Siyan Yasilievich - Named HC Davos Dynamo Captain for Second Season

We caught up with Siyan Yasilievich, the newly appointed captain for HC Davos Dynamo and we asked him some questions regarding his captaincy, his plans for the season, and what's to come!

Interviewer: This is your second season being named the captain, what is going to be different this time around?

"I believe that last season was a learning experience for me. I ended up not putting up the same amount of production that I would have liked, and there was a lot of responsibility on my shoulders. Now with a season under my belt, I feel like a lot of the stress and anxiety I had in my first season are no longer there. I will be able to lead the team better than I was last season and I believe that this season will be my best season yet."

Interviewer: Jake Thunder, a defenseman who was selected later in the draft you were selected in put up 90 points last season and seems to be a steal. He seems to be stealing the spotlight, do you have anything to say about this?

"If you're expecting me to say something bad about my teammate or anything, you're not going to get that response. Jake Thunder has already blossomed into a top line defenseman and is showing all the teams that passed on him what kind of mistake they've made. I believe that for myself, I am not at the level yet, but I will reach there. I have other responsibilities that Jake Thunder doesn't have, however I believe that he is a fantastic player and will be able to lead us on the scoresheet for seasons to come."

Interviewer: Do you have any expectations for this upcoming season? The season is only a week away and I was wondering if you've already got a goal in mind.

"Obviously I have a goal in mind that I think every single player has, which is to win the cup. Realistically, I think that this season as a team, our goal is to make it further in the playoffs, because it seems every single season we win the wildcard round, only to lose in the next round pretty bad. It would be a huge milestone for us to get past that. As for personal goals, I would like to put up over 60 points and start to solidify myself as a top line defenseman, and an elite playmaker."

Just as his finished answering his question, someone ran into the room, seemingly late to the interview. Siyan was very confused at who this person is, but nevertheless, he honored their request and they poised him a question.

???: Hello there, sorry for being late! With you entering your third season, you will be playing on the top line for Davos. With that, Davos is also seeing a group of brand new players joining the team. How are you going to guide and also assist the Davos rookies that will be joining the team?

"A good question for being late. Yeah, of course with the draft being over and a new set of rookies coming along, I've already got to meet some of them in the training camp. They all seem very eager to make the starting lineup in the future and they are going to be great players one day. I think a lot of these players have unpolished talent, just like I did when I came in. They seem to be very good at a specific set of skills, and it's helping them get those skills to the next level so they can make an impact. I've also had the time to take Lachlan Summers and John Richards out to dinner when they were here a couple days ago for training camp before they went to Europe. We had a great time and they were amazing company to be around. They're right around the corner of potentially making our starting lineup maybe next season, so I'll get to meet them more!"

Interviewer: Recently, you signed a two year extension with the HC Davos Dynamo, can you give me some insight on that?

"Of course. I knew that I wanted to stay in Davos, due to the fact that I really have enjoyed my time here. The atmosphere and culture here is great, where everyone is inclusive and we've got a close bond in the locker room. It seems that every single player really wants to be here and be apart of the solution, which is something that you always want on a team. I also have played for GM Alex in the minors, and if he's willing to use a draft pick on me and trust me, I trust him."

Interviewer: Follow up question, any clue how long you'll stay in Davos?

"Well, I only just signed my extension so I'd say it's a bit way to think about that. As long as things go as planned I'll be here for a while."

Interviewer: Well, I've got two questions left and we're done here. My first question, how close do you believe Davos is to finally winning a cup?

"Yep. I believe that we are very close to being able to make that run and win a championship. Like I said earlier, we've got some great talent up and coming and on top of that, we have players who want to be apart of that solution. Players who want to win for the organization, and vice versa. I think it should be very soon and we'll be lifting that trophy."

Interviewer: This brings me to my last question, is there anything you want to say to all the fans of Davos?

"Of course. I want to thank every single person who has been supporting Davos, regardless if I've been here or not. I know it's been a tough time supporting Davos, especially since this franchise is "cursed" in most people's eyes. My goal here is to bring Davos a championship and finally break that curse. I believe we have the management, the players, the prospects to do so. Everyone here is bought in and it shouldn't be very far away until Davos will be lifting that championship."

Interviewer: Thank you for your time and good luck this season!

    "Thank you."

As the interview is over and the reporters are leaving the room, Siyan spots the unnamed reporter leaving the room. Siyan walks up to them, and they accidently bump into each other, where a "Las Vegas Aces" pin falls off their jacket. The unnamed reporter apologizes and quickly runs out of them room before Siyan can give them their pin back and he is left there staring at the pin confused.

Blazzer reacted to FrostBeard in Bratislava Watchmen S86 Captaincy

Outside of Arena of Ondrey Nepela in Bratislava

GM John Frostbeard steps up to the podium on a cold late autumn day with heavy rain hitting his rosy face:

"It is a great honour to again come up here before the upcoming VHLE season and announce the captaincy. Last season was amazing and full of heartbreak as we didn't manage to go past Cologne and make it to VHLE Finals. We had the team for it, we had the tools to go and dominate and yet it didn't happen. I know everyone was frustrated but I see it as a chance to look back at Bratislava team and think about it what can we do better. I feel like this season, S86, we are ready to go and prove that not only we have a stornger roster but we also have a GM that has learned from his mistakes and is ready to push for the 2nd title! To lead us the we need some fierce players, we need our leaders to be recognised so here is the S86 Bratislava Watchmen Captaincy Trio! "

Captaincy trio of Season 85 Bratislava Watchmen is going to be:

Firstly, the A will be worn by a Canadian playmaker and a fierce competitor who always puts their team in first no matter the consequences, future Team Canada first liner and record breaker - Babay Shrimp @Blazzer

Secondly, the A will be worn by the resident Micronesian defenceman who has defied the odds and became not only a strong competitor but also a Founder's cup champion in S84, pure juggernaut on ice - Womp Womp Womp Womp Womp Jr @AdamEss

And finally, the captain of S86 Bratislava Watchmen is a player who returned to our team in the Free Agency as he believed in our ability to compete this season, a player that is set to do great things in VHL, one of the best two-way players in the league right now and Sweden's greatest son - Dens Oden @Snussu

Congratulations and we will see you all on the ice!

Just a quick note here so everyone is on the same page. The sim team for S86 will be as follows:

    VHL: @MexicanCow123
    VHLE: @Devise
    VHLM: Myself
    Backup: @Josh

Additionally the season had been set to start on Wednesday but we were looking at the schedule and realizing there’s really nothing left so we shoved that up a couple of days. Indexes will be up today or tomorrow with the season start scheduled for Monday.

Blazzer reacted to Pifferfish in VHLM Draft Grades (1-5)
Today I'm going to be evaluating 5 of the 10 VHLM teams' drafts including picks and trades and coming to a final grade based on a multitude of factors. Let begin with last year's Founder's Cup Champions.

    Philadelphia Reapers
    Grade C+
Picks: 43 Jason Lajeunesse Jr, 53 Shane Wardell, 63 Randy Bobandy, 69 Daddy Durkin.
The Philadelphia Reapers only made their first selection at 43rd overall. That player and the three they selected after all had to immediately be cut for inactivity. While its possible they could have found someone to stick around, it definitely feels like @Lemorse7knew that the priority for this team would be in keeping momentum with returning players and adding via waivers. The team did make a splash by trading for a blue line stalwart in Elias Lampi but the price could be considered an overpay. This team managed their run last season with just Rex Wolffe Gregor and a waiver addition with only 4 games left in the regular season so they definitely have shown one star back there can get it done. Overall that trade was a good one for a franchise in win now mode.

    Houston Bulls
    Grade C-
    Picks: 36 Grunkle Stan-dingyouup, 40 Chase Mclaughlin.
The Bulls and GM @AJW went into draft weekend with four picks including a 1st and 2nd but opted to trade those selections (which became Greg Hickman and Admir Bala) for three future 3rds and a 4th in S86. Grunkle has been a decent earner, showing a willingness to do more than just welfare since creation. Right now the build could be worrisome as it has holes, but I think the premier asset of this class was Chase. Rumor has it that Miami likes the kid and would love to add him to their roster. At present it seems like this could be another rough season for Houston hockey fans. Realistically with the moves made this wasn't intended to be a premier class for the franchise. Next season this grade should go way up.

    Las Vegas Aces
    Grade B+
Picks: 8 Reese McFeury, 22 Thor Odinson, 24 Tyler Swift, 50 Frank Forsberg, 52 Joshua Yun, 60 Josh Leblanc, 70 Snipe Show.
For our former reigning champs, this was their first draft since @Shindigsstepped down as General Manager. I must say that with limited capital new manager @Blazzerdid a wonderful job. The McFleury's are the most prolific hockey clan in the VHLM right now so grabbing one early, especially as a Defenseman was a clutch move. The trade made for that selection to be possible only cost Las Vegas a 2nd (became Jose Silva) and future 4th if I remember correctly. In the 3rd round, the Aces made two of the best picks in the draft. Thor has some play style issues but with proper coaching from this experienced staff he can be molded into a major contributor with his welfare plus earning. You know what came at a premium in this class? Defensemen! Blazzer added one of the sleepers of the draft with Tyler Swift. Reports say they interviewed poorly but the work ethic and earning for this player is big for building a winner. Based on their debut date and earning rate, they also may be a player in town for multiple seasons. Former coach, Woody Dickerson, had this to say on Swift: "Tyler is a quiet man, they mostly enjoy just listening to their cousin, Taylor's, music pregame instead of getting hype with the team. The guys know they are getting 100% effort on the ice even if that effort isn't shining through in the locker room the same way. Every player is different, and they are an important contributor. I wish them the best." If Blazzer can get some earning on Frank most specifically, that could become the sleeper pick of the draft. The only issue in sight is the volume if they can't get those later players to continue to contribute.

    Mississauga Hounds
    Grade A+
Picks: 11 Logan Foley, 18 Hannibal Barca, 21 Big B, 38 Steve Lattimer, 41 Austin Goulet, 51 Rich Richards, 61 Thomas Matthews, 68 Skor McFleury.
Wow, @a_Ferktook over a team in a downward spiral last season. After an 0-72 campaign they needed a culture shift in this locker room. The priority here was strong personalities off the ice more than on it. Don't get me wrong, a lot of these players will make a huge impact. Look at Hannibal Barca for an example. He possesses natural leadership abilities that can help get any waiver additions in line mid-season. In the Junior Showcase Tournament, he was very solid in limited action for the silver medal Brigade team alongside Austin Goulet. Austin wasn't able to make the same impact on the ice as he was unfortunately placed out of position on defense. Still he showed flashes in similarly limited action. Big B and Lattimer will be solid pieces as they should consistently earn.  The gem of this class will 100% be @WildfireMicro. Earning is great, great personality in the locker room per sources from the Pickles' in the Junior Showcase. Maybe the build could use some slight tweaking. Overall, this is a team captain type of player even with a leader as prolific as Barca there. Amazing work all without their own first which was owned by Ottawa!

    Miami Marauders
    Grade B
Picks: 20 Jose Silva, 23 Swinsola, 48 Maxime, 58 Xiaoping Benguin Dinghao Aland.
This class has concerns which definitely reduced the grade. @nurxmay have over paid on their blockbuster trade of the draft. But at the end of the day the thing that matters is my opinion and I like this draft with such limited resources. For the trade, Nurx brought in a player who is an amazing locker room presence along with a late 2nd in this class. The price for that was a 1st (which became Reese McFleury), a S86 3rd (which became Tim Riggins), a future 3rd, and a future 4th. @Bobo Darius Marimoto II is a morale and leadership piece. According to a quote from the Miami GM, "[Darius] is probably the most active M locker room player in the league. And if not he is very close." This addition almost made me want to give the draft weekend for them an B+ or A-. I do have to be honest though. Swinsola is not the best earner. Maxime is new and we don't have a huge earning profile or activity log to really know what we will see there. Silva has been MIA (pun intended) for a few weeks of this offseason. Aland, I'm told, will become active again but the chance that he loses interest exists. With so few picks and so many risks, its a challenging grade to give. I'm putting faith in this General Manager to steer the ship and make the most of these selections this year. I'm a Believer in Nurx.

Blazzer reacted to Rushin Spy in From Grass to Ice. Backstory of Rushin Spy.
"I pick Rushin." - One kid exclaims.
"Oh come on, he's the best striker here."- Another responds.
In Israel, there is no such thing as hockey. Every kid watched soccer on the TV, every kid's role model is a soccer player, and every kid plays soccer. Rushin was no different except for the fact he had a knack for scoring goals. He was a natural. He was light on his feet, speedy, and he could score goals from any and every angle. The opposing players would double-team him, sometimes even triple-team him, but still, Rushin would get by them with fancy moves and score goals for his team. There was just no stopping him.
The sign had the words "Grand Opening!" printed on it. The first ice rink in Israel had finally opened. Nobody in the country had ever heard of ice skated before. The rink was packed. There was no space on the ice and everybody was losing their balance.
"It looked like everybody was learning to walk again." Somebody said on the news coverage for the opening.
Rushin had paid for his entrance, gotten into the rink, rented some skates, and put them on. He waddled over to the actual ice rink and put his right foot on the ice. He immediately fell. But Rushin did not give up there. He got up from his back and leaned on the side of the rink for balance. He started to move his feet and he started gliding. A light in his head lit up and he immediately knew he was meant to skate. He unwrapped his arms from the side boards and skated along the entire perimeter of the rink. Rushin felt free as if he had no barriers, no limitations. He decided he was going to skate. This was going to be his life and nobody could convince him otherwise.
Once Rushin had arrived home, he received some surprising news. His family was moving to America. His dad had received a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work as a programmer in America. Rushin had to put his newfound dreams on pause to pack all of his belongings up and move to America.
After a month of settling down in his new home in America, Rushin decided it was time to pursue his dreams once again. He told his parents that he wanted to skate and surprisingly, his parents were very supportive. They told Rushin that they would sign him up for some lessons to learn to skate fully. The next day, it was finally time for Rushin to skate again. He entered the rink and rented some equipment out for himself. He put the equipment on and got onto the rink. His teacher stood close to Rushin to make sure that the new skater wouldn't fall but surprisingly, he didn't. It was his second time skating and he didn't fall even once. He was surprised, his parents were surprised, and his teacher was surprised. For the rest of that lesson and the next few lessons, the teacher taught him more technical skills such as skating backward, turning at sharp angles, and even jumping. Rushin quickly learned these and was able to do them with ease.
One day, after school, one of Rushin's newly made friends asked him if he wanted to go watch a hockey game with him. Rushin had only heard small things about hockey and was intrigued to see it in person so he accepted the invitation. His friend's mom drove the two of them to an ice rink. But this one was much larger than the one Rushin attended for his ice skating lessons. The first whistle was blown and the two men in the middle started to dig at the black circle in the middle with the sticks they held in their hands. Rushin's friend knew it was his first game so he explained all the basic rules and even some advanced rules to him. Quickly Rushin knew about the puck and what the main objective of the game was. He watched as the puck flew from stick to stick and from stick to goal. He saw as the man in the net would perform all those acrobatic moves to keep the puck out of the goal. Rushin quickly related hockey to soccer as both sports had two teams passing an object to each other and shooting the object at the goal and trying to get it past the keeper. But hockey seemed to move so much quicker. The puck was a blur on the ice and the players looked like cars as they raced up and down the rink. BANG! One of the players was plastered along the boards. Rushin asked his friend if this was a legal move and his friend responded that in hockey, you can hit people as hard as you can.
The final horn blew and one team evacuated to its dressing room and the other team got off the bench in order to congratulate its goaltender. Hockey was so intriguing to Rushin. He wondered if he would be good at hockey like how he was good at soccer. Once home, he asked his parents if they could sign him up for some hockey lessons as it was intriguing to him. They agreed and the next day they went to the local hockey equipment store to get some equipment. After consulting with the workers there and picking out the best equipment for comfort and safety, they walked out with the equipment and the receipt for a whopping 800$. In the same week, Rushin attended his first hockey lesson. Surprisingly, Rushin moved the puck with ease and was able to levitate the puck off the ice when shooting it toward the goal. Of course, with some help from the coaches there, Rushin was able to improve his form and refine his skills.
A year later, Rushin was passing the puck with his teammates and shooting the puck past opposing goaltenders with ease. He was breaking school records for goals scored and points recorded. He was a beast on the ice. Nothing could stop him. Scouts had come from all over the place to watch him and recruit him to their teams.
He had received his first offer. It was from the Las Vegas Aces. They were in need of a winger and believed that Rushin was a perfect fit. Rushin was so excited and thankful to have the opportunity to play hockey full time and after meeting up with the general manager of the team, it was a no-brainer for Rushin to join the team. He signed his contract and was immediately welcomed to the team.
This coming season will be his first season with his team and his first season as a professional hockey player. He hopes to come out strong and impress early.

So I've been having a bit of fun last night and today. Since a while back I secretly created a player in the SHL under an alias and did my very best to roleplay a pseudo-inactive clicker. In an attempt to do the @JardyB10 Challenge over here. Which worked out pretty well, my player got drafted 45th OA. Just barely before teams started to pass their picks. Which prompted me to drop a 2k word media piece there telling everyone who I was and what the plan was.

I had honestly not expected there to be too much response, I certainly wasn't expecting people to read a 2k article just 10 minutes after the draft ended. But I guess the SHL was lacking some drama, so this got peoples attention. And I've been making the rounds joining all the Discords and introducing myself today. Been a fun time so far, and as an added bonus like 5 people from my draft class decided to join 4.4 East in HN. So the conference that was looking like it would be me, @Blazzer, @Nykonax and some AI teams. Is now nearly a full conference all of a sudden.

Hopefully everything keeps going good and I'll have an impact player over there as well. Having joined up with a team that has a lot of names that are quite familiar on it.

    1. Knowing CBBE, I'd say the odds are slim at best.
    2. I feel like it went pretty well, assuming everyone can be kept active there's a solid 4 core of forwards and 3 dmen. Hopefully the goalie situation gets sorted ASAP.
    3. Don't trust CBBE, ever.
    4. Godawful, which is pretty much par for the course at this point.
    5. CBBE is their shrine, if we're being honest. Though knowing him he probably wants a golden throne as their shrine.
    6. Not have to do contract negotiations with Juan Ceson. It was the best!

Taking on the role of GM for a team is huge but I would like to hire an AGM to work alongside me and the team. It isn't necessary to have prior experience in the field of management because this role is also mainly for you to learn the ropes. There are a few things I need an AGM to do:

Write weekly press conference  Maintain an active locker room presence To handle the multitude of bots we have Do lines, scouting and make sure I don't make a dumb trade
That's about it (or I am pretty sure there's some other tiny stuff that I don't remember rn) and apply below!

Blazzer reacted to Gustav in Minor Rule Updates - Follow-Up to Portal Waivers and S85
    Hello all!

You've seen me hinting that some things may be on the way as a result of the waiver system changing. and here's part of it. Getting straight to the point:

The above rule has been eliminated, effective immediately. Given that there is no reason to incentivize offers, as all offers are now given automatically, we see no reason to restrict what GMs can and cannot do with their lines based on any incentive.

    On to a separate point...

Last season, a question was raised to us regarding the placement of players within the lines of a team, wherein a team was found to be playing forwards on defense when other teams were under the impression that this was not allowed. As certain teams had been managed in a way that put them at a disadvantage as a result of this perception, we chose to outlaw the use of players out of position for the remainder of S85 so that all teams could play under the same conditions.

After further discussion, we have agreed that teams should be allowed to use players as they wish, under certain conditions, as the mid-season "every team should face the same conditions" factor is no longer a factor.

As a result, Rule 2.2 will now become:

    @VHLM GM
    @VHLM Commissioner

Blazzer reacted to N0HBDY in TRUE CRIME: VHL - AJ?
Our investigation started February 24th, 2022 when an officer was dispatched to the Las Vegas Aces facility to investigate the disappearance of a member by the name of AJ. Due to staff shortages in the police department a member from the Horny Police division, Lieutenant N0HBDY, was sent to lead the investigation. When asking about the last known whereabouts of AJ, Lt. N0HBDY was informed that he had been found, but there was some suspicion lingering in the back of Lt. N0HBDY’s head and he believed that this claim of them being found was a coverup. When asked for proof he was told that he did not have access to it and would not be getting access without a warrant. Bribed with “love” Lt. N0HBDY then took eagle_3450 for questioning. But before eagle could be taken in for questioning the evidence previously asked for and denied was given, with the evidence being presided and the situation lacking any horniness Lt. N0HBDY decided that his time was then no longer needed, case closed. Or so you thought!

3 days later,  user AJ is almost a month past their ban for claiming on multiple accounts, costing them their job as the Vegas GM. Lt. N0HBDY remembering his brief time in Vegas just a couple of days ago decides to go and ask about AJ, as they had not been heard of since. In response to the questions asked, Eagle responds by admitting to money fraud, completely irrelevant, but nonetheless illegal. Lt. N0HBDY knowing that isn’t his department moves past the felony and continues to focus on the disappearance of AJ believing Eagle was trying to deflect the conversation. After further pressing and questioning on Eagle they claimed they weren’t even in the league when AJ was banned. Lt. N0HBDY believes that it isn’t just some coincidence that AJ gets banned for having multi’s, then a new member shows up trying to take his job, he believes that Eagle planted those multi’s. The only wrinkle in Eagles plan up to that point was that he didn’t get the full GM job and had to settle with an additional letter, becoming the AGM for the Aces. Eagle gets nervous and calls for his lawyer, ending this confrontation for the moment, but as he is on the phone contacting his lawyer, he takes off.

Ever since that last encounter, Lt. N0HBDY has not seen Eagles again, but in that time he begins to connect the dots. Looking at other prominent members in the Vegas locker room at the time one member in particular stuck out, Dylan. Their play Juan Ceson, insinuating they’re a single season player, decided they would go against their named purpose and become a franchise player for the Aces. Dylan took his role in the Vegas locker room seriously, without being in any form of management for the Aces they took it upon themself to control the locker room and become captain for the team. The idea of Eagle having an accomplice in all this became more and more real the closer Lt. N0HBDY looked at it. Dylan who had been a member since 2019 decided that they wanted to become the general manager of the Aces. He started off by recruiting fiery new member Eagle to take over the organization with him by framing the then current GM AJ to get them relieved of their duties and rule the Aces with their green and black bleeding hearts.

After successfully framing AJ we pick up to where the plan started to fail, instead of Eagle becoming the GM, MubbleFubbles was instead given the task. Dylan now having a body to deal with and no management role became enraged with Eagle for their plan failing. Dylan decided to take the body and hide it from Eagle, he then cleared it of any evidence that he had left on AJ’s body and used the body to blackmail Eagle from then on. Using his power of blackmail he silently pushed Eagle out of Vegas so that he could have it all to himself and begin his own takeover plan. At the conclusion of that season the hunt to find a permanent GM for Vegas began as Interim Mubbles would be relieved of his duties. Dylan, using AJ and now posing as him, applied for the opening but was once again unsuccessful in taking over the duty.

Dylan was left with nothing but a body in the aftermath of it all. Most would likely dump the body and then move on, but Dylan isn’t like most, he had gotten used to posing as AJ in his day to day and decided to keep on going with his new persona. Continuing to use AJ in S84, 3 seasons after the initial takeover plan fell apart, Dylan completed his goal of taking over, only he had widened his goal from just taking over Vegas management, to any team in the VHLM, which he got Houston.

While keeping this investigation in mind Lt. N0HBDY overheard that Vegas would be creating a new facility in Phoenix, AZ. funded by none other than Dylan himself, the perfect time to try and dispose of the body? Dylan was found at the construction site during the laying of the foundation, it is now believed that the body of AJ now lays underneath the future practice facility. Slowly, now Chief N0HBDY of the Horny Police has been collecting evidence related to the case but lacks the jurisdiction to take action as it’s not his department and cannot get a judge to sign off on any type of warrant. It is believed that to this day AJ is still the puppet to Dylan who is the real person running the bulls.

Though Chief N0HBDY cannot take action he felt it was necessary to bring this case to the public so that they could be aware of the crimes happening behind the scenes. So, do you think Eagle and his rogue accomplice Dylan really committed these crimes? Leave your feedback in the poll above or in the response section below, this has been True Crime: VHL

The disappearance of multiple commissioners, could they all be linked to one man, quite possibly the man on top? Could this be a twisted case of king of the hill? Tune in next time.

    Hello VHL!

As you are all aware the blue team has been running as just myself and @Josh for awhile now since @bigAL (RIP) stepped down from the position. This has been, on the whole, fine but we both agree that the blue team has historically ran best as a trio. Especially given that I just had my second kid and Josh is soon having his first having double baby brain with no extra assistance seems like a recipe for disaster which is why today we are announcing that the blue team is once again going to be three members. We would like to officially announce that @Acydburn will be leaving his post as VHLE commish and taking on the blue team mantel officially!

That does, of course, leave a gap at the VHLE level. Fear not, we are not leaving @Enorama to run the place by himself so recently after taking on the role. Instead we are bringing @thadthrasher in as the official second VHLE commish.

After just shaking up the VHLM last season it will mercifully stay the same and hopefully our full RGB teams can remain in place for a bit and continue to make improvements to their respective leagues.

Shrimp's VHLM career comes to an end after 2 seasons. Shrimp played for 3 teams throughout the 2 seasons and racked up almost a point per game through his tenure there. San Diego was the first home for Shrimp and he loved and enjoyed every moment of being a marlin. It has helped shaped him as a player with a wonderful team and most importantly, GM. The show isn't over for Shrimp as he moves to Bratislava for the upcoming VHLE season. Even though Shrimp hasn't been a luck charm in the playoffs, who said the playoffs were meant to be easy? It's a tough grind to make it to the top and just like life, we all got this!

    Shrimp's statement:
I feel it is time for me to get promoted to a bigger league and i am confident that I am ready for it. The coaches in the VHLM has been incredibly helpful to help me grow as a player on and off the ice. This is a wonderful opportunity and I am forever grateful to grow my career in Europe. I heard Bratislava is an amazing team with a really chill GM so I am looking forward to meeting him in person!

Blazzer reacted to Spartan in New VHLM Waiver System
For the second time today, hello!

We were very excited to welcome two new VHLM GMs today and felt that we should keep the party going with a second announcement. Last season, @Gustav  and I made two significant changes to the workings of the VHLM - increasing VHLM GM pay from 2 TPE to 4 TPE, and changing up the draft pick holding rules to prevent unhealthy asset management in a league oriented towards development and retention. We promised to increase the quality of the VHLM GM experience, but last season felt more like we were restricting our GMs as to what they could and couldn't do.

Today, we'd like to announce our largest change yet - a completely revamped waiver process and system that is now fully run through the portal. That's right! VHLM GMs no longer have to post offers into waiver threads or constantly lurk the forums in order to secure a new player. This system also puts the decision-making process into the hands of the newly created player with a simple yet informative UI thanks to the work of @Dil. Here's what new creates will see immediately after creating their player:

(Data and teams are from S80 for testing and demonstration purposes)

We chose elements for this page based on what we felt were the most important aspects of a team that influence a player's decision. All the teams will be sorted by standings, and the # of players per team is also visible. This should allow users to have a better understanding of the situation they're walking into. Using the screenshot above, a new center would see that some of the top teams could use a third line center, but Las Vegas is the best team that can offer them a top 6 role. We hope that this new UI will give enough information to new creates without overwhelming them in a sea of data points.

To add a bit more of a personal touch from the GM along with more information on a potential player's fit on the team, we've given VHLM GMs the ability to write (and update via Team Management) a pitch and projected position that new creates can choose to read when picking between teams:

(Sample text for what a new user would see)

Once a new create chooses a team, they will be redirected into a forum DM created between the new create, the team GM and the team AGM if the team has one. This will alert the team's management that a new create would like to join the team so that they can begin interacting with the new user, invite them to the team LR and get them signed to a contract. The automated DM will also include helpful links to forum content such as the TPE Guide and the Updated Build Guide. As many have mentioned before, new creates sometimes simply never venture into the forum or feel like the forum is too difficult to navigate in terms of finding relevant and helpful content. This new process both redirects new users to the forum and presents them with resources to begin their VHL journey on the right path.

Finally, this system can be modified at the discretion of the VHLM Commissioners. Based on the league population and positional data, we can change what we consider to be "full" teams, and increase/decrease the threshold for a team's position to display as favorable or unfavorable. This system will also be deactivated from the start of the playoffs until the conclusion of the VHLM Draft. Any creates during playoffs or the offseason will need to be signed via written pitch in their new create thread, as was the common practice.

    ---

We're very excited to see this new system in action for S86 and hope that it improves the overall experience for new VHL users. Expect to see various VHLM rule changes being announced in the coming days as we transition the VHLM rulebook away from the old waiver system, and remove rules largely created to incentivize GMs making written pitches to new players. As always, please let us know if you have any questions or feedback!
