  5. Sometimes when you meet a teammate, you gain a best friend, and that’s what happened with Alex Pearson and Seabass Perrin of the Prague Phantoms. They met at Prague’s inaugural development camp and hit it off instantly and have been well known community members and teammates since. They’ve been in the headlines for reckless stunts and partying in the past, but now they’re trying to make a change in their community. Alex Pearson retired at the end of last season, and has said that since then he’s been restless to start his next project, a Bar/Grill in central Prague. It would feature 3 stories, a main level for dining, and upstairs kitchen and a downstairs bar with a stage and dance floor. Perrin and Pearson just bought a property on Pařížská , one of the most luxurious streets in Prague. Perrin commented on how this was always a dream of theirs but they never had the time until Pearson finally retired, he’s been handling most of the workload while Perrin helps hold down the Phantoms blueline for his last season. Pearson commented that while they are hoping for a 2022 opening date, that remains optimistic, but will surely be helped by a potential few more phantoms who have shown interest in investing their ideas into the project. @Seabass

  7. The season 74 VHLM champions face an uphill battle to get back to where they were last season. They snuck in as the last seed in the eastern conference and rode their waiver signings all the way to the cup. General manager Kris Rice had made some pretty genius moves this offseason to get the team back to their greatness. First let’s have a look at some of the returning members who have some championship exper D-Chicken Wing @chikn Wing exploded on the VHLM Scene in his second season, scoring 69 points, 40 assists and 29 goals, which is remarkable for a defencemen. He has a booming slapper and a quick snap shot which make him a power play specialist. It will be exciting to see how he performs in his 3rd season as a veteran and newly appointed assistant captain on this young team. D-Martin Master @Martin Bradac Chicken Wings partner in crime, he is young typical stalwart stay at home defencemen. But thing with master is he does have some offensive flair to his game when needed, he is a strong passer and never struggles with getting the puck out of his zone. Expect him to munch some important minutes for Miami. D-JL Gunnar @Big Mac Perhaps one of the most underrated defenders going into this season. Gunnar is a fiery young offensive minded defenseman who should put up some impressive totals this season and may end up on second power play unit. F-Nathan Perry @tinafrombobsburgers When Perry was Acquired he was a bit of an under the radar signing, and even now I would say he still is. He’s a strong two way forward with some snarl to his game. He’s a terrific skater, and even though he only scored 3 points last season in limited games, he’s likely to increase that number this season as he plays the Power Forward role for this team. F-The great @Jake Sumner A solid depth forward for Miami last season, will likely be relied on more this season. He had shown slow but steady growth so far and scouts from Warsaw will likely keep a close eye on him this season. F-Peter Louis II @CosmicStorm Louis one of the never returning who played a large role on last year's team. He’s a tall lanky player who’s a smooth skater but also can hit and doesn't shy away from dirty hockey. He’s incredibly puck smart and once he has the puck it’s hard to get off his stick. F-Gaspar Zakversky @Pythonic Zakversky is an interesting player. He came over from russian and performed well at the start of the season, but watched his role demoniac as the waiver signings of the team joined. He’s still under contract with Miami and will be interesting to see how he plays. F-Cabe McJake @RedSus The crown jewel of last year's waiver signings. Jake was terrific for Miami in his short stint and lethal in the playoffs. He will join Miami this season but look to play with Riga next year and be a face of that franchise. He is easily the most exciting player to watch in Miami this season. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him atop of league scoring this season. An Ethan Osborne award favourite F-Theo Hoffman @snackhero The two-way Center will likely be on the top line this year. He’s not a household name yet, but if he performs for Miami this season expect people to start talking about the Hoff a lot more next year. That’s it for returning players, even though that’s a lot, it’s still a rather young team, but they have alot of experience, which is potentially the most valuable thing of all to this young squad. Now we’ll look at members Miami had added through the VHLM Draft G-Thadius Sales (Aka prison mike) @thadthrasher Perhaps the most interesting man in the league, Thad never played hockey before in his life before last season, in fact the only experience he had was someone throwing rocks at him in prison. He was Halifax’s backup last season and it’s kinda ironic that he’s the starter for Miami, the team that beat them in the finals, but that’s how the hockey gods work. He’s likely to tear this season up as a top goaltender before moving in to New York next season. G- Darcy Cat @Tropicalfire One of the youngest netminders this season will likely backup Sales this season. He hasn’t played a game yet in the VHLM But scouts will be eager to watch him in his limited games this season, and if he keeps improving he could be a starter as early as next season. D-Franz Ferdinand @-_____- The Young defenceman only played 28 games last season for Mexico but looked solid. Has everything you’d expect from a strong puck mover. Good hands, terrific balance and even though he’s a little slow to get going, once get started he can be a terrific skater. Also not afraid to throw the body around, might end up on the top pair at some point this season. D-Jerrin @Jerrin Dean The young depth defender will likely face sheltered minutes but will be an important piece for Miami. He’s a good skater who has strong defensively instincts, and his role will likely grow as the season progresses. F-Phoenix Dawson @Toast The young Center is represented by an older agency making a return to the league and this player is going to be very exciting to watch, don’t be shocked if he steals the second or even first line Center spot later in the season. He’s one of the best skaters on the team already, if his offensive game improves, then watch out. Scouts will be keeping a very close eye on Dawson F-Dickzy @dickzy Dickzy is a bit of an unknown product going into this season, he played 28 games with Yukon last season and only scored once. His role with Miami will likely increase this season and his numbers along with him. He plays the role of agitator and loves going to the front of the net to score. He will likely play a third like role for Miami this upcoming season. F-Owen Taylor @Owen Taylor Scary. That’s how VHLMer’s describes taylor. He’s 6’4 225 pounds of pure muscle, and he loves to hit and punch. He does have some scoring and defensive upside tho. He’s likely to lead the team in hits and penalties this season. Depth like this is what helps teams win championships. F-Ryan Ryker @Jayrad28 Miami’s second first round pick in the dispersal draft, they went for a right winger with a lethal shot to compliment McJake Perfectly. Ryker played for the Houston Bulls last season, he was easily their best player night in and out, he scored 12 more goals than his closest teammate, and was a force to be reckoned with every night. The Miami marauders were recently ranked 4th in the VHLM Power rankings but this team shows TONS of potential to be very very dangerous. They have depth, as well as a great balance of skill and grit in their top 6. Their one potential weakness is at the Center position but hopefully they will train hard and solidify this team. The lines seem verymuch set in stone for opening night verus Halifax and will likely look like this. McJake-Hoffman-Ryker Perry-Great-Louis II Taylor-Dawson-Dickzy Ex:Zakrevsky Wing-Masters Ferdinand-Gunnar Ex:Jerrin The lineup will likely evolve as the season progresses, and we could see certain lineup combos change, hopefully as the players in depth roles improve. They will definitely be a team that VHL Scouts and fans alike are going to watch very closely all season long.
  8. 1.Pretty stoked, even though they’re a young team they’ve already won a cup and they might do it again this year! 2.Hopefully near the top of the league. We have tons of talent on this team. 3.I’m shopping for 100Pts. I’ve worked hard this offseason to train so hopefully it pays off. 4.All of them, especially me. 5.Les Montréal Canadiens 6.Not reeeally. Kinda football, but mainly I’m a hockey super nerd
  9. Ryan Ryker was a very interesting prospect leading up to the draft. He had the skill set and workmanship that a lot of the top prospects had, but he played in a very poor Houston team, looked terrible defensively, putting up a -44 in his rookie season. That may have been why is stock fell. Early in the season Ryker was pegged to go somewhere in the late first round of the VHL Draft, he slowly slid into the second round projection, by no fault of his own, just players below his having excellent seasons. At the conclusion of the VHLM Season, Houston missed the playoffs, and even though he put up 29 goals, his draft stock slid further to a mid to late second or third rounder. But once the draft started, it was clear that Ryker has been forgotten, as his name hadn’t been picked by the beginning of the 3rd round. As experts wondered if he’d slip down to the 4th round, Seattle stepped up and selected Ryker with their first pick in the draft. In post draft interviews Ryker is clearly eager to prove other general managers that they messed up by not picking him, as he is already meshing well with the players in the Seattle locker room.
  10. Ryan Ryker, the young rookie for the Houston bulls this past season, and one of the highly touted prospects for this weekends drafts, was visibly calm in the stands shortly before the draft begins at 5Pm EST. Beside him in his longtime girlfriend and his family, as well as mentor and player agent, Alex Pearson. we caught up with Ryker to ask him some questions shortly before he went to the stands to take his seat with his family. Rep:You seem a lot calmer than most prospects today, why is that? RR: I am nervous as hell I’m just good at hiding it, plus I have my family and Alex here, who kinda been through it all to calm my nerves, which is definitely nice. Rep:Where do you expect to go tonight? Have you looked at the rankings? RR:If anyone ever tells you they don’t look at the rankings, they're lists. Obviously everyone looks, but I don’t put too much stock into it, I just hope I go to a good team with some great players. Rep:What draft are you more nervous for? Tonight’s minor draft or tomorrow’s VHL Draft? RR:Ah, that’s hard, I’m not really sure, maybe tonight’s cause that is gonna dictate where I play next season so it’s a litter nerve wracking, but obviously so is the major draft, but it’s also exciting. Rep: alright, and lastly, how are you loving vegas? RR:Well I’m hungover as hell, and I don’t even really remember what the last question you asked me was, so I’d say I’m having a blast. Rep:Alright well best of luck to you this weekend! Clearly Ryker is very excited about the drafts, and looks forward to finding out what team he plays on next season, we look forward to watching his career unfold.
