    1. So those last eleven games before the victory... what do you think went wrong?

    2. Would you say it was poetic we won against the team chasing us to end the free fall?

    3. Do you think we remain in a playoff position with our lead over Vancouver just a single point now?

    4. How disappointed are you in TOR G? 2-8-0 in his ten games he gets credit for...

    5. Do you think we go on a winning streak now after gaining some confidence against Vancouver?

    6. If we make the playoffs (we will!) how do you think Toronto fares against Calgary?

    1. Nothing, just all part of our plan.

    2. Of course, that's exactly how we drew it up and for good reason. We didn't want to win any of those other games, just hat last one.

    3. Yes, I think the playoff spot will be ours.

    4. Wow. We need him to do better. We haven't been able to rely on him at all this season.

    5. Yes, this is where everything turns around.

    6. We can compete with anyone, and Calgary is no exception to that.

    1. Toronto is currently sitting in the final playoff spot. Vancouver trails behind the Legion -- and even after selling most of their core -- they still have a decent lineup. Do you think Toronto will remain in a playoff position, or do you think there is a slight chance of Vancouver catching them with twenty games left?

    2. TOR G still needs to start four more games for the Legion -- how do you think that'll impact the position we're in?

    3. Toronto sits seven out of twelve in offense, and despite a negative goal differential, we still have more wins than losses. What do you think has contributed in this somewhat intriguing stat?

    4. In a similar light, Toronto's forward-to-defense core sits sixth best in the league in goals against. What are your thoughts on that?

    5. Jaxx Hextall is keeping up with his competition despite facing nearly two hundred more shots than some of the leading goalies. He's been a key piece in Toronto's current successes, so do you think he has a shot at winning an individual award?

    6. GM Rylan Peace didn't make any moves at the trade deadline, and it was actually extremely quiet. Did you expect that, or did you expect more splashes?

    1. Yes, I think Toronto's got this. Vancouver is solid, but they're not as good at doing hockey in my opinion.

    2. I am not confident what that all means but I don't think the impact will be huge.

    3. Must be our clutch factor. Also, our defense, and that guy Jaxx Hextall

    4. Love it, shows our defense is quite solid.

    5. Jaxx Hextall is the best hockey player I have ever known or seen play. There's no question to me about this.

    6. I expected it for the most part. Never know, but I think this team looks good as is.

    Toronto Legion Press Conference

Another week is in the books and that means another press conference! We caught up with some of the Legion's players to ask them a few questions about the state of the locker room and the team's performance so far.

    • As of Thursday, the Legion are sitting at 22-17-3. With 30 games remaining, how do you feel about where the team is looking at the backend of the schedule?

    • You guys are in the thick of a playoff race with the New York Americans and Vancouver Wolves. What separates the Legion from those two teams?

    • Is it possible to make a run on the top 2 teams in the North American Conference, Seattle or Calgary?

    • Chad Magnum is tied for 6th in the VHL with 20 goals, tieing his career high with 30 games remaining. Last week we talked about his leadership, but this week I want to ask how his offensive improvement has helped this team take the next step?

    • He also leads the country in hits with hits with 173, a surprising development over the course of the first half of the season. Would you say the Legion's increased aggression on both ends of the court aided to the team's improvement this year?

    • Lastly, Jaxx Hextall has come down a bit from his outrageous start, settling into a .919 save percentage. How important is his play to this team's playoff contendership?

Thanks for taking the time today, everyone!

    1. Very good, I think the team can hit 40 wins.

    2. Better hockey players, like Jaxx Hextall

    3. Anything is possible with the players we have, like Jaxx Hextall

    4. The team desperately needed someone to step up, and he has done an admirable job in the bigger role.

    5. Of course, other teams don't want to come to Toronto because they know it's going to hurt.

    6. He's super important. He's the guy everyone looks up to in the locker room.

Another week is in the books and that means another press conference! We caught up with some of the Legion's players to ask them a few questions about the state of the locker room and the team's performance so far.

    • After flying to the top of the league last week, the Legion have gone 5-5 in their last 10 games and sit at 13-9-2. How has the team handled the up and down start to the season so far?

    • While the team-defense has been the focus of the off-season, Goalie Jaxx Hextall has continued to be a shining light for the team. His .930 save percentage is 2nd in the country, despite nearly leading the league in shot attempts against. How does the team feel about how he's playing right now?

    • Newcomers Teemu Lehtinen Jr. and Anthony Matthews are on pace for career years. How has their play shaped the team on offense, thus far?

    • Chad Magnum is also having his best start to a season after being selected as team captain. How would you describe Magnum's leadership?

    • Erik Killinger and the Gutzwiler twins all three made the switch to defense this season and the team has seen an improvement. What can you say about their progression so far?

    • Before the season, Toronto had modest expectations for S72. How has the start of the year changed the mindset around the year, if any?

Thanks for taking the time today, everyone!

    1. I think they've shown a lot of strength, and really pulled together during the rough patches.

    2. I don't know much about this team - but that guy is a stud.

    3. They have shaped the offense into being a really good one. They just hockey at a really high level.

    4. Magnum has great leadership, he's just a supportive guy who helps the team stay focused.

    5. They are super versatile and that's helped them fit right in.

    6. The team has really come together and now has bigger goals.

The VHL season is underway and with it another season of Toronto Legion Hockey! We caught up with some of the Legion's players to ask them a few questions about the state of the locker room and the team's performance so far.

    • The Legion have started the season 3-4-0. How do you feel about the start of the season?

    • What do you believe will be the team's strength this season?

    • What do you believe will be the team's weakness this season?

    • What are your goals for this season?

    • The team just announced it's captains last week. What are your thoughts in the picks?

    • There are a lot of new faces in the locker room. How has that experience been so far?

Thanks for taking the time today, everyone!

    1. Apparently it has gotten better since then, so I feel that it was a fluke.

    2. I think that most of the players on this team are very good at all that hockey stuff. So like passing the puck and you know general hockey stuff.

    3. The team will definitely struggle at losing games, it's going to be tough for the Legion to lose at all.

    4. I just wanna get better at all that hockey stuff and win some games.

    5. Although I'm not quite sure who was picked, I think they were probably good choices as I'm sure management only picked the most qualified.

    6. What locker room haha ?

    Ziarie Anigbogu Junior Review

Analyzing his life up to getting signed by the Aces, it's impossible to imagine just how Anigbogu became a professional hockey player. Anigbogu grew up in Los Angeles, California, a city with a love for basketball above all other sports. Ziarie was no exception to this rule, as he grew up on the sport of basketball his entire life, playing for teams coached by his dad. His parents had immigrated to the United States from Nigeria, and had settled down in Southern California after Anigbogu's father landed a job teaching mathematics and coaching basketball at a local high school. Anigbogu grew up in a basketball family, lived in a basketball city, and played basketball his whole childhood - yet here he stands, one season away from playing in the highest hockey league in the world.

His story starts from a mix-up. Several, actually. Anigbogu finished his high school basketball career as a decent prospect, but not enough to garner any division one offers. He decided to go play at the junior college, enrolling at Santa Monica College. He was a two year starter there, but after that his basketball dreams began to fizzle out. Until one day, Anigbogu thought he had hit gold - a letter from the Las Vegas Aces, inviting him to play for their developmental league team. Now, it's difficult to understand how Anigbogu thought a league called VHLM (there's not even a b for basketball in there) was a basketball league, but he happily accepted. As for the Aces? Their assistant GM at the time had known Anigbogu from attending the same college, and had mixed up his name with a successful hockey prospect who actually has his name spelled correctly: Ziaire Anigbogu. It appears, that Anigbogu's greatest attribute leading to his success today was his parents misspelling his name, placing the second i in the incorrect position. So far, he's managed to act the part somewhat decently, but he fears that any day his secret will be uncovered and his professional career will fall apart. Until then? Watch as Anigbogu continues to nervously skate around the hockey rink, wildly swinging his stick. It's been a good strategy to him so far, as he did get drafted in the most recent VHL draft, to play for the Toronto Legion. But at some point, people will realize that his repeated falls while skating are due to more than just his unusual playstyle.

    DRAFT EDITION!

    1. What did you think of Toronto's overall draft?

    2. What pieces of advice would you have for Michael MacJoseph Gainer and Ziarie Anigbogu?

    3. What are your opinions about the trades that were completed during the draft?

    4. We also added Anthony Matthews and Vladimir Shaposhnikov to the roster VIA trade. What do you think about their acquisitions?

    5. What do you think of Toronto giving up a potential lottery pick in the S74 VHL Entry Draft?

    6. Where do you think we'll end up drafting in the S73 VHL Entry Draft?

    1. I think it went great, I trust that the front office made good moves.

    2. As one of the rookies I don't think I'm in a place to advise the others.

    3. I didn't really watch the draft, so I'm not too sure. Again, I do trust the front office's judgment.

    4. Those are most definitely hockey players. I think they'll play great hockey for the Legion.

    5. Sounds like a risky move, but it could pay off. We'll just have to wait and see.

    6. Hopefully low, because that would mean we did good.

    Ziarie Anigbogu - D

    Philadelphia Reapers S71-S72 - 38th OA

    6'3'' - 230 lbs

    Overview

Ziarie Anigbogu is still not sure how he ended up as a hockey player. He's still not sure where the games take place, not too sure about his future in the league, and has no clue how well he actually preforms. Despite all this, he somehow was selected to play for the Toronto Legion in the most recent VHL draft. Although Anigbogu had never heard of the Legion, or any VHL team for that matter, he was still happy to be picked as he had not anticipated getting selected to any draft, let alone the draft this season. Getting drafted means one thing for Anigbogu: another chance for him to continue doing that hockey.

    Strengths

+ Defense - Anigbogu plays defense in hockey, and as a result has spent more time training on defense than anything else. He had 82 shots blocked last season, which may or may not be a good number. However, it is the highest number on his stat sheet and the one Anigbogu is most proud of.

+ Strength - Anigbogu has good size for a hockey player (at least he thinks he does) at 6'3'' and 230 pounds. His size is more than just those raw numbers, however, as he also possesses great strength at the VHLM level. Although this won't stand out quite as much in the big leagues, it's something he relies a lot upon while he plays for the Reapers.

+ Passing - Perhaps due to his large fear of having the puck, Anigbogu has developed into a solid passer. He is terrified of shooting or handling the puck as he doesn't know how, so he just slaps wildly at it seems to usually end up with a teammate. How long he can continue getting lucky is unknown, but for now it is enough to impress scouts.

    Weaknesses

    - Scoring - As mentioned above, Anigbogu rarely shoots the puck. It's just not in his skill set, as he has no real skill set.

    - Leadership - Anigbogu lacks confidence as a hockey player, since he doesn't really know how to play the sport. As a result, his confidence can rub teammates the wrong way, making it hard for him to ever show hints of leadership. Perhaps this will improve one day, but for now Anigbogu is just a shell on the hockey rink.

    - Fighting - Anigbgou is really bad at fighting. Rather than physical weakness or something similar, Anigbogu's fighting struggles are a direct result of his poor hockey knowledge. There are times where he makes a dirty hit or unfair play simply because he doesn't know better. He's yet to win a fight in the VHLM as he always gets blindsided during fights, so hopefully he can one day learn the hockey rulebook.

Answer all 6 questions and claim for 2 TPE:

    1)      It’s the offseason. What’s your normal day like?

    2)      With COVID-19 restrictions in place many ice rinks are closed. How are you trying to keep up your on-ice training at home?

    3)      Both the VHL and the VHLM drafts are coming up soon. Are you planning on attending either draft? Why or why not?

    4)      What small tidbit about your life is going to appear on the screen when you’re drafted? (and no you don’t have to be like ESPN in the NFL Draft and bring up the most tragic moments in your life.)

    5)      You’re forced to go on Shark Tank, a show where you pitch business ideas/inventions to investors. What are you pitching to them?

    6)      For security purposes we’re going to be implementing a voice activated lock on the locker room door. You get to choose a three-word phrase as your password. What is your phrase?

    1. My normal day is pretty empty right now. A couple workouts to stay in shape, but mostly just passing time.

    2. I just do that hockey whenever I get a chance.

    3. I think I was in the VHL draft and got drafted with a 4th rounder? Seems pretty good to me, I didn't realize I was even in the draft.

    4. Anigbogu is still not sure how to watch the games he plays in.

    5. This may or may not be a thing, but like ice skates with training wheels.

    6. Let's do hockey

Happy February 24th everyone (posted on the 23rd, don't judge me)

Presser for week ending March 1st!

    Las Vegas Aces!

    1. Even more new players! (I won't bother mentioning names because I missed people last time) but who is most likely to be a stud?

    2. Las Vegas is in a playoff spot currently, do you think we'll make it? If so, what are your goals?

    3. The amount of teams below .500 is insane (including us), why do you think this is?

    4. Minnesota is having a great year this year, do you think they can continue this into the playoffs?

    5. The amount of players that have recreated recently is pretty high, who do you think will be the most successful?

    6. How do you think you're performing this year?

    @Chip chiperson @thekillamon @Domkey @Julian Dalvao @JDGraves @Briedaqueduc @imeanttosaysaturn @Jepox @Da Trifecta @Jackson @wild_soup97 @Erik @Alex88Shaw @Beerfridge @ngine4 @HearnNation67

    1. There's a lot of good players joining the aces. For now though, it's still got to be Ziarie Anigbogu. He's just so good.

    2. Of course we'll make it - the team's already currently in, and now they're adding Ziarie Anigbogu

    3. I think that it's because there's too much talent collected at the top. Now, with Ziarie Anigbogu joining the league, it's going to change.

    4. I'm sure the success will continue for a little while. But, all things end. To Min, Ziarie Anigbgou is that end.

    5. The new talent that's joined the league will make waves. But out of the group, Ziarie Anigbogu really stands apart as the future most successful.

    6. Well, I just signed here. I haven't yet played, so there's nothing to judge me on. Ziarie Anigbogu will perform though, you can be sure of that.

Press conference for week ending 23rd for LVA!

    1. With new players coming in this week, what potential do you think they hold? (Chip chiperson, Erik Hjalmarsson)

    2. With the team's amount of draft picks, do you think you will be drafted back to Las Vegas?

    3. It has been told that Chip chiperson and Jet Jaguar had a falling out in the VHL general area. What are your thoughts on the incident?

    4. As you know, next season we will be announcing captains. Who best fits the "C" role?

    5. The season is coming close to an end. (Well, roughly.) Who is most likely to win the cup?

    6. The locker room has started to get more active recently, do you think that this will continue?

    @Chip chiperson @Erik @thekillamon @Domkey @Julian Dalvao @JDGraves @Briedaqueduc @imeanttosaysaturn @Beerfridge @Jepox @Jackson @wild_soup97 @HearnNation67

    1. I think they have a really bright future, but Ziarie Anigbogu is going to be a surprise newcomer.

    2. I have no clue. I didn't even know there was a draft until this question.

    3. My thoughts are that they should get less weird names. But if they can't, just become friends on the fact that they both have weird names.

    4. Ziarie Anigbogu for sure.

    5. Probably the Las Vegas Aces.

    6. I definitely think it will continue, especially with all the new additions.
