ANSWERS: 1. It’s really hard to tell at this point which one makes the biggest difference. I’ve seen goalies carry teams to championships but I’ve also seen low tpe goalies do very well with a high amount of 40/90 players on it. I’d bet on a forward with a 40/90 build as the most effective. 2. All of the above! I love Graphics now that I can make them, but I also love to read a good media spot and listen to a great podcast. 3. League leader in what? League leader in points? or a leader who is the face of a team? Tough interpretation. Nathan Perry in Calgary is my choice. Never a point leader but never bitches or complains when others surpass him. Great team player and has had a fairly productive career. QUESTIONS: 1. Chicago vs. Vancouver face off in a playoff series tomorrow, who wins and why? 2. Who is your favourite of the European teams to make it to the final this season? 3. Is the VHL your only sim league? If not, what else are you involved in and what is your favourite?

Answers: 1: I wish the league had more versatility when it came to builds. It would be so much fun to actually build a playmaker rather than just a scorer all the time. 2. I have only played for a few but I think my top choices would be…Prague, Riga or Warsaw. 3. I am a big fan of arena soft serve ice cream or nachos! Questions 1. Which team is the better purple and why? Prague or Davos? 2. If you had to rebrand the VHL what would your name for it be? 3. What is one thing you miss most about life before Covid?

Just reading this now. I apologize for the humming and hawing over the trade. It was definitely amazing value to move down two spots. I was heavily swayed to pick Kotkakoivu by my AGM Greg_Di. However I personally really wanted Dooms goalie. I actually didn’t know I was going to “make the pick” until the draft had officially started. There were questions over Dooms inactivity and ultimately that’s what led to me keeping the pick. It was a huge struggle for me in deciding what I wanted to do with that pick whether it be select a player or trade it. There was no intent to lead you on and I couldn’t just say “I’m keeping the pick” because I really didn’t know if I was.

Review: I have to agree with Red here, this is wild. Each effect you used is so cool and out of the box. I love the placement of the name as well in this style of graphic although I don’t feel the ouch lettering matches the overall smooth texture of the graphic which isn’t a big deal. My biggest critique would be the blurred logo. I would have just attempted a logo swap or left the logo alone. Overall though I really think you did a good job! 8/10

Review: I love this concept. Logo swap looks great. Name swap looks solid. The idea of former teammates going toe to toe now that they are on opposite ends of the spectrum is so cool, especially in this case ;). The effects used in this graphic are not overpowering and very effective. Overall, a very cool graphic. 8/10

Answers: 1) No I do not follow a specific successful VHL build. Unfortunately I just follow the meta build and hope for the best. 2) Activity seems to fluctuate quite a bit. Right now I would say activity is fairly high but it could always be better. 3) My all time favourite is Lost but a few I’m watching at the moment are Squid Game, TWD final season and rewatching the office. Questions 1) Why do you think teams with lesser talent and skill are doing so well in the VHL the past couple seasons? Is it skill or luck? 2) Which VHL franchise would you never want to play for? 3) Are you into the podcast game? Any recommendations?

Welcome Everyone! Thank you for signing up for our S80 Edition if the VHL Chess Tournament.The rules are very simple and are as follows: 1.) There will be two groups of six. 2.) You will play each member of your grouping twice. 3.) Players will be seeded from 1 to 6 based on their point totals in the standings: -Win: 1 Pt -Tie: .5 Pt -Loss: 0 Pt 4.) Playoffs will be best of 3 in each round with the higher seed getting white 1st and 3rd (if required). 5.) Playoff format will be 1v4 and 2v3 BUT of the opposing grouping. Players who seed 5th and 6th will also play a consolation playoff bracket to determine final seeding. 6.) Game types: 10 min, 30 min, 15/10 and Dailies! Playoffs will only allow 15/10 & 30 min games. 7.) Please do your best to schedule games promptly with your opponents. If you are IA for two days you’ll be given 1 loss vs. the opponent trying to schedule a game with you. 8.) Schedule: Round Robin games need to be done by Oct 6. This gives us a week. Playoffs to be done by Oct 13. If you have any questions or concerns please DM me and I’ll do my best to accommodate. We do have members who are in different parts of the world. You may have to be patient with them and play dailies to accommodate their schedules.
