  1. Fresh off the heels of a whirlwind S79 playoffs with the Malmo Nighthawks that resulted in winning the Continental Cup (along with the Victory Cup in the same season), it is hard to believe that Tui Sova is about to enter his 3rd season in the VHL. Sova made the early jump to Malmo, straight out of the draft. Wasting no time on beginning his career, the early big league development has paid off. With more playoff experience than anyone else in his draft class, Sova is clearly ready to take the reigns as a top player on his team and begin taking on more of a leadership role to help up and coming prospects. Looking at his first two VHL seasons so far, Sova has put up some decent numbers. 86 points in 144 games as a defenceman, along with 276 hits, and 290 blocked shots. More impressive are his playoff numbers, notching 20 points in 29 playoff games. Sova struggled to find the back of the net for much of his rookie season but was able to figure things out once the playoffs arrived, and carried momentum into his second season. Constantly training and practicing, there are still many aspects of his game that he is determined to grow and excel on, but leadership and experience are two that just come with time and mental maturity. Right now, Tui Sova seems committed to his club in Malmo and is seeking a repeat with the club. Still buzzing off the first cup win, he is already thirsty for more hardware. 'My time as a Nighthawk has been nothing short of amazing so far. I love this team and can't envision myself playing anywhere else. I want to keep winning here for years to come, and want to help the young guys coming up. While I've only spent 2 seasons in the league so far I feel like I am apart of something here, and hope to remain a fixture on the blue line. I definitely don't feel like a "veteran" quite yet but am aware of when to step up and be a leader." Personal accolades aren't something Sova speaks on much as he is more of a team first guy, but at this rate he hopes those will come, helping him put another stamp on his career and solidify himself as one of the best Malmo defensemen in franchise history. Still years away from these goals, Sova still has a future to strive for.

  3. Amazing fight Bears! gg's. So happy to have won a cup so quickly in my return to the VHL, and with a great group of guys. Special s/o to our captain @animal74, our 2nd time winning a cup together after a ~60 season gap, ironically as teammates on the Bears way back when. Also big shouts to @hylands, best inactive GM in the league that kept morale high and the team rollin' all season. I'd love for us to maintain this core and go for the repeat next season. #NIGHTHAWKSRISING
  4. yay now I might get my fantasy prediction right
  5. It's gotta be @BOOM. From using a randomizer to sign with Malmo in FA, completely tearing the league up on his new team, and leading us into the finals... I'm def biased but easy vote for me.
  6. C'mon Canada, upgrade last years silver to a gold this year.
  7. This is the best I've seen from you so far for sure! Very cool to have switched up your style a bit using a full body player pic instead of a close up face. The vignette and vintage photo filter works great here, and helps the graphic tell the story and create the feeling of your player at the tail end of his career. Flawless jersey change, and the text works great too with some nice subtext. Overall 9.5/10
  8. Greiss and Marner sigs are your best imo
  9. Malmo, Sweden - Another VHL season, another Malmo Nighthawks playoff run. Currently the Victory Cup winning team is tied 1-1 with the well rounded Warsaw Predators, as they face off in a gruelling conference final. We caught up with defenseman Tui Sova, who is now in his second VHL season, and second playoff run with the Nighthawks. VHL.com: So it’s your second run with the big club, and your team absolutely crushed it in the regular season, how has this playoff run been for you so far? Sova: It’s been quite a ride so far, we know we can’t base too much off of what happens during the regular season as teams always emerge and find that extra gear coming into the playoffs. We’ve been dealing well with adversity, and hope to continue. VHL.com: In your last 2 games against the Predators, your goalie Artem Tretiak got absolutely shelled. How do you guys plan to reduce the number of shots against during the rest of the series? Sova: Yeah this is not something our coach was happy about at all. We have to be tighter down low and get some bodies in front pucks. I think we ran away with the regular season and kinda forgot how to play with grit, but it’s the playoffs now so we have to wake up. VHL.com: You just put up your first pair of points in the playoffs this year with a goal and assist in the first game VS Warsaw, not quite the point pace you displayed in last years run.. any feelings of discouragement in your play right now? Sova: Nah not really, as long as I’m still helping the team win it doesn’t matter if I produce. We have a very strong team up front this year so I’ve been a little more focused on the defensive side. At the end of the day it’s all about getting wins and advancing, not personal stats. VHL.com: Great, thanks for your time and good luck the rest of the way! Sova: Thanks
  10. I now hate this Chris Hylands guy
  11. Cool piece from a GM standpoint providing updates on former players, clearly trading them all away and hitting the reset button in Toronto was not an easy choice, and you still wish the guys well on new teams. Would have liked to see some colours and pics included here, but you went all out with the word count so there is no lack of effort. Overall rating 9.5/10
  12. Great interview summarizing your feelings towards the early out. Reading this made me actually feel bad for a Wranglers player lol. Nice use of red and whites to keep the colors team themed, and excellent photo choice of a player looking dejected, which is definitely the sentiment I perceived while reading this. Overall 9.5/10
  13. Give minion the job for the love of god lol
  14. I'm there twice but take my 2nd submission (thats how it used to go anyway)
