. He's sitting at nine goals and 20 assists. If you remember last time we asked Flip what his goals were for the season.  At the time, he said,"If I can get close to 10 goals and 40 points this year, I will consider it a good year.  Anything more than that is just great."
Let's see what he thinks about his stats now that he has a few more games under his belt.
Reporter: " It's been a while since we last sat down for a chat. How have you been since then?"
Felipe: "It has been a while, hasn't it? I have been great. Hitting the gym as often as I can. Hitting the rink to work on my skating. Practicing and watching lots and lots of film to work on my defensive game."
Reporter: "It seems like your work has been paying off. We have noticed an improvement on both sides of the puck. A lot more hits and shots being blocked by you, we have noticed. You are looking like a more well-rounded defenseman out there."
Felipe: "Thanks, glad to see someone else noticing."
Reporter: " One other thing we noticed was shortly after the acquisition of Sam Weaver, you were taken completely off the power play, any idea why?"
Felipe: "Maybe the coach forgot how to spell my name? [laughs] No, no, no, in all seriousness, I wasn't taking advantage of my power play time like I should have been. Coach knows what's best for the team and if that means me sitting on the bench with the man advantage, so be it. Weaver has a lot of talent, especially on offense, so it wasn't a big deal to lose ice time to him, you've seem his stat line the first few games he played for us. That being said, I'm glad to be back on the first PP unit and I expect to put more points up or I'll be riding pine again."
Reporter: "Last time we spoke, I joked saying maybe next time we'll hear from you after your first hat trick. Well, 45 games in and still no hat trick. Do you think you'll get a hat trick your rookie year?"
Felipe: "I wish I could answer that with certainty but with 20 games left, it's hard to say. I'll just say "Maybe" for now."
Reporter: "You're currently one goal shy of your prediction but 10 assists short. Did you over estimate?"
Felipe: "Not really, a few multi point games in a row and I'll reach my goal. I didn't expect to have 9 goals already so this is a great place to be in."
Reporter: "Thanks again for your time, Flip. Would you like to sign us off?"
Felipe: "This is Felipe Rodriguez for Latino in the News, don't forget to tune in next time."
That is all for this edition of Latino in The News.  We'll catch up with Felipe again very soon. Hopefully next time he'll have reached his season goals.

    A Look at The Numbers
Let’s take a look at the numbers for the two teams that have clinched a playoff spot in the VHLM North American Conference, the Ottawa Lynx and the Brampton Blades.
First, let’s look at record and points.  Ottawa has won a staggering 47 out of 57 games so far with 10 losses and zero overtime losses to earn 94 points.  Brampton, however, has only managed to win 32 games with 21 losses and four losses in overtime for 68 points.  There is no chance Brampton will catch Ottawa by the time the season is over.
Despite the difference in records, Brampton has a better power play percentage, 24.37% putting them in 1st overall over 2nd place Ottawa at 22.22%. Also, Brampton has a better penalty kill percentage 82.33% over Ottawa’s 81.60%, 3rd and 4th place respectively. Brampton does have the most penalty minutes with 656 so if they face off against Ottawa’s 2nd place power play in the off season, it will be an interesting storyline to follow.
The biggest differential between the two teams’ statistics is in goals for.  Ottawa has 63 more goals for so far, 254 to Brampton’s 181.  That is more than a goal per game difference.  If Brampton wants to win any post season series, they’ll need their offense to match Ottawa’s intensity and they’ll need to maintain composure and stay out of the sin bin.
That’s all for this Look at The Numbers.

As some of you might know, I´m a huge fan of mustaches. I had to shave my mustache off few months ago and now for the past three or so weeks, I have been trying to grow them back. Shaving my ´stache was/is easily the worst thing I have done in the last two years.
My face feels so empty without them. For some reason I´m struggling with the mustache growing now. Cant really think why? Maybe I´m too stressed? Is there something wrong with my diet? Those are only some of the questions that keep me up at night. Lack of mustache is not only effecting my sleep, but it´s also having a clear impact on my efforts on the ice. When I´m skating really fast, the wind hits my face really weirdly.  I don´t like it.  It´s even worse if I´m walking down the street.  People point and laugh. I´m quite famous here in my neighborhood, mostly because of my mustache.
We can only hope that I manage to grow my mustache back soon.

    1. D - John Sleeman: The consensus first overall pick, Sleeman will be a top point scorer and could lead the VHLM in assists next season. He may end up playing in the VHL instead because of his high TPE total, but he is clearly the top player and will help the playoff chances of any team he lands on.
    2. D – Felipe Rodriguez: Rodriguez has opened the eyes of many around the league and is highly coveted by all the GM’s within the VHLM. With his new job as a VHLM GM, Rodriguez will get the benefit of an extra TPE per week, further helping his cause. I foresee him going second overall and rivaling Sleeman for the top defenseman in the league.
    3. G – Artom Zhumbayev: Zhumbayev will be the first goalie taken off the board, most likely third overall. There is a chance that one of the re-creates such as Jakab Holik, Kendrick Cole, or Unassisted could jump up the board in the coming weeks, but Artom seems to have gained the trust of the current GM’s and won’t last long.
    4. D – Sam Weaver: Like Rodriguez, Weaver was recently named a VHLM GM and will get the benefit of the extra point per week. That isn’t the only reason he will be drafted this high, though. Weaver has proved himself to be an outstanding prospect who will bring a positive attitude to any locker room.
    5. C – Unassisted: Clearly the best offensive prospect in the draft, Unassisted will likely be the fifth player off the board. Striving to become the first player to score an unassisted goal in the VHLM, he will make whoever drafts him happy with his ability to pass and score out of the center position. His activity is unquestioned and might even be a candidate for VHLM MVP next season when all is said and done.
    6. G – Jakab Holik: Currently the second best goaltending prospect in the draft, Holik brings a trusted name to the league and a high TPE total from his carryover. Holik has already proved that he can be a dominant player in his short time with Oslo after they picked him up off of the waiver wire, beating the first place Bern Royals. It will be interesting to see if he goes higher than this after his blistering start to his career.
    7. RW – Kendrick Cole: Cole comes from another popular name, DGFX. Everyone around the league knows what this guy can bring to the table if he stays active. While he will likely drop to the end of the first round, Cole should end up being one of the top offensive players in the VHLM next season.
    8. RW – Mikhail Gribov: What looked like a sure fire top five selection a week ago, Gribov drops down to the start of the second round after the recent influx of re-creates. As long as he continues to prove himself, Gribov will be equally as important as those guys are to any VHLM who drafts him.
    9. C – Vincent Adultman: In the same boat as Gribov, Adultman might have to settle for an early second round selection because of the talent ahead of him. The center position is a very important one, so he might end up going higher than this depending on what the draft order ends up being.

With the influx of new players joining the league, I thought it'd be a good idea to rank them for this fan 590. This may end up being a preview for a media spot later in the week where I'll expand on my choices.
1.D - Felipe Rodriguez: Felipe is a VHLM GM and will benefit from that extra point each week, hyper active, and solid defensemen are hard to come by.

    2. D - Sam Weaver: As with Felipe, Weaver is now a VHLM GM and very active, will be a great addition to any team for next season.
    3. G - Artom Zhumbayev: The top goalie in the draft, Artom is improving quickly and definitely the next best player available
    4. C - Unassisted: There may finally be unassisted goals!!! Way to be creative there.
    5. RW - Kendrick Cole: Shitty name, but should turn out to be a great player next season.
    6. G - Jakab Holik: I want to pronounce your name "Jack - ab" but I know that just sounds stupid and isn't right. How hard is it to just put Jacob?
    7. RW - Mikhail Gribov: "Michael" Gribov is suprisingly going to drop to the end of the first round with all of the new recreates.
    8. C - Vincent Adultman: If his username is any indication, he is going to turn out to be a great player.

Deschamps encouraged to stop hurting VHLM players, says 'F U'
Brampton, Ont. -- In the wake of several serious injuries inflicted on opposing players this season, Brampton Blades forward Maxime Deschamps has been politely asked by the league to stop injuring fellow players. Despite the politeness of the letter, seeing that it was penned by none other than former (?) VHL Commissioner JARDY, Deschamps politely responded by telling the washed up executive to **** off.
In his victory lap season with the Blades, Deschamps has become a physical force in the league, racking up a league-best 218 hits in only 51 games played. The fun doesn't end there, either, as Deschamps also leads the league with 103 minutes in penalties earned despite only five major penalties during the season.
Where does it stem from? Well you see Deschamps is far from a talent with the puck, and while his 49 points in 51 games might sound respectable, make no mistake that Deschamps' impact on the game has little to do with the offensive side of the game.
As the league moves into the stretch drive of the regular season, lord only knows how many innocent VHLM players will feel the wrath of this French beast.
