Calgary Wranglers press conference
jacobcarson877 replied to diamond_ace's topic in Team Press Conferences
1. Feels like we're back to normal! For some reason Leandro works best alone and Janser and I are much worse without each other. But now we have 2 units clicking and that's how we win! 2. I think he has all the tools to win it, aand I hope very much so that he does, but I'm concerned about the opportunity he has compared to other candidates. We know STHS loves to hand out pity points, so Dixon on HSK or Murdock on MOS have a great shot at winning it as well. 3. Whatever I've been putting in there since rejoining his line 4. Well we could always allow more shots, but I fear that isn't the most optimal solution for the team. Shutouts I think we can help a lot with by continuing to keep shots down. 5. Sorry that was me, I've been on a rum kick these days. 6. I could not tell you actually, probably the same as usual, like 3rd in their division behind the top 2 teams in the league? Destined for a first round exit to the best team that's ever been iced? And F1 is starting soonish so we shall see how that goes. -
Awesome stuff!

Vlg box of crap ( litterally)
jacobcarson877 replied to vincentlg2007's topic in Archived Media Spots
rookie season can be rough man, but once you get through it, all of a sudden it starts to click. and Calgary hasn't been scoring at our usual rate to start the season anyways, so once the big guys get going the points will come. -
VHL, Do we have a Goaltending issue?

Yes. But also as an ex-goalie it is nice to see the Goalies getting some love. -

Well the first week is well underway and it has been a very interesting one to say the least. San Diego got off to an 8-0 start before dropping 2 straight games and then going 1-0-1 to bring our current record to 9-2-1. Somehow the entire league is at that pace though because despite this we are sitting 3rd in the standings. The defense (outside of one very weird 9-7 win over Halifax) has been outstanding, and the scoring has been exactly good enough. There is still a lot of growth to be had over the next couple of weeks for our forwards and they seem eager to take on the challenge. It is nice to see all of the lines rolling pretty well, and having everyone have at least some amount of success. I wish there was more I could do for them, with the lines working and the roster full it feels a bit like I’m just sitting back and watching a well-oiled machine running perfectly. The Discord is chatty, players are earning and the points are coming for the most part. Should be a pretty good season, but part of me does miss the days where I felt like I was fighting for every point. Calgary however has gotten off to a rockier start. We’ve had a pretty brutal schedule to start, but it would have been nice to walk away with a few more points to start the season. We followed a very logical approach to assembling lines to start this season, but apparently that wasn’t the key to the offense. I have returned to working with Janser, and Leandro has been doing great solo. Very funny that Landon and Leandro haven’t figured it out yet, but so long as this configuration keeps working, no real complaints. Landon has a lot of work to do if he hopes to improve on last season’s total, and he’ll need to be a lot more consistent. He has quite a few multi-point appearances so far, but lacks game-to-game consistency. There’s really not much more I can add to Landon, so it would be pretty sad if all he is is a point per game player. I’m already shooting 6%, 2nd in the league in shots but no where near the board in goals. It is incredibly strange that I continue to shoot so poorly, and apparently had the most of my shots blocked last season. I keep getting reassured that all shots are in fact created equal in STHS, and that shooting doesn’t have a variable danger level, so I suppose I just have to hope one of these seasons I can have a good shooting percentage? I mean all it takes is a few multi-goal games to get back on track but the fact that I’ve opened the season once again so hot on the shot clock but so cold on the scoreboard is strange. Feels quite strange now that I’m at max build, and I meant to leave my tasks until later in the week since there really is no rush to get anything in, but here we are again.

Here are a list of some VHL-related projects that I’m hoping to do, time allowing, starting in the summer. Spartan wanted forum content so I suppose this could work. First thing I want to do, as I learn web scraping and such, is create a TPE tracker for my players, I have one that I keep up manually for the first little bit of the season (I forgot last week already), and it is a real hassle to update, so why not get a computer to do it for me! Basically it would just break down who has earned what, and in what way. It would then show what is left that could be earned and provide links to that task. I know AJ was talking about this as a league-wide initiative, right on the forum, but I will simply try to make it a reality for my team. Secondly, after I get some experience under my belt, I want to see what sorts of stats I can scrape from the full play-by-play in the games. Add in the index stats and create a sheet full of yummy stats I can do some analysis on. I feel like there is a wealth of knowledge in the full play-by-play. I also want to eventually get STHS up and running and do some testing of my own. I’m not sure what I’d do yet, but I’d be looking to generate more stats for analysis later, since lack of stats is really the drawback of my current process. If I can generate another 50 seasons of data or something insane like that, and not manually add it to my sheet like I did before, there is a lot more I could do on the topic of player builds and line management, with far more certainty.

San Diego Marlins Press Conference
jacobcarson877 replied to Oatex's topic in Team Press Conferences
1. Honestly, could've been a better start. Not catastrophic by any means, but Calgary hasn't been clicking offensively yet. 2. I just hit my max build last week, at least for a while. I'll be monitoring my PIMs and adding LD and DI as needed, hopefully without sacrificing my build down the line. 3. It feels slower than normal with no career tasks and waiting on confirmation to do a HOF article. 4. AirRig GoodBrandSun @Rhynex Entertainment, or Ivan Retoslav @eagle_3450 5. I don't like to eat right before the game, but earlier in the day I'd crush a big ol' blender of smoothie and some classic chicken, rice and veggies. 6. I ignored school and played a bunch of Skyrim. -
