It was a day to remember in downtown Vancouver today as the Wolves took part in the Continental Cup championship parade.

Greg Eagles was seen drinking and partying with his team-mates during the parade and almost fell off the double decker bus.

" It is just a great feeling and im celebrating. It's rare for a rookie to win in their first season and im just enjoying my time here with my team-mates and fans" Said Eagles " I hope we can repeat next season as this is probably the best feeling in the world"

Eagles was seen interacting with fans by tossing beach balls into the crowd, tossing signed Wolves gear and posing for pictures.

    ]

Thousands of fans lined the street to celebrate as this is the first major championship to ever come to Vancouver. No other Vancouver team has won any major titles. Fans were going crazy in the street while dancing and celebrating with their favorite Wolves players. The mayor of Vancouver announced that today is National Wolves day and the team also received a key to the city for their outstanding achievement.

Definitely a different take on a biography using an interview process. It was very creative. Lots of good information. My suggestion would maybe to color code either the interviewer or Frederick to make it easier to read.

Boy is this great payoff for what has largely been a frustrating career for Gritty individually. While I am grateful to everyone on the team for the hard work we put in this season, I want to give a shoutout to some members who really stood out to me this season

@Beaviss for sticking with my nonsense in my career and tinkering with the lines in ways that still don't make sense to me, but you can't argue with the results!
@Greg_Di for being so supportive of the team as a backup. It shows a lot of maturity to barely play and still be such a great teammates, hats off to you
@InstantRockstar for proving me and many other wrong in actually staying active with this player, and making a really good one at that
@Motzaburger for being one of the most active and awesome members of the team and my discord buddy
@jRuutu - Always been one of my low key favorite members on here, it's been awesome to be on a team with you these past few seasons and finally win a cup
@ShawnGlade for being an oustanding defensemen for us, and being kind enough to trade us that great asset!

    1. I feel great another series that I did well. Helped his team and kept himself out of the box as much as he could.
    2. Yes hindsight being 20/20 I think we can get them in 6.
    3. We have to out shoot them so much since they have a great goalie.
    4. Nope I like to think I give 100% toward every game this one should not be any different.
    5. I like to think I do. It could just be me but I was drafted higher than anyone expected me to go by this team and I feel like I owe them so much for putting the faith in me that anything less than my 100% every game would be wrong of me to do to the team and organization.
    6. I can't think of that until after the win, I need to focus on what is ahead of me now or we might not get it.
    7. I think they will go crazy, It would be a great send of to Louth and the city deserves it.
    8. Louth has been our leader and his strong play all season has gotten us here I think when the time comes and he will not let up even though these are some of his last games.
    9. No more than normal.
    10. Yes but I think our back up goalie is the future of this organization and next year he will do great things and kingfisher has shown him what to do its now time for Greg Eagles to be our future.

    1) Vancouver just upset Toronto in 5 games, how are you feeling after that amazing series win?

    2) Another rematch in the finals with Helsinki, do you think this is the year Vancouver can take it all?

    3) What does the team have to do to beat Helsinki?

    4) Do you do anything differently to prepare for a cup final?

    5) Which player has the most to prove in this series?

    6) If we win the Cup, where would you take it on your 1 day with the cup?

    7) How would the fans react if we win our first cup?

8 ) Who do you think will win the Playoff MVP?

    9) Are you feeling any pressure heading into this series?

    10) Kingfisher is having a great playoffs so far, can he keep up his hot play in the finals?

    8. Which teammate are you most proud of this season?
Julius Freeman deserves some love, almost 40 goals next to Louth who is also a goal scorer, same pace in playoffs as well with 9 goals, really starting to be one of the best players in the league and a real threat in every game with his goal scoring ability!

    9. Which teammate do you think has improved the most this season?
Freeman is a great bet, from 12 goals to 37 is a ´nice´ jump, but also players like Gruber and Jagr have taken big steps forward and are key reasons behind Vancouvers excellent year!

    10. If you could change one thing about our season this year what would it be?
Maybe the first 20 or so games, not exactly as smooth as we hoped, get more wins early and maybe we could have finished first overall in the standings, but cant be too mad about anything now!

    1) Vancouver just upset Toronto in 5 games, how are you feeling after that amazing series win?
Really good, excellent series from the whole team. We really showed everybody we have what it takes to win when it matters the most!

    2) Another rematch in the finals with Helsinki, do you think this is the year Vancouver can take it all?
Late answer, but I knew we had what it takes to beat them. The offensive firepower we had in the team gave me personally a nice confidence boost for playoffs!

    3) What does the team have to do to beat Helsinki?
Classic answer, but staying out of the penalty box is the key. Gotta make it as hard as possible for other team to score and hope that in the other end we are able to use our chances and score!
  12. Thanks

The Wolves are back in the finals for a second consecutive year and Greg Eagles couldn't be happier

Vancouver beat the Legion 4 games to 1 which surprised many people. The series was expected to be much closer as Toronto dominated all season. The series came down to a goalie duel except for a one-off lopsided loss to Vancouver.

" It's been a great atmosphere in the locker room and in the city, fans are going crazy because they know that we have a very good shot of winning it all this year" Eagles said " This has also been a great experience for myself as a rookie, i'm just taking it all in and trying to learn what I can from it"

Now Vancouver will have a finals rematch with Helsinki.

“ I believe we can win, we are very optimistic and I think we really picked up our game in the second half of the season and into the playoffs” Said Eagles “ We have came up with some plays especially for them, so we shall see if they work!”

The thing about a goalie duel is the winner is usually never a goalie. Someone scores eventually, and he becomes the hero whose name is remembered forever, who lifts his stick, celebrates and receives the cheers while the goalie who ends up winning the game has to skate the full length of the ice, stay humble and celebrate the goal scorer. The goalie then has to talk about the amazing goal during the interview but never anything about the duel.

That goalie in the Wolves vs Legion playoff series was Ismond Kingfisher. Kingfisher held his team in it all series and in game 5 put on a show to stop 25 out of 26 shots to win it in overtime. Ismond won’t be remembered as the hero of the game though. The hero was Shawn Glade who netted the winner.

The other thing about a goalie duel is there is a loser. Someone lets in a goal eventually, and he becomes the one who was not good enough, the villain who has to bear up under that name and shake it off, Someone that will be harassed by fans and news reporters because they let in that goal and has to move on to the next game. It's hard when the next game isn’t until next season. It’s hard when that one goal ends your season.

JB Rift was the man who let one in. He played an exceptional game, fighting to the last second to give his team a win but what Rift was fighting for was only a delay of the inevitable. The writing was on the wall for his Toronto Legion. After an amazing regular season, they were defeated in just 5 games.

The highly entertaining fifth game of the Wolves vs Legion playoff series will go down as an incredible goal-tending battle. The Legion pressed early, but Kingfisher would not budge, making a number of highlight reel saves to keep the game scoreless. In the third period both goalies let in a goal each within one minute of each other. As the teams both tightened up with overtime approaching, the game slowed down. That didn’t last very long, as they picked up full steam right out of the gate in overtime. The goalies matched each other save-for-save, and it didn’t seem like either of them were about to crack in the first minute.

Then the unthinkable happened as the Legion received a penalty by Oyorra Arroyo. The ensuing powerplay was too much for Rift and Glade managed to get one past him giving the Wolves the win and another opportunity to play in the finals.

Many Fans and broadcasters will remember the goal for many seasons to come but will they remember the goalie duel? We highly doubt it.

This wasn’t just a one-off, the whole series was a duel between Kingfisher and Rift. Maybe it is time for us to remember the goalies and the battles they put up against one another and not only the forwards or defenders for scoring the game winning goals.

We here at Wroclaw Times have nothing against the goal scoring heroes and we are excited the team we have been following all year is going to the finals, we just believe the goalies should get a little more respect when a great goalie duel happens. Give them some credit as well.

Greg_Di reacted to jRuutu in Thoughts on Helsinki
When I´m thinking about Helsinki Titans, such words and terms like skill, dedication, and likability are heavily overshadowed by luck, biased referees and a favorable schedule. If you stand in a street corner somewhere in Helsinki for three hours - almost a miracle if you find someone who is openly willing to admit they are a fan of the Helsinki Titans. Not a surprise to those who have watched Helsinki Titans home games, often empty stands and what makes the quality of the games even worse is the ice.

To add favorable advantage to their team - they are using cow urine mixed with salt water to make the ice, so the smell is noticeable and ice is not as fast as in most of the arenas.

The hatred towards Titans in Finland has a long history, starting from the player's ability to speak Finnish. 99% refuse to learn it, which only creates a bigger gap between the fans and the team. Then there is the openly racist draft policy towards Finnish players - the management refuses to draft a Finnish born player if there is any way they can avoid it. There is nothing that makes Helsinki Titans management more happy than seeing Finnish hockey suffer.

Helsinki Titans - a team that is easy to hate and hard to like.

Greg_Di got a reaction from Elmebeck in Wroclaw Times - Eagles completes first VHL Season
The season has finally ended and Greg Eagles has played in his first VHL Season. It was an up and down season but many saw the future potential of this up and coming prospect. He has learned quite a bit from his team-mates and especially the teams veteran goalies Kingfisher.

Eagles played in 19 games this season with 16 of those being full game starts. His record was pretty good going 6-7-3 with a .902 save percentage and a 2.85 GAA. He was given more starts then the league required minimum which shows that his team and coaches have faith in his abilities.

The 2.85 GAA landed Eagles 7th overall in the league but since he only played 19 games you can’t really compare him to other goalies who played a full season. Yet it is still impressive that he managed to pull of those numbers in his rookie season.

“ I think as my first season as a backup that I put up pretty respectable numbers. I tried to give my team the best chance to win every night and to also show everyone what I am capable of” Said Eagles “ I am happy with my stats and next year my goal will be to do even better and improve on those stats, I think we will have a great team next season which will help in that goal”

With Eagles getting 19 games this helped Kingfisher with his workload and to make sure Kingfisher was rested and at 100% for the playoffs. This tactic seems to have paid off as Kingfisher currently has the second best Save % and GAA in the playoffs. He also seems to be playing much better then he did in the first half of the season.

“ It’s a long season for sure, especially after being in the league for so long and doing this season after season, its good to get some rest and have your backup play” Said Kingfisher “ I think it was important for me to get rest and for me to understand that it is ok to take a break. It has definitely paid off as I feel great heading into the playoffs”

“It changes every year, how many games we rest our starter but you would have to ask Kingfisher how it affected him. Maybe the mental rest helped, you know helped him sort of reset. We always discuss how much we want to play our number 1 and how much we want to play our number 2 for development purposes” Said the Wolves coach “I think that both our goalies are very professional and are helping each other out, I know Eagles learned a lot from Kingfisher and hopefully that will carry over when he becomes our future starter"

The focus now, for Eagles, is to be the support system on the bench. He can be seen helping the coach with plays and talking to his team-mates on how to find more open space. The Wolves currently have a 3-2 series lead and are hoping to close out the series tomorrow.
