That also doesn't mean people aren't going to blow up about it. VHLM drama doesn't need a reason to happen before it does I guess I just also wonder who else was considered and who else was directly passed over. Was someone who deserves a job and who has applied a few times passed over in favor of an experienced member who applied once? In that case I'd still disagree with that for a VHLM hiring at least, regardless of the members involved or past hiring history involving (or not involving) first-gens. Like I said, the best thing for everyone to do is to move on and accept ADV and IR as VHLM GMs. If valid and relevant points about the hiring process were made in this thread, I hope they're considered as feedback--but "I'm going to whine because I don't like who was hired" is the classic VHLM drama and I hope that doesn't creep in too much either.

At the end of the day--two members who have proven themselves more than capable of running a team and helping new players have been hired to run teams. That, by itself, is a good thing and something we shouldn't get upset over. I can feel the "you're taking a job away from new people" drama brewing already in VHLM GM chat, as dramas there tend to do, and I think that it's shameful if anyone tries to put down either person hired here based on that argument. I do agree that VHLM GM hirings should see newer members at the very least prioritized. That does not mean that we should never hire anyone experienced; it just means that VHLM GMing is, for a lot of people, the first real running-a-team experience there is in a sim league. That's valuable and it shouldn't be overlooked. So, for that reason, if someone with a ton of experience were to apply with me as commish, I'd look at the pool of newer applicants and see if there was someone who I really want. In that case, new member gets the job, older member who I know will do a great job but might not be learning much becomes the person who I'll hire in the next one or two openings (not someone who I'll ignore altogether, fwiw). That said, I don't know what the hiring process was, I don't know whether I agree with it or not, I don't know who else was considered, and I also recognize that it isn't my place to know all the information. I agree that it isn't the best look for new members to go 0/2 here, and I'll admit that I raised an eyebrow at that even though I'm confident both of these teams are in good hands. I just hope that those who weren't hired don't feel discouraged from continuing their interest in VHLM jobs, and that those who were don't see themselves alienated or guilt-tripped by people (other GMs included) who think they don't belong in their positions and should not be a part of the VHLM community.

I'm in if you need people but otherwise I'll sit out. Spent way too much time trying to get a win out of the last game and I don't want to burn myself out on this.

If it's able to be kept up and become established beyond just the first few issues--sure (and I hope it can be kept up!). Right now it's early enough that giving it a section of its own would be weird though. I'm wondering whether you guys might find reaching out to VSN helpful actually. Granted, I'm not a part of VSN, and I don't know if they'd be interested, but making your publication part of it might help it find more secure footing as you'd be able to lean on a larger group of people for editing/feedback and filling in when needed and the like.

Dammit I came here to say this. Congrats @Ricer13!

YEAUUUUUUUUH Great job to all my Mafia homies! Glad this worked out well in the end for us--I'm now 2-0 as Godfather GG and my apologies to @Caboose30 for what may have come across as harsh arguments. I really appreciated your late-game SK plays and I give you a lot of credit for almost pulling off the win. GG to the Town as well. Mafia as a whole was absolutely filthy this game and you still almost managed to win it. Next game of mine coming...at some point. One class is still throwing me for a loop at the moment as we've done three entirely different things up to this point and I still have to figure out what the hell it's about.

VOTE CABOOSE @Mike hi
-
Because I said so
-
:gustav3: Whatever, I guess this just drags things out another day. Doom is the only one who can die tonight. I assume I know where both myself and Caboose are going for the sake of stat padding. @Mike if you could vote Caboose with me tomorrow to end it that would be cool.
-
Oh wait Spartan was killed by SK lol. It's Maf vs. GF vs. Doc and there's an Exe who can end the game today by voting with me. @Mike I know I already tagged you but I can't read, vote Caboose with your best Mafia friend pls @Doomsday please read the above and make your own judgment. Mike has much more of a reason to vote with me than with Caboose. Since I assume you used your self-heal last night you're dead tonight and Town loses anyway if nothing happens today. Voting with me just avoids dragging out the outcome.
-
VOTE CABOOSE @Mike please vote with me. I got our Mafioso to back up your claim and helped you win. I'd like to ask that the favor be returned. Today is another work day for me and I don't feel like sitting here and getting into "I deserve to win the game" arguments to try to win the town over anyway. Because there's nobody in the game who wants me to win the game at this point--nobody is left on my side. So let me lay out the facts: -Yes, Al was Spy. There are two town left. -Neither I nor Caboose can die at night. -Lynch one of us today, someone dies at night (yes, I know there's a Doctor). -If Doom's protection doesn't work, it's 1v1 tomorrow (not counting exe who's irrelevant in this situation). The remaining evil wins. -If Doom's protection does work, it's 2v1v1 tomorrow (counting exe). Unless you can swing Mike to vote with Town (which I doubt) nobody gets lynched and the cycle continues. Someone presumably dies at night eventually and the remaining evil wins. -By the way, if nobody gets lynched today, I'm not above planning with Caboose to have one of us go for one townie and the other go for the other. One of the townies dies tonight for sure. Barring a stroke of dumb luck, town cannot win the game. If Mike backs up my vote (which I humbly ask for again), you have two votes for Caboose. One more vote from either townie and we have what we need. If Mike doesn't, both townies can still vote with me to take out Caboose. This is the guy who yesterday played the "please take pity on me because I'm a poor NK who deserves to win purely by virtue of my role" card before pulling back his vote and stopping a Town win. Are you really going to take his side at this point? Think about that. I'm also the only one with access to people's post-Janitor roles (Berocka being Jester, omg being Tracker, Al being Spy), and am voluntarily coming forward with this information to give our remaining townies a clear perspective on things. Caboose does not have any info to give and just acted like he was town's best friend until he suddenly wasn't for his own self-interest. I rest my case. Caboose can talk all day in this thread if he wants to; I'll be at the store getting breathed on by people who think retail workers are subhuman. See you later tonight when one of us is presumably dead.
-
I know this is going to get brushed off as bullshit but I never got a notification about having been attacked last night. Either eagles missed it or Spartan is lying. UNVOTE CABOOSE VOTE SPARTAN And that's it for me because I'm off to work. I assume I'll be dead when I come back but whatever, I tried.
-
Kinda hard to do that at the moment when there are two of us. You can do what you'd like, I've said everything I can.
-
And does that mean I'm wrong? No. I'm telling the truth. Caboose's argument is "you should like me better purely because I'm SK" while mine is "you can actually win, I'm not messing with you, the first step needs to be taking out the SK." Of course he's going to brush that off as bullshit. And I don't blame you for doing that either. But it is the right move to make and I've been open and honest about it.
-
Except...you're not? Read the role list. Berocka was Jester and omg was Tracker. Those are the two we cleaned. Go and read the scenarios I put up and decide for yourself which you want. Caboose does not "deserve" the win, no matter how much he acts like any NK should.
-
We roleblocked him when he was supposed to shoot Jericho. We also do happen to know he's Vig--we cleaned Berocka on N1 and he was Jester. You're the only neutral left.
-
"You should let me win over Maf because I'm SK" is a stupid argument in any context, and especially when you're talking to the guy openly claiming Maf. It's whiny and doesn't appeal to anything except "poor me, I'm losing". If we're going down that road--I'm a big part of why it's "the most exciting and chaotic game". When was the last time someone fake-claimed Vet and got the real Vet killed? All you've got is a shitty Psychic claim that involved someone who wasn't even playing on D2. But I don't want to go down that road so I won't press the issue farther. There are two Mafia left. Lynching me still gives the Maf the ability to kill someone tonight, and it also gives Caboose the ability to kill somebody. Take me out, two people die--presumably both town because at that point it's 3-town-vs.-1 maf (who can't hurt him at night) vs. 3 Town again. Maf goes for a Town role and Caboose takes out whoever and gets it down to 1v1v1 tomorrow where he plays the "oh poor me" card again and talks someone into voting with him to end it. Town does not need that. Lynch Caboose, and it turns into 3-vs-2. One town dies, and if you're lucky with your Vigilante and Doctor it's 3 town-1 maf tomorrow. One of these situations is easily superior for town. Don't listen to these stupid appeals to emotion and use common sense.
-
VOTE CABOOSE Read Jericho's last will. Getting the SK out is the best move for both us and town, whether you like the idea of letting me live or not. I am Mafia and there's no sense denying that at this point. I'm not going to sell out my Maf friends though. I've voted for the Serial Killer and that's where my vote shall stay (especially since I'm at work for most of today). And yes, we know he's SK. I'm not messing with you. The only person I can publicly appeal to here is @Mike--our Mafioso backed up your fake claim to help you win. Please, please, vote with me to return the favor.

Can't wait for BoG to agree on Bek just to watch the league explode

For the week ending 2/28: 1. We're out of the playoffs--but who's winning the cup? 2. What are your thoughts on the live sim drama that took over the league earlier this week? 3. With Davos finishing in last, we're guaranteed either the first or second overall pick. Who do we draft--Atreides, Idaho, or Reinhart? Do we go for a defender in the other Reinhart? What's our best option? 4. Should I ever say anything other than "David" on Davos Twitter? 5. You have the opportunity to fire any commissioner and replace them with whoever you want. Which one do you fire, and who's the new one? 6. The player store now allows you to take away your future player's starting TPE and use it on your current one (it doesn't; this is hypothetical). Would you ever use this system? @Jer_Lefebvre @Big Dee @Lefty_S @Ahma @Advantage @Grape @PadStack @Berocka

I tried once and someone (I forget who) told me that serif fonts are trash and I should never use them. But in their defense it was an awful graphic so in that case they were right.

I don't know if you know about this website but Dollar shared it with us on Discord a while back and it blew the collective mind of our graphics community. We certainly still have people who insist that doing it yourself is better (especially because it can lower the quality of some cuts) but it's saved me a ton of time with sigs because it absolutely works and I'm not good enough to care about whatever difference I can't even notice most of the time. I legitimately enjoy clicking into your sigs Frank, really great stuff.
