1.) Well, I already got traded once. At this point, I think I'd like to stay, just so I can still play as a starter.
2.) Jackbox Night could be fun - allows audience participation so even if you're not playing, you can still participate.
3.) I'm actually almost done! I'd say 90% - just need to get one or two small things for the wife.
4.) I think someone is doing a cooking stream or something? That might be one of the "if we get X amount of donations" ones, but either way, that's what I'd like to see.
5.) Shout out to @WentzKneeFan036 - need you to re-create. Also shout out to our boy @Squinty - time for you to come back!
6.) I have two - one is for cooking reasons and the other is for personal injury reasons. For the cooking one, I had first started cooking and was making Rice-A-Roni. "Brown the rice" accidently turned into "blacken the rice" and it was pretty distrusting - just very crunch and basically inedible. For the personal injury story, I was browning ground beef for something and couldn't figure out why the beef wasn't actually cooking even though the range was on. My mom has an electric stove top, but one of the older ones with the coils, not the flat surface. I had accidentally left the cover over the coils, so the pan itself wasn't getting hot. This must have happened for at least a couple of minutes, if not a little longer. I realized what happened , but I was distracted with something on my laptop (possibly VHL?) and without thinking, I used my index, middle, and ring fingers to slide the cover off the burner like I had countless times before...except all those times, the burner wasn't on high heating up cover. I left skin marks on the cover from where I slid my fingers and immediately filled the bathroom sink with cold water and stuck my fingers in there. Eventually, I ended up at Urgent Care with 3 very burned fingers that started to swell up. Did not tickle.

I have absolutely nothing to back this up, but I would also theorize that this is a TPE level that sees a higher amount of inactivity more so than it being a VHLE specific issue - you've been here long enough to earn some TPE but then realize that it's either not for you or you're just not actually that interested in it (such as those who are in another sim league, because this perfectly describes me in every other sim league).

So Halifax seems like we're improving since I joined - not that I'm the cause of that or anything, but I wasn't really paying attention to them before. When I joined, we were last in the league, but not we're second to last, so we've got that going for us at least, but... It seems like we're trading away a bunch of players, so it doesn't seem like we're going to really make any noise in the playoffs (if we make it?). That kind of sucks, but the big upside is that I get to play every game (for now at least). I'm going to guess that at some point we'll pick up a second goalie off of waivers to give someone else a home, and that's OK. The league is doing the annual charity drive starting this week. Honestly, this might be the best "new" thing we've done in the past however many years. The first year we did it, I was hoping we could just get to like $500 or something, but we hit multiple thousands, and it's very, very cool we're able to do that almost every year.

1.) Well, I'm cheating, but we are no longer dead last! We are now second to last! So things are improving, and in the VHLM (almost) anything can happen!

2.) The first thing I'm doing is finding someone else to be in charge - I ain't got time for that shit no mo'.

3.) Well, I'm still getting to know my new teammates since I was one of those brought in, but everything seems pretty good here so far, minus the not winning a ton part.

4.) @Jerichohacking @Kesler's account because his password was password. That and "shipped me off". I just realized this didn't say "VHL" memory, but oh well.

5.) Assuming there is no one else inside: My laptop (too much stuff on it that would be annoying to replace), our "cash stash" for obvious reasons, and then...some yearbooks? They're sentimental and timeless I guess.

    6.) Eliminate Vasteras.

The Redcross native brothers played four games a piece since last we reported from them. Please find summaries of the respective matches here below:

Marcel's @Morcar80 21st faced the Aces first. This match was very tight, yet still a loss for Halifax with a final score of 4-3. The Nova Scotians opened the score 6:20 minutes into the game when Von Strangle @Timmy Turner(Warrior, Hagel) scored his tenth of the season. Before the intermission, Vegas was able to tie the game in power play. In the middle period Crumb's @Crummer77(leclerc, AL) goal was bracketed by two Aces goals. In the final period it was McMuffin @Ente2997(Leblanc) who found the back of the net, however the Nevadans answered with a goal of theirs for the final score. The three stars were Skambraks @CSkams15 (2g/1a), Galvins @Girts (1g/1a) and AL @bigAL (0g/1a). McGleis @lukechezzwoo (.892) kept his team in the game while Price's @Thunderidge (.875) average performance was enough for his team to win the game. The Halifax's special teams cost the squad a well deserved point and maybe even two as neither penalty kill (1/2) nor power play (0/5) were up for the task.
Marcel was recorded with 0g, 0a, -1 and 26:46 TOI (second most of the team)

The next match was against Mexico City and again was lost with the smallest of margins, this time 3-2. The Kings were first on the board and held onto that lead until the first intermission. In the second period the 21st scored a brace by Warrior @KnightRiley (Hagel, Von Strangle) and Door (AL, Crumb). The former was traded in the interim to Saskatoon in exchange for a 1st round pick in S83, the latter is a new acquisition from the Aces in exchange for Rockwell. In the third the Kings delivered the deathblow with an early goal, which Halifax was unable to reply to. Lambert @Minoulambert23 (2g/0a), Tanky @Franki026 (0g/2a) and AL (0g/1a) were named three stars of the night. The netminders duelled on an adequate level with Tsezar @comrade cat (.913) having the edge over McGleis (.842). The 21st's box play was perfect (2/2), their power play was not (0/2).
Marcel had 0g, 0a, -1 and 24:46 TOI (second most of his team)

The third game was the rematch against Mexico with the same result: 3-2 for the Kings. Halifax scored their two goals by Von Strangle (Janser, Warrior) and Crumb (Logue, Von Strangle) early in the game, but unfortunately could not keep up the pace. They allowed three unanswered goals and had to concede the game accordingly. The three stars were Accardi @LRJA (2g/0a), Von Strangle (1g/1a) and Lambert (0g/1a). Tsezar (.846) had the slightly lower saving rate as newly acquired Wumbo @Fire Vigneault (.864) in Halifax' net. Wumbo was acquired in a trade together with a 2nd and a 6th round pick in S83 in exchange for Zininger @ScoreAGoalBudEh and Leblanc @Horcrux.
Marcel was credited with 0g, 1a, +0 and 26:44 TOI (second only to AL)

Marcel's final encounter for this issue was against Saskatoon and ended in a 4-2 loss. Hagel @jasplunds (AL, McMuffin) put his colours in front during a power play. Alas, the Wild equalized the game before the first horn. The second period also ended with a 1-1 draw with AL (Logue) scoring in the final seconds of that period. While, this was all of Halifax' contribution on the score board, Saskatoon was not done scoring yet and found the back of the net another two times in the third period. Jackson @Slick (1g/1a), Johnson @MrMonkey (2g/0a) and Buffy @Strider (0g/2a) made it onto the podium for this match. Wumbo (.846) lost the tending competition against Saucey @ToooSaucey(.900). The 21st's  power play was good (1/3) their penalty kill still had room for improvement (4/6).
Marcel recorded 0g, 0a, +0, 2sb and 27:13 TOI (most of his team)

Daniel's Storm played their first match against Cologne and won 5-2. Pandora @PandaBearD25(3rd, Puhovs) scored in power play to open the proceedings. This was the sole goal of the first period. Nezuko (Pandora, Knale) scored early in the second, an other power play goal. However, the Express scored two back-to-back goals to even the score. Janser (3rd, Pandora) with the game winner and a beautiful deke followed by a backhand topshelf goal, Nezuko (Sprout, Upton) and again the Japanese (Sprout) with his third of the game put the nail in Cologne's coffin. The three stars were Nezuko (3g/0a), Pandora (1g/2a) and Karjalainen (1g/1a). Fletcher @DragonFire420 (.964) dominated Protagonist @Jericho(.808) by a country mile. The Storm's power play was decent (2/6) and their box play impeccable (6/6).
Daniel was logged with 1g, 0a, +1 and 5 hits

In the second game, Cologne was in for vengeance and steam railed (pun intended) the Norvegian team with a total score of 8-3. 3rd @Jeffie43 (Janser, Puhovs) in power play, Puhovs (Janser, Nezuko) in an other power play and Sprout (Nezuko, Upton) found the twine for the Storm. Martin @Craig (2g/1a), Meridius @Beaviss (2g/1a) and Pete @PistolP (1g/2a) were in the lime light for this match. Both Storm goalies were fielded and neither of them (.692 and .857 saving rate) were exactly stellar while Fleury @Kuba-Fleury put up a show (.921). Oslo's power play was good (2/6) and their box play acceptable (3/4).
Daniel had 0g, 2a, -3 and 2 PIM (Hooking, lead to a goal against)

The third game for the elder Janser brother was against Rome and it was a tire fire and a half, as Oslo lost 10-1. The only goal for Storm was netted by 3rd (Janser, Puhovs), 4 minutes into the third, when Rome was leading 7-0 already. The three stars were Mashford @Mashy (3g/3a), Jugs @NerdyCowz (4g/1a) and Steel @tylerwest (3g/0a). Both Storm goalies did what the could with a saving rate of .854 and .733 respectively, but they did not get an awful lot of support from their team, whereas Spinelli @Lspinelli(.955) was almost in a position to install a rocking chair and read the latest issue of VSN in the crease. The Norse's power play was terrible (0/5) and the penalty kill arguably even worse (2/7) with an almost Canuck-esque performance.
Daniel was noted with 0g, 1a, +0, 2 PIM (Delaying the game, lead to a goal against), 4 hits and 1sb

Oslo faced Cologne in their fourth match and achieved a 4-3 OT loss. The three goals for Storm were scored by Pandora (Toon) in power play, 3rd (Janser, Puhovs) in power play again and Pandora (Nezuko, Knale) in power play once more (three's a charm). The three stars were Martin (1g/2a), Pandora (2g/0a) and Leduc @Alexandre (1g/1a). Fletcher (.930) and Protagonist (.900) duelled on a very high level. Oslo's special teams had an almost perfect night with 7/7 on the penalty kill and 3/5 in the power play.
Daniel achieved 0g, 1a, -2, 4 PIM (Roughing, twice, obviously did not lead to goals) and 3 hits

The Jansers' statitistics so far are:
    Marcel: 28gp, 2g, 13a, 15pts, -17, 12 PIM, 19 hits, 40sb, 1gwg, 2ppg
    Daniel: 28gp, 9g, 18a, 27pts, -18, 44 PIM, 99hits, 15sb, 2gwg, 2ppg

Fire Tortorella reacted to Beketov in [Resolved] Award Voting Transparency
I guess my concern is this though: what is deemed a “questionable vote” that we simply wouldn’t be able to flag? For example back when GM’s voted there was a clear bias towards their own players (part of why we removed it) so it was very obvious and easy to adjust for. I’d argue it’s just as easy now.

Transparency is all well and good but if people want it just so that they can shout that any award they didn’t get was rigged then I don’t seem that a positive. It’s kinda my issue with this whole debate, maybe the intention is fine but a lot of people pushing for it have done so for so long in a manner that seems wholeheartedly self serving and makes it feel as if any vote they disagree with is questionable when really they just disagree with it but there’s nothing wrong with it.

I guess that kinda sums the whole thing up for me: what are we actually trying to fix here? Is there a real problem or people just upset because they think they deserved an award?

Seriously, it's been gone for a long while and I still have not found a post about it on the forums with a concrete answer to why it isn't running anymore. It is fun tpe and it benefits anyone. Let's say the main organizer can't do it anymore. I am sure there are still plenty of people who have the knowledge and time to pull off such projects, it also promotes asking people for help as sometimes when you can't find the right path to the answer one or more people can help lead you down the right path. It is a community project and promotes forum and discord activity more than for example writing these kinds of vhl articles. It is also a very fun way to learn about the VHL history if you are a new member who is trying to figure what happened before joining and in the early 2007 days

So, Ottawa is still kicking ass and taking names. Have only 1 regulation loss to start the season, which is pretty good. As I'm writing this, I wonder what the VHLM team with the most points and/or the least regulation losses is. I have to imagine in Old VHL(M) some team must have come close to a perfect season. Lots of chatter about the moderating survey. As I said in the thread, I don't want to dismiss the survey (and I honestly don't - I think it raises some valid points) but it is important to remember that generally speaking, those who are going to respond to a voluntary survey are those that feel strongly in either direction. On the whole, I think the moderating team does a good job, but like any of us, there are maybe some things that could change or be more consistent. However, I want to scream this as loud as I can to people on a variety of topics: THIS IS A SIM LEAGUE FULL OF VOLUNTEERS - NOT EVERYTHING WILL BE PERFECT

1.) It definitely seems like it! I wasn't on the team last season so I can't speak to how the team was then, but we're definitely clicking on the ice right now.

2.) Yeah, I'm doing well in the games I played and the team as a whole is doing really well - can't ask for anything more.

3.) VHLM - Ottawa. VHLE - Bratislava. VHL - Moscow

4.) Leonard the Lynx is pretty good...I was going to go for the alliteration too but I would go with Larry the Lynx

5.) Hm, that's a good question...I'm going to go with Max Torq since he leads the team in hits, so he has to be pretty tough.

With twenty two games under our belt, the Ottawa Lynx is making a statement. We have been destroying teams with little remorse. Ottawa has amassed a roster filled with capped or near capped players. Something that doesn't happen too often and especially the season after winning the cup. Will this be a back to back cup run? I think Jesus was a baby the last time that happened, I could be wrong. All I know is that the GM is having fun plugging different players in different spots and having the same outcome. Seems like we win with just about anyone on any line. It's a fun feeling but I often take and moment to feel sorry for the teams that we roll over. We do have feelings for others. Is beating the hell out of a team a bad thing? I think not if you are on the winning side.

This all seems a bit cocky, and it is. With great success comes great arrogance. The next step is being humble, something I am sure will happen at some point. But right now, it looks like a one team league and we are loving it. Let's go LYNX!

disclaimer: This is just fun trash talk. I love all of the teams and players.

Pickles ruin any dish they touch, even if you remove them after they leave behind nothing but pickle taste. It's horrible. There's a few kinds of pickles I can tolerate but very very.

This is probably a decent take to be honest. The average fry is just kinda meh but but a really good fry is absolutely amazing. I guess it's kinda like fries have a higher ceiling for quality, nuggets can hit their "top" easier but that top is lower.

Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated. At the time I wrote the article we kind of played 6 games, but since something went awry with the free agents of Oslo and Geneva, these games were decided to be resimmed. It apparently took some time to get it fixed and now we are 10 games into the season...

1.) I would say don't be afraid to ask questions and don't sweat missing TPE. There's nothing wrong with doing welfare or not maxing out your TPE each week.

2.) Shooting on the Lynx goalies seems like it would be pretty fun!

3.) I won a bunch of awards for my high school hockey team and conference, but nothing too prestigious really.

4.) They'll get the puck...I need the rest of my equipment, haha.

5.) I'm going to answer a different but related question - the change I'm most happy about "recently" is the addition of catch up TPE. Since I joined the BOG way back when, I hated the idea of trade deadline recreates and the huge advantage you would get from re-creating at the "perfect" time. Stolen from the PBE, I introduced the idea of "catch up TPE" in the BOG, which gives you half the TPE you could have earned from joining after the week of the trade deadline.

6.) Pretty good at video games, but not as good as he used to be when he had more free time.
