  1. Wait what? Why write about myself? Well quite frankly I'm writing an ode to myself for a couple reasons. If you have noticed any difference in me its because of a few things. I do not suffer at the hands of some PTSD after seeing some specialists out on business trips in a couple cities. I recently bought a house in a small neighbourhood and I have now been able to gain a foundation for what I believe is a very solid life. Those who know me have seen me as a helpful dude, but somewhat argumentative at times. With a different outlook and a slight change in way of thinking (but still competitive as hell), things have changed a bit for me. I work 10 minutes from home and recently started training with a former AHL player (only cardio-wise though). So here is a non-alcoholic beer glass raised to me! You'll probably see me get back to praising some of the others members around the league next week. Who will it be?
  2. The VHL celebrates thirteen years. That's thirteen years I will never get back...but I wouldn't want it anyways. This place has given us a lot of great experiences, friendships and rewards. We've been able to raise money for things, become better people (I use that loosely) and get to know all walks of life. We've talked about sports, everyday life, tragedies and huge accomplishments in our own lives. We've supported each other, bickered with each other and been pitted against each other by others. We've seen thirteen NHL Stanley Cup champions (could be 12) in our time here. We've fallen in love with NHL players and been broken apart by those same players. We've had our teams crush us with embarrassment and seen them rise from the ashes of a rebuild. We've seen busts and diamonds in the rough appear on the NHL scene. We've seen late round VHL draft picks end up leading first generation leaderboards and eventually getting HOF nods. Cheers to you VHL, cheers to 13 solid years!
  3. When I was 13 I figured out what a shit hole New Jersey was. That being said it was because my older cousin took us on trips to the city and we understood there wasn't much to do there.
  4. I'd be over the moon if I won, but I don't think they are my awards to win given the competitions performances
  5. Oh the places we've gone...in conversation. Shawn and I have a very long relationship when it comes to the VHL. Shawn and I started talking probably close to 10 years ago and it's been fun watching him grow and develop into the strong man he is today. On the board he is quite the character and always chimes in with a great joke. His dedication to his family is something I admire and his work ethic is strong. Shawn is the type of person to pull his socks up and get to work when he needs to come up with something. He has always created some very above average players (he will agree). Both of us reside in British Columbia so we've had talks about all sorts of things related to our province, interests and families. Shawn was a Seattle Everblades teammate at one point (back when I created that team) and he was a defensemen and I'm proud to say a defensive partner for my first ever player Joey Kendrick. If you catch him online give him a shout and tell him a joke, he'll usually have one in response. Everyone raise their glasses to this grade A guy! @TheLastOlympian07

  7. Victor and I have quite the history. We hate each other and then we stand each other. This VHL.com article will let you know about the things Victor does that drive this place forward into a production forum. Although he is the reason by team is no longer a franchise here, we seem to have adjusted and are expanding again. He has long known most facts about the league (which might be creepy but is mostly useful). Running the Trivia is no easy task given the amount of knowledge one must have and where to fact check things quickly. He has created some incredible players and although at times biased towards his own players (my opinion solely) he sure knows the STHS system as well. He has managed some great teams and has won many awards, but the award that doesn't get announced is the hard work that members do and Victor puts in an incredible effort all across the board. His dedication to our league and ability to work out the finer details in rules, daily league running and directing new members to the best spots won't go unnoticed. Now don't get him started about members earning TPE from recruiting... Here is to @Victor, raise your glasses!
  8. I was pleasantly surprised to see when I came back, that Bana was still the GM of the Seattle Bears. For anyone that doesn't know, I founded the Seattle franchise from Season 1 and although it goes by a different name (formerly Seattle Everblades) it is still here. His spirit and growth has always taken an upward trend. Jordan is not only a hockey fanboy but one that studies the game. Although it took him a few seasons to understand trade value (much like any GM) I felt I was very hard on him. I'm not responsible for his growth in anyway, but I would like to point out that he has made some great strides and in fact won a ton and had great success. I was skeptical about his time as Recruitment Leader, which ultimately led to me taking over and then getting canned on my way out last time (kind of a shitty reactionary move on my part). It's good to know the recruitment here has taken off and some of that is because of the groundwork put in by Bana. Let's not also forget he has had great success as the VHLM Commissioner in the past. So this one is for @Banackock, everyone raise their shitty beer glasses (because he's an Oilers fan) to Bana! The only knock on him is his NHL team that he supports.
  9. Well I don't hold it against you, even though I think 1-2 punch at centre was something that was great for both our players stat lines and would've won us a cup. I remember you talking with @Kesler to get out
  10. God dammit that Warsaw logo is amazing!
  11. So this one is a bit of a strange one in a sense because STZ is relatively new in regards to the members I've already listed. What he doesn't have in years of knowing me, he makes up for in impact he has had on me. His graphic ability is something I always admired and still do. His GM'ing with a level head and a clear head have actually got me through some hard times in regards to whether or not keeping my player was worth it. I've shared a locker room with @STZ on more than one occasion and he does bring the group together. He is a hard working guy with a family that he has clearly shown he takes high value in. We've had great success as teammates and we've had great success as rivals as well. We've been in Europe and North America with our players and he has shown a great mind for building the right type of players. This Ode is to a guy we all can agree is a huge part of the community and the history of the league. Thanks for making this place a great place STZ!
  12. I currently got "Charlie's Colorform City YEAH! I say HEY, HEY, let's all play the chloroform way"
  13. Okay so the VHL is in it's double digits in real life years. Those who have been here from the start may or my not be nearing 30 years old and for those younger, this thread is also for you if you're a parent. What sort of shows has your young in been into? Have any stupid theme songs stuck in your head?
  14. Hey you, if you're reading this and I don't know who you are; I want to make you a sig!
  15. Rhett was a boss, too bad we didn't get him a ring
