  1. Whiskey filled the one ounce shot glass in little time, brown in color with flecks of gold, "Fuck Malmö!", Elmebeck raised his glass before he downed it. @Dalton Wilcox laughed. 'It's not that bad,' Wilcox offered. 'The cunts didn't even protect you! What are you talking about? Surely you don't want to stay there, right?' Wilcox resigned his head towards the bar disk before moving to other thoughts less desparaging, 'You're right-handed, right?', he asked, while trying to fix the salt rim on his glass of 'Margarita'. 'Sure', Elmebeck let out with a cough from the Hong Tong shot he just took. Both sweating from the heat in Bangkok. 'So why do you shoot like a lefty?' 'I don't know, why did Mario? Perhaps because it's better.', he smiled while running his hand over the eye from the effect of the toxic drink. 'So where do you think you will end up? Where will I end up?', the eyes of Wilcox were dead serious. 'I don't know my man, I don't know. I am just so happy if I can avoid Malmö and Davos. I think the expansion teams may have an eye for you, and they should. And I also hope they have an eye for me. Otherwise I want to go to New York.' 'New York are fucking deadbeats, your's better than that! They lost this season like if they tanked it on purpose! You'll have four seasons of rebuild competing with the expansion teams.' 'New York is New York, and New York is god damned amazing.', Elmebeck paused to light a cigarette. 'How do you even get in shape for next season with all that smoking? ...' '...and drinking that you are partaking in.', Elmebeck added with a wink. 'AND the drinking. But how do you get in shape?' 'I stop eating hamburgers two weeks before the season starts.' Wilcox chuckled, and continued, 'But seriously, you and I in Prague, wouldn't that be a beautiful thing?' 'It certainly wouldn't be a fuggazzi.' 'Fuggazzi?' 'Not a fake. Not a bad thing.' 'I know what a fucking fuggazzi is, not just in the weird context you brought it up!', Wilcox pupils dilated a tinge. Attempting to disarm the situation, Elmebeck offered, 'You want to see a beautiful thing?' 'Wah'?!' 'Here, this is a beautiful thing.', as he wrote on a loose piece of paper. 'That it is.', Wilcox had to admit, 'How would you rate the teams though?' The evening continued with more thoughts on the upcoming drafts and their future careers. Specifically the implications of two new teams entering the league and what consequences that could have for either of them with the upcoming expansion draft, followed by the regular draft. The final list made up by Elmebeck in the late hours read like this: "Prague / New York Seattle Anything really, but preferably Prague or New York Malmö Davos" Thereafter they went home to tend their gardens. Credits to @Tate for the opening line, probably best one in this whole piece.

  3. I agree, I don't know how I did that, the player I was looking at was 99 at quite a few stats.
  4. 1. Maybe a little bit with @Tate, although I suspect he may find me a bit overbearing. And of course with some of the GM's and commissioners too. 2. I think at least one of my 500 word Point Tasks and one of my 200 word articles came out pretty well. I used to be pretty proficient in Photoshop, but have worked mostly with coding professionally the past 10 years, but I hope to get back to making some nice graphics for my player and for the league. 3. Hockey and community. 4. Without diving too deeply, perhaps @Tagger. My build is arrogantly aimed to target something of a Lidström and he has incorporated a decent amount of leadership together with other key skills. 5. I am not apt enough to evaluate builds and how the engine handles them, obviously only looking at TPE is not always enough, and how the GM distributes the players in the lines seems (fortunately) to have an effect too. But I think Vancouver will get it. 6. I think Texas needs a VHL team, or one of the southern states, even Florida would be OK. My joke article suggested Amarillo Sarsaparillas... but a more serious answer, while trying to avoid existing franchise towns in NHL/VHL/VHLM would perhaps be the Memphis Soul.
  5. When will this be claimable?
  6. Helsinki Vancouver Vancouver 4-2 Vancouver Points: Beau Louth Goals: Rauno Palo Assists: Dan Wilinsky PIMs: Sidney Crosby Series winner: Shawn Glade
  7. All good points, consider me a bit more educated. It's hard to immediately see all the consequences, and what is intended to happen, so this has been very helpful. We'll see how my TPE suggestions go in two months (if I still have any then, or happy with how it works).
  8. I don't see how I would have reached 200 TPE if joining 5 weeks into this season. This is more about player expectations and making people feel good, "Sure, I joined late, but I didn't do too badly." Again, I am not criticizing, just pointing out that the 7-8 season life seem to be pretty real and you don't necessarily want to join 2 weeks before playoff.
  9. A third idea would be that VHLM seasons doesn't count, but rule #1 is that when you hit 200 you HAVE to go to VHL at the end of that season (weak Fight Club-reference). So it doesn't matter how many seasons you spend in VHLM, the count starts in VHL. Which would probably help VHLM teams to be a bit more stable.
  10. Add protein for balance.
  11. A thought on joining mid-season and incentivising that. I was thinking about hounding one of my friends to join earlier in mid-season, but then realized it's probably detrimental according to how the rules work. So I propose either: 1) The first seasons doesn't count as a season after a cut-off point (say if you join after 36 games, next season is still your first season, kind of how NHL doesn't count <40 games seasons for rookie purposes) 2) You get x TPE for every week into the season you join. So say you join week 5, you get 30+(4x6) or something like that (not sure where the balance would be, but Practise + Welfare would be that and is something you could do without interacting with the team or the GM) I was lucky to join during the Reddit recruitment and the ten year anniversary, so I am not complaining, it was just a thought that occurred to me for future recruitment, and so that mid-season joiners aren't "handicapped". I have some more thoughts on the TPE system, but I will probably delay most of those until the end of my first VHL season, seeing as I am really a newbie here still and maybe don't see the whole picture on this long-lived league.

  15. Hans Gruber Sorry, but that caught me off guard. I generally dislike pop-culture names, or 4chan-silliness, but that one will do. Shoot the glass. E: spelling
  16. I don't know what happened with Minnesota, but their goalie @MMFLEX had 97.2% saves and two shutouts. I think he robbed us. GG

  18. More questions, the draft obviously. So apparently the expansion draft is first - so who do you think the GMs should protect and who should the expansions GM's hope to be unprotected? Secondly, how will the actual draft go with Green being pretty adament he goes to and expansion team? Should a current GM still pick him and trade him, or should current GM's bend over backwards and one of the expansion teams gets to draft him?

  20. My big question is whether there has been a player named Lynyrd Skynyrd, and secondary how cheesy it would be to make one.
  21. I've only spent about a week in Manchester, but I really like that city. The history just oozes and I love all the brick too --- and of course very nice people to boot.
  22. Prove you're a Manc by saying "fook off, mate!", yer daft apeth! (enjoyed the podcast too (and I have dear friends in Manchester (Didsbury)), but the system says I am out of likes)
