  1. Looking solid. The lighting could be a little stronger to create a bit more contrast on the render though. As it stands the (admittedly very nice) text and effects kinda make the render disappear into the BG. It would be nice to have the render be a little bit more of a focus. There’s plenty t hat this does right but unfortunately it makes what it does wrong really blend in too much. Get the contrast fixed up though and this could be something amazing.
  2. I really like what you have going on in the BG but the away jersey render just doesn’t really feel like it matches the rest of the piece. The render effects are okay but there isn’t really a lot of lighting and the text stands out like a sore thumb. Some blurring or pixelation or waves would help with getting the focus where you want. Overall it’s a pretty solid start but it needs more to really make it great.
  3. This is one of the times I can definitely see some improvement coming from your GFX. There’s room to improve but there’s also a lot that’s being done right here. I would like to see a little more blending on the render and some blurring with the specks in the BG so as to create more depth. Normally I don’t really like strokes on text but it doesn’t work too badly here. Keep working on your lighting and depth and you’ll be in great shape.

I don’t speak whatever it is they are speaking in this but from what I gather from Wiki that’s basically heavily fermented herring that has just enough salt in it to keep it from rotting and the smell when you open the can has been said to be one of the worst smells in the world. Does that sound about right?
  6. The render effects are very simple but they work very nicely here; just the right amount of contrast. Unfortunately that’s the best point. The text stands out way too much and should overlap the render a little bit to keep the focus where you want. The BG also feels a little bland but it could definitely be worse. Keep trying, you’ll get there.
  7. I would like to see a little more going on in the BG as it kinda bland. With that said I like what you were going for in relation to the stock and colouring work. The text quality isn’t really amazing but the idea is nice for it. Normally I don’t care for fancy fonts but this one kinda works. I would like to see it a little closer to the render though. Combined with the sig size it’s taking the focus away a little bit.
  8. I like the BG work and the text seems to fit very well here. I think the main thing you’re missing here is some really nice lighting and render effects to make that render pop. As it stands it feels a little flat on the render which really is a shame.

  10. The lighting on the render is very good but unfortunately the lighting on the rest of the piece feels almost non-existent; it’s just too dark. Personally I’m not big on the motion effects on the text; I find they look a little corny and overly strong. It’s nice to see you trying out some different things though, it’s good to have some fun with it and see what works for you.
  11. You’ve got a few decent elements going on here but it doesn’t feel as if the basics are quite done. There’s way too much white (even for a manip), the lighting feels forced and doesn’t interect with anything, the waviness is overdone and the text feels out of place. Believe it or not I do actually like the ideas you’re going for, I just don’t think the execution was quite there to get them right. Work on the basics and you’ll definitely get there though.
  12. Overall I like what you’re going for here; just the right amount of clean and messy. Text works well, depth works well. My main issue is a lack of lighting and render effects. If you had some extra lighting and effects it would really make the render pop a lot better and make sure the focus is correct. Overall though, very good sig.
  13. Great use of colour mixed with B&W and amazing effects. I’m actually trying to find things wrong here but even the lighting and text; which are usually the problem with most sigs, are spot fucking on. Amazing sig.
  14. Effects and lighting are great. Normally I don’t care for the pixelated look but it really works very well here. The B&W on the render’s face works decently well but I’m not sure how well it works on the helmet or the hand. The text is the main problem I have here though. The main text looks decent (though the angle should go the other way so to follow the flow better) but the subtext stands out like a sore thumb. Overall a good sig but definitely has a few issues.

  21. I expect at least 1 if not both of my sigs to be out in the first round haha. It's all for fun but that really is the problem with a competition format like this, overall placement relies very heavily on who you get matched up against. There's no real way around it, just bothersome for me because I always draw the straw against @boubabi haha

  23. Oh I don't deny that at all, there are people who want portable, the DS market has proven that well and smartphone games are a huge market. Where I'm saying the market is confusing is this new market they are trying to create of home console / portable. Maybe it'll be huge and I'm undervaluing it but I'm not sure how many people will want to have an under-powered home console just for the few times they'll take it with them. It's a cool idea in theory but I don't know if it will really work well in practice. Especially considering the debs are likely going to need to build their games around 2 very different spec points since it appears that docked it draws more power than un-docked but it is supposed to run the same games for both.
  24. I've never personally bought a Nintendo console (though my wife bought a Wii and my parents owned an NES when I was a kid) anddont think the Switch will change that. The idea of a portable / Home console is okay but I'm not sure the market is as sizeable as they think. Couple that with severely underwhelming hardware and graphics + very few games (and historically Nintendo is very bad at third party as well) and it just doesn't peak my interest. I definitely know people who are into it and have pre-ordered one but for that price point ($400 pre-tax in Canada with no games) I'm just not interested.
