Everything Advantage just said also applies to me I even did the VHL stats for a couple of seasons when Streetlight stepped down and religiously update Riga stats.  When it comes to administration work Advantage is but a shadow in my presence.

Hello everyone, my name is Mike and I have a problem. It has been nearly 48 hours since my last sim. I am very anxious and feel the rage building within unless I find myself another Sim soon. I know with the playoffs coming up soon things are only going to get worse. The second by second refreshing waiting and watching for the next Sim to come in. Thank you for listening and your continued support.

Mike got a reaction from STZ in Season 39 Entry Draft 1st Mock Draft
I was planning on doing my first draft Season 39 Mock Draft this week until I saw three other people do one.  That made me sad at first and then happy since mock drafts are fun.  Ultimately the real emotion I felt was probably depression and demotivation as I couldn’t find the will to write once three of them were done.  I ultimately decided to just do welfare again this week but at the last second I said eh who cares I’m going to still kind of do my first draft mock anyway.

Below you will find the draft order as it would happen based on today’s standings and no changes to order from the draft lottery.  As that likely won’t happen as well as picks potentially being traded before the draft we’ll just have to assume all goes to plan at this point.  Rather than just doing a straight mock draft I’m going to incorporate the other 3 mocks that have been done so far and compile it with my thoughts.

    1st Overall Helsinki (via QUE)
    Jackson Miller – Greg
“Even though Beketov hasn’t had a “great” player in a while, I think Miller will be one of his better ones so this pick should be easy for the rebuilding Titans”

    Tyson Stokes - Kyle
Ethan Osborne and Zhumbayev are extremely familiar and it would be a good foundation to keep some Titan history running through the current generation.”

    Jackson Miller - Tyler
“Miller is the safest pick at number one and a franchise like Helsinki can begin their rebuild at full speed right away by adding a player with the potential of a Miller.”

I have to agree with Greg and Tyler here that Jackson Miller is going first overall.  Having done the Season 39 Draft Rankings since these draftees have declared he has been at the top the whole time.  In past articles I wrote about Miller being one of the best prospects with a potential question in long term success.  He has done nothing but move forward in the right direction thus far and has actually distanced himself from the pack over the course of the season.

    2nd Overall Helsinki
    Tyson Stokes - Greg
“Stokes has the TPE to be selected here and with the loyalty factored in it’s almost a lock he will be a Titan again.”

    Koji Yamazaki - Kyle
“To the surprise of nobody, it's obvious that GM Ethan Osborne has a soft spot for talented 1st generation VHL players.”

    Koji Yamazaki - Tyler
“The Japanese stud defender is not a player with amazing pedigree or anything, but what he is hardworking, honest and the kind of person who you enjoy playing with.”

I’ve watched all season as Koji Yamazaki has risen up the VHL Draft Boards of every team in the league.  He is the ideal first generational talent along the likes of Lebeau, Draper, and Osborne of recent years.  If Helsinki ends up picking at 1 and 2 GM “STZ” might give this player the credit of going first overall.  Recent unexpected additions to the draft could really shake up this pick though.

    3rd Overall Cologne
    Andrew Erikson - Greg
“This was a tough pick to make on my end as I wasn’t sure who fit in with the Express but I ended up going with Erikson and I think he can help the Express in the long term.”

    James Faraday - Kyle
“Faraday will add some flare and draw to the Express which is exactly what they need in their current rebuild.”

    Mikkel Boomgaarden - Tyler
If the Titans go with the Japanese player as I expect, then Boomgaarden will be the one who slips in to the palms of the Express and they will be the happier for it.”

Greg is calling for Erikson but I don’t think he will even make the top five in this crazy draft.  James Faraday is a recent addition that no one knows anything about other than his player agent is Higgins who has yet to miss.  Boomgaarden isn’t as flashy as Faraday or as new car smelly as Erikson but he is a great safe pick for the near future.
If Miller goes first and Yamazaki goes second then it is either Boomgaarden or Stokes for third.  However come draft day if Faraday is on the same path as what we’ve seen from Higgins’ players it will be nearly impossible to not take him if he is even available here.

    4th Overall Calgary

    Koji Yamazaki - Greg
“I believe Yamazaki will be one of the best players out of this draft and could go higher but right now I have him going to Calgary where he can help the Wranglers get back into the playoffs.”

    Jackson Miller - Kyle
“Miller will be a first line player, but his risk of hitting his full potential is a little bit higher than those of Stokes and Faraday.”

    Tyson Stokes - Tyler
“Glasser is an easy going, matriculate kind of leader and I believe Stokes fits in with his franchises plans better than anyone left.”

As stated previously Yamazaki just has that X-Factor that GMs want and he likely goes sooner.  Miller I agree has that extreme long term potential question mark but he has been and currently is the top prospect until proven otherwise.  When I think of Fever95 I do kind of think he somehow is similar to a Jason.  I’ll assume that Stokes is gone already and Calgary selects Mikkel Boomgaarden with the fourth pick.

    5th Overall Helsinki (via SEA)
    James Faraday – Greg
“Easy pick as the former Titans GM retires to join a draft with half of the first round pick belonging to the Titans.”

    Devin Sundberg - Kyle
“Greg Harbinson's new player will be a fantastic addition to the Titans forward core which after this draft should likely be set going forward.”

    Sam Keeler – Tyler
“Right now, he is strong power forward who is playing more of a physical style of game with Brampton, but as he develops and grows out of his shell and get used to his size, Sam will no doubt be a force in the VHL.”

Greg expects Faraday to fall or rise to fifth depending on how you look at it.  Kyle sees a lot of potential in newer draftees Sundberg one that many GMs don’t quite agree with yet.  Finally we have Tyler selecting Sam Keeler who has slowly climbed the draft board but isn’t quite yet a top five pick.
My selection is James Faraday he likely will go higher if we see the progression we expect.  There is a clear top five in Miller, Yamazaki, Stokes, Boomgaarden, and Faraday.  After that we have plenty of skaters that you can call borderline 5th-6th overall picks that would be top three in a weaker class.
Next week we might expand on this as many others are expect to bring us their 6-10 next week as well.  Currently here is my ranking for the next five available players.

I don't believe in rewarding everyone so I only have a dozen or so golden stars to share from.  What we do is take a star away from RG3 for his bad start and give it to you.  It makes you feel better and puts the fire back into RG3 so do better and earn my love again.

I like you but you do need to be informed of hard truths.

Based on current TPE of the roster pages Seattle has 4823 TPE up from 4790 TPE on the VHL TPE index a gain of 33.  That moves the average TPE up from 532 to 536 not bad.

Riga has 5630 TPE up from 5687 a gain of 57 TPE and an average per player gain from 512 to 517.  We are gaining TPE faster than Seattle and currently have more with a lower average because we have more depth resulting in less CPU time.

S33 players is the start of depreciation, with S32 and S31 being hit much harder.  Riga has 2 players who have taken depreciation Taylor (who banked a bajillion and is still earning TPE) and Spud who didn't bank and is slowly recovering with welfare and such.

Seattle has Olsen S33, Ball S33, Lefevre S32, Weber S33, and Tremblay S33.  Ball, Olsen, Weber, and even Lefevre I'll assumed banked Tremblay only took 3% but hes inactive and only had 244 TPE to begin with.  So granted your depreciation was all covered BUT where you had to use TPE to replace that Riga has gained TPE and has more active updaters across the board.

Sure its close enough to go either but to say you have more TPE at every position when we have nearly 900 more TPE than Seattle with less overall depreciation is just laughable man  and to your point about last season Seattle being good we went 6-2 vs Bears last season so in the past if you were good we were still better.  Also to talk about past seasons when both teams didn't even win the cup isn't really relevant anyway.

The Most Memorable People in VHL History

Where would this league be if there weren't any personalty in it? It would just be another of the many sim leagues made over the course of the end of the last decade that faltered out and ended up in the abyss somewhere. The thing that has set the VHL apart is a commitment from the admins and, in my opinion, the personalities of the users. Some are polite, some are rude and some are much funnier than others. Some names will go down in VHL legend far larger than any single player they created or any team they managed. This media spot is an ode to the biggest and best personalities in the leagues history, the good and the bad.

Everyone knows, or should know, the story of Scott Anderson. His real name is Derek Leung and is known as the probably the leagues biggest enemy in its history. He was around for the majority of the first half of the VHL's existence and was known for his threats of hacking the league and shut down many of the VHL's competition by somehow being made an administrator and thus gaining control over the board, and then proceeding to shut it down. He was a nuisance in the side of the admins and he kept coming back under different nicknames. There was a time when, if you were a new member with no credible alibi, you were assumed to be Anderson and were likely under heavy scrutiny until you proved otherwise. In fact, current king of the VHL Jardy was assumed to be Anderson for some time, and I still kind of think he is on the low. I don't know if Anderson is actually in the VHL still or if he has gone on to bigger and better things with his life, but if he is here that's pretty cool to me. It's a typical story of redemption, because he has either grown up a considerable amount, or just no longer cares. Regardless, Scott Anderson is certainly one of the more intriguing characters of the VHL's early years.

In my early years in the VHL (joined in Season Six) one name that was always around was Cris Julien. Julien was a young man a few years older than I and had a horrible time with grammar. What he lacked in a grasp on the English language, he made up for in passion and was one of the  more passionate members of the VHL at the time. He was the General Manager of the Stockholm Rams (later the Riga Reign) and he was also the biggest soccer fan I've met on VHL. He was a strong supporter of Arsenal and would use Arsenal and French footballing legend Thierry Henry for every media spot and any Fan 590 he would write. I have no idea where he went, though I do recall him saying hello a few times over the later years. His player, named after himself, was, as far as I remember, pretty good. He was never in talks for an MVP but was always a solid player and it kind of mirrored the member. Although Julien was never the most well liked member or the most talked about, he was always there and was usually kind to anyone who had anything to say to him.

Last but not least we come to the legend himself, Robbie Zimmers. He apparently recently tried to make a comeback, but seeing as everyone else has grown up since his hay day in the VHL (circa 2008-2009), his antics have run dry. He told everyone he was rich, had a yacht, a mansion and would bring random models back to his house on a daily basis. No one really believed him than, although looking back on it, it's actually kind of funny he attempted those antics. He was also the General Manager of the Hamilton Canucks and later the New York Americans and was without a doubt the worst GM in league history. It was so bad in fact, that he had to tell everyone he was being bad on purpose, although I somehow doubt it. His Canucks and Americans teams were literally called The Shortbus because of its members and how poor the team performed. As a member of the later Shortbus teams, it was kind of funny I guess, but the bottom line is, Robbie is a personality the league needed to survive. I mean, every league needs enemies, right?

So here are three of the VHL's legendary personalities. There are obviously still a ton of memorable people in the league. Some who have been here since day one and some who joined in the last few months, however these three are people who have come and gone and the league is better off for their personalities. The league could not have survived without them I believe because they made the early years more exciting. It was far more fun to log on to the VHL every day and read whatever Julien had to say about Arsenal, or read what struggles had found millionaire Zimmers and of course, to guess which new player was the legendary Scott Anderson.
