Sure I'll throw my last million out there! Come join the Cinderella story. Ottawa - last place in the regular season, but took out Saskatoon in the wild card already. Got a big fight on our hands next round vs Yukon, the top team in the regular season
-
The Ottawa Lynx have been up and down this season, although mostly down. Having finished last in the standings, Ottawa had to face Saskatoon in the wild card round for a chance to get into the proper playoffs, and based on the regular season, Ottawa would be expected to lose. However, this is a team whose entire roster was essentially overhauled at the deadline and later, except for two key players (Ambrose Charizard and Arbin Asipi). The Vilhjalmsson triplets, who were most of the team before the deadline, were sent to Vegas for a handful of journeyman players, the best of which is Corey Guimond although Mikka Toivonen has had a decent showing as well. One of the players who'd been playing defense for Ottawa, Zach Weise, went to Yukon for a draft pick. Then, after the deadline, it's as though the floodgates opened. New rookies kept coming to Ottawa for a healthy dose of playing time (although it took Marvin Harding some time to appear on the eligible roster). Samuel Gate gave the team a real defenseman to rely on, and Mikhail Vega and Marvin Harding filled out a line alongside Charizard, allowing Guimond and Toivonen (along with Longrod von Danglecoch, one of the original Lynx from the beginning of the season) to slide down the lines a bit and give the team depth. A team devoid of players suddenly wasn't, and with the filling of the roster came a sense of the unknown. No one could really be sure what this team would do in the playoffs. The wild card round ended pretty favorably for Ottawa as they took out Saskatoon in two straight games. Next up is Yukon, the team that won the regular season, and presumably that's a bridge too far for this team no matter how revamped they are - or is it?

2-0 Ottawa, this is good

You're a goalie so all your stats count, you just need to declare to be counted

@DeathOnReddit @Evans Also: Evan R. Lawson, LW, goals/points

Will you guys be implementing a buyback program for my Oakhart jersey?

1m - my final 1m as I burned off half of it on the Vilhjalmssons. Apparently Ottawa is the place for all the recreates, I got 3 of them so far. We're not even remotely competitive, but playing time will be large

So at the deadline (or actually 45 minutes after the deadline, since @Spade18 couldn't be bothered to be on :P but the trade was approved by the higher ups anyway) I traded away the Vilhjalmssons for a few late picks and a bunch of inactives, including a half decent one in Guimond. Now obviously for three active guys that's not the greatest haul, but they signed partway into the season anyway so I'd have lost them for free at the end of the season, so I'm not that concerned about not getting too much for them. It was absolutely the right move at the time, a selling team selling its actives as rentals, and it's a standard hockey move. Here's the thing though: after the deadline, when all the recreates recreated, I got 3 of them to come to Ottawa - Samuel Gate, Mikhail Vega, and Marvin Harding. Admittedly, I don't think it would have been enough to fix anything in the regular season, but I think it would have made for an interesting roster headed into the playoffs, if I'd have actually kept the brothers. I'd have had two full lines of active forwards, the brothers would stay together and Ambrose Charizard could play alongside the two new forwards in Vega and Harding (and this will be a line going forward as well). I'd have had an actual active defenseman for once in Gate, who could play alongside my position switched inactives, Weise and Fart (Weise was also sent to Yukon for a 3rd at the deadline). Right move at the time, no question about that, but it provides an interesting thought experiment about what could have been, had I somehow known exactly which recreates I'd get prior to them even existing.

It's called strategic voting. A vote for someone who's obviously getting in (in a big poll like this) is just as much a waste as a vote for someone with no chance. Vote for guys you think will end up on the edge, try to control that part of it, let the obvious people get the obvious votes from elsewhere.

1m to come to Ottawa. Competitive? Not really. Playing time? a looot.

I intend to be one for a very long time. Only 3 ways I would stop: 1. Active new guy wants a spot, there are no available spots. Even then, naming him an unofficial co until something pops up is always an option. 2. Get roped into a job in the bigs like @Beaviss did by being on a team when the GM goes inactive. 3. Life gets in the way and I go inactive again. Barring those three things, I'm expecting to be here for the long haul

It is a good name, I like it. Clarence was normal, Reikkinen was normal. As a general rule, I think your normal name guys have been better

At least this year I can work on getting some chemistry between Charizard, Danglecoch, and Guimond. That's honestly not a bad VHLM line. Develop around it and Asipi in goal next year with a year of welfares under his belt. Pick up some D in the draft and I could compete fairly well next season
-
I'm having a hard time finding the Muffins player in this thread. I'm seeing a guy with a normal name.
-
I'd like for him to be great NEXT year. More specifically, I'd like for his eligibility to not run out next year. I don't particularly need him to be good this year
-
Toivonen and Lenin there isn't really much point for since this is the last year of eligibility for them, just had them in there since they were part of Spade's original offer. Honestly, I look at the deal as Guimond, a 4th, and depth.

Just hours after I trade for Shpeen

So I'm going to offer $1m to you but I'll lay it out honestly: if you want to compete, I'm probably not your guy right now. If you want to join Street and be one of only two D on the whole roster, thus getting all the playing time, I'm absolutely your guy.
-
Welcome aboard! Perhaps you and my goalie can build a sim chemistry (to the extent that's even a thing) and I'd possibly look toward bringing you back to us in the draft
-
On my phone - can someone put in here the Alec Guinness obi-wan meme about "that's a name I've not heard in a long time"
-
Ottawa offers 1m because I'll never turn down a guy if I have space, but there are better spots for you right now
