    DoktorFunk reacted to Juice in Toronto Legion: If Every Player Was A Dessert
    Now while I've come back from my amazing (seriously would of rather have went to somewhere fun like 🌯MEXICO CITY 🌯 rather than Whitehorse) VHL vacation, I decided that it's time to really pick up a quarantine hobby that is both fun and is actually a good skill to have overall. And that skill I decided to pick up was baking!

    There's something so calming and relaxing about the baking process compared to regular cooking, as there is a lot more waiting while things are in the oven for example where you can focus on other parts of the baking process...or take a quick 10 minute break to get a CHEL match in 👀

    Now with my new hobby having lots of different creations and ideas of what can be made, I figured what is better than mixing my two favourite things; the Toronto Social Club and Baked Goods!

    Thus, please find my fellow Legion members as delicious treats!

    @fromtheinside Eszterházy torta

    Now I haven't had the chance to make this amazing dish as of yet (mostly because it's very complicated and hard to perfectly do it) but I can't think of anyone better than Mr. Scotty Kaberle himself to represent this cake. When I first arrived in Budapest, I wanted to have something sweet and authentic. This cake is by far my favourite dessert on the planet and blows me away everytime I have it. It reminds me a lot of how Scotty was the first person I really connected with in the VHL and I'll always have a soft spot for the second coming of Komisarek.

    @BOOM Black Forest Cake

    Black Forest Cake has a special place in my heart like no other, so I think that's perfect for BOOM-city himself since he's still my valentine 😍 Black Forest Cake was my go-to for every single birthday cake I had as a child, and although I could always go without the cherries on top and I was never a big fan of most cakes, I would always demolish this year after year. Sweet, but not sweet enough to make you sick and tired of eating it and you'd always want more. Nothing better than the best nostalgic cake to me personally for one of the best new member of the Social Club.

    @Peace Cheesecake

    I mean, I couldn't pick a better dessert for the cheesiest person I've met thus far. The amount of dad-jokes and puns in the locker-room I believe might have played a part in the self-destruction of my laptop. With that being said, a cheesecake is a classic and original, and not many people hate this dessert as it's that well liked. Peace is a wonderful GM and he made such a big turn around for the Legion team where we have such a close knit amazing group, and I could tell after our intense and long draft interview that Toronto would be a perfect fit for me, and I'm glad to have been drafted here immensely.

    @Smarch Ice Cream Cake

    Smarch is the best pick-up in Toronto by far, and everyone knows my love for BOOM so that says a lot. But I assume everyone else in the Social Club would say the same as this is the sweetest and chillest guy in the locker-room. Every day to wake up to his messages about the upcoming games and to enjoy the day or the weekend is what I look forward to whenever I see a notification in the locker-room early on in the day. An underrated cake due to it's bit obscurity (since most people go for easier and regular cakes), but it's easily one of the best cakes possible to have due to it's uniqueness. I think that description suits Smarch absolutely fine as people didn't really notice him in the deal that sent him to Toronto, but I assume Smarch will prove people wrong soon enough as he's an amazing personality and player for us.

    @ROOKIE745 Macaron

    Rookie will go down in history for Toronto, and he's an absolute class act who loves this team through and through and everyone in the locker-room would tell you that it's heartbreaking that we don't have a large chance to get him a cup here. Despite all the trades that really downgraded our chance to make a playoff push, he wanted to stick with the team all the way through to the end. What is a better way to show off a class act like himself than one of the fanciest desserts around like a macaron. We love you @ROOKIE745❤️

    @Rayzor_7Gingersnap Cookies

    Rayz is a beast and a half, and he's a firecracker at that. He will tell you how it is and russle some feathers, but he also has a sweet side to him that shows because he's a core member of our social club. Drafted alongside him in the last VHL Draft, we came right into Toronto together and I believe we both helped shape the Legion into what it is now. I think a gingersnap is a perfect representation of him as he has that kick of cinnamon but overall deep inside he's a fluffy sugary boy, even if he hides that side of him 😉

    @DoktorFunk Chocolate Cupcake

    Now this may be a chocolate cupcake, but don't mistake that this Jolly Green Giant cupcake wouldn't be as green as possible! Entering into the locker-room, several of us were rookies coming up prepping for our first VHL season, and Jolly was one of these people. Friendly and funny, the team wouldn't be the same if he wasn't there from the very beginning which perfectly suits him being a cupcake as nobody hates a cupcake.

    I'm very sorry to everyone I've missed, but my brain doesn't hold enough information to think up more baked goods to associate people with, but everyone on the Toronto Legion team plays an integral part in making our team so close together.

    I hope you enjoyed my awful attempt at matching people with baked goods using somewhat suspect descriptions!

    2. Eagles. I am not sure how if there are eagles,  but I love this animal as a symbol of sport club, because it is very brave, royal and maesteso. Something which need every successful sport team.
    3. Haha, that is funny question. I have never thought about it. Maybe Arizona, It isn't very popular team for fans, so maybe Coyotes.
    4. My favorite question. Goalie: Barry Brust / NHL Active- Ben Bishop
    Dman: Cam Barker / NHL Active- Filip Hronek
    Forward:
    Crosby

    GMS: DON'T BE OFFENDED BY THIS. I'VE SEEN EVERY SINGLE TEAM DO IT AND IT'S JUST BECOME A NORM.

                             Fresh off the VHL sims, feeling pretty good about Zetterstrom's performance, I check out the M sims and am blindsided by blowout after blowout. I'm seeing games that are 7-3, 8-3, 7-2, and a couple 5-2s. But this isn't really the problem, just an example of aftermath. The issue with the VHLM right now is that teams are trying to win or tank. It's that simple. It was especially apparent at this draft, where teams like the Bulls and the Storm were just piling up picks; while teams like the Marlins struggled with no picks until the seventh round. After I watched that draft happening before my eyes, as Houston literally drafted half of the first round, I knew this season was going to be rough out of the gates. And it has been. The Bulls have only lost one game, and the Storm 3. They're doing that while the Aces and the Wild flounder, both with nine losses. The parody in this league is gone.

                And then we take a look at the differences in roster sizes. Let's compare the the team with the most players, the Storm, versus the team with the least players, the Lynx.

                    We're looking at 22 players versus 9. That's a 13 player difference. And it's not one we can take lightly. This is not only affecting the crazy high scores of the games, but of the retention of members. If you can look closely, you'll see Sean Ramirez on Minnesota. He's an EFL guy, and so far he has claimed only base TPE and an affiliate PT. But what we're really going to look into is his ice time while playing for Minnesota.

          Two minutes and 33 seconds. And he's not the only one. Jacob Oldenburger, Nathan Askarov, and Gary Tarantino ll also had under 3 minutes of ice time in the game. And let me tell you, this is not acceptable. Let's now look at the ice time a bot got on Ottawa:

    The highest forward, which applies to Askarov and Ramirez, got more than 8 minutes of ice time, as well as limited power play and penalty killing time. That's a 6 minute difference, which, spread across a 72 game season, is a *pulls out calculator* 432 minute difference. Four hundred minutes. And that's not the worst of it

          Then there's the defenceman issue. At the draft, there was a massive run on defencemen. They were getting prioritized over forwards more than one hundred TPE more than them. And, believe it or not, the teams like the Bulls and the Storm, hogged all the defencemen! You wanna know how many defencemen Minnesota has? Seven. Ottawa? ONE! This is not acceptable! A bot defencemen on Ottawa got 20 minutes of ice time! When a defencemen on Minnesota gets less than 3! There's no way this happens unless a team is trying to win, and another is trying to not.

                      So after all those statistics and comparisons, I'll finally get to the part where I recommend a rule change. What I want to come out of this is a player limit on VHLM rosters. Nothing too sharp, so that teams have to constantly trade guys to stay under, but one that prevents what happened with the Storm and the Bulls to happen. It will also prioritize the use of the Juniors, which have gone untouched so far because of the massive gaps on the rosters of non-contenders. The limit could also change by season, so if we get a  massive recruitment wave, we can expand the limit. I'm welcome to criticism from GMs and commishes about this suggestion.

              Just to nail it in: THE VHLM IS ABOUT RETENTION AND DEVELOPMENT, NOT WINNING AND TANKING. Apologies to any GMs I may have offended while doing this, just know that I have seen every single team do what I just described in the last couple seasons.

    Isau’s First Radio Interview (Transcript)

    The following is Isau DaMoose’s first radio interview (recorded November 25, 2020) during which he promised to keep his remarks family-rated and not to”do a Torts”.  At this time I would also like to introduce a first-time interviewer, Gail Force.  A person from whom I expect you will hear a lot more.

    Gail:  Hi Isau!  I so appreciate your making time for this my first and, coincidentally, your first radio interview.  I understand that you have agreed not to do a John Tortorella interview.

    Isau:  No comment.  (Laughter).  Seriously though, thanks for having me on.  It was a real thrill to be approached by your network for this opportunity.  So, I am pretty excited about being here with you today.

    Gail:  I guess the first question that the fans would ask is “What’s up with your name?”  No offence, of course.

    Isau: (More laughter)  None taken Gail.  Ya I know it is a little sorta/kinda old fashioned and rural.  But, what can I say.  You can’t choose your parents.  Anyways, I like it….it’s got some colour, you know.

    Gail:  Who is your favourite NHL hockey player?

    Isau:  As far as current players are concerned, I gotta go with Auston Matthews.  We play the same position.  The guy has size and a tremendous shot.  I also like that he comes to the rink ready to play.  Good pro attitude.

    With regard to older retired players my favourite is Phil Esposito.  Again we play the same position.  Phil would go to the tough areas in front of the net in order to hack in a goal or two.  I also like Phil’s colourful leadership.  He still does a great interview.

    Gail:  So, Isau, you were drafted 38th overall by the Riga Reign and 14th overall by the Philadelphia Reapers.  Have you any thoughts about the draft and your position in it ?

    Isau:  That almost inspired a Torts answer…..”no”.  But in all fairness, I was excited about the draft and pleasantly surprised that I was picked up that early by both teams, given that I had only played a total of 57 games with the Mexico City Kings @Hylands the previous season. I had no preconceived notion about where I wanted to play.  I mean, hell, it's the bigs, right ??  Or at least almost the bigs as far as the Reapers are concerned.

    Gail:  Can we talk about the Reapers for a bit ?

    Isau:  Sure, so long as you know that what happens in the locker room stays in the locker room.

    Gail:  The Reapers got off to a great start going 8 - 0 before dropping a couple of close ones.  They entered the playoffs as a number one seed and, after an inspired 15 - 3 playoff run won the Founder’s Cup, defeating the Mexico City Kings in 6 games.   To what do you contribute this degree of success.

    Isau:  Ya, we were playing inspired hockey as were the Kings, with whom I spent part of last season.  So, I know how hard they work for success.  Having said that, the Reapers @DMaximus also have a strong management group and the guys have a strong work ethic.  I was proud to be a Reaper and was particularly happy to be able to contribute to the team’s success.  The guys up front that really carried the load for us are Bouchard, @Gaikoku-hito McLaren @tcookie and Marimoto. @dariusmarimotoman  Nilsson  @RomanesEuntDomus and JGG @DoktorFunk certainly pitched in from the back end.  Just an all round great team.

    Gail:  I notice that you didn’t mention your output.  With 19 goals and 31 assists in 72 games  Not too shabby, don’t you think??

    Isau:  Well I am not one to wave my stats around too much.  But thanks for the compliment.  I have picked up the pace a bit, I guess, in the past few games.  The coaching staff has been working with me to develop my passing and stick handling skills. So, I guess that is paying off.

    Gail:  So what about Riga ? @hedgehog337  Will you be going there next season ?

    Isau:  Well, Riga holds my contract, so I hope to play there next season.  But you know how the business of hockey works.  Unless you have a no-trade deal, you could be traded anywhere if a team needs a particular part to win it all.  I certainly hope to be part of the Reign for the foreseeable future.  They have a strong management team as well.  Just take a look at the number of early round draft picks they negotiated for in the previous entry level draft.  And take a peak at the talent they drafted.  Addy McLaren, my Reapers teammate, Cabe McJake, @RedSus Dolant Fertitta @Dolant just to name a few.  They are all burnin’ it up….   They are faltering a bit this season, but the recent acquisition of Ben McGirr and Calvin Harvey @Mrpenguin30 seems to have ignited the flame a bit.  I see them in the role of spoiler for the balance of the season.  A gratifying place to be if you don’t have the depth to take it deep into the playoffs.

    Gail:  I am sure that the fans, particularly the young women, would like to know a bit about your personal life.  Have you a partner ?

    Isau:  “Partner”....so politically correct (chuckle).  Ya a girlfriend, Nikki Starr.

    Gail:  So what’s happening on that front given that you are here in Philly?

    Isau:  Well, she is back home in Swords shovelling snow, hunting deer and learning Lettish.

    Gail:  Lettuce...what do you mean….lettuce ???

    Isau:  Lettish, Gail.  Latvian.  In case we end up in Riga next season.  She wants to be able to immerse herself in the culture and to do that you gotta be able to communicate.  On the ice it's different...we all speak profanity. (Laughter)  About Nikki, though, you will hear more about her story in my biography, but are gonna have to wait until Season 7 for that to be published….

    Gail:  Quite a girl.  Anything else you could share about her ?

    Isau:  Ya, sure.  I can tell you a Nikki story, of which there are many.  I was playing in Swords at the time and we had a game against the Magnetawan River Rats.  Nikki and a few of the other girls had got together to watch the game.  They went and sat in what would be the nosebleed section of the rink.  As far from the ice surface as possible where, during the game they apparently enjoyed a bottle of purloined Screech that one of them had liberated.  I had had a pretty good game 2 goals and an assist as I recall.  So after the game I went to Nikki and said “So what did you think ??”  To which she replied “Ummmm….what colour were you ???”  Ya….that’s my girl !!

    Gail:  My kinda girl !!!

    Isau:  Do we have the time? I could share another story if you want?

    Gail:  By all means !

    Isau:  I have to preface this story with a couple of things.  Firstly, Nikki is a small town Northern Ontario girl.  And, like all of us from up there, kinda crinkly around the edges, if you know what I mean.  Secondly, the rinks that we played in were rudimentary at best.  The ice surface was good on account of it being brass monkey weather for several months, but the stands left a lot to be desired.  There was a wire mesh behind the nets to protect those brave souls who watched us play, but there was no barrier along the length of the ice surface.  So the fans could come right down to the boards.  This caused some fan interference, but such was life in the rock ‘em sock ‘em world of rural hockey.
          Anyway, I was playing for the Swords Slashers at the time and the team lived up to its name providing a strangely entertaining brand of extremely physical play.  We were playing the Trout Creek Dolly Vardens.  On this one play I went to the boards to get the puck and one of the Dollys came up behind me and ran the shaft of his stick up my spine.  I can still feel every painful vertebra.  So this got me PO’ed and I swung the guy around so that his back was to the boards and prepared to retaliate.  That’s when I knew I was in trouble.  My nose didn’t even come up to the guy’s breastbone.  I gave him a shove, thinking “This is not gonna end well”.  When all of a sudden the big boy went down in a heap on the ice.  Nikki had come out of the stands with her long-strapped purse and tommy hawked the guy!!! She must have had her penny collection in there!  The rink had a shared penalty box to which we were both escorted for the obligatory 5 to contemplate our sins.  The guy had mostly regained his senses and in this big old Newfie accent asked “Gosh and begorrah, lad,  what did ya hit me with. I never even seen it coming!!”  How do you respond to that ??? To this day, have never lived down how I won my one and only fight.   Yup….what a girl.

    Gail:  I like her more and more.  Maybe I should be interviewing her rather than you.  It sounds more interesting.

    Isau:  Ya….it likely would be.

    Gail:  Getting back to hockey, if you had to describe yourself as a hockey player in three words, what would they be.

    Isau:  Awwww….you are just trying to get me to give you a Tortorella answer.  OK, so, three words….. intense, efficient and team-oriented.

    Gail:  Hockey players can be superstitious types.  Have you any pre-game rituals ?

    Isau: Yes.

    Gail: (giggles)  Too funny, care to share.

    Isau:  As I got to the pros I found myself becoming patterned.  Game day meal usually consists of grilled fish or chicken with a bunch of green stuff.  I take pleasure in sitting at the same place in the dressing room with the same guys sitting alongside me.  Strangely I have to put on my left skate first, but tighten my right skate first.  We all have our little quirks, so more radical that others.  We have a guy who taps his stick exactly 93 times before every game.  Another who after he tapes his stick no one can touch it.  If someone does, he has to retape the stick.

    Gail:  What do most like about the center ice position?

    Isau:  I like the fact that a center is involved in the game at both ends.  You have to have some offensive punch and yet be defensively responsible.

    Gail:  When did you start playing hockey ?

    Isau:  Well, a lot of this material will be covered in my biography as I mentioned earlier as well as in a couple of other short media spots that I am contracted for.  So, without giving too much away,  I first laced up a pair of skates in the non-existent hamlet of Gargantua.  Thats a place maybe 100 miles north of the Soo on the shore of Lake Superior.

    Gail:  Were you at any time encouraged to be particularly physical as a player ?

    Isau:  Thats a tough one, Gail.  I mean hockey, by its very nature, is a physical game.  So you gotta take the body and finish your checks.  In that sense, yes, I was encouraged to be physical.  If you mean getting into fights or being illegally creative with your stick, the answer to that is a general “No”.  However, I alluded to the Swords Slashers a while back.  Now that was one rough team.  Apparently, if you were a Slasher you had to live down to the name!!!

    Gail:  If the game is so rough, injuries must occur on a regular basis.  What was your most serious injury ?

    Isau:  Yup, injuries are a fact of life for most hockey players.  They can range from relatively minor strains to career changing events.  I have been extremely fortunate in that the most serious injury I have had is likely a hangnail. (chuckle).  Seriously though if you keep yourself in top physical condition and skate with your head up, you can avoid a lot of the situations in which you could get seriously hurt.

    Gail:  OK, Isau, last question.  Why do you play hockey ?

    Isau:  I guess you figured you were going to save your toughest question until the end of the interview.  In fact, it's one of the easier ones.  In short “Because it's fun”.  Really, think about it, someone is paying me to PLAY.  Doesn’t really get much better.

    Gail:  Isau, thanks so much for doing this.  It was a slice !!  Can we get you back again sometime ?

    Isau:  Gail, it was a rare pleasure.  Just contact my agent and I am sure we can set up another talk.

    Victory Hockey League In Shock as Jolly Greene Giant Announces US Presidential Campaign

    The world was shocked today when Jolly Greene Giant, the rookie defenseman from the Toronto Legion stated that they would like to announce that they are running for president. This is an unprecedented statement from a sports player of any kind, much less a player of Jolly Greene Giant's  renown. When asked for comment, Jolly Greene Giant had this to say: "Ho ho, ho ho!"

    Backlash against this statement is quite understandable. Jimmy Spyro of the Vancouver Wolves says “He has no business being in politics, unless he joins the Green Party,” and continues to say "This is career suicide.” The reason they feel this way is reasonable, as the comments made by Jolly Greene Giant are somewhat at odds with the rest of the Victory Hockey League, and it would be difficult for him to play hockey AND be president.

    Jolly Greene Giant isn’t without his supporters, however. Plenty of his friends have expressed their excitement for him. Frank Funk, Jr. of the Toronto Legion is one of their most prominent supporters, and has even gone as far as joining Jolly Greene Giant on stage at a recent press conference to defend them. “You're looking at the next US President," says Funk. “Make America Greene Again!”

    This kind of statement is the type that will continue to draw attention to Jolly Greene Giant. They’re already quite the high-profile player on the Toronto Legion and there are those that would say no publicity is bad publicity.

    However, these comments have received their fair share of backlash from even the higher-ups in the Victory Hockey League community. One of the highest profile dissenters of the Board of Governors, GustavMattias, had this to say about the comments: “No comment.”

    Jolly Greene Giant responded by saying “I understand why they had to react this way. I really do. But I think he missed the broader context of what I said. When I say ‘Ho Ho', I say it for the betterment of the entire Victory Hockey League and to call attention to the growing dissatisfaction that is addressed in what I said. Gustav would do well to remember that.

    Going against someone as powerful as Gustav could be a big mistake for Jolly Greene Giant, but, if what they say is true, the Giant sees themselves as a RotY Candidate and a Presidential Candidate. Sometimes these movements gain traction, but more often than not, they fizzle out. We have no doubt that Jolly Greene Giant has the best of intentions, but the way that they’ve chosen to express it has certainly ruffled some feathers.

    If the Giant wasn’t as skilled as they are, they might not have chosen to speak up the way that they have. But, as it is, the Victory Hockey League may not be able to tolerate one of it’s brightest stars speaking up in this manner. Punishment may not be far behind. We will keep you posted as this story develops.

    I'm super excited about this Ottawa team we have going so far. At first, I was tempted to write this year off. Losing our first round draft pick is tough, but we still had most of our other picks, and it's an excellent opportunity to build something great for the future! We've got @snackhero, a rock solid first line center. We've got @Blastmeaway on the wing. We've got @Barry holding it down in the net, and @Joshothegreat , @Rhenry707, @Lvhockeybest6, and @Aivarszz playing hungry and getting better every game! The one thing we need is some defense. If we can pick up a few defenders, Ottawa is going to be unreal!

    We recently picked up our first win of the season against Miami. The locker room was electric! I'm so excited because everyone is here, ready to play, and supportive of each other. It's a new era in the Ottawan Empire! There’s a bright future ahead of us!

    My gameday

    Most of players have som rituals before games. And most of them never tell to you, how it closer looks like. I don´t have any concretely ritual like specific music or something like that, but I have very strictly scheduled game day. If something does not go according plan, it would be see on my play. So this is how it looks like:

    Morning:
    I can not sleep well before match, because every single game is a huge response for me as a goalie who makes a 60, maybe 70 percent of team success. This is why I always get up at 7 AM. At first, I go to the toilet to do morning hygiene. I am there plus/minus 15 minutes. After that follows breakfast time. I choose from one of three meals in my menu.  One and most favorites are scrambled eggs. The second option is porridge with honey and cinnamon. And the third one is yoghurt with honey or jam. When we have morning pre-game meeting I always go there. If not, I spent time on my swimming pool or with video games. Mainly sport games, but some medieval ones I play too.

    Launch Time:
    I eat launch at 12:00. I have usually pasta with tomato or cheese sauce. I have not any meat with it. Soup depends on the second course. If I have the pasta with tomato sauce, the soup is from potatoes or from carrot or bothJ. If I have pasta with cheese, then is usually tomato soup.
    Afternoon:
    After launch, I go to the walk around city. I am outside at least for 30 minutes, but max. for an hour. When I am back at home I read some books till the time when are three hours before match. Here I will stop for a few words, because the games aren’t always at the same time, so sometimes I haven’t time to read and in few cases, there is no time to go to the walk. When is this or similar situation I do this things in the morning. However, go back to the time, when I need to go to the stadium. I prepare myself and go to the locker room. There I check my sticks, jersey and welcome another guys. When all boys are there, we have together time before game.

    After Game:
    When the game ends, next program is according teammates, but if we have not any together activities, I go at home and there I have a warm bath. After it I have a dinner. Now it is something with lots of meat. My favorites are burgers or steaks. After dinner follows bedtime, or if the game was played sooner as usually I watch some movies. I don’t have favorite ones, but I like detective films or good western.

    So this is my game day summary. Thanks for reading. This has been my very first article, but I think my writing will be better and better with every single text. I hope that this was interesting reading for you. Have a nice day and good luck!

    DoktorFunk reacted to Joshothegreat in Josho The Great Starts The Season!
    It was not the result that the Ottawa Lynx were looking for in their first 2 games. An opening 8-2 loss to the Reapers and then followed that up with 7-4 loss to the Halifax 21st. But it was many firsts for many young players on the Ottawa team. Including 6th round draft pick Josho. Earlier in the season we asked Josho what his expectations were for the upcoming season and he said " I hope I can do every part for my team to be successful and win games". That definitely wasn't the case in game number 1 against the Reapers. The entire Ottawa team looked lost against one of the top teams in the league and Josho did struggle through most parts of the first game.

    Joshooo 0 0 0 -4 0 4 2 0 0 0 2/4 25:18 3:23 0:00
    With a minus 4 rating and no points scored it was not the game that Josho was hoping for but he did play 25 minutes during the game which shows that the team does have confidence in what he can do. When asked about his performance he said " For sure I was nervous at first but as the game went on I really thought that I was hitting my stride late in the 3rd period but at that point it was to late obviously".  Josho gave his team mates praise for the game they played and not giving up even when being down by so much. But game 2 for the team as a whole was much better especially for Josho.

                                  Josho  2 1 3 0 0 8 0 0 0 0 1/2 26:22 0:52 0:00
    Game 2 was much closer for sure with a score of 7-4 and Josho was the best player for the Lynx that game hands down. with 2 goals and 3 points Josho really showed his true potential and what he can do in this league on any given night, he also logged 26 minutes of ice time just a minute more than the first game. Speaking with Josho he was very happy in the effort the entire team put it. When asked if he was happy to score his first goals and points of the season he said " Well of course I was happy to score my first goal but I am not worried about that right now, I am just worried about with getting back to practice working with the group and coming out even stronger next game. It is all about this team to me and I was really proud of the group and what we were able to do out there".

    This Ottawa team is going to have some growing pains for sure because of how young of a group they are but they will be an exciting team to watch for sure. They take to the ice for the next game tomorrow 7ET against the Miami be sure to check out this great young team!

    Another season is upon us, and for the first time in a little while we've got an entirely new alternate group within our leadership.

    As always our leadership group is a vote in democracy, and a random tie breaker using either random list generators or WheelDecide (the website) to decide who'll be where if we can't do it ourselves.

    I wonder what politics would look like if two arguing parties just flipped a coin over some laws.

    Anyway.

    LEGION FANS!

    You're S76 leadership group!

    I'd like to honor John Merrick ( @Steve ) for his valiant effort in WheelDecide. It was a crazy time and you came close to the C on your jersey, but the wheel pulled the Jedi Council trick on you. You were invited to the council, but it did not grant you the rank of master. We know you won't go slaughtering our younglings and training Padawan, right?

    -      Dok and Spyro put me a guy coming from what looked to be a retirement when i chose not to sign in the VHLM my contract ended with the Reapers and was not offered a contract to resign, I did what any other EX-Pro hockey player does... move home and DOMINATE the local beer league getting tuned with the boys in the dressing room before and after. it was good times, a former teammate of mine from Bantam started a new team in the local beer league and obviously i wanted to come and show off in front off all the local puck bunnies at the Sunday and Friday 11 or 12 PM 60 minutes straight time hockey . The team turned out to be an actual local news story.. Yup a Beer League team was getting local news coverage online from saultsports and this is coming from a town that lives, eats , sleeps , breathes, and probably shits hockey too with the craziest fanbase and INCREDIBLE minor hockey AAA system and a Junior A team that hasn't been out of the CJHL Top 10 rankings in my lifetime, not to mention the Soo Pee Wee program run by legendary former Sault Greyhound (the "Real" team everyone "KNOWS" everything about and are always right lol) and Former OHL,NHL Star as a player turned coach and also winning a WJHC Gold Medalist as Coach of Team Canada U20 Hockey in the Soo is kind of a big deal.

    Back to the Beer League , well the teams name was agreed upon by the roster to be the Wheeling Whalers, we had a group of what i thought to be Rag Tag mostly AA even BB or Highschool guys with maybe 1 or 2 games of AAA experience in there life... BOY WAS I WRONG. Back tracking a little, from day one when I expressed my interest to the team manager he asked about what position i am ? I found this question honestly very confusing as i have played Forward my whole life and never once even played a game as a defenseman when we had short roster ive literally never played the position. So i decide to respond with im playing Defence!!! (leading to me being a D now , clearly it was a success and a decision i wish i made as a teenager as i am clearly a born defender and shine much brighter on the back end, NOT saying im not the PF i proved to be in Philly because I can still do all of it. When i saw the team roster i actually only recognized two names... 1st our Goalie and Co Manager/CFO J.Mancuso. Mancuso and i where teammates WAY back when at the age of 9 before AAA was even an option. Mancuso and his family would later go on to move down south shortly after where J spent his years playing hockey down south but never anywhere close to AAA level. Funny enough Mancuso and his family would move back to Sault Ste Marie ten years into the future, a decade later. I only found this out by asking my teammate during a HS game WHO THE FUCK is that silky forward with no # on his jersey !?!? Yup Mancuso wasnt only a top quality Goalie but a Top notch and Top 6 forward caliber player as well and the HS league SOMEHOW allowed him to play both positions .

    Secondly was the name that honestly made me call my dad instantly when I saw because i was so excited. "Kaelan O'Flynn" a.k.a. "Kaelan Brown-O'Flynn", O-Flynn is one of the best players i played with in my youth hockey days and remain friends to this day along with my other VERY close friend who was also a member of this age group so i know the age group very well, Kaelen , Cody and I have always remained in contact regarding our mutual burning passion for watching local minor hockey.  O-Flynn was a HIGHLY HIGHLY touted young player, the only reason we were teammates was because he was scoring 7 goals a game against the kids his age, and they moved him from Minor to Major (about 15 kids usually do this) But Kaelen was still WAY ahead of his age group in development at the time and was after two months placed into the Major league with my Age group Two years Older (THAT NEVER HAPPENS). Kaelen would go on to fizzle out as he was clearly and just like everywhere has them and every age group have those players that hit their peak MUCH earlier than others and never end up being "the guy" everyone touted him to be. O-Flynn played AAA his entire youth hockey career and to say he fizzled out is almost unfair. His age groups AAA Roster was STACKED, The Sault wont ever see an age group so deep EVER again, I don't think there's ever been an age group like the 1996 Sault Boys. With the number and caliber of the Soo's youth program players that would go onto playing in the OHL, U-Sports Canadian University Hockey League, NCAA DIV 1 as well as now AHL and NHL regulars and its a 100% certainty that  more than 4 of these young men have committed there lives to this and will be making a career out of professional hockey and potentially more than 4 will end up in the Pro's and spend their career there..

    Prior to O-Flynns OHL Draft year, there had been ongoing issues behind the scenes involving coaching issues and conflicts of interest where the AAA Coach's all three had kids on the team and ice time and favoring started to become evident and obviously totally unnecessary with 13 THIRTEEN of the players in this age group O-Flynns life long teammates would go on to be selected and  drafted to the OHL. 3 of these players would go on to be NHL Draft picks all in the top 3 round lowest being 90th Ovr (Amadio). the roster included two players who are currently on NHL rosters and NHL regulars both with over 4 seasons of NHL experience Perlini and M.Amadio have both cemented themselves as NHL regulars playing top 9 minutes and special teams minutes as Amadio being a PK specialist as well as getting PP minutes , not to mention Amadio's incredible OHL career https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/151385/michael-amadio For real check him out !  ., one drafted 11th Overall (Brendan Perlini), 3 players that went on to be NHL Draft pick all in the top 3 rounds lowest being 90th Overall pick by the LA Kings (Amadio). Two other Notable players playing pro right now and working towards cracking the NHL roster is the one player that actually isnt O-Flynns age, and thats New Jersey Devils Draft pick in  B.Speers 2 years after being selected 11th Overall to the OHL by his Hometown Sault Greyhounds Blake Speers__________TBC  . First lets touch on O-Flynns former D partner R.Killins currently signed with the Tucson Roadrunner of the AHL(Arizona Coyotes of the NHLs farm team) Killins split his youth AAA days between moving from Wawa (butfuck nowhere) who only had a BB team to moving in with family in Sault Ste Marie where he spent the majority of his youth hockey. At the time the Sault did not have a Minor Midget AAA program , as ANYONE who knows ANYTHING about the OHL draft you understand the importance of your minor midget year with it being your draft year as well as the HUGE Minor Midget showcases providing players with the opportunity to be viewed playing against players there own age by 100s of Junior A, OHL, QMJHL, NCAA and even NHL scouts coming to these showcases , everyone has a clipboard.... Killins made the bold decision to move down south to live with his mother after making the prestigious Huron Perth Lakers Minor Midget Team of the "U16 Alliance League based  out of the London, Ontario Area the Alliance is the 2nd most prestigious Minor Midget League in Ontario behind the GTHL there's at least a dozen scouts at EVERY game
