  1. Is it only if you've played in the VHL not the VHLM?
  2. "Well it was great to make the playoffs, an achievement that really didn't feel possible after a few weeks into the season where we were near the bottom of the table, but looking back now it really feels like we could have taken than series if the puck bounced our way a few times. That game six really hurt, being up 3-2 going into the third, letting it get tied up just 2 mins into the period and then going behind with just a minute and forty five seconds left was heartbreaking. Overall I'd have to say it was good though, getting crucial playoff experience for myself and the team and finishing 7th in playoff goals despite only playing 6 games should get my name out there more and make some people take notice of me. I'm glad I get to stay in San Diego for another season so we can get back there and make some real noise next season. Obviously we'll likely lose Chad Gilbert but we've got great depth in the squad so we'll be fine.

  6. Might be biased but the 2-7 matchup this season consisted of 6 games where every game was decided by one goal, so it's not always a forgone conclusion and it allows teams that improve throughout the season to participate in the playoffs.
  7. Jacob Anderson (yeah the actor) and DC Dragons colours.
  8. Care to make one more for me ol' buddy ol' pal?
  9. I think we gave them one hell of series, more than most 7 seeds would. Every game was a one goal affair and the series could have gone either way. They're are great team with such great scorers and I'm proud of the team being able to keep up with their stars like Benny Graves. Yes very happy, we knew we were better than out record suggested at the mid point of the season as we were really feeling the lack of a goal tender. As soon as we had someone to stop us leaking those soft goals we started really putting some wins together. I think I could use another year in the VHLM before I'm ready to move up. Losing a a year of development to injury put me a bit behind schedule but I think my performances this season speak for themselves. It feels bittersweet really, giving the fans something they've yearned after for years feels pretty great. Those cheers in game 2 when the final buzzer went were so amazing to feel. We might have came into the playoffs with low expectations but as the games went on we gained confidence and at the end of the series we really felt like we could have taken the series win rather than just a couple of games. God it's so hard to tell, there's a lot of roster turnover with new rookies coming in and the dispersal draft so really any team with a good off-season can catapult themselves into championship contention.
  10. GG to the Aces, every game coming down to 1 goal, what a series.
  11. Benny motherfucking Graves ;(
  12. Brutal. Savage. Rekt.
  13. Well that was two very different games. One high scoring free-for-all and then a cagey 2-1 game.
  14. The San Diego Marlins had a devastatingly bad start to the S68 season, with the lack of reliable goaltender and some concerns about depth in the defenseman positions the Marlins sustained heavy losses early on. The first half of the season ended with the Marlins with a 14-22 record as despite the excellent play of Chad Gilbert and Roadkill Steve leading the offence, the Marlins were conceding goals freely. A pickup of goal tender Nicolas Fomba was the spark for a turn around in San Diego's fortunes, in the second half of the season the Marlins went 24-9, a winning percentage of 0.666 which would get them 47 wins if they held that pace for the entire season. They strung together an 8 game winning streak in this stretch as well. This form brought them to the 7th seed, though not a astonishing feat it is certainly higher than many Marlins fans dared to hope for at the all-star break. Now they will match up with the Las Vegas Aces, an intimidating matchup as they Aces have the highest goal difference in the league along with the top 2 points scorers in the league. However the Marlins do have firepower of their own with the 3rd, 4th and 8th highest point scorers, not only that but the Marlins also have the 3rd and 9th highest goal scorers. However the fact that San Diego are 1-6 against the Aces this season with the only win being a shootout win might give the higher seed the mental edge in the matchup. It should certainly be a series to keep an eye on for the casual fans, I expect games with a lot of scoring and fast paced action.
  15. It went really went, I've finished 9th in goals scored in the entire league which is a great achievement for someone who hasn't has the greatest start to a career like myself. I have stayed with the Marlins yes and despite our poor start to the season we managed to pick up a great goaltender and started really turning the season around in the second half of the year going on a few really long win streaks at time and making the playoffs. I haven't really heard too much noise about them so it's hard to say as I don't keep particularly up to date with news about upcoming players. I guess time will tell. Not really, i got busy with other stuff like GM-ing etc so haven't had the chance for a podcast appearance in a while. If they need me i'm prepeared to be the spark plug off the bench that can come on the ice and grab a few goals when we need them. Though my GM hasn't contacted me with any plan so I assume I'll be playing in the VHLM again next year. To be honest I haven't really had any contact with him since draft night as most of my attention has been on the Marlins. There's probably a fair few, i think okochastar and sixers are doing well here. I know that @stevo is lighting it up for us in San Diego and I outscored zeke @Aye my name jeff despite having way less tpe than him.
  16. It's a tossup between Houston and the Reapers, the colours for the Bulls are really good but I think the logo could do without having Houston above the bull head. The Reapers look slick and the dark colours fit well together. DC Dragons looks the best I think, the logo and colour scheme is really nice, though I also love the simplicity and clean look of HC Davos, it really stands out by itself compared to the other logos Probably the locker room experience, it's where the life and soul of a sim league is and there's a great group of guys in San Diego at the moment, especially on this run of form we've got going right now. An all out scorer, I want to be the name at the top of scoring leaderboards through my career and I think I've made a very good start on that so far.
  17. The Locker room experience is pretty good here and fun to see a GM so involved in the team. Can't think of anything off the top of my head really, perhaps decluttering some of the forum as the main page is a bit of a mess. Probably Chad Gilbert, it's no secret that he's one of the best C's in the league and he's leading up on our charge up the standings. Give me more GOALS! Yeah no doubt that discord is just better for the LR experience which is a big part of any sim league. Chad Gilbert of course. San Diego are on a roll and we ain't stopping soon son! We'll take 6th then go for 5th. I have a big bowl of Weetabix that I get shipped over from the UK along with a cup of tea, the tea here tastes shite, half of the arena's don't even have a kettle. Lunchtime I'll stack u[p on carbs usually with a bit pasta meal with some good meat like chicken or fish (salmon is my favourite). Then it's usually time to head to the arena, where I chuck on some spotify and go warmup with some shooting drills.
  18. Agreeing with Mo here from a new members perspective. I had IRL stuff crop up in my first season, now I've lost a whole season of my player and am going to be hamstrung going forward as I'm now 1-2 seasons behind. you still go into the draft after your first season but then your career clock doesn't start until your first VHL game, that would work nicely.
  19. @InstantRockstar @Fire_In_Babylon @stevo

  21. Thought it meant you had to be active in s69 not created. I was IA last season though if that matters.
