BrutalBoost reacted to InstantRockstar in Road To 50 Wins - Achieved
When Augustus Kennedy entered the league late, almost 100 TPE behind some of his counterparts in goal, his worries were simply that he would not amount to be anything of great success in his rookie year, simply due to being behind so many great talents on the other teams, however Saskatoon really helped him break out of his shell and as of this past sim, he has now achieved his 50th win of his early career in just 68 starts, with a record of 50-17-1. On top of achieving a huge milestone of wins, he also leads the league in GAA amongst starters (2.74%) and also has the third best SV% amongst starters (0.895%). If that wasn't impressive enough, Augustus has also captured 4 shutouts in his career, tied third in the league among all goalies, and has also assisted on 6 goals for his team, with some end to end magic on the ice. Overall, this went from being a very 'worrisome' season to the best result Augustus could've asked for, and he can only thank the team and management that has been put in front of him, without them, he'd be nowhere, likely a nobody, failing miserably.

Ok, I was just watching Steve’s Hat Picks and saw Patty Kane score from behind the net and this question popped into my head. If you played hockey, what would be your most memorable highlight? That’s the question.

Since I asked, let me start off. My Junior year high school I started to play Men’s Hockey with local park district. I was not allowed to play high school hockey because I was 18. I never been held back in school. The park district had 2 leagues. A “H League,” which was a house league that hat 4 levels H1-H4, and a “C League,” competitive league, C1-C3. The director of hockey placed me in H1, the higher level house league. I played for 10 games with them, scoring over 23 goals. Then the director though I was doing to good and decided to throw me into a C1 team that no one thought will make playoffs. I wasn’t doing as well, only scoring 5 goals in 17 games. But that team made it to playoffs just barely and we actually made it to the finals. The finals were best out of 5 and we were tied 2-2. In the final game, with 3 minutes left in the game we were loosing 6-5 and we were on a penalty kill. The team captain called a time out and out me into the game, the puck draw was in the offensive zone for us. We won the draw and a just straight blasted the puck past the goalie, tying the game. 1 minute before end of game one of our defensemen gets a penalty. The other team calls the time out. The captain tells everyone he is going to pull the goalie and I will be going in. We won the face off and the defense dumped the puck. I get out there and bust my ass to get to the puck. I didn’t make it but I managed to strip the puck off of the defensemen and dump it back in. After chasing after it, it was just me and 3 defensemen behind the net, we were right by the trapezoid area and none of my team mates were there. So, I decided to send it and hope for the best. Some how it went in and no one but me saw that, so I was the only one celebrating until ref noticed it and blew the whistle. We ended up winning because of that. So, that was my most memorable highlight.

The following season I shattered a Talus bone on my right ankle and never play again. That was 8 years ago.

Saskatoon Wild - S82 Roster Standouts

Saskatoon - The season has been underway in the VHLM, fans from across North America and beyond are extremely excited to see top prospects play in their respective cities. One of those cities is Saskatoon, which has been a bottom feeder in the standings for a few years now. But it seems the tide has turned for this team, not to jump the gun on this team. But they’ve had a flattering campaign to start Season 82 off. So far, they’ve been able to secure 2nd spot in the Western Conference with 37 points in 29 games. Just behind the Houston Bulls for the top spot with 40 points. Saskatoon has a jammed-pack lineup full of talent top to bottom. Today we’ll take a look at a few of the stand-out stars on the Wild team. That had contributed to their team's success immensely.

Minou Lambert @Minoulambert23 - Minou Lambert has a small lanky build for a left-winger, listed at over 6 feet but only 150 lbs. After a stint with the Mexico City Kings in Season 81, Lambert posted 44 points (23 G, 21A) with the team. Although he put up some promising numbers with the team, he showed he can mean much more to the offense. In Saskatoon this season, he’s posted almost identical offensive numbers, scoring 46 points (19 G, 27 A) all in just 29 games. He’s been a pleasant surprise in Saskatoon that has been quickly going up the ranks.

Jeff Buffy @Strider- Jeff Buffy is a (as you guessed it) buff defenseman built like a tank, being 6 foot 5 and weighing in at 235 pounds. He’s a returning Saskatoon player, last year he put up decent offensive numbers with 12 goals and 45 assists in 64 games. Being a big defender like Buffy, he also racked up some promising physicality numbers, such as 157 hits with 106. Numbers like those showed that Jeff has a ton of potential, which resulted in Saskatoon selecting Buffy with their first overall pick. This season showed Buffy has no signs of slowing down. Posting 6 goals with 24 assists in 29 games, with 81 hits and 41 shots blocked. He’s well on target to break his season stats from last year. Buffy has been a leader on the defense that Saskatoon needed, skies the limit for this guy.

Augustus Kennedy@InstantRockstar - Augustus is a young goaltender that has been the backbone of this team since the start of the season. When Saskatoon drafted the young goaltender, he was placed with enormous responsibilities right from the get-go. He was ordered to be the starting goaltender for this young Saskatoon Wild team. And he clearly didn’t disappoint, with a 18-10 record with 2 shutouts and a .896 save percentage. Which is not bad at all for a first-year VHLM rookie.

Saskatoon has been full of pleasant surprises this season, with some standout stars that have prevailed under the Wild management. We hope to see what they can do as the season progresses. GO SASKATOON!

So, I am usually not good at doing something like this but here we go. This is going to be my assessment of how we, Saskatoon Wild, did in the Season 82 draft. In my opinion it was an interesting draft as most draftees were over 100 TPE.

Saskatoon started off this draft with 13 picks and midway through we moved on to have 14 as we traded Miami our 36th overall for their 43rd and 63rd. I knew that trade was going to be good for us because I knew that the next pick I wanted to make was still going to be available by the time we got to our 42nd and 43rd picks.

So, to start off with our picks, the first four picks were defenders. I am one of those people who believe protecting the net is more important than scoring goals. So, picking Jeff Buffy @Strider, Brian Kowalski @Wheaties, Kyou Fujibayashi @Azorochi, and Pucky McSticks @PuckyMcStick was a no brainer for me. I picked Jeff Buffy because he is my brother but also he has a really good defensive build. His Defense, Puck Handling, Passing and Scating all at 70 or above. He would make a perfect first line pairing. Brian Kowalski would round off that pairing. He is another defenseman with a good build, putting 60 points in skating, passing, and puck handling. But all of that rounded up with 75 in defense. Then it came to picking the second pairing. The first pick was Kyou Fujibayashi. I picked him because he has a decent build. His passing, scoring and defense are all at 70 which means he has a great potential of being a great 2 way defenseman. Lastly, Pucky McSticks, he has an ok build with defense at 70, passing at 60, and skating at 55. I thought he would round off the 4 defensemen nicely.

Our 5th pick was a goaltender and I think I needed to make that pick here otherwise I wouldn’t had any other option after words. There are two goalies I was looking at, Gavin Zininger and Augustus Kennedy @InstantRockstar. Both of them had fairly good build and both were up there in TPE. In the end I decided to go with Augustus Kennedy just because I had good times interviewing with him and I think he has a lot of good to bring to the team.

The remainder of my picks were supposed to be forwards. With the first forward pick, I chose Ryan (45th Overall), because I was surprised he was not picked earlier and just because I thought he would compliment Jack Quill, who I had left from last season, nicely. He has a good distribution of points to make him a strong 2 way player. Tyler Thode was picked by my AGM (63rd Overall) but he completes my 1st line nicely. He has 70 passing and scoring, while maintaining 50+ in puck handling, skating, and defense.

Our second line was entirely chosen by the AGM. He chose Sean Murphy @Abraham Lincoln (59th Overall) as our center. He has a decent build with 70 in scoring and passing, but I would have loved to see a little more points in faceoff. Chase Taylor @NyQuil was chosen 49th overall to be our left wing on the second line. His build is very good. Putting up 75 points in scoring and 70 in skating. He has the potential of being one of the top scorers on our team. To complete the 2nd line, Minou Lambert @Minoulambert23was chosen as 54th overall. Another left winger but he will be playing right for the time being. Like everyone else, he has 70 points in skating and scoring, and 56 in defense. He has the potential of being a good 2 way forward for line 2.

Our third line starts off with another carry over from last season. Alexsei Volchenko @Austin2997is a center who will be starting as a right wing this season. He has 70 points in scoring but 50-60 points in passing, skating, and puck handling. The center for the third line will be Randy @Dust bucket(55th overall). He has 70 in scoring, 62 in skating, 56 in passing, and 51 in faceoff. He is a young center who I believe will have a great future. Rounding off the 3rd line is Nathan Ingram @NatIng14(57th Overall). He is yet another young forward on our team with most his points currently distributed between defense, skating, and checking. He has a potential of being a strong 2 way forward. Most of our third line was picked with the future in mind. We are hoping to retain these younger players for S83, but we are hoping for great things and great earnings for them this season.
The last 2 picks were kind of my fault. I did not quite clearly clarify what I was hoping to achieve with picks 70 and 71. But regardless, I got 2 young defenseman who we are hoping will give us a great future. Brodie Landry III @Brodie_Landry was picked as 71 overall. He has gotten 61 points in skating and 55 points in defense. He has a great career ahead of him and we can’t wait to see what he can do for us. Juan Ceson @dylanjj37 is an interesting pick 70 for us. He somehow managed to be drafted by 2 VHL teams this season, Calgary Wranglers, and Los Angeles Stars. I guess teams just want him. We will see how his career progresses as the season moves along and we hope for best earnings for them.

So, that completes the entire Saskatoon line up. This was an interesting draft indeed. I do believe Saskatoon for sure is going to be a strong playoff contender this season. We got decently strong forward lines. With some players even able to cover for defense. Our defense is very strong and can protect the net well. We have also picked up a strong goalie who has a lot of potential to reach elite status fast. Perhaps we may even have a shot at the cup. Let's go Saskatoon, let's show them what we got.

    3. If there was to be a VHLM all star game, who would the early representative from the Marlins be?
    4. Though our record is one of the worst in the league, Ivan Retoslav and Landon Wolanin both are top ten in scoring (Wolanin also top ten in goals, Retoslav top ten in assists), thoughts on their performances?

    2. I think it would be to have a stacked defense. Protecting the net is a big must for me. If we have good goalie and good defense, we are set. As far as offense, anyone can score a goal.
    3. Hmm, I got to go with Reinhardt. Jkjk. For the longest time its been M1A1 but I think Tiger II may have a fighting chance.

    1. Honestly, I was surprised that I was gonna get drafted this season, but I am happy that it is on to this team and not the Lynx. Jkjk, I would of been happy on any team but I am glad it is this one.
    4. Aren't we a sea bearing team? Maybe that is why he trying to communicate with sea creatures
    5. Because they are Flyers.

As the VHLM Finals come to an end (GG Lynx), there have been a lot of things on VHLM GM or AGM minds. Some are preparing for the S82 VHLM Dispersal Draft. Others are left feeling cold, depressed and nostalgic about their team that unfortunately had missed their mark. I guess as a Saskatoon AGM, it’s my duty to reflect on the S81 Saskatoon Roster.

Coming into the season, there were low expectations for the Saskatoon Wild. They were not expected to be a top caliber team by any means. In the S81 draft, Saskatoon traded up for the first overall pick to certify their goalie position, picking up Cole Pearce who was a goalie quickly rising up the ranks. The Wild then went on to pick Connor Johnson, Rusty Cannon and Alessio Simeoni picked in the first three rounds of the draft. Lastly, in the latter rounds of the draft Saskatoon picked Jack Quill and Nick Letty in the 6th and 7th rounds respectively. The Wild evenly balanced out their picks with 3 defensive (Pearce, Johnson, Cannon) and 3 offensive (Simeoni, Quill, Letty) players picked in the draft. It was a successful draft for the Wild, they utilized all their draft picks as best as they could. And hoped to surprise some people when the season commenced.

Not only did Saskatoon gain some skillful players through the draft, but they also acquired many of them through free agent signings. Picking up the likes of Tyler Thode, Sean Murphy, Latavuis Jackson, Chase Taylor, Chris Irons, Blake MacTavish, Jeff Buffy, Bob Rob, Bradley Wall, Ostin Leavens and Jay Saucey along the way.

As games passed on the schedule passed for the Wild. It became clear that the Wild couldn’t keep up with the front runners of the VHLM. This ultimately led them to become sellers during the trade deadline. Trading their top players in Connor Johnson, Alessio Simeoni, Rusty Cannon, Cole Pearce. But for every trade, there has to be compensation. The Wild picked up Dylan Dubnyk, Robbie Robbie, Kyou Fujibayashi and tons of draft picks in return after all was said and done.

Saskatoon finished with 55 points at the end of the regular season. Although it was marginally better than last year’s point total (33), Saskatoon found themselves at the bottom half in the teams standings. Even though this was the case, they managed to squeak into the playoffs to faceoff against the mighty Las Vegas Aces. As expected, the Wild roster was extremely outmatched by the Aces, losing the series 4-0. Which marked the end of the season for Saskatoon.

Although the season might be considered a disappointment, I would beg to differ. In my first season as an AGM I’ve learned a multitude of things and I enjoyed contributing a tad more to this community. This is just the stepping stone for what’s to come in my managing career. Sky’s the limit for the Saskatoon team, and I look forward to seeing how far this team will go in the upcoming seasons!
