Johnny_HX reacted to Scurvy in European Conference Review Part 1
A little late but today I’d like to review of twoof the European Conference teams as the season starts to take shape.  I have been surprised by a few of the clubs that seemed to be in a rebuilding phase make their way to the top of the standings while teams I assumed were going to be contenders are struggling to start the season.  I know it’s a long season and stuff will happen but here it goes:

    WARSAW PREDATORS:

Ok it’s my team so It will be biased.   The defending Continental Cup Champions bring back a mostly intact team from last year.  They did lose goal scoring phenom Bogdan Trunov @qripllto Malmo but picked up Johnny Xavier @Johnny_HXas a free agent who is a proven goal scorer and Sock Monkey @chiknwas called up after winning a championship in the E.

Up front their led by a Zach Kisslinger @Kisslinger, Brendan Marner @MetalToday, and Vasile Lamb @dlamb who play a nasty nasty game of grit mixed with offense.  They also have the Silent Assassin in Girts Galvins @Girts.  He came alive last playoff and has never taken his foot off the gas.

On Defense, they are led by Hari Singh Nalwa @Dilwho makes us laugh in locker room and puts up massive points on the ice.  Tavish DeGroot @rory and Brian Payne both play a punishing defensive Dman role and love to mix it up. Don’t forget WAR D1 who never speaks but plays with heart.

In goal, Wumbo @Fire Fletcherstops everything and is known to take a penalty of two which I personally love.

Prediction: Continental Cup Champs (again)……. I am biased though, I warned ya

    MALMO NIGHTHAWKS

Not a team I would have picked to be at the top of the standings this year, but they have come out firing!  As I said earlier, they made a great free agent signing in Bogdan Trunov to go along with Igor Molotov @Dom and Donny Carter @TheNeonShaman   As of this writing Igor Molotov is #1 in goals scored (12)

On the blue line, they have Maq Torqq @Stevewho is a TPE earning beast.  They also have S82 draftees Dabnad Shaw @Dabnad and tough guys Jared Carter the 2nd  @jaredc7and Mo Probert @Yahtzee.  I feel bad for forwards who have to play against this defense.  All four of them had a good number of points allotted to BC and Grit so matchups against tough forwards on Warsaw and New York should be fun to see.   Also as of now Mo Probert is #11 in overall scoring (13 points), #2 in SB (36), and a +9.  Not bad for a undrafted rookie D-man playing in a very tough conference.  I am excited to watch his career.

In goal, they have two S81 draftees Boris Tsezar and Thomas Price who look to tandem their way to wins.  I look for them to grow as the season progresses as well.

Prediction:  Playoff bound and plenty of violence which I love.

Secret hope:  A fight filled game against Warsaw SOON!!!

Next week I will cover two-three more clubs in the EU conference.

Johnny_HX got a reaction from dlamb in Xavier's Wild Week Review! Week of September 11th
Welcome to the first ever Johnny Xavier’s Wild Week Review! This is an article that allows Johnny Xavier to see his stats in an orderly fashion, as well as allow him to see the places where he may need to improve. Every week will be reviewed and any momentous moments will be shouted out whenever they may be. That being said, let us get on to the review!

Excited to open the season with his new team, Johnny Xavier has started off quite well, especially compared to his most previous season. Though facing a loss in his opening game against his former team, London United, Xavier was able to get his first point of the season with an assist on the lone goal for Warsaw. It was a nice feeling for him as he feels as though he will be able to help out his team throughout the whole season.

After the first game, Xavier had a streak of pointless games. Xavier realized that he had to change something about his routine, so, after changing his diet and changing his warmup routine, he started to feel a lot better about himself and his game. This process seemed to work, as the game against the New York Americans is where he scored his first ever goal for the Warsaw Predators! This was not only his first goal of the season, but it was also the game winning goal while on the powerplay, being assisted by Brian Payne and Girts Galvins. The excitement that could be seen on Johnny Xavier's face was crystal clear. This goal has sparked something within Johnny Xavier, so let's hope that this is a great sign for his future. That puck is definitely one that Xavier will never get rid of.

This led Xavier to go on a 5 game point streak, making up for his lackluster 3 game pointless streak. He was able to score against the Riga Reign for his second goal of the season and achieve assists in his other games within that streak. Though he failed to score in his most recent game, Xavier is confident that he can keep up his current pace and make a big impact for his team.

Though Johnny Xavier is feeling good about his point production, he does need to work on his defensive side. He is currently a minus-3 which, though not very bad, is not ideal in the eyes of Xavier. He wants to have a strong defensive game, so you can be sure that he will be putting some effort in developing his defensive side of the game. He hopes that the negative quickly becomes a high positive, especially if he is the one scoring the goals.

Thank you everyone for reading if you made it this far. I am hoping to do this weekly, both for enjoyment and to see what Xavier can improve on. One day, Xavier hopes to be seen as an amazing role player who can be trusted in any scenario and, if he is lucky enough, be able to become a leader of his team. Let us hope for a great and productive season!

    Xavier's current stats: 2 goals - 4 assists - 6 points in 10 games

    1. Which team appeared to have improved the most to start Season 85?
It is hard to say, but New York seems to have added some good pieces to their team.
    2. Tanking, is there even a point for such a thing?
Though I understand why teams think about tanking, I do not see any point for it. I feel as though trying your hardest to compete maintains the moral of players, staff, and fans of the team, and even if the team still does not do extremely well there is a chance to get rewarded.
    3. Which team would be the most dangerous obstacle in our Season 85 title defense?
I think Calgary is going to be a dangerous obstacle, but I also have confidence in our team.
    4. How were your S84 predictions?
I truthfully did not have any, but I am excited to make predictions this year.
    5. How do you usually choose for your season predictions?
I typically go based off of the previous season, as well as player age and growth. Also if the player/team is consistent.
    6. How many people did you invite to the game in your first ever VHL game as a player?
So many people. My whole family came and supported me in my first game.

So I was bored and decided to do Josh's job for him.

@VHL GM It's that time again! Please review your rosters to make sure they look good. Sims start on Wednesday evening so make sure you have your lines in well before that. If you don't I will purposely make really bad lines for you.

<Copypasta on how to do lines>
Anyway, you all know the drill by now, GM's are no longer required to email in their lines to submit them. To send in your lines please use the Team Management section of the portal. The process for downloading the client file and using STHS to make your lines is still the same, and if you have manual requests due to waiver pick ups or other roster changes please PM me your notes through Discord.
    <End>

I think that covers it, best of luck everyone. I'll be pinging the VHL Sim Alert role on Discord before each sim so make sure you're signed up for that.

Johnny Xavier, who is currently a proud member of the Warsaw Predators, has had a very interesting career so far. Starting off of his career with San Diego Marlins, Johnny Xavier was entering a league with zero expectations, as well as no idea what fun he was signing up for. Xavier started his career in a place of "peace", a place where he was able to constantly work hard and develop himself as a supporting player of his team. After his first season with the San Diego Marlins, Johnny Xavier was extremely pleased with his performance, scoring 27 goals, 54 assists for 81 points in his first ever season. He took this success and thrived off of it, wishing to continue his development and hope to be a leader of his beloved team.

His second season also showed success, being a point per game player with 72 points, and scoring over 30 goals. Xavier has always seen himself as a "pass first" type of player, but after seeing the goal success he was having, he felt as though he could do anything. Sadly, Xavier and his team just fell short of winning it all, with Xavier scoring 15 points in 13 playoff games, but that experience that Xavier went through raised his confidence and made him excited for his next journey, becoming a player for the VHLE.

Johnny Xavier spent two seasons in the VHLE playing for the Cologne Express, which he loved. His first season felt strong for Xavier, reaching 80 points and scoring 24 goals for his team, as well as scoring 10 points in 11 games during the playoffs. Xavier, continuing his steady development, was only focused on the positive, seeing his success with his team and focusing on how to do better next season. The following season Xavier reached a respectable 82 points and 35 goals, but did not perform well in the playoffs, only scoring 1 point in 4 games. However, Xavier was unbothered, and, after being traded to London United, was excited for his rookie season of the VHL.

This was around the time where Xavier realised that his development would need to take a jump in order to keep up with the other amazing players of this league, but, while dealing with personal issues, he became complacent. Xavier's rookie season with London United was not as positive as Xavier had hoped, only scoring 12 points and 6 goals. Seeing his struggles, Xavier knew something had to be done, so, after overcoming adversity, is attempting once again to raise his development and become a main supporter of his new team, The Warsaw Predators! Xavier is thrilled to be a part of this team and is excited to begin playing with them.

Johnny Xavier would also like to thank everyone who he was played with, worked with, and has showed him continuous support up until now. Xavier refuses to quit and is realising now that the time to show everyone he can do better in now. Let's get the next season started!

Johnny_HX reacted to Scurvy in Warsaw going for back to back Cups
The Warsaw Predators were fairly quiet during the offseason (so far) but have made some critical signings and a loss in their quest to repeat as Champions.  GM Dlamb @dlambhad some difficult and productive conversations with free agent Defenseman, Hari Singh Nalwa.  Nalwa @Dilquarterbacks the Preds defense, consisting of only three guys.  This means Nalwa gets plenty of ice time where he continues to shine on such a great career.  I am sure many teams coveted him in free agency, but he re-signed with the Predators on a one year deal.

However, Warsaw did lose forward Omi Aberg to Prague and Bogdan Trunov to free agency.  To combat the losses the Predators picked up an offensive minded center, Johnny Xavier. @Johnny_HX  Xavier has scored goals at every level and is a welcome addition to the club. Also, with the call up of Bratislava Left Wing Sock Monkey @chikn the Predators have some series scoring potential this coming season and like their chances of competing for another Continental Cup.

    Top Two-Way Forward

Sometimes the two-way specialist uses more brains than brawn when providing defensive coverage. It can be the intangibles - a quick stick, tying up a face-off, a critical clear on a penalty kill - that defines the game of a player who excels at both ends of the ice. The offensive stats of this year’s winner of the Top Two-Way Forward are obvious, but along with being an important cog the league’s second-best penalty kill, it was the lesser noticed numbers that illuminated his defensive acumen: 2nd in faceoffs taken (3096) 4th in faceoffs won (1518), 6th among forwards in hits (191), and T-10th among forwards in blocked shots (30), all while being tied for the league lead in plus/minus (42).

Congratulations, with 7 votes, to Eldon Escobar, your Top Two-Way Forward of Season 83!

    VHLE S83 Pre-Season Power Rankings

    VHLE Power Rankings Introduction

Hello everyone and welcome to the VHLE S83 Pre-Season Power Rankings! I'll be trying to do these every week, or every other week. The first Power Rankings is going to be purely stats based. I mainly took all the averages of the stats, did some calculations, and this is what I ended up coming up with. I'll be going over every team in the VHLE this week and where I think their strengths/weaknesses are, and a couple key players for each of the teams. I'm going to explain how I got some of the calculations first before I end up starting the rankings, so please read below:

Overall Offense Rating: The Overall Offense Rating was calculated taking the "SCO" and "PAS" attributes of every single player on the roster. First, I ended up taking the "SCO" attribute of every player, added them up, and averaged the number. I did the exact same for the "PAS" attribute. I then averaged the two together, and that's how I got the Overall Offense Rating! (SCO OF EVERY PLAYER)/(NUMBER OF PLAYERS) and (PAS OF EVERY PLAYER)/(NUMBER OF PLAYERS). Then (ANS FOR FORMULA 1 + ANS FOR FORMULA 2)/(2).
Overall Defense Rating: The Overall Defense Rating was calculated taking the "DEF" attribute of every single player on the roster. I just ended up taking the "DEF" attribute of every player, added them up, and averaged the number. Since there was only one attribute I took into account, I didn't need to add them together and divide to find the average! (DEF OF EVERY PLAYER)/(NUMBER OF PLAYERS).
Overall Goaltending Rating: The Overall Goaltending Rating was calculated taking the "SZ", "AG", "RB", "SC", "HS", and "RT" attribute of every single goalie on the roster. I could go through on every single attribute how I got them, but I basically just added the averages of the one/two goalies, then added the averages of the ratings together and divided it by the number of attributes, which in this case was 6! That is how I ended up getting the Overall Goaltending Rating! This takes too long to explain, but basically the Overall Offense Rating formula, but for "SZ, AG, RB, SC, HS, RT" and then the answers of those dividing by the number of attributes, which is 6 to get the answer.

If you need a better explanation, as I'm not the best at explaining things, let me know.

Let's finally get to the VHLE Power Rankings, shall we?

    1. Vasteras Iron Eagles

    Overall Offense Rating: 61.35 (1st)
    Overall Defense Rating: 68.5 (1st)
    Overall Goaltending Rating: 73.5 (1st)

Alright, on paper and with the calculations and everything, this team is absolutely stacked. You'd hope the team that had a ton of picks in this draft would be one of the best teams going into the season, and well, they lead every single category. Leading the charge at the forward position is going to be @Grape, joined by @eagle_3450 and @leandrofg who should have fantastic seasons in the E as well. This team has a ton of talent on the offensive front, having a score first mentality and I could see multiple members putting up high goal numbers. As for the defensive side, this team seems to have more defensive defenseman, focusing on protecting the net instead of joining the rush. It's tough to say who will be the leader defensively, as every single one of their defenseman is around the same skill level, but @Spence King has the best defense on the team, at a whopping 80. He'll be backstopping a tough defensive team that'll be hard to enter their zone defensively, and honestly the best defensive core in the league. In between the pipes, they have @Lilpfigher who will be looking to lead this team to success. This team has fantastic goaltending overall and they've got a clear starter and backup. Personally, I expect this team to be a top three team and anything less from this team would be an absolute disaster of a season.

    2. Stockholm Vikings

    Overall Offense Rating: 58.09 (2nd)
    Overall Defense Rating: 59.18 (3rd)
    Overall Goaltending Rating: 73.25 (T-2nd)

Up next on the rankings coming in second place is going to be the Stockholm Vikings. Stockholm has the best scorers in the league, despite their offense rating coming in second. This team is loaded with deadly snipers that given an opportunity, will find the back of the net. Leading the offensive powerhouse is @FBR who is coming off of a 27 goal season, with 79 points. He has a ton of talent joining him, and I can't list them all, as this forward core is absolutely loaded and can give Vasteras a run for their money. On the back-end defensively, and honestly in my eyes, one of the best defenseman in the league is @LuluSalesAway. This player has high defensive capabilities and also can join the rush, a perfect two-way defenseman that the Stockholm Vikings need to help power their offense minded team. In the crease, this team has two solid goalies, @Joker_TM and @Tendy who they'll have to decide which one will be their starter and which one will be their backup. Regardless, having competition is a good thing and Stockholm Vikings should be vying for the top of the league at the end of the season!

    3. Istanbul Red Wolves

    Overall Offense Rating: 56.44 (5th)
    Overall Defense Rating: 60.8 (2nd)
    Overall Goaltending Rating: 70 (7th)

Slotting in the third place spot on the rankings is the Istanbul Red Wolves. It's honestly tough, because the top two teams in my eyes are very far ahead of the pack that it's tough to say who is going to come into third place. Regardless, I'm going to go with the Istanbul Red Wolves. On the offensive front, this team is led by @LeBron Jamezz. Last season, he put up 31 goals and 67 points, having an exceptional season for the Red Wolves. This team also had a ton of picks in the recent draft, and are adding players like @Brandon and @jacobcarson877 on offensive front who should help the team tremendously. Also, one thing I want to point out is @jacobcarson877 build, in which he has 80 defense! He'll be a key piece to the team defensively, which helps me pivot into the next talking point for the team, defense! This team is absolutely loaded defensively, having the second best defense rating in the entire VHLE. The funny thing is, yes, most of the defenseman on this team are somewhat defensively focused, but the forwards are helping out the team defensively too. One player I want to talk about is @der meister, who was drafted 3rd overall and will be helping to protect the net this season. He's a fantastic addition to the team, and it's going to be very hard to find ways to score on this team. Last up, we have the goaltending for Istanbul. You might be thinking, wow, this team is ranked 7th at goaltending, they must not have good goaltending! Let me stop you there. The difference between 1st and 7th on the rating scale is only an average of 3.5 higher in each stat, so even though they are ranked 7th, there are a lot of teams very close in the ratings for goalies. @npuBeT will be the starter this season for the Red Wolves and he'll do a lot of the heavy lifting, as the Wolves will need solid goaltending to be able to go on a run this season. Regardless, this team should be a playoff team and anything less then that is a failure.

    4. Bratislava Watchmen

    Overall Offense Rating: 57.77 (3rd)
    Overall Defense Rating: 59 (4th)
    Overall Goaltending Rating: 70.25 (6th)

Coming in at fourth on the rankings is the Bratislava Watchmen. I honestly could see this team being flip-flopped with the Istanbul Red Wolves, as I think this team is a little bit more well rounded then the Wolves, but the Wolves are more specialized in defense. Moving on though, Bratislava is no slacker when it comes to scoring, as they have multiple players who can put the puck into the back of the net. The best person to do so on this roster is @ng1291, who will be having his rookie season with the Watchmen, so all eyes are going to be on him. He'll also have @Dtayl helping him out, feeding him the puck all day, so we'll see what @ng1291 will be able to achieve this season with the Watchmen. Moving onto defense, this team is around average defensively, however they did pick up @BOOM, who is an absolute steal for the Watchmen in the draft. He was the leading scorer defensively in the VHLM last season, and he'll be looking to continue his dominance here in the E for a season. I think @BOOM is going to be one of the best defenseman in the league offensively, and he'll be helping to aid the team by putting the puck into the back of the net. Last, we have goaltending, which for sure is going to be led by @Donno100. The problem that arises with me for this team, is that their backup is in my eyes, a little bit below average skill wise, so I think @Donno100 is going to do a lot of the heavy lifting for the team. Honestly, I can see this team sliding into the top four very easily and I think a potential run in the playoffs as a dark horse is a very realistic possibility.

    5. Cologne Express

    Overall Offense Rating: 54.47 (7th)
    Overall Defense Rating: 58.78 (5th)
    Overall Goaltending Rating: 70.17 (5th)

Up next on the list, coming in at fifth is the Cologne Express. Honestly, this team seems like a pretty solid middle of the pack team. I feel like to be considered a potential contender this season, you're going to have to take down the Cologne Express, otherwise they'll gatekeep you from doing so. Offensively, this team is a bit lacking though according to the rating system. They have some solid superstar players, in @Johnny_HX and @Komaryk. I will say that personally, I think the rating system does this team dirty, because they have a ton of solid players offensively, and despite being ranked 7th, I feel like their offense is much better then it actually shows. The forwards for this team are fairly good, and they have solid depth, so I really personally don't think the rating offensively is correct for this team. Defensively, I feel like this team has some solid options too. Led by @ColeMrtz, the defensive core this team has put together is pretty solid. One thing I might think that is influence the offense rating, is the fact that this teams defensive core is extremely defensive minded, and they don't have much offense upside. Last, in between the pipes for this team is @Jericho who will be a solid starter, and @NickSunderbruch backing him up. I think this team has a great starter and backup, and in my eyes, this team is extremely underrated in the ratings. I could very well see this team potentially making a run in the playoffs honestly, despite their ratings being a little lower then most teams.

    6. Geneva Rush

    Overall Offense Rating: 57 (4th)
    Overall Defense Rating: 54.3 (7th)
    Overall Goaltending Rating: 73.25 (T-2nd)

Coming in at sixth on the rankings is the Geneva Rush. This team is down lower on the list for a reason, that I'll get to in a bit. First up, we have is the offense, which is sitting ranked at fourth in the league, around average. However, the more I look at this team offensively, it seems they really only have @PoignardLeclerc11 leading the charge, and they seriously lack some firepower in the league. This team has offensive depth, don't get me wrong, but they are lacking some firepower that I personally think will be the reason why they slide a bit further down in the rankings, but this isn't really the teams biggest problem, that's what I'm going to talk about next. Next up, is the teams defense, which is going to be their Achilles heel. This team doesn't have a superstar defenseman, and defensively, a lot of their defenseman have opted for more offensively minded builds, which is why their offense is rated higher. The best defensive minded defenseman they have is @Strider, who is going to have to do a lot of heavy lifting for the team defensively, as teams will find scoring opportunities against the Rush. This team will score a lot of goals, but they're also going to let in a lot of goals. Last, the teams shining bright spot is their goaltending. This team despite having not the best defensive core still has exceptional goalies backstopping them. With probably the best 1A-1B duo in the league, @dustywilson22 and @Thunderidge will be looking to split time this season and attempt to try to carry this team to a potential playoff spot. In my eyes, I don't see this team being a contender, or doing too much this season, but I still think there is a small possibility they make playoffs and make some noise!

    7. Rome Gladiators

    Overall Offense Rating: 55.07 (6th)
    Overall Defense Rating: 52 (8th)
    Overall Goaltending Rating: 70.33 (4th)

Up next on the list is the Rome Gladiators, who slide into seventh place on the rankings. The reason these two teams are at the bottom, Rome Gladiators and Oslo Storm is because they are lacking complete rosters. I ended up not factoring in the bot's attributes in the rating system, otherwise Rome and Oslo would most likely be 7th/8th in every single rating. Regardless, Rome comes in with a very young lineup into the VHLE this season, and I fully expect them to be rebuilding. Offensively, they have a bunch of players who did great in the VHLM, names like @chikn and @NJDevils24. The biggest concern I have with this team offensively, is that they really lack any star player and while they have some depth, they really can't compete with some of the top teams at all and will get out played almost every night. Defensively, this team literally only currently has one rostered defenseman, that being @youloser1337. I guess there's nothing else to talk about on the defensive front, as they only have one defenseman! The best part about this team is their goalie, but again, they currently only have a single goalie on their roster, that being @G_Rush. We'll see what this team has planned for this season and if they can attempt to fill roster spots, but in my eyes this team is going to be at the bottom of the league and will not make it into the playoffs.

    8. Oslo Storm

    Overall Offense Rating: 52.9 (8th)
    Overall Defense Rating: 54.6 (6th)
    Overall Goaltending Rating: 66.67 (8th)

Sadly, someone has to sit at the bottom of the rankings, and coming in at eighth place is the Oslo Storm. Just like the Gladiators, this team doesn't have a full roster, and I must remind you that I didn't factor in the bot's attributes into the rating system. Let's talk about the team that they do have though! Offensively, this team has only four players, one of them being @Crstats23 who is going to be having to produce an absolute godlike season if this team wants to win any games. Again, this team has a couple okay depth players, but they're going to get ran over by almost any team in the league due to not having enough players and having to have bots fill the spaces. Defensively, this team has a singular defenseman in @Thunder, who will be their best defenseman this season without a doubt! I seriously feel bad for some of these players, as they're not going to have a great time this season and unfortunately, they'll just have to try and get through it. In net, they have a singular goalie, that being @InstantRockstar, who actually isn't rated that poorly. He'll have to pull out some Carey Price-like performances if the team wants to be able to find some wins this season. At the end of the day, this team will not be aiming for a playoff spot and I could see them trying to rebuild and attempt to put together a better team next season.

That'll be all folks! I put a ton of time into this and it took me multiple hours to produce this for you guys. I hope this brings some hype to the VHLE season, as I feel like there isn't enough VHLE content out there. Also, before I end this off, just remember that I am a first gen and I don't know much about the history of some of the players or organizations in the VHLE. I am going purely based off of TP and players I've interacted with around the community, so please keep that in mind. Thanks and I hope you guys enjoyed this article!

Johnny_HX reacted to Baby Boomer in The best team I can build in the VHLE
    Hello everyone,

A couple of days ago was the VHLE draft and just after it was the free agency. We now know pretty cleary who is going to be the best players in the league this season. In this media spot I will do the best team of three forwards, two defencemen and one goalie I can possibly do with the players in the VHLE.

    F – Bob Chicoine (GEN) @PoignardLeclerc11

Bob Chicoine is at his first season in the VHLE as he played in the VHLM last season with the Philadelphia Reapers. He did great scoring 31 goals and adding 57 assists for a total of 88 points in 72 games. Chicoine added 4 goals and 12 points in 13 games in the playoffs and the Reapers lost in the semi finals to the Saskatoon Wild who won the Founder’s Cup. Bob Chicoine will definitly be a big part of Rush’s run for a place in the playoffs this season.

    F – Johnny Xavier (COL) @Johnny_HX

Johnny Xavier will begin his second season in the VHLE with the Cologne Express and after losing in the final of the Renaissance Cup to the Rome Gladiators, Johnny and the Express will probably do everything they can to win the Cup this year. In a year where centers are rare and good centers are really really rare, Johnny Xavier will be an incredible asset for Cologne. Last year, Xavier had a record of 24 goals and 56 assists for a total of 80 points in 72 games and 3 goals and 10 points in 11 games in the playoffs.

    F – Bradley Buzzer (BRA) @WereBuzzing

Beginning his second season with the Bratislava Watchmen in the VHLE, the Watchmen and Bradley Buzzer will surely try to go further in the playoffs this season. Buzzer scored an incredible amount of 37 goals and 52 assists for a total of 89 points in 72 games and another 4 points in 5 games in the playoffs.

D - The Loch Ness Monster (STO) @LuluSalesAway

The Loch Ness Monster will begin in S83 his fourth season in the VHLE. He is in the league since the inaugural season in S80 and he always played with the Stockholm Vikings, so we can say that he is probably a big piece in the locker room and on the ice. Since he is with the team, The Lock Ness Monster scored 54 goals and 173 assists for a total of 227 points in 216 games.

    D – Ryuji Sakamoto (IST) @der meister

Ryuji Sakamoto got drafted in the most recent VHL draft by the Toronto Legion and he will probably only play one season in the VHLE before going in the VHL. Sakamoto will bring a lot of offensive and defensive talent on the ice and with the team Istanbul has, they will go for the Cup this year.

    G – Orion D H Chiester IX (BRA) @Donno100

There are not a lot of goalies in the league this year, but Orion D H Chiester IX is obviously and by far the best goalie in the league. Just like The Lock Ness Monster, Chiester IX has been in the league since S80 and is a big presence in Bratislava’s locker room.

"My rebuttal is I don't care."

Welcome to FutureSight. Where I take a look at the biggest steals from past drafts. As the VHL S84 draft concludes, I stand before you with a mirror. To reflect and look back on the absolute steals of the past.

    Rankings

    1. Hulk Hogan 2 (Drafted 6th, ranked 2nd post-draft class) + 4

Hulk Hogan 2 is possibly the biggest steal of the S81 draft, being 1 of 3 players above the 600 TPE mark. Istanbul selected Hogan 1st overall in the VHLE. Seattle probably took this player in the hopes that they would develop to a top 6 talent in a season or two, but might not have expected the explosive start they had this season.

A great point per game player right out of the gates, on top of a solid defensive performance of 156 shots blocked, means that Hulk Hogan will be a Seattle staple for the seasons to come. And with a contract that locks them up for the next four seasons, Seattle knows this will be a starting piece for the future.

    2. Alessio Simeoni (Drafted 60th overall, ranked 35th post-draft class) +25

The most significant jump in terms of value belongs to Simeoni, who, projected at the tail end of the draft, could have been selected mid-table as a serviceable center and has been for the Toronto Legion. Instead, they swiped them up at that 60th spot.

This project hasn’t quite cut the VHL roster yet, but I project to do so in a season or two. Alessio Simeoni has had a back and forth career thus far, from Houston to Saskatoon in the M. Cologne also grabbed him from Oslo.

In the VHLE, Simeoni has an impressive 65 points and 154 hits. This player will undoubtedly be helpful as a depth offensive option in many VHL rosters and might add some grit to a potential playoff run or two. Look at Toronto to keep this player as a future depth piece or some trade bait in the future.

    3. Johnny Xavier (Drafted 35th overall, ranked 21st post-draft class) +14

Johnny Xavier was always going to pan out as a roster player. But I don’t even think the Helsinki Titan, who picked this player in their monster draft, could have predicted the growth of Xavier. Helsinki crushed the 2nd round of the S81 draft.

Xavier hasn’t fully broken into the VHL roster. That isn’t to say Xavier’s development is below the curve. However, the value of a 2nd and 3rd round player is a giant leap. Helsinki can look to end its rebuild soon with numerous great talents.

Cologne got the service of Xavier this past season. Eighty points to round out his European career, with an additional 151 hits, is an absurd stat line for the prospect. However, there’s also an air of clutch with this player. Five GWG with only 24 goals total might be enough to win a game or two in the playoffs, so look to Helsinki to use Xavier as a clutch depth player in future playoff runs.

    4. (Tied) Boris Tsezar (Drafted 41st overall, ranked 20th overall post-draft class) +21 AND
Ed Nu (Drafted 45th overall, ranked 24th overall post-draft class) +21

Now, I know what you’re saying. Goalies aren’t worth that much. They suck. These goalies are on this list because the teams before them didn’t need the goalie prospects. And those are all valuable points.

My rebuttal is I don’t care. Goalies matter.

Davos (Though London picked Tsezar) and New York (Though New York-traded Ed Nu to London for some reason) get two excellent growing goalie prospects that could serve as starting goalies in the future for a couple of seasons. Hopefully, goalies will produce more robust numbers with the end of the scoring era, and their value will increase. As a result, making these picks retroactively much stronger than we give them credit for currently.

Boris Tsezar is a Russian goaltender currently playing for the Rome Gladiators. He put up an incredible .913 SV% and had a solid 31-13 record. Chances are Tsezar gets the call and moves up to the Davos roster next season.

Ed Nu struggled a bit with the Istanbul Red Wolves. A barely above .50% winning record and a reasonably high GAA average might worry some London United fans, wondering if they decided to keep the better of the two goalies. To this, I say don’t worry about it. On a worse team, Nu had one less shutout than Tsezar, with five more minor wins but ten more losses.

Exempt but still noteworthy - Nico Pearce (Drafted 10th overall, ranked 1st) +9

In a vacuum, I would put Pearce first on this list. However, because it’s not a steal because of the GM player selection rules, it’s invalidated. Pearce would have been a shoo-in for that number 1 spot.

Moscow gets to enjoy a star talent, the only player in the class to break 700 TPE and is nearly 100 TPE above Hulk Hogan 2, the next closest player in terms of progression. But, of course, that would be the case had he not been involved in a massive blockbuster trade.

Helsinki gets the best prospect of the S81 draft, but Moscow gets two solid prospects (A 1st and 2nd round prospect) that will undoubtedly amount to a decent return in the long run. While the players have not immediately outperformed Peace on individual levels, they combine for more points, hits, and shots blocked.

    Conclusion

Of course, this is still very early on in their development, and only an actual couple of seasons in the VHL will prove the service of these players. However, I wish good luck to them all in their future VHL careers as they show you don’t necessarily need to be a 1st round pick to add value to a team.

With the S83 draft finished, we can only assume that more players like these will come out of the woodwork in time. I hope they get the appreciation they deserve for their hard work and TPE grind, even if it may only be a welfare and practice facility for some.

Every piece of effort counts. Thank you, Kings.

Johnny_HX reacted to BarzalGoat in The Express Gazette (Volume VII): A Championship Dream, still a dream, and TEAM SUPERLATIVES
Welcome to the latest addition of the league's most popular, irregularly posted, VHLE GM written column! This edition starts on a somber term where I finally address the reverse sweep we suffered at the hands of my now mortal enemy @InstantRockstarand the Rome Gladiators. I gotta be honest, this one hurt, and a lot more than the S61 Yukon collapse that some might remember. This was a great, active group, and we all were very invested in this season. We started off the playoffs winning 7 in a row, only to drop 4 consecutive games, and with that the Renaissance cup. Some times you can have all the right players, all the right strategies, and the sim engine just chooses that it's not your season, and that's what happened to us. We should be able to bring the core back for one final run, and I'm grateful to the people who make that possible, and I'll give it my 110% again for them.

    Superlatives:
I like doing superlatives instead of awards, it really gives a chance to shine for some of the role players who might not have won an award, I'm sure my players will win real awards anyway, so this is just for us.

    1. I always feel as though our chances are high. I have a lot of confidence in this team.
    2. I do. Just because a team is seen as "elite" on paper doesn't mean they will perform to that same ability. Looking at an example from the NHL, nobody would have claimed the the Montreal Canadiens were a Stanley Cup finalist level team, but they made it.
    3. It would mean everything to win gold for team Canada. We all work hard and deserve this.
    4. I say thank you way too much.
    5. Just do what you always do. You made it here by playing your way, so don't stress out about playing any specific way. Just go out there and try your hardest.
    6. I am a bit confused, but also excited at the same time. I will have to pay extra attention for the next few weeks so I know what's going on.
