Bring them to the magical forest please. Also not sharing with the rest of us is another reason why Nyko should be fired.

Not applying, but the Hounds have been notified of the opening and YOU BETTER HIRE ONE OF THEM. Just kidding, good luck to all (especially my guys though).

"Intent to injure" in a sim where nobody gets injured? Smart, Gritty, smart. @eaglesfan036 let's throw down off the ice instead sometime.

@JeffD former supreme leader checking in. 1. What are/were your expectations for this season, and are you living up to them? 2. Downey's taken on a lot more of a two-way scoring build since leaving the Hounds. What motivated this change? 3. Since you're likely of the opinion that Vancouver will beat Calgary and make the cup final again this season, give me one reason why this will happen. 4. What do you see yourself doing with your career? Do you think you'll stick with Vancouver as long as you can, or explore your options elsewhere? 5. What are your predictions for Halifax this season? 6. What have you learned so far as AGM in Halifax? Anything you were surprised to find out about management?

Garcia almost forgot what a goal is.

Hi there @Kmillsy and welcome to the league! I'm GustavMattias, GM of the Mississauga Hounds, and I think you'll be a great addition to our team. We came out of the draft with a great group of talent--some already high-TPE players, some rising stars, and three players in the current top 10, points-wise. It's all uphill from here, as my goal is to build a team that will find a great deal of success in the regular season, the playoffs, and beyond. There is a need for a center on our team, though, and that's where you fit in. If you sign with the Hounds, you'll immediately become our second-line center, with all the ice time you can get (including time on both the power play and penalty kill). Along with this, you'll be part of one of the league's best (if not the best, and other GMs can fight me about this as they wish) locker rooms, full of active people with all levels of experience, from complete beginner to longtime vet, all of whom can answer any questions you might have about our team, the TPE process, or the league in general. Your addition will benefit the team greatly, and you may just be the missing piece we need. If you'd like to join the team, feel free to quote my offer and say "accepted," and I'll get you a contract and put you in the lineup immediately. Welcome to the league once again, good luck, and feel free to contact me with any questions you might have. -Gustav

Gustav's Collection of Questionable Discord Screenshots

Credit to @JeffD for screenshotting this, I'll put it here myself anyway. -
@HenrikZoiderberg does "the old white rhino" refer to you or to @diamond_ace?

Final claim for this bad boy. Claiming for the week ending 9/29.

Hi there @Kiirin and welcome to the league! I'm GustavMattias, GM of the Mississauga Hounds, and as I see you're still taking a look at everything available to you (good decision in my opinion), I'm here to add my team to the mix. Here in Mississauga, we've got a good group of players--we've got three players in the top 10 points-wise, including the league's best offensive defenseman, Brock Louth (who you'd be playing with here!). We're a serious contender for success, and will be aiming for it this season, but we do still have a need for defensive depth--if you join our team, I'll have you on our second pairing right away, with time on the power play, penalty kill, and whatever other situation may arise, you name it. In short, you'll be out there for all the time we can possibly get you out there, and on a good team to boot. We've also got a very active locker room on Discord, where you'll get the chance to meet many fun people and get any questions you might have about anything league-related answered almost instantly. If you'd like to keep looking, keep looking, and if you ever want to accept my offer, you're more than welcome to--we'd be very happy to have you here. In the meantime, good luck with your player, and feel free to ask either myself or my AGM, @berocka, any questions you might have about the Hounds, the VHLM, or the community in general. -Gustav

There's a Case to be Made for AGM Rights...
Gustav replied to ColeMrtz's topic in Archived Media Spots
Reeeeeeeeeeeeee Although I like the "GMs get 2, AGMs get 1" system best, I agree with this more than the current system. Either pay AGMs without penalizing GMs, or don't let AGMs have anything, without giving the GM a raise. GM pay is fine at 2; I could honestly go either way on AGM pay. Indeed. See below for my "perfect world" scenario in which there's an actual point to AGMing. ...and this should be a requirement that EVERY GM has to satisfy if they hire an AGM. Having an AGM is by no means necessary, and there's nothing wrong with any GM who chooses not to. If a GM hires someone, and doesn't train them, and they don't ever end up contributing to the team or the league, then that is what makes the AGM position pointless. AGMing should be about learning the ropes, primarily, and helping the team, at a secondary level (at least in my opinion--some might disagree, but I'm very much against hiring AGMs with experience just to have someone who knows what they're doing run the team with/for you). If you hire an AGM, TEACH THEM STUFF. Enough so that, if something unexpected happens and, say, your internet goes out for a week, you can return after that time confident that the team will have been run well and effectively. There's absolutely a point to the AGM job, but a lot of the time it's misinterpreted as "I'm hiring someone so I can do less work," because, unfortunately, that type of thing does happen occasionally. Yes and no. A good AGM should be doing stuff, but what stuff that is should be left up to the GM. Can't really establish boundaries there. -
For the week ending 9/29: 1) The Hounds made a goalie signing this week, picking up Nicolas Fomba (@efiug) as our second goalie. Who wins the battle for Hounds goalie dominance, Fomba or Lukas Schweitzer? 2) What's your single favorite emoji to drop in Hounds Discord? 3) The Hounds have three players in the top 10 in points league-wide. Does this surprise you? 4) Do you think our chances of success are higher or lower than they were at the start of the season? 5) The team starts a tennis tournament, and you can pick one player to be your doubles partner. Who is it? 6) @fonziGG, general manager of Halifax, knocks on your door with some religious material. Do you let him in? @ColeMrtz21 @Cxsquared @Patrik Tallinder @GlowyGoat @Tigris @Krice13 @TukTukTheGreat @Radcow @Garrett @Ckbruinfan @efiug

Absolutely. This is the single most important thing to keep in mind here. When I first joined the league, and looked over the great big overwhelming list of stuff to do for points, my first thought was, "what, 500 words? Every week? For 6 points? I know nothing about graphics, and as someone who can't put together a complete sentence without tripping over all my words, a podcast is out. That seems like a ton of work to be doing every week." And at first, that was enough to keep me away from it. I claimed welfare my first two weeks, and even after that, I wrote a couple media spots that were barely 500 words and were just things I posted because I didn't want to suck. After that point, though, writing got to me, because I found something I liked. Every week I'd put up a ridiculous, absurd VHL.com article that was fun to write and poked hypothetical fun at a team or player (the remnants of my first season are still out there--I started the meme about Halifax worshipping Satan). This was something I looked forward to doing every week, at one point keeping a list of ideas for crazy headlines, because I was simply coming up with them too fast. Eventually this turned into crazy media spots which I enjoyed, and eventually that turned into long, serious, in-depth media spots which I continue to enjoy to this day. When I'm not busy, I've been known to write long articles every week, regardless of what I've got banked from the last one, and I've even written 2000+ word articles exclusively for the fun of it, without claiming anything. Anything can happen if you enjoy what you're doing--I'd say that made my entire time in this league, beyond the first few days or so, happen.

What? No blocked shots? Come ON Jerry. Nice win though.

@Walter Fizz hi! The Hounds have two goalies at the moment, so I can't offer you a spot on our roster. Just wanted to say something though--I understand you're making an honest effort at maturity, and that's something that I appreciate and that I hope the rest of the league will as well. Here's to a better future!
