With the recent announcement that players for the 54th VHL Entry Draft could declare their eligibility and become VHLM claimable, a gem has joined the party. Markus King hails from Victoria, B.C. which is the capital of the western province in Canada. King grew up in the Victoria Royals development program and has had guidance from day one in regards to his goaltending journey. In the off-season various high level hockey players from the Victoria area come together to play some outdoor roller hockey. Jamie Benn, Jordie Benn, Tyson Barrie and Ryan O'Byrne headline the event and there are spectators that witness it in an old lacrosse box in the downtown Victoria core. With a lack of high level goaltenders coming from the Island, Markus King always got the call to come and join in on the fun. It is there where some scouts actually found out about the young lad.
