The Aiden Shaw Trophy is presented to the VHLs top goaltender each season. This past season goalies continued to steal the show. Among goalies 3 stood out above the rest this past season, they are; Lachlan Summers @kirbithan, who continues to amaze as a now veteran goaltender in the league, finishing the season with a 0.933 SV% and a 2.24 GAA. Jesse Teno @aimkin, leaped back to spectacular form and posted a 0.937 SV% and a 2.02 GAA! Lastly, Joel Castle @animal74 was a key part of Toronto’s success this season with a 0.938 SV% and a 2.06 GAA. The season 91 Aiden Shaw Trophy winner is…

The Alexander Valiq Trophy is awarded to the VHL’s top offensive defenseman, this season we saw a considerable margin develop as Skor McFelury opened up a 3 point lead over Pierre Emile Bouchard. This season we have a total of 4 nominees for the Valiq and they are; Skor McFleury @Alex, who led the VHL in defensemen scoring with 22 goals, and 67 assists for a total of 89 points! Pierre Emile Bouchard @Gaikoku-hito, who came close to a career best season with 14 goals and 72 assists for a total of 86 points! Jake Thunder @Thunder, who had a very solid final season of their career with 16 goals and 68 assists for 84 points; and Kronchy Kardashian @Garsh who led defensemen in goal scoring with 31! Each of these players had a spectacular offensive season, but the Valiq Trophy can only go to one of them. The winner of the season 91 Alexander Valiq Trophy is…

    Possibly the most important award we will discuss this evening, the Fredrik Elmebeck Memorial Trophy is sometimes referred to as the ‘top member award’ as it is awarded to the member that goes above and beyond each season to make the league a better place for everyone involved. This season we had 4 nominees;

@Gaikoku-hito - VSN, engagement with league, AGM, helpful and friendly
@Jason kranz - fantasy zone, active around various Discords, AGM, helpful and friendly
@Subject056 - face of recruitment, good work there
    @Zetterberg - recruitment/retention efforts with individuals, GM

Now how about them goalies? The Greg Clegane Trophy is presented to the goalie with the lowest GAA over the course of the season. This award came down to a very narrow margin of only 0.04 GAA. This was very close race especially as the season came to a close, between Jesse Teno @aimkin and Joel Castle @animal74 who had a 2.02 and 2.06 GAA respectively. Congratulations to Jesse Teno for winning the S91 Greg Clegane Trophy with an astounding 2.02 GAA!

Each season the Alexander Beketov trophy is presented to the player who leads the league in assists, this award is commonly won by a defensemen and this is a bit different as Leonard Triller @Triller ran away with it! He was followed by Pierre Emile Bouchard @Gaikoku-hito, Sunglasses Joyo @JetsGoalie101, Jake Thunder @Thunder, and Skor McFleury @Alex. The winner of the season 91 Alexander Beketov Trophy is Leonard Triller with an impressive 79 assists!

'tis a wonderful time, the week between Christmas and New Year's, and I am pleased today to announce the induction of two wonderful S83 draftees into the VHL Hall of Fame.

    One Continental Cup (S85)

We've seen some big blasts from the past return to the VHL recently. v2's comeback with Tui Sova was a huge success, making the Hall of Fame some 80 seasons, over a literal decade, after Josh Vestiquan's induction. Sova's last act, captaining D.C.'s maiden championship was in part made possible by playoff MVP Ronan Lavelle, a return to glory for one Zach @Arce who himself was last inducted around the same time as Vestiquan. For Lavelle, that playoff run in S85 was just the start of a dominant run, one of the finest forward careers we have seen in the 16-team era. He led the league in points twice and notched 7 consecutive seasons of 90 points or more, an unprecedented feat in the modern day. A guaranteed scorer wherever he went, Lavelle is a fine addition to the Hall and a great return to form for a VHL legend.

    D - Brian Payne, S83-S90
    RS: 576 GP, 147 G, 476 A, 623 P, +184, 1,684 PIM, 2,064 HIT, 1,326 SB, 26 GW
    PO: 72 GP, 17 G, 46 A, 63 P, -2, 227 PIM, 260 HIT, 184 SB, 4 GW

S85 Sterling Labatte Trophy (Top Defenceman)
S85 Jake Wylde Trophy (Top Defensive Defenceman)
S86 Jake Wylde Trophy (Top Defensive Defenceman)
    1x All-VHL First Team (S85)
    4x All-VHL Second Team (S86, S88, S89, S90)
    One Continental Cup (S84)

Lavelle looked like a star from the start, but Brian Payne simmered under the surface. Warsaw located an uncut gem at 26th overall, because he worked his way to the top through grit and stayed there through sheer consistency. Payne started to become noticed when he would without fail end up in the conversation for at least one defenceman award each season. He was no slouch offensively with 6 straight 80-point seasons, but it's the all-around game where he stood out. There's only 1 previous Hall of Famer, Patrice Reynaud back from the VHL's first decade, with more than 1,300 blocked shots, because very few can combine that with over a point-per-game pace. When you add 2,000+ hits, Payne stands in a league of his own. No wonder @Scurvy stood out even on a star-studded Warsaw team, one of the most recognisable of the decade.

And that's not all, this season we are back with a Builder induction. S91 has seen a whole generation of players retire who have played since the player build changes of S83, as well as one season removed from the 10-season anniversary of the VHLE. So what better time to recognise the man who played an integral role in the testing and refining of the new attibutes and is one of the current VHLE commissioners? @Enorama has been actively involved in two of the biggest novelties of the 80s and it's no surprise he's carved out such an impressive legacy. To me, it was obvious he would have a big role to play in the league from Ryan Kastelic's impressive pre-draft performance when in S61 he became the 1st first-gen drafted 1st overall in 30 seasons, but a trend-setter for several of the subsequent drafts. Kastelic didn't make the HOF and I hope Eno's hard work is rewarded at some point with a player induction, but he was the first (and only, before 9-season careers) player to earn 2,000 TPE. Plus, a Builder induction without HOF players only says more about the extracurricular work Eno's done. Founder of the aforementioned D.C. Dragons, guiding them through a few seasons of bad luck to finally get the Continental Cup nearly 20 seasons later (feat. the aforementioned Sova and Lavelle), Enorama has also been a productive long-term member of the BOG and this doesn't feel like the end of the story yet.

Recently a trip to the hospital and a few doctors appointments opened my eyes and i received a few diagnoses (nothing super serious i will live!!) but one of them was a thing called CHS, Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome. Basically for the last couple of months I’ve been having uncontrollable vommiting, sometimes up to 20-25 times a day and i finally have had enough. It got to the point I was calling into work, putting off important things because i couldn’t even function. I could barely eat or keep things down, I was taking multiple super hot baths and showers everyday as that is the only thing that would help the feeling go away.

I always thought it was something else, another underlying issue but all along it was the thing i used to chill out and relax, weed. Little did i know not only did i grow a dependency on it but it was slowly hurting me and it was just only gonna get worse and worse. I honestly at one point didn’t know if i would be able to make it one day without smoking as i was a really heavy smoker, multiple joints, bongs or thc carts to keep me “happy”.

I know it has only been 3 days but holy hell i can’t believe i haven’t touched it since. I know it’s super early but i just wanted to share my progress to hopefully inspire others to maybe quit or lean back. I know @Banackock has a thread documenting his journey from quitting cigarettes and it really inspired me to start my own journey and bring this awesome community along with me. I intend to stay sober and make better life choices moving forward and I can’t wait to show you all.

Cheers guys and here’s to being sober!

    Hello VHL,

This post serves as my announcement of my resignation from Recruitment, GM of the New York Americans, Board of Governors, and as one of the VHLE Commissioners. Allow me a moment to explain:

On October 8th, 2020, I found myself with a lot of time on my hands. I was working part-time and earning my Master's degree while living in a world that was dictated by COVID. I saw an advertisement on one of Thrash94's videos for the VHL and I quickly joined. I came in eager to learn, eager to earn, and eager to make Hall of Fame-worthy players. I dove headfirst into the VHL community and loved every minute of it. Eventually, I applied to be a GM for Team USA in the WJC and since then I've managed in one way or another. I became a GM for the San Diego Marlins, then the Stockholm Vikings, and finally the New York Americans. In all of that, I helped manage various off-season tournaments as well. That escalated to me taking a position on the Recruitment Team, and being asked to work as a Commissioner for the VHLE, which I happily accepted.

While all of that was going on, my personal life and career were taking off. My wife became pregnant, we moved back to our home state, and our family grew. I finished my Master's, and started working full-time, and the time that I had to devote to the league dwindled more and more over time. This year though has been a tipping point. As some of you know, my mother struggled with addiction my whole life, and in April that struggle caught up to her and she passed. Then, my wife and I endured the hardship of losing two children through miscarriage. Those events led us to grow much closer, and it made me realize just how precious the time I have with my family is. It's only here temporarily, and it can vanish in the blink of an eye.

Those hard moments were, well, hard. But, there have been so many good things to happen in my life this year, most of them revolving around increased work responsibilities. While I love my work, I don't have the luxury of a job that runs 9-5 and is off on the weekends, so the free time I do get is rather limited and decreases more and more.

All of that being said, I want you to know that I am not making this decision because I'm burnt out, nor because I've lost interest in the VHL. It comes down to the fact that I just don't have the time I used to when I first started, and I can't devote the way I want to the thing that I seem to be lacking.

My goal, at this time, is to finish out my career with Dynamite and then...well, who knows? Maybe I'll take a season or two off completely and lurk every once in a while, or maybe I'll make another player and ride the pension/welfare train for a while. I don't know. What I do know is that I'm thankful for the time I've had here, and for the friends I've made.

    1.  We made it to the finals!  What words do you have for our opponents, the Toronto Legion?
Best of luck, I hope its a good series (and that the Titans come out on top).

    2.  What is your ideal time of day for sims to happen and why?
For me personally its pretty much like 5:30pm - 10:00pm is ideal.  This is just the time I am generally going to be available to easily view the results.

    3.  GM Championship Wins or Player Championship Wins?
Well I'm not a GM so Player wins is for sure better.

    4.  Earning TPE can get tedious, what keeps you motivated?
By only doing what I really want and not trying to force myself to do things I don't want to do for whatever reason.

    5.  Christmas is coming, when do you start your Christmas shopping?
Whenever I get Christmas lists for the little ones.

    6.  What kind of lower half clothing do you prefer?  Sweats, shorts, skirts, jeans...speedo?
I am a shorts kind of guy, I'll wear them longer than most, but I'm not one of those people who wears them when its freezing out.

S91 has ended for Jesse Teno and the London United, going out to Helsinki in the semi-finals 4-1. Not the goalie’s best showing but still a good performance overall. But with the end of the season comes the inevitable locker clean out.

“Jesse, how are you feeling about how the season ended? Couldn’t have been easy going out on a shutout.”

No, it’s not. I did all I could to keep us in the game but sometimes it just doesn’t work out the way you want it to. The whole team gave a great effort, but Helsinki just outplayed us and Fuukka Rask managed to hold it together better than I could.

“Do you think your team was ready to close out the season? Or do you think Helsinki maybe just wanted it a bit more than London?”
I don’t know if they wanted it more than us but they certainly outplayed us this round.

“What are you doing during the off season?”

Finally going on my honeymoon. The wife doesn’t mind me getting out of work a few weeks early so it will be nice to have that extra time together.
