The Vladimir Boomchenko Trophy is awarded to the player that leads the VHLM in assists, and stop me if you’ve heard this before, but the frontrunners were once again two teammates from the city of brotherly love who were in a class of their own this season. Logan Ninefingers and Caring Bear were the only two players in the VHLM to record over 80 assists, an amount that has not been seen in the league since Season 87. Ninefingers’ 88 assists are the most since Season 81, but yet again, it’s not enough to bring home the hardware. Caring Bear recorded an absurd 97 assists, easily leading the VHLM, and the most since Finn Davis recorded an absurd 119 assists in Season 80, cementing a remarkable season for Caring Bear.

Congratulations to Caring Bear on winning the Vladimir Boomchenko Trophy!

The Alexander Chershenko Trophy is awarded annually to the player who leads the VHLM in goals, and this season we had a two horse race between two Philadelphia teammates! Caring Bear and Logan Ninefingers were in a class of their own this season, the only two players who scored over not only 50 goals, but 60 goals as well! Logan Ninefingers’ 64 goals were enough to win the award the past three seasons, but not this season, as Caring Bear scored a nice 69 goals! It’s the highest amount of goals scored in a single season since Igor Molotov’s 72 nearly ten seasons ago in Season 82, a truly impressive feat indeed!

Congratulations to Caring Bear, the Alexander Chershenko Trophy winner of Season 91!

The Skylar Rift Trophy is awarded annually to the player deemed to be the most valuable player of the VHLM Playoffs, and after recapping Saskatoon’s run to the championship, now is as good of a time as we’ll have to crown our playoff MVP! Four players made the ballot for this award:

    Toddly Bobbly (SSK) - 17 GP, 12-3-2, .928 SV%, 1.77 GAA, 3 SO

Toddly Bobbly was, quite simply, electric in net for the Saskatoon Wild. He was consistently a brick wall that kept the eventual Founder’s Cup Champions in the game, and three of his 12 wins came by shutouts. It was a dominant postseason for Bobbly.

    Joseph Jec (SSK) - 17 GP, 9 G, 14 A, 23 P, +8, 24 PIM, 40 HIT, 4 SB

When the Wild needed a big play, chances are it involved Joseph Jec. His 23 points led the team in points during the postseason, with nine goals among them. His defense was also outstanding, with a +8 rating and delivering 40 hits, doing his part in both ends of the ice.

    Vladimir Kozlov (SSK) - 17 GP, 7 G, 15 A, 22 P, +7, 16 PIM, 41 HIT, 35 SB

Time and time again, Vladimir Kozlov delivered when the Saskatoon Wild needed him. He blocked 35 shots, delivered 41 hits, and was just as prolific offensively, including the Founder’s Cup-winning goal in the final seconds of the decisive Game Five.

    Logan Ninefingers (PHI) - 15 GP, 12 G, 11 A, 23 P, +1, 10 PIM, 50 HIT, 13 SB

Although the Reapers fell short in the end, it certainly wasn’t any fault of Ninefingers’. Scoring nearly a goal-per-game and 23 points in total, along with a staggering 50 hits, he was a huge reason that Philadelphia made it to the finals in the first place.

The winner of the Skylar Rift Trophy as the MVP of the Season 88 VHLM Playoffs is…

When you win the Prime Minister’s Cup, the expectation is that you also bring home the Founder’s Cup and begin your reign as the VHLM Champions, and the Saskatoon Wild did not disappoint. They were able to defeat the San Diego Marlins with relative ease in the opening round, with two of their victories shutouts courtesy of Toddly Bobbly in net. The Houston Bulls, however, were determined to take down the Prime Minister’s Cup winners, and led the series 3-2 after Game Five. However, the Wild clawed back, and emerged victorious in Game Seven with Alexandros Mograine providing the series-winning goal late in the third period. The Philadelphia Reapers awaited them in the Founder’s Cup Finals, but they proved to not match up with the Wild as well as Houston did. Their high-flying offense was relatively held in check by Saskatoon’s staunch defense, with their own offense getting the job done. The Reapers only managed to win one game before the Saskatoon Wild became the champions of the VHLM with a 4-3 win in Game Five in front of their dedicated fans, as Vladimir Kozlov scored the cup-winning goal with less than 30 seconds left to play in the third period.

Congratulations to @Berocka, @Dadam30, and the Saskatoon Wild on winning the Founder's Cup!!

The Jack Reilly Trophy is awarded annually to the top general manager in the VHLM, which really understates what it truly means to be the best general manager in the VHLM. There’s simply so much that goes into this job, to the point it is one of the most important roles in the VHL as a whole. Working with first-generation members is vital to the continued survival of the league as their first introduction to it. The bonds formed between VHLM GMs and their players is a strong one, any member of the VHL could tell you who who their first VHLM GM was. On top of that, there’s also the competitive element of the league, as VHLM GMs must also manage their players to guide them to develop and produce, which is no small task. Tonight, we recognize those who have

This season, we have three candidates nomiated for this prestigious award: Berocka, who constructed a deadly juggernaut in the Saskatoon Wild that went on to become the Founder’s Cup Champions; McLovin, whose Las Vegas Aces lived up to their strong traditions and were amongst the league’s best; and STZ, who built a defensive powerhouse with the Houston Bulls.

First, we’ll start off with formally presenting the Prime Minister’s Cup, which is awarded to the VHLM team with the best regular season record. Five teams finished with more than 100 points this season, but there was one that stood above the rest: the Saskatoon Wild, whose 56-11-5 record and 117 points were more than enough to best the runner-up Houston Bulls’ 108 points. Boasting a high-scoring offense and a stout defense that was just as skilled as keeping the puck out of their net as their offense was at scoring. The Wild possessed talent everywhere on their roster, and as a result, they proved to be the top team in the VHLM at the end of the regular season.

Congratulations to @Berocka, @Dadam30, and the Saskatoon Wild on winning the Prime Minister's Cup!!

Good evening everyone and welcome to the Season 91 VHLM Awards Show! It’s time to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of the VHL’s next star players, and I’m quite confident that some of the players we’re honoring tonight will be household names in no short order.

That being said, success in the VHLM does not necessarily translate into being successful at the professional level. This is, after all, a league centered around development, which is the true goal of any VHLM general manager worth their salt. However, this is the first taste of competition for aspiring VHL prospects, and the first look that VHL scouts and fans get at these highly touted prospects. Tonight, we’ll give the spotlight to these young players that shined the brightest in Season 91!

The Benoit Devereux Trophy is awarded to the top goaltender in the VHLM, and what better way to start your VHL career than winning an award that bears the name of a Hall of Fame goalie? Our four nominees were the premiere netminders of the VHLM, but this award would really cap off their season in style:

    Toddly Bobbly (SSK) - 56-11-5, 0.926 SV%, 1.76 GAA, 9 SO

The netminder for the Founder’s Cup champion Saskatoon Wild, Bobbly was consistently a strong presence in net for Saskatoon, with a sub-2 GAA and nine shutouts.

    Pierre-luc Dutil (MIS) - 35-30-7, 0.915 SV%, 2.34 GAA, 9 SO

Simply put, Dutil kept the Mississauga Hounds in games all season and elevated them to a position they would not have been without him. A season to be proud of for sure.

    Pipo Popa (HOU) - 52-16-4, 0.933 SV%, 1.44 GAA, 22 SO

Popa was simply impenetrable this season, posting an utterly dominant season highlighted by an absurd 22 shutouts, the likes of which hasn’t been seen for decades.

    Amir Redzic (PHI) - 47-18-7, 0.917 SV%, 2.30 GAA, 6 SO

Backstopping the runner-up Philadelphia Reapers, Redzic gave his dynamic offense a strong cushion to work with all season long.

    Your winner, by unanimous decision…

The VHL magazine forum has been hidden for a while which seems a shame as that was a pretty big part of the VHL back in the day - so influential it even got its own 20 in 20 article and ended up with 340 editions up to late 2017 (+4 in an aborted 2018 revival). So I've decided to stick them in the publicly available VHL history forum today.

You can see what they looked like from edition 328 to 340 as the rest seem to have been destroyed by Dropbox - unless @STZ has them stored away somewhere.

In case, they can not be resurrected, I have also brought back the Articles Submissions forum which has all the raw copies. Regardless if they don't look pretty and in mag format I think it's right for them to be in the public domain as this is a fair few years of articles from some of the VHL's best writers which would otherwise be in the Media Spot archive.

In a similar vein, the VHLM magazine submissions are also now in the HOF (I don't think any of the actual magazines can be retrieved): https://vhlforum.com/forum/51-vhlm-magazine/ That ran for about 3 years and 100 editions in the previous golden age of the VHL/M.

Doomsday reacted to Gustav in It's Not a Lie If You Believe It: The Art Vandelay Story
    "What-delay Industries?"

No one wanted latex. And worse, no one even wanted any latex-related goods.

Art Vandelay's small business was challenged from the start when he tried to set it up in Manhattan--it's a perfect place to be an importer-exporter, of course, but not when no one there wants your imports and no one elsewhere wants your exports. He'd tried it all--it's hard to be an architect when everyone else wants to shape New York's skyline too, and it's hard to make it in the Yankees' front offices when George Steinbrenner wants to give your job security the old Billy Martin treatment. It's the City That Never Sleeps because everyone wants to beat everyone else, and when everyone else is working around the clock, you have to do it too.

The trouble is, Art Vandelay wasn't very interested in that, not to mention again that no one wanted latex or latex-related goods. The stock market in New York is as chaotic as it is because it's unpredictable, and sometimes the investment just isn't one that works. Vandelay Industries, as a hopefully-diversified import-export business, had taken a turn for the worse and sunk its entire investment into a bear market (at least, I think that's what it's called. I try not to care too much).

So, how do you dig yourself out of a hole and not work as hard as the others? Vandelay hadn't shut down his business yet, but you can't fail at making ends meet for too long in the Big Apple.

A screenshot from Art Vandelay's OnlyFans page.

And yes, some of his methods could have upset the more pure-hearted among us. Something OnlyFans-adjacent (for some people, I suppose) was a gig as a hand model after random encounter as a talent manager, and this paid off quite well (did you know that some hand models make close to $100k a year?) until...

Vandelay is, um, "misidentified" on live TV.

Yes, hand models can serve as hand doubles for famous actors (for some stupid reason), and where actors go, so does the press. And where the press goes...sometimes confusion goes, too. It's a long story, but Art Vandelay being labeled on TV as, let's just say, someone other than Art Vandelay, also created confusion at work. And that confusion at work spilled over into a loss of a job, and it was back to square one. Latex and latex-related goods. Which, again, no one cared about--despite its prominent use on Vandelay's OnlyFans.

But thinking a lot about latex and hands got Vandelay thinking even more. Latex gloves are a thing, of course, but what about latex-related goods and gloves? It's no secret to anyone here that New York has one of the world's most storied sports scenes. From Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig to Jeter and A-Rod, it's been much more than just a big city with a lot of people. It's been a culture. But with bridges burned between Vandelay and Steinbrenner, it couldn't exactly be Jeter and A-Rod and Vandelay, and some of the other sports were sort of taken out of the picture. There aren't many latex-related goods in basketball, and all the latex-related goods in football had already been coated directly onto OBJ's gloves. But which sport has the highest concentration of plastics and polymers and other synthetic materials anyway? You guessed it--hockey. And which position in hockey has more of those than any other? You guessed it again.

The import-export business suddenly became a major play for Vandelay again when he used his latex-related connections to start exporting the raw materials and importing the finished product. Vandelay Industries goalie pads were just as good as anyone else's, as their creator was certain, but this needed to be proven. But, with only three or so connections in Manhattan, none of which had extensive hockey experience, he had to take matters into his own hands.

From the start, Vandelay was a natural in net. He outplayed the rest of the beer leagues for a while, but having aged out of the typical places where scouting is done, he figured that would be all it ever went. He was about ready to give up on the hockey equipment business...until he showed up at a higher-level matchup doing his best to interest the teams in a Vandelay Industries glove. As luck would have it, injuries called for an emergency replacement, and who better to be the replacement than the guy who brought his own glove? Vandelay stepped in and killed it.

(As a note: please click that last link if you've made it this far. I had no idea that existed until now and it makes me so happy that it retroactively makes sense that Vandelay is a VHL goaler)

As luck would further have it, VHL scouts were present. There were none from New York, so he would have to move, and after four wins in Ottawa in S82, he'd move down to Florida in S83, right into the gated community of Del Boca Vista. He'd be in the pool, he'd be in the clubhouse, he'd be all over that shuffleboard court--and he'd dare the VHL to keep him out.

    And you know the rest.

I'm going to tag @Doomsday because real recognizes real and I think this will be appreciated. I did not think I'd (sort of) ever write Seinfeld fan fiction, but here we are and it was kind of fun.

Doomsday reacted to Daniel Janser in C.G.Y. Janser the prankster
So father and son are reunited in the ProAM tournament, dressing for Santa's Naughty Elves. Both players are practical jokers and made the SNE locker room a wary but also fun environment as no-one is safe from their shenanigans. Most of the time though, they are the target of the respective other's pranks. One day there is shaving soap in the skates of one, the next day the sleeves of the other's jersey are sewn shut.
With all their lightheartedness though, the Jansers are all business once they enter the rink. Daniel once more proves that he was one of the best centers in the modern era and Callum shoulders a lot of ice time and defensive responsibility alongside the more gifted PEB and YaBoi Oven. The Elves had a rocky start but after some time spent to gel properly they managed to catch up and are seated in the middle of the standings.

Possessing an absurd six first round selections in this draft, Frank Chadwick wastes no time grabbing the consensus top prospect in the draft. Ninefingers scored the most points by any VHLM player since Igor Molotov in Season 82, and on top of that offensive prowess is a dominant physical game. If Vancouver wants or needs him in the pros this season, there is no doubt that Ninefingers is VHL-ready already. Simply put, Logan Ninefingers is an elite prospect that is the perfect choice to kick off the rebuild in Vancouver, and he'll be a star for the Wolves in no time.                                             2 Moscow Menace     George Richmond @badcolethetitan                         C   TPE: 370                                     Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S91 Regular Season 72 46 55 101 44 443 37 129 47                             S91 Playoffs 10 8 10 18 8 64 6 23 10                             Euron Leonidas and the Moscow Menace were content to rebuild while seemingly the rest of the European Conference went all-in to compete, and now they reap the benefits of that decision. Moscow has a talented roster, but they are in good shape defensively, allowing them to grab a top forward prospect in George Richmond. While the center didn't have the crazy numbers that Logan Ninefingers did, Richmond still put up 101 points with the Ottawa Lynx, showing he's no slouch either. Moscow doesn't necessarily need to rush him onto the pro roster, but should they choose to call him up, Richmond will be able to hold his own with his development thus far. Moscow's future is already bright, and adding a prospect like George Richmond on top of that is huge.                                             3 Moscow Menace     Adi Dassler @BOOM                         LW   TPE: 302                                     Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S91 Regular Season 72 43 40 83 52 416 34 105 43                             S91 Playoffs 17 8 8 16 11 77 4 22 0                             What's better than getting a top prospect like George Richmond? How about making another selection immediately afterwards? The rich get richer in Moscow, although if they keep this selection, we believe they'll go a bit off the board for third overall in Adi Dassler. A member of the Founder's Cup champion Saskatoon Wild, Dassler showed that he is a major threat to score goals, potting 43 last season. Many pundits have Riley Martin ranked higher than Dassler, but for Euron Leonidas, familiarity with BOOM makes up the difference here, as they bring back a locker room favorite on top of another quality forwards prospect. I would not be surprised at all to see Moscow trade this pick, as the top defenseman prospects remain on the board and they could still select Dassler later on. But if they stay here, Dassler is their guy.                                             4 Vancouver Wolves     Vanellope von Schweetz @Arce                         D   TPE: 322                                     Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S91 Regular Season 72 15 64 79 52 202 20 77 94                             S91 Playoffs 13 1 7 8 0 34 2 22 21                             Vancouver selects the top forward prospect in Logan Ninefingers first overall, and at fourth overall they get the top defenseman prospect in Vanellope von Schweetz, and Frank Chadwick's rebuild could not be off to a better start. von Schweetz's size at 5'5, 150 lbs is a big concern for some scouts, and physical play simply is not part of her game. However, her instincts and positioning in both ends of the ice is excellent for a young blueliner, and her offensive potential could put her in line to quarterback the Vancouver power play for years to come. Teams will certainly be on the phone with Moscow to try to trade up to third overall to take von Schweetz, but if Moscow stays put, there's little doubt that Frank Chadwick doesn't immediately select her at fourth overall.                                             5 Seattle Bears     Vlad Von Carstein @Dom                         D   TPE: 315                                     Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S91 Regular Season 72 20 61 82 36 214 60 154 130                             S91 Playoffs 10 3 9 12 0 28 4 26 18                             Seattle begin their rebuild selecting Vlad Von Carstein, the new player from a veteran agency. The key to a successful rebuild is building from the back, and with goaltenders being slim pickings in this class, Seattle elects to take a defender here, who is projected to be able to lead a team's offense from the back end. Putting up 20 goals last season, and bringing a boatload of assists along with that bodes well for a team planning on getting themselves back on top of the North American conference as soon as possible. Von Carstein will have to really pan out here however, as their top competition, the Vancouver Wolves, will be selecting many time here in this first round, including 2 picks already here by pick 5.                                             6 Vancouver Wolves     Riley Martin @Smarch                         RW   TPE: 344                                     Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S91 Regular Season 72 26 22 48 -33 211 64 175 147                             S91 Playoffs N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A                             Returning back to the forefront of the VHL prospect pool, this veteran agency returns with a 2-way talent, capable of potting goals, and also being a defensive player on the way back. This is a bit of a porject pick, with the player having been in a tough situation last season, being scored on significanlty more than they scored themselves. A player like this should never have been put in the position to block as many pucks as they did. This is a player that the Vancouver scouts believe outplayed their situation, and we will have to see if they are correct there. This is a player that works hard and can be a valuable piece paired with any number of their other top picks here.                                             7 Vancouver Wolves     Guntis Gavilrovs @Girts                         D   TPE: 286                                     Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S91 Regular Season 72 27 43 70 42 193 44 187 79                             S91 Playoffs 13 3 9 12 3 28 30 44 23                             Another pick up here from a veteran agency for the Vancouver Wolves, and their last pick for a while in this loaded first round. Gavrilovs will be an important piece alongside von Schweetz and Slater, solidifying a back end for the foreseeable future. This versatile defender is a goal-hound, and has been able to outscore their opponents all season long. They also put together a great playoff showing in 13 games, showing great progression as the season cycle went along. Look for this player to grow exponentially in the VHLE, and round out their game to the VHL level. They'll be looking to find some synergy with their future partners, and find their role for the Wolves over term.                                             8 Chicago Phoenix     DB IV @wcats                         D   TPE: 210                                     Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S91 Regular Season 72 21 39 60 24 188 60 181 89                             S91 Playoffs 13 0 7 7 0 32 18 45 19                             Chicago has been led from the back for the majority of their history. From legendary golatenders to defenders, the Phoenix have always prided themselves in carrying a lot of respect for their defensive game. With the Board Game Clue on Skates and Bo Johansson hanging up the skates, and Chicago having a fairytale run from longtime forward Scotty Sundin before their eventual retirement, it is time to return to their roots, and enter a familiar ground once more. DB IV is a strong 2-way defender, capable of being a stable member of the Phoenix lineup through thick and thin. While Chicago may miss out on starpower this draft, they will secure at least one piece here that they can rely on to support the starpower once it arrives. DB IV is familiar with the team and management, and should reitre a Phoenix one day.                                             9 Riga Reign     Karol Lamb @dlamb                         D   TPE: 232                                     Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S91 Regular Season 72 10 54 64 51 157 74 229 151                             S91 Playoffs 17 1 9 10 7 54 14 28 29                             After a wild season where Riga nearly took the top position in the EU Conference, they look to add a significant piece to their team. While they have a forward group mixed with aging forwards and younger prospects along with a young franchise goalie in Red Panda, their defensive group only has 3 young players without any clear additions in their prospect pool. With Karol Lamb sitting here at 9th overall, Riga wouldn't dare to pass up on adding this big of a defensive prospect to their pool. Putting up 64 points with Saskatoon this past season in the VHLM, Lamb has already shown their ability to produce on the ice. They would absolutely help form a significant blue line presence in the future with Mina on the first pairing.                                             10 Malmo Nighthawks     Kimi Raikkonen @mattyIceman                         LW   TPE: 259                                     Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S91 Regular Season 72 19 40 59 44 274 39 161 18                             S91 Playoffs 13 1 5 6 0 39 10 32 2                             Malmo has a competitive roster, but cracks are beginning to show. They don't have a whole lot of prospects in tow and their star forwards are beginning to age. Goaltending is still strong and a backup is waiting in the wings for now. With a solid defensive group though, they'll look to add the best overall forward they can here with Kimi Raikkonen. Playing with Houston, Kimi put up a respectable 59 points last season. More impressively though was their final stat line of a +/- of 44. Heralding a great two way presence on the ice, Raikkonen should bring a great addition to the Nighthawks in the next few seasons.                                             11 New York Americans     Jeffrey Howard Dewberry Kalin @Motzaburger                         RW   TPE: 187                                     Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S91 Regular Season 72 30 36 66 22 370 28 112 26                             S91 Playoffs 5 3 1 4 -7 26 8 3 1                             New York is in the midst of a rebuild. They've made some significant additions in the offseason and signed their big names to new contracts. With the 11th overall pick, they'll look to add more future pieces to fit their timeline of competitiveness. Enter Jeffrey Howard Dewberry Kalin, a great young goalscorer who will bring a big boost to the second line right when they'll need it. Playing with Las Vegas and Miami this past season in the VHLM, they continued to play at the same productive level even when switching teams. New York should be thrilled to grab Kalin here as they prepare to compete in the near future.                                             12 Vancouver Wolves     Wayne Gretzky @MubbleFubbles                         C   TPE: 30                                     Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     S91 Regular Season N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A                             S91 Playoffs N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A                             Now things get very interesting here. Vancounver has their goaltender of the future already in Vidarsson. They just selected 2 forwards and 2 defensemen in this draft and should be set for the future with significant star power. What better place to take a flyer of a pick and reach down to grab the fantastically named Wayne Gretzky? While broken bones and significant accidents have hampered Wayne Gretzky's rise to hockey stardom, they have vowed to return to significant play ability in the coming future. It's a gamble to be sure, but one that Vancouver would be absolutely comfortable to make. And make no mistake, this could be a home run of a pick if Wayne Gretzky becomes the next big name in the VHL.                                             13 London United     Giorgiy Constanzov @Mongoose87                           G TPE: 286                                   Season GP W L OTL SV% GAA SO GA SA     Season 91 - Regular Season 72 10 57 5 0.918 3.19 1 231 2815                                                                             London is in an interesting spot right now, their top players all retire in the next couple seasons, and they are in a great spot to compete right now. Specifically, Jesse Teno is set to retire in 2 seasons, which will leave a massive void in goal. That is where Giorgiy Constanov comes in, while the starting goaltender for Halifax didn't have the most wins last season that was through no fault of their own as they had the 3rd best SV% in the VHLM with a 0.918! Constanzov would fill the void left by Teno perfectly, and with some development could prove to be a top VHL goaltender in no time at all.                                             14 Moscow Menace     Olafur Gunnleifsson @JartY                           G TPE: 207                                   Season GP W L OTL SV% GAA SO GA SA     Season 91 - Regular Season 52 33 14 4 0.905 2.29 4 117 1228                             Season 91 - Playoffs 10 5 3 2 0.877 3.33 0 32 260                             We're in a weird spot right now, where the teams that need goalies for the future, just don't have the picks to take high earning goalies right now. That's why we see goalies dropping in this draft. The main question here for Moscow is while you do have a elite goalie for the future already, can you pass up another one in the current market? The answer to that question is no. For that reason we've got Moscow selecting Gunnleifsson 14th overall. Coming off of a solid first season in the VHLM, they posted great numbers from their first few games on, and were very consistent for the most part. Despite being a late 1st round pick Gunnleifsson has a very high ceiling and could potentially challenge for a top goaltending spot down the road.                                             15 Vancouver Wolves     Petit Hughie @Sen                           D TPE: 163                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     Season 91 - Regular Season 72 13 70 83 -9 162 66 219 157                             Season 91 - Playoffs 5 1 4 5 -8 16 18 18 12                             Vancouver's 6th and final pick of the 1st round could be an interesting one, as the draft starts to tail off a bit there isn't many options left. However, Petit Hughie could very well be a hidden gem, they have been consistently improving and had a massive season in the VHLM for Miami. The young defensmen put up a ridiculous 70 assists last season for a total of 83 points last season, and looks to take another step forward in S92. Hughie projects as a solid 2nd pair defensemen, and could exceed expectations if their development improves.                                             16 Toronto Legion     Dwight Shcrute @Jamomayo                           LW TPE: 150                                   Season GP G A P (+/-) SHT PIM HITS SB     Season 91 - Regular Season 32 3 7 10 4 73 10 37 1                             Season 91 - Playoffs 13 2 0 2 -1 21 8 10 0                             Bears, Beets, Battlestar Galactica! Dwight Shcrute has been improving steadidly since joinng the VHLM halfway through last season, and projects to be a good 2nd line forward throughout their career, their path may be long, but if they make it they could prove to be a very solid depth forward for sometime. They will be returning to the VHLM this season, where they will hopefully be leading their own line and taking a massive step forward offensively.                                           @Doomsday@Alex@KaleebtheMighty@jacobcarson877

'tis a wonderful time, the week between Christmas and New Year's, and I am pleased today to announce the induction of two wonderful S83 draftees into the VHL Hall of Fame.

We've seen some big blasts from the past return to the VHL recently. v2's comeback with Tui Sova was a huge success, making the Hall of Fame some 80 seasons, over a literal decade, after Josh Vestiquan's induction. Sova's last act, captaining D.C.'s maiden championship was in part made possible by playoff MVP Ronan Lavelle, a return to glory for one Zach @Arce who himself was last inducted around the same time as Vestiquan. For Lavelle, that playoff run in S85 was just the start of a dominant run, one of the finest forward careers we have seen in the 16-team era. He led the league in points twice and notched 7 consecutive seasons of 90 points or more, an unprecedented feat in the modern day. A guaranteed scorer wherever he went, Lavelle is a fine addition to the Hall and a great return to form for a VHL legend.

    4x All-VHL Second Team (S86, S88, S89, S90)
    One Continental Cup (S84)

Lavelle looked like a star from the start, but Brian Payne simmered under the surface. Warsaw located an uncut gem at 26th overall, because he worked his way to the top through grit and stayed there through sheer consistency. Payne started to become noticed when he would without fail end up in the conversation for at least one defenceman award each season. He was no slouch offensively with 6 straight 80-point seasons, but it's the all-around game where he stood out. There's only 1 previous Hall of Famer, Patrice Reynaud back from the VHL's first decade, with more than 1,300 blocked shots, because very few can combine that with over a point-per-game pace. When you add 2,000+ hits, Payne stands in a league of his own. No wonder @Scurvy stood out even on a star-studded Warsaw team, one of the most recognisable of the decade.

And that's not all, this season we are back with a Builder induction. S91 has seen a whole generation of players retire who have played since the player build changes of S83, as well as one season removed from the 10-season anniversary of the VHLE. So what better time to recognise the man who played an integral role in the testing and refining of the new attibutes and is one of the current VHLE commissioners? @Enorama has been actively involved in two of the biggest novelties of the 80s and it's no surprise he's carved out such an impressive legacy. To me, it was obvious he would have a big role to play in the league from Ryan Kastelic's impressive pre-draft performance when in S61 he became the 1st first-gen drafted 1st overall in 30 seasons, but a trend-setter for several of the subsequent drafts. Kastelic didn't make the HOF and I hope Eno's hard work is rewarded at some point with a player induction, but he was the first (and only, before 9-season careers) player to earn 2,000 TPE. Plus, a Builder induction without HOF players only says more about the extracurricular work Eno's done. Founder of the aforementioned D.C. Dragons, guiding them through a few seasons of bad luck to finally get the Continental Cup nearly 20 seasons later (feat. the aforementioned Sova and Lavelle), Enorama has also been a productive long-term member of the BOG and this doesn't feel like the end of the story yet.

Doomsday reacted to Alex in VSN Presents: VHL Season 92 Off-Season Preview
    @Doomsday

Hi everyone, this article was initially set to be out a while ago, but due to real life things got delayed a bit. Still using the old graphic though as Doomsday put in a lot of work in this top tier graphic. In line with yesterday's article we'll be taking a look at each teams offseason so far and what can be expected down the road.

    Calgary Wranglers - Buyer
    S91 Record - 30-30-12
    Projected Cap Space - $2,500,000
Number of resigned players - 11/11

The new Calgary GM @leandrofgdoesn’t really have much to do this offseason, while they don’t have their first the assignment this offseason is fairly straight forward, use the remaining cap space to sign a 4th defensemen. Calgary should have a fairly quiet offseason, but stay tuned for them to maybe make a big swing.

    Chicago Phoenix - Conservative Buyer
    S91 Record - 35-23-14
    Projected Cap Space - $28,000,000
Number of resigned players - 9/11

Chicago has a very strong young base, addition of veterans could help the team over the edge, and watch for them to potentially go all-in though with this season's surprise success . The addition of Yaroslav Trunov @qripll is a needed step, and Chicago could likely continue down this path and could stand to take another step forward. The main area of concern is with the retirement of Scotty Sundin @fromtheinside and filling the void that they left. Chicago will be busy this offseason and could be a top candidate to draft the one and only Wayne Gretzky @MubbleFubbles.

    DC Dragons - Buyer
    S91 Record - 36-26-8
    Projected Cap Space - $8,500,000
Number of resigned players - 9/10

I have D.C. in a very weird spot, they have a great roster for the most part, but do not have a goaltender signed and while Geoff Bezos @Quik is serviceable, they are a step below the true talent that is needed to compete at the top of the league. We can expect D.C. to try and acquire an elite goaltender via trade as there aren't any top goalies in free agency. Other than that the roster is very solid, but if they can’t figure out their goaltending it’s hard to say how they’ll do this coming season.

    Los Angeles Stars - Buyer
    S91 Record - 46-19-7
    Projected Cap Space - $4,500,000
Number of resigned players - 10/11

Los Angeles' best chance is now, with the oldest roster in the league, they will have at most 1 more season to compete. We can expect LA to go all-in this offseason as they push for that elusive cup. Most of their roster retires after this season, so they really only have one season left before a rebuild. LA should be one of the most active teams in the free agent and trade market this season as they will be looking to put together the best possible roster in a short amount of time.

New York Americans - Conservative Buyer?
    S91 Record - 29-38-5
    Projected Cap Space - $28,500,000
Number of resigned players - 6/11

New York’s direction this offseason is widely unknown, they have a bunch of pending free agents specifically Jesper Davis @Josh, and plenty of young prospects, all of whom could find themselves in the ROTY conversation. If New York decides to buy, they are a little bit limited on the draft capital that they can send out, and a patient approach may be best. While playoffs are certainly not out of the question there is a lot to be done, not much time, and some decisions to make, new GM @STZ certainly has their work cut out for them. New York also has the 1st overall pick for the 2nd season in a row and will be looking to pick up a franchise player, likely looking towards the forwards as they already have CGY Janser @Daniel Janser on D.

    Seattle Bears - Seller
    S91 Record - 27-34-11
    Projected Cap Space - $33,000,000
Number of resigned players - 6/6

Seattle has already been active in the trade market, and look to be continuing their rebuild, they already have some key pieces in place and will be looking to build upon that in the draft 5th overall. With the prospect pool fairly empty we can maybe expect Seattle to trade down to grab a goaltender or maybe just take the best player available. It will be a tough call and a long road ahead for Seattle.

    Toronto Legion - Buyer
    S91 Record - 46-24-2
    Projected Cap Space - $15,500,000
Number of resigned players - 6/10

The Continental Cup Champions have a lot of work to do with only 6 players signed for next season and FA opening in a couple days. While cap space isn’t a concern right now, Toronto will have to make some choices and quickly. Sogaard’s @Brandon retirement does help with the cap space, but the number of pending FAs is certainly concerning. Look for Toronto to hopefully get the players signed quickly, if not we could expect a busy trade market as the team will need to get ready for the season in a hurry.

    Vancouver Wolves - Conservative Seller
    S91 Record - 21-42-9
    Projected Cap Space - $29,500,000
Number of resigned players - 4/9

Holy first round picks! Vancouver has amassed 6 S92 first round picks, which is honestly kind of impressive. These picks will go a long way too, they already have several key pieces in place with FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY Analfist and Liv Slater, along with future franchise goaltender Dalkr Vidarsson. We can expect Vancouver to have a very strong draft as well, as they’ll be looking to add both forwards and defensemen as they draft early and often. While Vancouver doesn't have much to sell, we could maybe expect them to move some smaller pieces to competing teams that are in more of a cap crunch.

HC Davos Dynamo - Conservative Seller
    S91 Record - 49-16-7
    Projected Cap Space - $24,500,000
Number of resigned players - 7/8

An era has come to an end in Davos with the retirement of Jake Thunder @Thunder and Pete Mitchell @Crstats23. With this we have seen Davos selling off their remaining pieces, the only reason why I don’t have Davos as a full blown seller is long term commitments to David Jokinen @Ahma and Lachlan Summers @kirbithan. We can look for Davos to likely take on salary where needed from top teams and maybe be active in free agency to try and supplement their remaining pieces and maybe add a new top forward.

    Helsinki Titans - Conservative Buyer
    S91 Record - 41-27-4
    Projected Cap Space - $1,500,000
Number of resigned players - 11/11

Round 2 anyone? Helsinki is back with essentially the exact same roster, Wolanin’s @jacobcarson877 retirement helps them avoid cap hell, and Grimor Ironside @FrostBeard comes up to fill the void. Helsinki will likely have the smoothest offseason out of any team in the league as @samx just has to sit back and relax at this point. They will have a bit of cap space if they wish to do anything, but their roster is still one of, if not the best in the league.

    London United - Conservative Buyer
    S91 Record - 44-19-9
    Projected Cap Space - $13,000,000
Number of resigned players - 8/11

London is in a very strange spot right now following the retirement of two of their top defensemen. They have a great forward core led by Wann Kerr @VattghernCZ, Molly the Cat @JCarson, and Leonard Triller @Triller and Jesse Teno @aimkin in goal. But, their blueline leaves something to be desired, we can expect London to be active in the trade market as they look to add defensemen, they’ll also likely try to make a big splash in Free Agency.

    Malmo Nighthawks - Buyer
    S91 Record - 45-22-5
    Projected Cap Space - $7,000,000
Number of resigned players - 10/11

Malmo had to make one trade this offseason to free up cap space which saw the departure of Yaroslav Trunov. This leaves them with 7 million to bring in another defensemen and maybe make improvements elsewhere on their roster. Malmo does have a bit of momentum right now following a disappointing loss, but with most of their roster returning they should enter S92 very fired up and ready to go. Malmo will likely be fairly active on the trade scene or in Free Agency to polish up their roster.

    Moscow Menace - conservative buyer
    S91 Record - 19-43-10
    Projected Cap Space - $20,000,000
Number of resigned players - 9/15

Moscow could just be in the best position out of everyone in the league right now, almost their entire roster is high earning players on ELCs or players that are just hitting their prime. While Moscow will likely be letting some players go to FA, their roster is solid and may just compete for the playoffs or at least be in the race. In particular goaltender Olober Syko @Spartan enters next season as the favourite for the ROTY honours.

    Prague Phantoms - Hold
    S91 Record - 39-26-7
    Projected Cap Space - -$500,000
Number of resigned players - 12/12

Prague is in a really weird spot right now following a disappointing S91. Their entire roster is signed for this season as Kyle Toms @Ktoms22 and Conference Prince-de-Galles @UnkemptCL4PTP join the big club alongside recently acquired Spanish Moon Moth @Renomitsu. The only slight issue for Prague comes with their cap as they are currently projected to be $500,00 over the cap, however this can be solved easily by moving one of their five defensemen which will free up at least $1,000,000 for improvements elsewhere in the roster if @Acydburn sees fit. We can look for Prague to make 1 or 2 minor moves, but for the most part their roster is set and is looking to return to their S90 form.

    Riga Reign - Conservative Buyer
    S91 Record - 49-17-6
    Projected Cap Space - 11,500,000
Number of resigned players - 12/15

Following last offseason where we saw an exodus of big names leaving Riga, many thought that they would just miss the playoffs and they went ahead and proved everyone wrong. With a renewed young core, Riga has quickly become a top team of the future and still has plenty of draft capital as well. It is hard to find a gap in their roster, outside of needing a true number 1 defensemen, as their forwards should continue to improve to provide the needed scoring and their goaltending is set for the next 9 or so seasons.

    Warsaw Predators - Buyer
    S91 Record - 20-48-4
    Projected Cap Space - $14,500,000
Number of resigned players - 10/13

Warsaw came out this season determined to end the rebuild, they quickly brought in all of Alfred Champagne @Anthique, Dogwood Maple @dogwoodmaple, Rex Wolffe Gregor @oilmandan, and Clueless Wallob @DMaximus from Davos and Seattle. This supplements their young core group of forwards centered around Maxim Anisimov @McLovin and King Kisslinger @Kisslinger. With that being said there is still some serious question marks here as their defense leaves something to be desirted, and a long-term solution in goal is needed. We can look for Warsaw to likely continue to buy to round out their roster or lean heavily on FA.

Doomsday reacted to Baby Boomer in VSN Presents: The best player from the last round of each draft from S81 to S90
    @Jason kranz
    Welcome everyone,

We are back for another VSN article and this time we will look at something that is often under looked. Indeed, the first few rounds are always popular, but the late rounds are more than often left out. This is why we will be looking at the best player from the last round of each VHLE drafts between S81 and S90. Since all the drafts don’t all have the same number of rounds, sometimes it will be the 5th, the 6th, the 7th or even the 8th round. So, here are the best players from the last round of each VHLE drafts between S81 and S90:

S81 – Gus Bentley – 66th overall by the Bratislava Watchmen

The end of the draft in S81 was a little bit weird, because the draft went to the 8th round, but only two picks out of the ten in the last round were used to pick a player. All the other picks were passed. Since, none of the two players drafted in the 8th round reached the VHLE, I decided to use the second-to-last round only for this draft, which was the 7th round. Three players of the 7th round reached the VHLE including Gus Bentley @boatsinking123, CDS Leb @CDS_Leb and Daniel Clarke @Danzo. Gus Bentley was definitely the most successful of them all as he won two Reconnaissance Cup in S83 with the Bratislava Watchmen and in S85 with the Oslo Storm. In the regular season, Bentley scored 56 goals and added 62 assists for a total of 118 points in 216 games from S83 to S85.

S82 – Minou Lambert – 52nd overall by the Bratislava Watchmen

In S82, the VHLE entry draft went to the 7th round and four players that were drafted in this last round reached the VHLE, Anton Bielas @Shawner40, Minou Lambert @Minoulambert23, Freddy Freeze @G_Rush and Shawn Young @shaun1979. All around, they had pretty similar career, so it is hard to decided which one was the best, but Minou Lambert has higher numbers mainly because he had a longer career in the VHLE. In 281 games from S83 to S88, he had 58 goals, 105 assists and a total of 163 points.

S83 – Brodie Landry III – 52nd overall by the Istanbul Red Wolves

Once again, the S83 VHLE draft went to the 7th round and four players played in the VHLE after being draft in the last round, Brodie Landry III @Brodie_Landry, barry bigman @barryst, Juhnu Anttonen @Juhnuxand Alexandre Forgues @Alex99. Out of all of them, Brodie Landry III is definitely the best player as he won two Renaissance Cup with the Oslo Strom in S85 and S86. Originally draft by Istanbul and then traded to Oslo before the start of his VHLE career, Landry III played with the Storm his entire VHLE career from S85 to S87. He had a record of 32 goals and 138 assists for a total of 170 points in 216 games as a defenceman.

S84 – Pierre Emile Bouchard – 43rd overall by the Stockholm Vikings

Pierre Emile Bouchard @Gaikoku-hito and Evan Bihler @Eb14 are the only two players that were draft in the last round of the S84 VHLE draft and made it to the VHLE. Evan Bihler had an incredible career in the VHLE as he won the Orion D H Chiester IX Trophy for the top goalie and the Ronan Lavelle for the MVP of the regular season, both in S89 with the Istanbul Red Wolves. However, what is really impressive about Pierre Emile Bouchard’s pick is that he was almost already a capped player (398 TPE) when he got drafted. This means that he should have been a first round pick normally.

S85 – Henry Eagles – 47th overall by the Bratislava Watchmen

The S85 draft went to the 6th round, but this time only one player made the VHLE after being drafted in the last round and his name is Henry Eagles @Greg_Di. If you look at the stats (11g, 14a) of
his only season in the VHLE, you say to yourself that you understand why he was a 47th pick overall, but when you look at his number of TPE (385) when Bratislava drafted him, you start to wonder why he got drafted so low in the draft. Indeed, Eagles is currently in the VHL, and he is having a pretty good career.

S86 – Keon Jeannot – 46th overall by the Cologne Express

S86 had a really good last round as five out of the eight players drafted in the 6th round made the VHLE one day, Keon Jeannot @Lucas anton, Fuukka Rask @Jubis, Timothy Swearingen @Timmy30, Ross Glagau @Zetterberg and antonio marchand @Tapirman. Even if they all had great careers in the VHLE, we can say that Keon Jeannot had a bit of a better one as he won the Renaissance Cup in S89 with the Cologne Express. In two seasons with Cologne (S88 and S89), Jeannot scored 46 goals and added 54 assists for a total of 100 points in 144 games.

S87 – Nick Sansoe – 36th overall by the Istanbul Red Wolves

The S87 VHLE entry draft only had five rounds and three players made it out of the VHLM, Skor McFleury @Alex, Vasteras Iron Eagles legend Mac Atlas @v.2 and Nick Sansoe @Tipskid97. However, only Nick Sansoe played in the VHLE during his career. He had an average first season in S89 with the Istanbul Red Wolves before playing with the London United in the VHL in S90. He came back in the VHLE for another season in S91, this time with the Rome Gladiators, and he destroyed everything in the league, with a record of 44 goals and 50 assists for a total of 94 points.

S88 – Davis McLirath – 45th overall by the Geneva Rush

The 6th and last round of the S88 VHLE entry draft was not an incredible one. Indeed, only Davis McLirath @Try_Me678 played in the VHLE at some point in his career. He played 72 games in S90 with the Oslo Storm, and he had 6 goals, 13 assists and 19 points.

S89 – Baby Moo Moo – 39th overall by the Cologne Express

Four out of the eight players drafted in the 5th round of the S89 draft eventually played in the VHLE, Baby Moo Moo @Elvis, Med @Med, Bryce tyrone Johnson @BryceP and Miroslav @Zyrok. All of them are still in the VHLE and are going on with their career, but only one of them won something in this league. Indeed, Baby Moo Moo won the Renaissance Cup in S90 and S91 with the Cologne Express.

S90 – Vladimir Kozlov – 47th overall by the Oslo Storm

The S90 draft class is still very young, so zero player of the 8th round played in the VHLE at this moment. However, Vladimir Kozlov @vladbatton is currently on the roster of the Oslo Strom and is expected to play in the VHLE in S92. Trey Daniels @Tdan04 is another player who is close to play in the VHLE.

Thanks everyone for reading, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays and see you in another VSN article.

    Hello VHL,

This post serves as my announcement of my resignation from Recruitment, GM of the New York Americans, Board of Governors, and as one of the VHLE Commissioners. Allow me a moment to explain:

On October 8th, 2020, I found myself with a lot of time on my hands. I was working part-time and earning my Master's degree while living in a world that was dictated by COVID. I saw an advertisement on one of Thrash94's videos for the VHL and I quickly joined. I came in eager to learn, eager to earn, and eager to make Hall of Fame-worthy players. I dove headfirst into the VHL community and loved every minute of it. Eventually, I applied to be a GM for Team USA in the WJC and since then I've managed in one way or another. I became a GM for the San Diego Marlins, then the Stockholm Vikings, and finally the New York Americans. In all of that, I helped manage various off-season tournaments as well. That escalated to me taking a position on the Recruitment Team, and being asked to work as a Commissioner for the VHLE, which I happily accepted.

While all of that was going on, my personal life and career were taking off. My wife became pregnant, we moved back to our home state, and our family grew. I finished my Master's, and started working full-time, and the time that I had to devote to the league dwindled more and more over time. This year though has been a tipping point. As some of you know, my mother struggled with addiction my whole life, and in April that struggle caught up to her and she passed. Then, my wife and I endured the hardship of losing two children through miscarriage. Those events led us to grow much closer, and it made me realize just how precious the time I have with my family is. It's only here temporarily, and it can vanish in the blink of an eye.

Those hard moments were, well, hard. But, there have been so many good things to happen in my life this year, most of them revolving around increased work responsibilities. While I love my work, I don't have the luxury of a job that runs 9-5 and is off on the weekends, so the free time I do get is rather limited and decreases more and more.

All of that being said, I want you to know that I am not making this decision because I'm burnt out, nor because I've lost interest in the VHL. It comes down to the fact that I just don't have the time I used to when I first started, and I can't devote the way I want to the thing that I seem to be lacking.

My goal, at this time, is to finish out my career with Dynamite and then...well, who knows? Maybe I'll take a season or two off completely and lurk every once in a while, or maybe I'll make another player and ride the pension/welfare train for a while. I don't know. What I do know is that I'm thankful for the time I've had here, and for the friends I've made.

    1. Fresco’s beer podcast for sure.
    2. I think Moscow. They’ve had one of the best GM’s I’ve seen in the league, and it is time for that to reflect into the trophy sheet.
    3. Myself.

    1. Do you have any holiday traditions if you celebrate?
    2. What is your favorite winter activity?
    3. If you could take a spontaneous trip right no where would you go?

Doomsday got a reaction from Ricer13 in Calgary Wranglers, End of an Era
It's a sad day in Calgary, as you have done so much for the Wranglers in your time there. It has become a thriving community of all sorts of quality people, a destination that any member would be delighted to be a part of. You truly ushered in a golden era in Calgary's illustrious history, and I am so grateful and blessed that you believed in me to let me be a part of that.

Congratulations on a hell of a career, and I can't wait to see what you can do for your next go-around!

    Hello friends,

I am officially announcing my retirement as General Manager of the Calgary Wranglers. There are a few reasons as to why I have made this decision and now is the best time to take a step back from this role to better spend my time in other areas of the league and in my personal life.

I hold a pretty high bar for myself when it comes to maintaining a certain level of activity for any locker room that I am in charge of. The day that became a chore is the day I knew it was time for a much needed break. I also live a super busy personal life and this has also made it harder to give the locker room my full attention.

There is nothing to worry about in terms of my participation in the league. I still very much enjoy and love being apart of this league. I will have better focus on my player and the locker room I’m apart of there. I have my moderation gig that I’ll have more time to focus on and one day I do plan on stepping back into a GM role because it truly is a passion of mine.

Lastly, thank you to all the GMs I have had a pleasure to work with since I’ve started, all the AGMs who have worked along side me over the seasons and the players who grinded it out and bought into the way I wanted things to run in Calgary. I am not going to ping everyone who’s been an important part of this journey, I think you all know who you are at this point.

    Ricer, out!! 🎤 ⬇️

**I do recommend that @leandrofg be considered to step in as replacement. He has been running the team behind the scenes this past season and has a really good handle on how things are going in Calgary. He also has a long history with the organization. I will respect whatever decision is made for my replacement.**
