Well while I wait for my players rights to be sent to a team I might as well introduce myself to the rest of you.

I'm from the most boring place in Canada, Saskatchewan, and I have been a huge hockey fan for many years. My family has cheered for the leafs for many years so It only made sense that I become a Senators fan.

I've never been a part of a league like this but it looks interesting and something different.

Well that's it for now, I'm sure I'll get to know the rest of you as I spend more time here.

Normally when a player gets traded to a new team it takes a while for them to get used to the new players that are playing around them but that hasn't been the case for Jakob Linholm. Other than a few exceptions, he has played with a majority of the players on his team. He played with Logan Laich on the Americans and played with both Ron World Peace and Blaine Olynick for a short while as a member of the Bern Royals.

"It is nice to be able to know a few of the guys from earlier in my career. It makes it easier to get used to playing in a new city and in a new uniform. It's always nice to be able to play with the people you started your hockey journey with. It's also nice to continue to play along with Logan Laich. He was great to play with in New York and remains a great teammate in Cologne."

The New York Americans have gone out this off-season and brought together a team that they hope will be able to lead them to a Continental Cup championship in the upcoming season. The team has been very active this past off-season signing notable free agents Wesley Kellinger and Tuomas Tukio. While these new signings, as well as returning stars such as Connor Low, Odin Tordahl and Xin Xie Xiao, will be looked at to carry most of the load for the Americans this next season, it is going to have to be the young guns from the S37 Draft class that will need to step up to set the Americans apart from the rest of the league.

The S37 draft saw the Americans hold the second, third and fourth overall picks in the draft and they decided to use it to round out their top two lines of forwards. With their selections they took Jakob Linholm, Tom Slaughter and Logan Laich to lead them into the future. This upcoming season will be the first time that all three of these picks will be playing together in the VHL and it has the Americans very excited to see what these 3 picks can do.

    Tom Slaughter

Tom Slaughter was one of the most highly touted prospects in recent memory and had the entire league excited for his arrival. He had amassed a ridiculous amount of practice hours during his time in the VHLM and was predicted to be one of the favorites to win rookie of the year. He didn't disappoint his first season and managed to rack up an impressive 76 points in 72 games and, just as he was predicted to do, he went on to win the top rookie award. He is expected to do even more damage in the upcoming season and is expected to be a fixture on the Americans top line for many years to come.

    Logan Laich

Logan Laich is another highly touted prospect but many people thought he could still use another season in the VHLM to polish his skills. The Americans thought differently and decided to keep him up in S37. While he managed to get an impressive 321 hits in the season his point totals were not impressive putting up a measly 12 points in 72 games. He has shown flashes of greatness and will be looked at to improve his offensive production in the upcoming season.

    Jakob Linholm

Linholm was the only one of the three picks to not play the VHL last season and was sent down to the minors to showcase his talents there. During his season with the Minot Gladiators he put up an impressive 129 points as their captain. He has a well-rounded game but nothing that seems to stand out. Just like Slaughter last season, Linholm is one of the favorites to win the Rookie of the Year award and help play a part in the Americans plans for a championship season.

These three young talents will be called upon this season to compete with the very best the game has to offer and perform well each and every night. The Americans is a franchise that demands success and these three will be looked at to elevate their game in the upcoming season and help show that the Americans struck gold in the S37 draft.

RandomHero got a reaction from Higgins in Linholm, Mercenaries embrace the Role of Underdog
The World Cup always has it`s fair share of surprises and great stories, but this year we seem to be treated to an extra special one. A team of all the rejects from the other roster squads was set to used in this tournament with the hopes to make things more competitive and give those fringe players a chance to play in the tournament. While they were only expected to maybe steal a game or two from a team, they were never really predicted to go far in the tournament.

But as luck and fate unfolded, this team of pass-overs have taken the tournament by storm and are now sitting atop the tournament standings with a perfect record of 4-0, defeating the powerful Canadian, Scandanavian, European and American squads in the process. One of the bright spots for the Mercenaries this tournament has been the play of Swedish Winger, Jakob Linholm.

“It has been fun for us, we`ve been playing loose and I feel like that has helped us. We never had any pressure going into the tournament and we feel like we can continue to compete with these teams. As long as they keep assuming that they will run over us, they are not going to beat us, we work too hard for that too happen.”

    Americans prospect watch

After being eliminated on the last day of the season, the New York Americans management and their fans turned their attention to the players within the organization that were still playing meaningful hockey. Two of the teams top prospects made the playoffs this season, so today we'll look back at the season's they have experience while playing in the VHLM.

    David Januzaj

Januzaj was drafted by the Americans back in the Season Thirty-Six draft, with hopes that with enough patience Januzaj would make it to the VHL one day. That day appears to be upon the franchise as Januzaj looks real close to making the jump from the Bratislava Watchmen to the New York Americans defensive core in Season Thirty-Eight. The young British defenseman has spent the last two seasons in the VHLM with the Watchmen, leading the team offensively in both his seasons in the minors. In his first season with the Watchmen in Season Thirty-Six, Januzaj had the privilege of playing of one of the best offensive VHLM teams ever, but that didn't stop the defenseman from leading the team in assists with eighty-one and points with 105. Januzaj and the Watchmen would go on to win the Founders Cup last-season, then Januzaj would watch as many of his team-mates from that championship team would head to the VHL after that season, but not Januzaj himself. After being left behind to anchor the Watchmen blue-line for another season this past season, Januzaj came into camp in the best shape of his VHLM career. Januzaj would again led the way for Bratislava offensively with 140 assists and 207 points overall. Januzaj will be taking home some individual VHLM hardware with him when he most likely dons the red white, and blue of the New York Americans next season.

    Jakob Linholm

The most promising prospect in the Americans cupboard, Linholm is slowly turning into the player the Americans were hoping for when they drafted him Second Overall in the Season Thirty-Seven VHL Draft. Linholm signed his eligibility papers for the VHLM twelve games into the VHLM season last year which meant he started behind many other prospects that were already declared for the draft. Linholm played in sixty games for the Bern Royals last season mostly on the teams third line putting up a modest twelve goals and thirteen assists. His play was enough for the Americans brass to notice the young Swedish winger, but Linholm knew heading into his draft day that another season in the minors was almost unavoidable. Linholm headed back to the VHLM for Season Thirty-Seven but this time he entered the league via the VHLM draft. Linholm was eventually picked up Seventh Overall in the VHLM Dispersal Draft by the North American Conference's Minot Gladiators. Linholm finally showed the VHL world what the American brass had heard about the young man as he exploded offensively the past season for Minot, with a team leading sixty-three goals and sixty-six assists. Linholm also showed his capabilities as a power-play specialist with fifteen power-play goals on the season. The Americas and their fans are looking forward to Season Thirty-Eight to see if Linholm can bring his offensive numbers with him to the big leagues.

With the Yukon Rush sending the Minot Gladiators home by sweeping them in the North American Conference finals, its now time for the players to focus on what is in store for them next season. For some players, theri focus shifts to where they may get drafted in the upcoming VHL entry draft. For other, such as captain Jakob Linholm, their focus shifts towards making the jump to the VHL. After being taken second overall in last years draft, Linholm was sent back to the VHLM to gain more experience and help polish his game. Thanks to the amount of practice hours he accumulated this season, it seems he is ready to take his career to the next level and will be joining the New York Americans next season.

After narrowly missing out on the playoffs this season the Americans are hoping that Linholm, who managed to get over 130 points this past season, will be the final piece in the puzzle for their return to the VHL playoffs.
