Dear fellow WJC players and fans,
 
It is my pleasure to be the GM of such a great squad, although the rosters have yet to be confirmed the one thing that is set, is our new logo!
With a hard, disappointing year in the WJC last season I hope to bring Team USA back on the stage and the re-branding of the team's logo is only just the start!

Mikey Markov Junior Review
 
            Born February 17th 2005, Mikey Markov was born to 2 hockey loving parents; Matthew and Liz Markov. The family has come from a long line of hockey players such as David Markov and Andre Markov who lit it up in the NHL of old. The family line has been very rich in hockey talent safe to say and it looks like that will continue for years to come.
 
            Mikey began skating when he was only 1 year old and quickly learned the advanced techniques he would later use in his career. Mikey played competitively at the age of 8 in a local league called the MJHL. Mikey played mainly against kids who were bigger than him as this league was U13. It was a challenge that Mikey took and excelled from with 71 goals and 43 assists in 56 games in his first season in the league.

            When Mikey left the league tragedy struck. His father Matthew Markov was involved in a deadly car crash in which he collided with a drunk driver on April 29th 2017. The family was hit hard by the news as Mikey lost a father and Liz lost a husband. They went through heavy turmoil here which almost ended the career of the young phenom before it even really started.
 
            At the age of 14, Mikey decided to get a job to help support his family as Liz began to save for her retirement. Mikey began working as an assistant equipment manager for the local AHL team; Manitoba Moose. Mikey earned good money at his job and had several great experiences. This job meant the world to him and he did everything he could to impress his employers in search of a raise. I suppose you could say he got a raise because at the age of 15 Mikey’s agent and him accepted an offer to play in the WHL where Mikey was granted exceptional status and welcomed into the league.
 
            It was definitely a bumpy road for the kid but in his only season in the WHL his totals definitely impressed with 21 goals 28 assists for 49 points in the 56 game season. His stats gained the attention of the professional men’s league, VHL. Mikey enjoyed a brief playoff run with the Houston Bulls of the VHLM which is the minor associate of the VHL. Mikey is currently waiting for the S79 VHLM Dispersal Draft to see what his next team will be.

Hai guys, Ledge here. So recently, as I so obnoxiously put on the front page of the VHL with a status update, I conducted a poll involving YOU to determine what the name of my next create will be. Frankly, I only used the poll for one bit of information, and as I mentioned at the top of the thread, it was between two names the entire time, which I'll bet you could quickly guess which. Mattias Zetterstrom and Smolder Bravestone are the two names I'm considering for my next player, which I know won't be for a while but hey, I want to be prepared. So I put out the poll, with Zetterstrom and Bravestone at the top and then filling it out with two names I made up, Daxon Marcel and Gildon Kempton, but was not too fond of, and Geoffrey Pynes Jr, essentially the option for 'other'. However much I would love to use my precious recreate name to mock @rory, it's really a name that carries too many memories of disappointment and lottery tournaments (lol). So yeah, between the first two names.
 
    Mattias Zetterstrom is a name to carry on the Zetterstrom name, the Swedish surname I made up using my Swedish name formula that I am so, so proud of. Mattias is named after Mattias Ekholm, one of my favourite NHL players and one of my favourite names. Nevertheless, he will use Simon Edvinsson has his render, because I don't like the idea of an 18 year old kid sporting a full beard. 
    The other one, Smolder Bravestone, is the main character in Jumanji, one of the GOAT movies (at least the second one, welcome to the jungle). He is played by The Rock, and he's lit (and cake is not one of his weaknesses). I thought it was an awesome name, and it was shortly after I named Linus that I realized I could have named him Smolder. Ehhhh, it looks like I may end up naming Linus' successor that anyway, based on the results.
 
            The survey results reckoned that while Pynes Jr is a fantastic meme name, Bravestone was more popular than Zetterstrom and should therefore become my next name. However, I will take this survey into almost no consideration while making the decision, so it was just a publicity stunt. LMFAO

Papa Emeritus Junior Review
From Satanic Pope to Satanic Player
 
If you are reading this and expecting some form of normalcy I would suggest you put your expectations aside now, for Papa Emeritus is far from your normal hockey player. In fact it's quite possible that he is as far from normal as one can be.
 
Papa's career started not in a rink, but rather in a church. Born into the noble Emeritus bloodline of the satanic clergy, Papa's future aspirations were limited. Simply put, you follow the family tradition of becoming a Satanic Pope or you die. Those remain the only two options. Indeed Papa did initially follow the path of the clergy, teaching Satan's ways far and wide and embracing his heritage, but he wanted more. He wanted to follow a path that would allow for greater teachings and greater conversion opportunities.
 

 
As he began searching for a greater calling he discovered the wonder that is hockey. So violent, so vicious: Satan was clearly pleased with this sport. He requested leave from the clergy in order to study the sport more closely and embrace it as Satan's own. At first the members of the higher order were displeased but in the end they allowed his brother to take over as Pope and Papa was allowed to travel and experience this most wondrous of games.
 
It was ultimately the position of goalie that drew him in most. While not in the fray directly, this position would allow him to control the outcomes more directly, allowing Satan more control over the games themselves through him. It also allowed Papa to retain 5 nameless ghouls, to which he was accustomed. Unfortunately no teams he played for appreciated him referring to the skaters as such but, in time, change is likely to come. As his teammates embrace Satan, so to shall they embrace their ghoul nature and be granted much power from it.
 

 
As he played amongst the youth and the easily amused, Papa found he craved more power, larger stakes, and more viewers. This would, ultimately, help his cause of converting more foolish mortals to his dear Satan's path. At this point he needed to take on a more professional role and looked overseas, to North America, and the VHLM.
 
Declaring himself for the S78 VHLM Draft, Papa decided on the Saskatoon Wild to become his home team for a short time. Ultimately the Wild would be eliminated easily in the playoffs but Papa proved his worth in his short few games. Any time he was called upon from the bench he allowed no goals and in his few starts he managed well. Certainly not an unbeatable start for the Swede but, alas, time remains on his side. With the draft upcoming soon Papa is likely to find a new home and new mortals to corrupt. It will not take long, he hopes, before all the VHL feels Satan's power and he sits upon his new throne at the head of a sport, rather than a church.

Should We Say Farewell to the Junior Review and Prospect Report?
 
I feel that the VHL community should say goodbye to the Junior Review and Prospect Report. They are the exact same task. They can be done during the same season, and basically require you to write the same things.
Yell at me all you want, but this is just... too easy. I feel the point of earning TPE is you have to earn it. This isn't quite earning it, you are basically just writing the same thing twice for 5 extra uncapped TPE.
This has come to my attention via @GrittyIsKing09's suggestion about more uncapped TPE. Normally, I wouldn't have a problem with uncapped TPE. The only reason I have a problem with this is because these two tasks are the exact same thing. To me, it just makes no sense to have these two seperate. If we combine these two tasks into, let's say, the old Rookie Profile, it would make so much sense. It IS a rookie profile.
The only difference between the two is one asks to list your strengths and weaknesses and the other doesn't. Other than that, they are the same.
All it takes is for one additional paragraph to be added to the Junior Review about your strengths, and you have yourself the Rookie Profile.
 
However, let's take a dive into why it may have been implemented.
It is a nice way for new players to get an easy 10 TPE. It helps boost interest in the VHL, giving new players a reason to keep going. It can help people just, take a break for a week after writing these two.
As @Beketov has said, people were requesting that the career tasks be split up into multiple in order to gain their TPE.
However, splitting into these two was just not the best idea. Perhaps they should keep these two, but lower the TPE or add more to the prospect report.
The prospect report is just a "meh" task. You write down 2 things over 400 words and you have 5 TPE. If you were to keep this, lower it to 2 TPE, because that is about all this is worth.
Or, perhaps, increase the amount of words in each task. Make it somewhere around 700? These are tasks that you can only do once per career, and are uncapped. Why should you work less than a weekly task that is capped?
It just wasn't a good idea. TPE is something that requires effort, you can almost copy and paste (not physically, but in your head) one task onto the other. It just doesn't work well.
 
If we were to combine the two again, it would be better. Add the amount of words you must do, make it worth 6 TPE.
It just isn't worth it to have two seperate tasks. It can be taken advantage of very easily. All a person has to do is write 800 words in an hour and they get 10 TPE.
Now, @Beketov brought up the time constraint. I feel this really does nothing as players have around 2-3 months to complete this task. That really isn't a constraint if you ask me, it may as well be whenever.
The idea of splitting these two up can still work, however only letting a member do one. A member can either choose to write the Propsect Scouting Report or the Junior Review, but not both.
It could be a nice little "Choose Your Path" PT. You can write about your strengths and weaknesses, or you can write about your career beforehand.
 
Another way to look at this is limiting it to one week of joining. You MUST write them in your first week of joining if you want your TPE. This would be a time constraint that people would take notice to.
Now this is a stretch solution, but who knows. Also, if the two tasks were truly divided into seperate tasks to get more TPE for new members, it may lead new members to think that getting uncapped TPE is a regular thing, which may drive members away when they find out that they cannot do these very often. Or, it may lead them to believe that all PTs are this easy, which they aren't.
I am not saying that they are hard, rather they aren't easy. The tasks are still very fun, but the work ethic is what makes them fun. Or, if they are meant to be easy, make them worth 2 uncapped TPE.
The .coms are meant to be a little easier than the main PTs, that is why they are worth so much less than the main PTs. They are meant to be a quick task to whip up.
 
Now, we are going to slowly wrap this up. In review, the two uncapped career tasks of Junior Reviews and Prospect Reports cannot co-exist.
We have looked at multiple solutions for them, and I am sure more people will light me up in replies with more solutions because mine are shit. However, this should hopefully bring attention to the issue.
That is, if you view this as an issue. You may all think I am crazy for trying to remove free TPE, but I stand by what I said. I ask you all reply with your own solutions to fix this.
I also ask that if you do not share this opinion, make it clear WHY you do not share this opinion by explaining why you feel that these two tasks are fine the way they are.
This also brings up a new question, should we eliminate all career tasks? That's an article for another day though, haha.
 
Anyways VHL, thank you for listening to my boring rant and thank you for voicing your opinions. Hopefully you don't just think I am some crazy member, and hopefully you reply with your own thoughts. I do hope that this article has peaked your interest, and with that being said, I am going to wrap up the longest article I have ever written.

how many ways are there to get uncapped tpe every week?
trivia and practice facility, sometimes fantasy zone. i feel like there should be something else, or make the bonuses bigger.

1. Helsinki vs Seattle in finals, who win? - VHL history suggests the Bears, but my gut says Helsinki. We'll see which was right. 
 
2. Did you watch the new serie Shadow and Bone on Netlfix? If yes, is it good? - I haven't... no idea what it even is. 
 
3. What are your thoughts on the Tom Wilson events in the NHL lately? - I love old time hockey, but what Wilson did shouldn't be a part of the game today, and the Department of Player Safety made a horrific lapse in judgement with their decision. In my opinion, he should be done for the rest of the season and playoffs, but it just feels like the Capitals are being thrown a bone here, especially for a guy with a history to get virtually nothing while other guys with no history are getting suspended for far less egregious incidents. 
 
4. @Mistxh J has been named GM of team USA for the WJC, are you gonna cheer for him? - Absolutely!! It's a friend AND he's GMing Team USA, there's no way I couldn't be in his corner for this!!
 
5. Which NHL team has the best mascot? - It's Gritty, hands down. Much love for Youppi as well. 
 
6. What sport do you like to play during summer? - Football and baseball are the way to go for me.

And here I was giving @Mistxh J (or maybe it was @Prout) sage advice on how having a player is a real advantage as a GM. Which I guess it still is, you're all but guaranteed to get him after your Entry Level deal at least. Damn.

It’s okay, you’re allowed to have bad   Trust me, I’m on the BoG now and so all my ideas are automatically bad. The heart’s in the right place though, you just want to be GM first and thats admirable. You don’t want to half ass any of your roles and jeez, it’s hard to stay super active in more than 2-3 LRs at once. It could be nice to just hang up the skates for a bit and eat pooteen in your suit in your suite.
