NumberJ5 reacted to Jayrad28 in Pearson happy with progress
Prague, Czech Republic-After a very turbulent summer, Prague Centre Alex Pearson is off to a much better start to this season then his previous one. Prague currently sits 17-11-4 at second in the European conference.

Pearson and his teammate and close friend Seabass Perrin recently completed their substance abuse program after going missing during a drinking binge after a tough loss last playoffs. Pearson and Perrin are currently tied for 5th on scoring with 24 points in 32 gams played. Pearson has played primarily on a line with Ben McGirr and rookie phenom Thomas Landry, the trio has been terrific in providing secondary scoring this season as Prague looks to be in the hunt for the championship this season.

Aftet their most recent win over Davos, in which Pearson recorded his 8th goal of the season, we managed to catch up with him and as him some questions about how the season is going

”With everything that happened this summer, how do you feel about the way this season has gone for you so far?”

”I’m really happy, I feel like I’m playing the way i wanted too last season, I’m finally getting my confidence back, which I owe mostly to my Seabass, he’s been a terrific leader this season, and is definitely one of the best teammates in the league”

”Whats your opinion on your line mates this season?

“McGirr and Landry have been terrific to play with this season, Landry is absolutely amazing, the puck skills and hand eye are phenomenal, sometimes it’s hard to keep up with, but I feel like the three of us really mesh well together”

”Do you think you guys have a chance to win it all this season?”

“Obviously I think we do, we have of the best defence cores in the league, with Cinnamon Block, WSJ, Perrin, and wahl has been absolutely fantastic. I think we can really surprise people This year”

With over half the season still to play, Prauge will look to prove to the doubters that they are legit, and can truly compete against the top teams in the league.

(Team USA lined up for national anthems at S70 WJC Preliminary games)

With S70's World Junior Cup right around the corner, let's talk about the roster Team USA is bringing to the table. I briefly mentioned the projection and expectations in another article, but here we can go into specifics about each player and why they fit the scheme of Team USA's quest for Gold. Plus I only have a day to write this so let's get this done quickly.

    The Forwards:
The forwards are a definite improvement over last seasons squad, with some familiar faces returning for another go at Gold. Highlighting the forward core would be players like Jaxon Walker @hewasajazzman, Nate Wright @73MPL4R and Bud Knight @Dilly Dilly. All these players were S69 Team USA members as well, who all won Bronze at the tournament, returning now with a hunger for more coming into S70's World Juniors. Jaxon & Nate are both in their rookie seasons in the VHL while Bud Knight has returned to Philadelphia in the VHLM for a fourth season to continue his tear up of the league. Thomas Landry II @Doomsday is a new addition to the team, and despite only playing 52 games in the VHLM over two seasons, his career point total of 66 before he's even been drafted is quite impressive, and will earn him a high selection in the upcoming VHL entry draft. Helsinki prospects Gary Tarantino @Garrett, Jack Russell @quanack are also returning players, both of which are having strong seasons in the VHLM with their respective teams. Rounding out the rest of the players, we got Ike Bennett @Caboose30 Alex Bridges @Alex Bridge, and Adam Syreck @Spade18. Ike Bennett, another prospect of Helsinki is having a great sophomore season in the VHLM, and like his Titans teammates Gary Tarantino & Jack Russell, GM McLovin might be using these players in higher roles to see the type of production they can have considering he is also the Assistant GM of the Helsinki Titans in the VHL. Hopefully the chemistry can carry over success in the Juniors. Alex Bridges, another elite VHLM talent is rounding out the centers, with Adam Syreck most likely as his wingman. Expect points from both of these players if they get matched up. All-in-all, a lot of scoring talent, something that was sorely missing from S69's roster has become one of the forefronts of the team and looks to help out the blue line with keeping the score in the USA's favor. Speaking of blue line, let's move on to the defensemen.

    The Defense:
Only four defensemen were selected, as per the rules of the WJC, so this sections should be a little bit more condensed with more being able to be said about the individual. To start, the USA is looking to heavily rely on the elite two way player known as Gert B Frobe @NumberJ5. His heavy hitting defensive defenseman style of play is quite amazing, with the game sense to be able to put up points if he were to get a little faster too. Despite not being known for putting up many points, he will definitely catch you with your head down and lay you out if you're not paying attention, and use the turnover to create an offensive opportunity. Another returning player is Shawn Glade Jr @ShawnGlade. Currently in his rookie season with Davos, he was a former 12th overall pick, putting up an astonishing 129 points as a defenseman. His offensive mindset paired with Frobes defensive means you got a very scary top pair to play against. Yet another Philadelphia Reaper, we got Richard Fitzwell @Tomato Soup. A solid two-way player, he's currently over a point per game in the minors, and even further solidifies the blue line with his skill set. The last d-man on our list, Finnegan MacBurn @DizzyWithLogic is nothing but a passing machine. 238 assists in 239 VHLM games. This is the type of player you can quarterback a powerplay off of, and expect him to make some dazzling plays with his fine skating and elite sight for finding open teammates. If that wasn't scary enough, you haven't seen the goalies yet.

    The Goalies:
Ever since Samuel Ross @Brrbisbrr came onto the scene, he's been blowing the minds of everybody that had the chance to watch him. In his rookie year in the VHLM, he put up a simply incredible 20-2-2 record. His incredible year proved fruitful as Ottawa won the Founders Cup that year. Moving on from the VHLM, he kept the momentum up once his career transferred over to the VHL. Becoming Davos' starter this year after two years as a backup, he's finally gotten the chance to show his worth by putting up a .912 sv% as well as a 2.72 GAA. Like Virgil Ligriv the year before, the starting goalie of the USA looks to contend for MVP with the accolades he's carrying into the tournament. Stone Wolski @DollarAndADream is the backup, and honestly makes a case to be the starter himself. A draft eligible player this year, he's proven to the world why he deserves a top draft selection this year. Over two years in the VHLM, Wolski has put up some very, very good numbers. His rookie season only had him losing one game, and this year, with a record of 23-7-2, no matter who the USA starts in these World Juniors, they can rest assured they have some elite goalies protecting the net for them.

    Conclusion:
Now I may be a little biased, but this team looks incredible. And simply saying, anything short of an appearance in the Gold Medal game would be a failure in the eyes of management and players alike. Everybody on this team is hungry, and despite having some serious competition in the other national and continental teams, they won't let anything stop them on the quest to Gold. I have a lot of faith in this crew, and I can't wait to see what this group of guys can put together when the puck drops in a couple days.

It's the most wonderful time of the year, that being the young guns get to show off their skills in the World Junior Cup and represent their countries (or continents in some cases) on the international stage! Team USA has officially announced their roster, and while we won't go into specifics, we will quickly mention what this means for the Americans going into the round robin in a few days time. Apart from last year, this team is a lot more balanced, with strong wingers supporting an already existing elite defense and vhl caliber goaltending. This team looks much stronger than the S69 team, in which @McLovin was a GM for as well, and has learned to expand his horizons on making the team more balanced. It's hard to say they don't look really good come medal round, but with the woes the Americans had in last years round robin, one can only wonder if the team is ready to take the next step.

Weeks after the Seattle Bears lifted the cup, the Prague Phantoms hsve pressed reset on their roster, I’m gonna do a breakdown of all the players and what their role should be, Barring no future moves, as their pretty close to the cap.

Well start with the forwards of the team, Which has been improved by the addition of some veterans.

    Roll Fizzlebeef @TacticalHammer

Roll was added in the second trade with Calgary of the offseason, more on the first one later. He is except to play the top line Center roll and help Take some of the pressure off the young core.

    Teegan Glover @Bucky___lastard

At first Prague aquired veteran Matthew Materazo. But after the cap situation became difficult to navigate he was shipped of to Davos in exchange for Glover, who was acquired from Toronto earlier. He will probably end up playing wing, Either on the second or first line, he’s not gonna drive play but he will be an efficient playmaker.

The core of the phantoms has relatively been the same, with the minus of Zeno Miniti and Captain Draven, who made it known he had lost the room and when wouldn’t resign he was shipped off to Vancouver.

They still have a number of young talents that have signed on to stick around for a bit.

    Alex Pearson @Jayrad28

After back to back 51 point seasons, Pearson goes into this season as a sure fire top 6 option on either the wing or Center, as he is very versatile. Look for him to have a breakout season this year, and potentially translate to the wing.

    Don Draper @Infernal

The sniper had a down season and looks to bounce back to form. He will likely be a top line scorer for Prague this season, as he hopes to bounce back to 30 goal form.

    Willie Dredge @sjs88speed

He has been improving tremendously, He was a bit of a risk pick but he’s blossomed into a true top 6 Forward who can forecheck hard and provide a playmaking touch. He might be a shoe in for the most improved award.

    Blake Laughton @Grape

The versatile forward is in the boat as Draper, looking to bounce back after a dissapointing season he looks to cement his spot as a top 6 forward.

A couple rookie forwards are also looking to lock down a roster spot, as they will likely have decreased roles this season.

    Dagmar Havlova @diamond_ace

After winning a championship with Saskatoon, she will look to provide a solid depth option for Prague this upcoming season.

    Ben Mcgirr  @cartoes

The Young sparky forward will also provide depth with Havlova, Gm Glasser worked hard to keep this guy around as he hopes he developed into a solid role player.

The real strong area of this team is for sure defence, with many young stars and strong shutdown players, they have a tremendous amount of depth and will for the upcoming future.

    Seabass Perrin  @Sebster03

The shutdown defenceman has been a steady presence on the blue line since the club formed. He’s been mainly paired with WSJ and been a beloved member of the locker room. He will likely be a second pairing guy this year, but will no doubt continue to be effective.

    Wolf Stansson Jr @Cornholio

Wolf was Pragues first draft pick ever, and will hopefully grow as a strong offensive puck moving Defenceman who can help with the puck transition game that Prague will likely imploy this year.

    Jacob Perry @Liberty_Cabbage

Perry, Like Perrin has been a solid shutdown option with a little more offensive skill, he’s been an absolute steal from the draft, and stepped into a leadership role on this young team.

    Cinnamon Block @omgitshim

What else can be said about block other then damn! She has been absolutely dynamic. Striking fear into whatever offensive line matches up against her. She will look to step into the role not number one defenceman this season.

    Gert B Frobe @NumberJ5

Like block, Forbe strikes fear into his opponents. Hes a very hardworking guy and great team player. Currently undefeated in fights, he will always defend his teammates, the kind of player every team needs.

    Edward Vingenault @Patpou22

Vingenault will help with the transition of the puck up the ice this upcoming season, a very active member in the lockerroom, he has been a welcome addition to the team after Glasser stole him in a deal.

Last but Certinly not least, The goaltending.
this has been an area of weakness, but after the addition of a world class goalie it is instantly a strength, as young goalie Crawford looks to learn from the vet.

    Brick Wahl @BladeMaiden

Wahl has been a very good netminder in Calgary for ages, and now will move on this new and promising situation. He will look to finally get that Cup he’s always come short of. He will also teach the young netminder in Crawford the reigns when he steps down.

    Soloman Crawford @AndrewWarren13

Crawford had a rough year last season,  but after acquiring wahl there is much less pressure on the youngin. He will likely step into the starter role after wahls time passes.

The Phantoms have made significant improvements this off season, and will look to continue to build off of an improvement last season and finally make the playoffs, because once you’re in, anything can happen.

NumberJ5 reacted to diamond_ace in Trades Prague can't do, ranked in order of how "can't do this" they are
So as many of you already know, the Prague Phantoms have several pending trades that are unable to be put through until the portal search feature is reset. The offseason is officially underway, thanks to Beaviss although Josh would have done it a few hours later, and the assumption was that once the portal was set to tick over into the offseason, the trades would be able to be put through. As it turns out, this is not the case. The trades can't be entered because in the trades section, we are unable to search through the assets of either the incoming team or the outgoing team to select the pieces that will be traded. This is apparently an issue that only Will can fix, not even Josh, so we wait for Will to come onto the site and fix said search feature. There are three trades that the Prague Phantoms are waiting to be able to do, and so I will rank them in order of how "can't do this" they are.
    1. The big one
There is one massive trade that could change the entire fate of the franchise for the upcoming few seasons, and it's one that has been discussed and finalized between two non-playoff teams since the beginning of the playoffs. As the finals are now behind us, that means this trade has been waiting for quite some time to be put through, and both teams involved have started making plans for their rosters after the trade. The two teams seem to be going in different directions at the moment, one about to improve significantly and the other entering a quick rebuild wherein their younger players will begin to feature more heavily as they develop. Unfortunately, neither team is able to enter the trade into the portal, nor accept said trade, because the search feature needs to be reset.
    2. The medium one
This is a trade that I don't think many people know about at all, nowhere near as many as the first trade especially - I know on my end, it's only the people in the "team only" section of the Prague discord. The pieces involved in this deal are not as big as the pieces involved in the deal mentioned earlier, hence being the medium one, but it is a good trade, partially because of existing relationships within the team already. The result of this trade will be that one position area of the team will be pretty well finalized for the long haul, but is it Prague who will acquire, or the other team involved in the trade? Unfortunately, you'll have to wait, because neither team is able to enter the trade into the portal, nor accept said trade, because the search feature needs to be reset.
    3. The rights trade
This is the most minor of the three deals by a good margin. A player that will leave either Prague or the team Prague was in talks with in free agency is involved in this deal, and it's for the opportunity to trade the rights to said player either to or from Prague so that the receiving team (whichever side that is) can sell said player on said team before free agency opens. Fortunately, the outgoing team has already permitted the incoming team to talk to the player, so that side is set. Unfortunately, the pieces coming to the outgoing team in return can't be given to said team, because neither team is able to enter the trade into the portal, nor accept said trade, because the search feature needs to be reset.

EDIT: while writing this article, the search feature was fixed and these can go through. Still claiming the article though
