Good game @cody73, you were something like the #3 scorer in round robins as a defenseman and put up a hell of a fight.

That I was. 14 points in the RR, a goal in the game to get us here & 3 points tonight. If I have a show in the Bronze game, I could still get/steal MVP of the tourney :D

1-The Song you listen to to get hyped on your way to a game?
It really depends on my mood.... most of the time, it's some Marianas Trench though.

2-Is it hard for you to find skates you like, do you go skate shopping alone or do you trust the trainer to take care of it?
I trust the trainer. I know very little about skates.

3-Do you believe in luck? If so do you have a lucky object that you associate with playing Hockey?
I do believe in luck, and it's why I have my sticks custom made. I like a stick with a bit of heaviness to it and a slightly bigger blade.

4-Do you think you clean up well? Have you ever had to go to a big hockey event? Tell us about it.
I clean up okay, but I'm definitely not the best looking guy in a suit.

5-How hard was it finding somewhere to live in Philly?
Blade, I assume you meant to use Calgary here, but left Phillly in cause you used these for the Reapers..... it wasn't too hard, just had to make the right connections and then make it comfy.

6-Name one thing that had to be located near your new house (fast food, game shop, park, tennis court, ect)
    A good burger joint.

  3. Seen as a late round steal after his terrific campaign in Mississauga, expectations were pretty high for Cody Smith. The young left winger, seen as a prolific sniper with a two-way edge, had been key to that teams success, racking up a multitude of goals & points as the Hounds inaugural captain. However, so far in Calgary, things haven't gone swimmingly. In 28 games with the Wranglers, the young rookie has amassed just six points, only one of which has been a goal. For a guy known for his shot, this has been seen as concerning, as well as his habits off the ice. Never known as the fittest player on the planet, Smith has seemingly opted to eat his feelings as of late, using his contract money on fast food quite often. In addition, he's seemed disengaged during practices, almost as if he's depressed or suffering from burn out. Not much is known as to what could jump start this players engines again, but it's definitely worrying. The biggest fear out of this is that Smith could be seen as exposable come the next VHL Expansion Draft, and while that might be the kick in the butt this player needs,  Smith has been very insistent on staying in Calgary if he can, going as far as improving his puck handling and trying to up his defensive positioning so he could play on the blue line in the future if it came to making room for other players. The kid is saying all the right things to the media as well, responding with this after the teams rough overtime loss to the Vancouver Wolves:

"I need to be better. Eat better. Practice more. Commit myself again. I've been lazy way too much this year, and it's not healthy. It's hurting my team, it's hurting my line, and it's hurting my offence. I think I know what I can do to get past this, but I need the backing of my team. I'm not sure if I have that, and that's what scares me more than anything. Having to join what would be my fourth team in four years.... there's been no consistency in my life and I was hoping to have a home here. To find out you could be left exposed and packing your bags once again.... it's just rough. I never expected to be a journeyman so early in my career, if it does come to that. But what I do know is that whatever happens, I'll hopefully be a key component to a team."

As much as it's nice to know Cody can say the right things, actions are always louder than words, and he needs to showcase that's it's not all talk. The main thing for Smith is to get back to practicing more and getting in better shape, which should hopefully up his speed,  which has always been his one glaring weakness. He could also choose to fine tune his shot a bit more to see if making a tweak or two would help him find the net more. But it all comes down to wanting it, and so far Smith's heading in the right direction. Only time will tell.

  4. Hey there Linus! I'm the AGM of the Yukon Rush and were always looking for talent to come here and help us win that Founders Cup. If you're interested in helping us on that mission as well as getting advice to help you make your player how you see fit but also be productive on the ice, let me & my buddy @Josh know by quoting my message, and he'll hopefully get back to you with a link to our Discord server, where were trying to build a good community.

  5. Heya @Elmebeck! My name's Cody and I'm the AGM of the Yukon Rush.... a team with a pretty stacked defensive core already, but one that could always use another member given at the moment, we don't have the strongest of goalie tandems (were hoping this will change soon as well, we've got interested in a couple FA's like yourself!). Now, most people won't ask you this, but what kind of build are you going for with your d-man? If you'd be open to it, we could use you as a "specialist", either being a key feature on our Power Play as a purely offensive guy or maybe you'd rather be a shutdown guy, focusing on being a elite Penalty Killer?  It's easier to start off a build with a set goal, then flesh out other parts later, hence why I asked.... and I think that either or would be a good fit in Yukon. So.... waddaya say? If you go ahead and accept my offer, @Josh. will get you hooked up with the rest of all things Yukon.

  6. Heya @Jimbo75. I see that @Ace has posted a reply, but well, he's got 0 authority on that. However, I do, as I'm the AGM of the Yukon Rush..... and well, we'd love it if you'd come. I know @Josh. would be ecstatic to have a C who if active could grow into a Top 6 role by season's end, maybe even 1st line depending on if he wanted to shake things up.

  7. Hiya, Kim! My name is Cody Smith, and I'm the AGM of the Yukon Rush. Were hoping to be pretty solid competitors this season and we could use as much depth as we can get on the wing, particularly the right side. If you're interested in joining us, quote my replay with the words accept and then my buddy @Josh. will get you set up with everything else.

  8. Hi @thechill! I'm the AGM of the Yukon Rush, and we desperately need a goalie here as both of ours seem to have gone inactive. Should you sign here, as soon as you got your TPE up, you'd be the defacto #1 tendy and you'd be part of a team hoping to make a playoff push this season. We are waiting on another tendy to make his decision, but..... this job is first come first serve.  We're trying to build up a core here and you'd be in a locker room full of passionate players. So, whaddaya say?

Oh, and I almost forgot to add @Josh., my boss.
