  1. I can also appreciate your avatar @Hybrid1486
  2. I wonder if it has anything to do with the "don't spam comments" approach. I'm pretty sure in the past, we had encouraged people to upvote and post a comment.
  3. Welcome! @Spade18 is a good fellow indeed
  4. When Davos last won the Continental Cup, the franchise had the most championships in league history with nine. That was back in Season 38. At that time, the Helsinki Titans had five Cups in franchise history. With their Cup last season, Helsinki became the first team to reach ten championships. Davos does remain alone in second, but if the Wranglers win Game 7, Calgary would even that number. It's actually quite remarkable that Calgary and Davos are still two of the most winningest teams. While Davos' drought is the longest among active franchises, Calgary is not actually too far behind. Their last championship was in S44. Since then, New York, Toronto, and Riga have all won three Continental Cups. Those three teams all sit at seven championships, so the futility of Davos and Calgary as merely allowed them to nearly catch up. Seattle is another team who was once the light of the league but have not been great in recent years, though they did win just two seasons ago. Still, the Bears had four championship victories in their first 17 seasons and have won just three in the 44 seasons since. That brings their total to seven as well. Personally, I'm rooting for Davos in Game 7. I have an extensive history with the franchise, so they are a team that I will typically root for over most others. GO DAVOS
  5. The draft lottery may have not been in favor of the Meute, staying at fourth overall, but the results of the semi-finals could not have gone any better as far as their draft position is concerned. After defeating Quebec in the first round of the playoffs, the New York Americans went on to face the Calgary Wranglers. A personal favorite team of mine, I would not have minded seeing New York beat Calgary in this series. The Americans fell quickly into a 1-3 deficit in the series, but they managed to claw back to bring things to a Game 7. In the end, Calgary did win the series. For Quebec, this was a fantastic result, as they hold New York's first and second round picks in the upcoming draft. Quebec acquired New York's S62 1st Round Pick in the David Kiaskov trade this past off-season. The Americans were looking for more help during the season, and the Meute obliged, sending Lavar Ball to New York to acquire their S62 2nd Round Pick. Thanks to New York's exit in the semi-finals, these picks will be 5th and 13th overall. In the other semi-final matchup, Helsinki was pitted against Davos. The Titans lead the series 3-1 after four games, just like the Wranglers did. However, the Titans blew their lead, losing three straight games. While Quebec didn't have as much riding on this series as the other one, it was a nice treat for them to see Davos come out victorious, as they hold Helsinki's S62 2nd Round Pick. (Additionally, Davos is my second favorite franchise, so I'm certainly rooting for them to win the upcoming Game 7 against Calgary!) Quebec acquired this pick last season in a deal for veteran Lukas Muller. The Titans ended up winning the Cup last season, so it's hard to say the deal didn't work out for them, but Quebec is certainly happy to have gotten a second round pick in what looks to be a good draft for a rental player. While the best case scenario would have Quebec picking first, things at least didn't go as poorly as possible for them. Whether or not they hold onto all of their picks come draft time is another matter, but for now they hold five picks that could become active players. Here is the list of the S62 picks they have for the first two rounds. QUE 1st (4th overall) NYA 1st (5th overall) QUE 2nd (12th overall) NYA 2nd (13th overall) HSK 2nd (14th overall) Although Quebec finished closer to the bottom teams than the top of the pack, they are a team on the rise looking to become competitive possibly as early as next season. That being said, they may look to trade some number of these draft picks in order to acquire some veteran talent. While the 4th and 5th overall picks might be able to acquire VHL-ready players, those three second rounders would more likely be prospects that wouldn't take a season or two of development before they could make an impact. Quebec's core is still very young, though, so they aren't necessarily in a rush to make things happen. They could very well hold on to these picks and look to develop players for the future rather than try to trade for players. It could simply be a matter of what's out there. If they find a good deal for one or more of those picks, they may go ahead and make it. If they don't, that's not an issue. They shouldn't try to force a trade either way. As Quebec's youngsters continue to develop, the S62 Entry Draft could hold some more hope for the franchise that is hungry for a cup. The picks are there, now it's on management to make good use of them one way or another.
  6. I don't think that's true. If Seattle won the lottery, there'd be a draw for second. And if Seattle and Toronto get 1st and 2nd, there'd be a draw for third. Or am I mistaken?
  7. This is the worst birthday present ever. Not only do I not like it, but it's not even remotely close to my birthday.

  11. Tbh I definitely prefer updating on the forum, though overall I recognize the advantage of using the portal for updating so I think it's better this way. With the portal updating, though, I just more consistently feel like I'm forgetting things.
  12. https://www57.zippyshare.com/v/AIG2sAif/file.html I look at my award predictions and talk about possible award winners to see how I may do. weeeeeee
  13. Calgary scored 14 seconds into one of those penalties though so you weren't actually in the box for ten minutes.
  14. Gabriel McAllister of the HC Davos Dynamo is currently at 95 points, putting him 8th in the league. This is lower than you might expect, after seeing him finish first in the league with 120 points last season. Despite this decrease in output, he still has to be considered one of the top candidates for the Scotty Campbell Trophy. McAllister is hands down the best player on the third place Dynamo. After McAllister, the next highest in points is The Charm with 75, and their goaltender Shawn Brodeur is the worst among the top four teams. McAllister definitely has less help than any other MVP candidate, yet Davos still sits at 101 points, just two points behind the league-leading Wranglers. McAllister brings more to the table than just his offense. He has the most hits in the league by far, setting a new single-season record (he currently has 443 with three games left to play). In looking at who might be his biggest competition, I want to look at each of the other top four teams and determine who I think was their most valuable player. New York is probably the easiest to judge, with the honor going to Chase Keller. Helsinki has the top three goal scorers, so how do you pick? I'll just go with defenseman Ay Ay Ron, who leads the league in assists while also being a great defensive player. For the Wranglers, how about we say the league's best goalie, Brady Stopko.
  15. the Halifax Commissioners haha get it
