  1. The uncharacteristically vocal Swede, (D) Elmebeck, called out several players on Halifax 21st prior to the upcoming meeting in VHLM game #136. "@SparrowLTD, @caltroit_red_flames, @Dtayl and @studentized will have no chance to get by me while I am on the ice. Also what's with eight right wingers on one team?! GM @Thranduil should probably look at adding a C or two too!" While obvisouly tongue in cheek the young defenceman has been stirring up emotions between the two teams, interrupting a Halifax 21st press conference last week by waving a placard that read "Halisux 21st Dumb Street". Halifax 21st and Houston Bulls are currently 4th and 5th respectively, with only two points separating them at this time - by game 136 they will both have played six more games.
  2. Fair enough, I still wish he played with me in Houston.
  3. I was going by "MINNESOTA STORM (from Houston Bulls): LW - Berocka Sundqvist, Australia"
  4. Review: It pains me that @berocka didn't stay in Houston. And @Cran and @HughJas_ were obviously steals too. Looking forward to meeting you all.
  5. Review: Interesting for a newcomer. @Phil claims that leadership increases points output though, and I wonder if anyone has tried to see how leadership is effective on a team level too. That would be interesting to know more about (both individual stats, and team performance).
  6. Review: Why Västrås? Lidström, Tommy Salo, Patrik Juhlin, Leif Rohlin och Peter Popovic What does Yukon have? Shit all. https://www.quanthockey.com/nhl/province/nhl-players-born-in-yukon-career-stats.html
  7. Review: The rules about podcasts/reviewing is a bit weird. If you add content that should be enough. I am fine with capped TPE, but to "have" to let's say make 8 short reviews, instead of one that actually adds some content. And to you guys who make podcasts, one per week should be fine, I am almost a bit peeved that I have to check both Podcast and Radio. FWIW I love Engelland and Vegas too, always root on the underdog.
  8. Review: HaliSUX (I have never been there, I don't hate Halifax per se, but playing for Houston Bulls in the VHLM I have declared Halifax 21st as our rival) Also UK/GBR/England only has one player, not Canadian born and trained there, in the NHL. Aston Martin is a great name, even if he was annoyingly picked before you.
  9. (RW) @Dalton Wilcox has gone out to say in a post game interview that his underperforming to a large part can be blamed on teammate (2D) Fredrik Elmebeck, and the vocal critique of Wilcox' performance that Elmebeck has voiced. "Even as I scored the 2-1 game winning goal tonight against Saskatoon he chirped at me, 'Even a Wilcox sometimes finds a grain of corn', he chided in a mocking tone, and it's frankly not acceptable.", Wilcox said after the game. When contacted over phone Elmebeck had this to say, "Wilcox, simply, is too weak, tries too little and has had too much handed to him in life. Now's the time to stop taking talent for granted and actually work for something, and I don't see Dalton doing that. Until he starts working like the rest of the team he won't get any respect from me." GM @FrostBeard declined to comment immediately. Wilcox currently has 5 goals and 6 assists in 13 games, trailing @Sixersfan549 by 6 points on the team. Elmebeck, a second line defenceman and a future prospect has 4 points and +/- 10. Houston Bulls already have two more wins - and are only four points away from performing over last season's result. Whether this locker room row will affect future games remains to be seen.

  11. Malmö 3-2 Moscow
  12. Helsinki Titans Toronto Legion Malmo Nighthawks New York Americans
  13. Yukon and Philly look deadly, but Houston looks pretty nice too.
  14. I generally dislike pun names, but I do approve of this one.
  15. In a 5-2 win Thursday evening @FrostBeard's Houston Bulls beat Halifax 21st five to two in a contest that looked like it could be close by the 16 minute mark when Halifax responded to make the game 2-1 after two early Bulls goals, but with 40 seconds to go in the first period @Dalton Wilcox had his second for the evening and deflated the game. @Dalton Wilcox would go on to score a hat trick and Bulls were never in any danger to drop the game. Other notable mentions would be @StaticShocked with 3 hits, and @Edustava who won 84% of his faceoffs. On the Halifax side @Kekzkrieg and @Dominus89 had the two goals. All in all it looks like Houston is in a good position, and has improved a lot, for the start of the season seeing how Halifax had 40 wins last season, while Houston only managed 4. 16. Review: Memes could be a +1TPE on any other point task, but probably a graphic. But I mean, you could vocally "tell" a meme on a podcast too I would imagine, if sufficiently creative.
  17. Review: I'm still some way from the 200 cutoff (44) but that practice facility clarification was helpful. For future podcasts I'd love to hear more about "rebuilds" and the ebb and flow of the league, since I am new it's hard to see how that works, also I am guessing depending on how active players are, suddenly someone active just drops off, etc.
  18. @Foehammer you can not go wrong with Houston Bulls. @FrostBeard is a great GM and you would be a perfect fit (reply to his message )
  19. 1. If you're new to the league, are you enjoying it? What do you like and what don't you like? I am new, both to the league and to Houston. So far the GM @FrostBeard and the staff here has been super helpful. It's sometimes hard to find all of the basic information and rules (which is why I will try to claim two press conferences under the cap ). 2. Tell us one thing about your team that other players may not know. I'm brand new so I couldn't tell you anything other than that Houston has weird weather and that we have a great GM. 3. Tell us one thing about your player that other players may not know. European hockey is Swedish hockey is Soviet hockey. I sometimes feel guilty that I adore the Soviet players more than I do the Swedish. 4. Take a look at some other teams' rosters--does your team have a shot to win it all? Bulls did not do very well their first season, but I am sure we can improve quite a lot this one. The locker room is buzzing. Honestly, buzzing. 5. If you were being traded to any other VHLM team, but you were able to pick which one, where would you go? I wouldn't. This is my team now, the underdog that will rise. 6. If you could be drafted by any VHL team next season, where would you go? Possibly Malmö Nighthawks, but it depends how I feel life here in the US is treating me. I would probably not mind a North American team.
  20. What does Leadership do? I mean, I know what the word means and how important a good captain and a locker room with a few leaders can be IRL, but how much effect does it have in the simulation, over a season, etc. Second question, size affects checking and hits - OK fine, but is there any negative to just creating a 200 kg, 2 meter player in terms of everything else? Also, can you change weight over seasons? I am thinking guys like Peter Forsberg, who were tiny when they entered NHL but grew in weight quite a bit (not just the checking stat).
  21. @rjfryman to end this thread, some feedback on joining - most of it seemed pretty clear to me when creating my player, but age was a bit baffling, not sure if one should put 15 or 18 or 22, or where the start of development is supposed to be. Though I read later that stats start decreasing after eight seasons? So starting at 18 was perhaps kind of OK, but I am not sure what normal "rookies" usually gets in age. A small hint or tip when creating your player could be helpful.
