  1. Gooningitup selects Bastion Mac Finsceal @Polygeekism
  2. 5th overall: Arbin Asipi to Ottawa! Welcome @DeathOnReddit
  3. @Velevra
  4. Gooningitup picks Veran Dragomir 1st overall
  5. That's fair then, discussion is good
  6. Do this. We even already have Quik and Jardy - all we need is Spangle, Hillsy, and Munk.
  7. You won, does it really matter? (Side note, I voted for Cornerstone, before you go "there's one of them" I just don't see why you need to be unanimous - is the hit to your ego really that big over a non-unanimous win that was still somewhat of a landslide?)
  8. You weren't in the S59 VHL draft. You're in the S59 VHLM draft, which is tomorrow. You'll also be in the S60 VHL draft next season.
  9. Generally go through the teams, the guys with more TPE are more often than not the good players, or you can just go by who has been picked in other groups unless your group is the fastest
  10. @MadMax @HellBillyXIII easy way to get some tpe. If you don't know which players to pick just look at who's picked in other groups
  11. Aleksei Federov Torstein Ironside @Quik

  13. Some might see that and laugh - another diamond_ace player going to Calgary. I mean I've spent 90% of my VHL life with that team, you'd think somewhere in there I'd have ended up elsewhere for more time than I have, especially considering two of my players went into the draft like normal people just to end up getting drafted back to Calgary (Kerkko Hyvarinen, and now my current player, Evan R. Lawson). You'd think somewhere along the way, I'd get tired of it, want to explore the VHL world. In short: no. I'm happy with Calgary, always have always will, much in the way that after a vacation there comes a time when you're just happy to be back home. Not only that, but I'm drafted to Calgary while GMing Ottawa. S20, anyone? So while history is repeating itself again, I'm content with that, I'll find my old comfy corner in the back of the Calgary dressing room that got me through dozens of seasons and return to where I belong. I'll embrace Calgary like a long lost friend, because that's kind of what it is. Calgary has been good to me, I've been good to it (some may disagree), and ultimately it's just something that happens. There must always be a diamond_ace in Calgary.
  14. This makes things interesting
  15. There was a span of 9 seasons, in an 8 team league, where every cup went to Ottawa/Saskatoon/Brampton but one. S26 Vasteras, one of the best regular season teams of all time, still managed to lose to Brampton. The guy who GMed Saskatoon in that span is the guy who the top GM trophy is named after... Like I said though, S20s VHLM isn't the same league as S50s-60s VHLM. It'll still take a bit to get adjusted. At least for a while, I'd still give the edge to you and the others who are currently doing it.
  16. Obv just had to throw that out there - the league has changed significantly, and any old GM, even a very successful one, will have a learning curve compared to a guy GMing in the current league
  17. You don't want any of this http://www.vhlforum.com/topic/772-s21-champions-ottawa-ice-dogs/ http://www.vhlforum.com/topic/774-s23-champions-ottawa-ice-dogs/
  18. Now that is a way to stand out as a new guy! Be advised my friend, the newly appointed GM of the Ottawa Lynx has an eye on you. You could go very far in this league
  19. Back to the beginning. Time to win 2 cups in 6 seasons - although now that there are only 5 teams, that's not as impressive
  20. The price of success. You can't make a cup winning team without losing a few pieces for free
  21. No I'm not going back to VHL GMing, unless I'm in a situation like Beaviss was and stuck in it because the main GM is inactive. I always enjoyed VHLM GMing more
  22. Technically, I'm not part of Lynx history, as they were named the Ice Dogs when I was GM of Ottawa before. Same team though - it would be like being GM of the Atlanta Thrashers then taking over the Winnipeg Jets years later
  23. When I can get more than 5 minutes away from work. Coworker's grandfather died so everyone's having to cover her shifts, and I'm one of the few reliable people so I've gotten stuck with a few. Might be able to do a bit tonight or so, even though I'm at work, if we're dead.
  24. #NotMyOttawa #TheyllAlwaysBeIceDogsToMe
  25. Yes Max Talbot, he's with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl (who have apparently rebuilt decently well in the years since the crash) Also, Jim Paek is the coach of S.Korea national team!
