    This would be interesting, I’d sign up. 
     

    Theoretically, you could carry over the portal and just change it to different skills. Rather than puck handling and scoring, there would be racing attributes. 
     

    However, the teams system is totally different. Hendricks Motorsports doesn’t draft racers, they sign them. No drafting whatsoever in NASCAR, so it would be heavy on contract offers and free agency and low on drafting from GMs.

     

    You’d also have to rearrange the points system (teams and drivers both have chances to be series winners), contracts could be really weird, since there are no salary caps.

     

    And regression. Some people win at 49 and others peter out at 29. Lots has to be done
     

    Ultimately, I’m saying that NASCAR is not hockey.

    Tucker In The Minors, Part 4: Future In Vanny?

    Well, a season draws to its end, and so does Henry Tucker’s VHLM career. A breakout year this year, helped by shooting up to 15th in TPE for S76 VHL drafted players (he was drafted 26th), has punched his ticket to the majors by reaching 250 TPE and then some, as he is currently about to be at 286 TPE. He has big plans for the 36 TPE, as he’s gonna improve his DI from 43 to 70. He currently has 99 PIM, one of the top totals for 250 TPE players in the league. Also, his max earning spree has propelled him to #4 in Minnesota’s draft class, and he’s the #1 prospect. He is still encouraging @Trunkxolotl to earn, as he just needs 21 more TPE to be eligible for playing in the majors next season. Tucker had this to say about Tater Tot.

     

    ”He’s real solid back there in Minnesota, we wouldn’t be in first place if we didn’t have him. That 2.88 GAA is just real solid, and as a team, we couldn’t ask for more. In Vanny, he’s just been rockin’ the TPE, to think that he’s gonna be the goalie of the future is just super exciting. I cannot wait to see how he does up there, Y’know, and he’s been a hell of a 42nd pick, if I’m honest.”

    FYI @Hank, here are the teams currently slated to make the playoffs. 
     

    Houston

    Mexico City 

    Yukon

    Minnesota 

    Miami

    Ottowa

     

    Philadelphia is 3 points behind Ottawa, so they are also very much in the running for the playoffs, so if you want extra experience playing, these are some damn good destinations.

    Not too long ago I read a pretty amazing book called “THE ROOKIE” by Scott Sigler. It is part of a series called the Galactic Football League. In this Sci-Fi series humans have explored and expanded beyond the earth and there are many different alien species. When you add in some crazy medical technology you have the base for an interesting looks about what Football could look like under those circumstances. The Following questions will be inspired by my reading of this book, I hope you enjoy this little dose of Sci-Fi.

     

    1. Would you ever get a cybernetic body part to improve your performance out on the ice?

    No, I’m a man of ethics.

    2. Do you think there would be more or less issues between humans if we discovered aliens?

    More, obviously. New stuff=problems.

    3. Do you think the VHL would let non humanoid life forms grace its hockey arenas?

    Well, we’ll test it. My recreate will be named E.T. and we’ll see if they let him on the ice.

    4. Would you ever throw a game for money?

    I don’t think so... 

    5. Do you think we take enough pride in representing our teams here in the VHL?

    I think so.

    6. Do you think Hockey would be cooler in space?

    Would be colder, for sure, but prolly not cooler.

    7. What is one thing you would change about hockey to make it an Intergalactic sport?

    Get into a fight to inspire the guys. Also, get the PIMs so they can put a more qualified person on the ice.

    For sure

    Only if you apply your insanity in a sensible way.

    Well, Henry Tucker has got himself all the way up to 250 TPE! In one season! And then some as well, he currently has 270 TPE (272 after this article), and has been having a career season. His good friend, @Trunkxolotl and his goalie Tater Tot, teammates on Minnesota and Vancouver, have been pushing hard to get the goalie to 250 as well, so they can debut together. The two have come to the attention of the front office as the top prospects of the future, as Tucker is the #1 prospect (though 2 are currently in the pros), which isn’t bad for being the 5th choice for Vanny and 26th overall. Meanwhile, Tater Tot is the shoo-in for backup goalie next year, with the starter retiring. If he can keep up the earning, he has a chance of surpassing Markus Emerson Jr. at some point in his career. 
     

    Anyways, back to Tucker, he got 1st star recently for a 4-point outburst, and has 16 goals and 38 assists thru 48 games, good for 54 points. His plus/minus stands at +13, and he has attempted 154 shots (10.4% accuracy), with 146 hits, 3 shots blocked, and 6 power play goals. He seems to love the penalty box, as he has spent 83 minutes lounging there so far this season. It’s quite plainly incredible.
