  3. This is definitely a good hire, eagles has done a lot

  5. I have the 2nd and 7th picks, as well as 2 3rds, 2 4ths, and 2 5ths. Not as much as Saskatoon, but I think we're shaping up to be their main competitors next year, at least based on the draft (most of the players who were in the league in the prior season and made Yukon and Vegas as good as they were, should head up to the VHL in the upcoming season). We have enough picks to be a strong competitive team and build a good atmosphere for developing new players for their eventual forays into the VHL. Plus, a key factor will be Arbin Asipi, our goalie who now has a second season of development under his belt and should be one of the best in the league in the upcoming season. So if you're a new player, and you're going into the upcoming VHLM draft, let me know if you want to come to Ottawa!
  6. I'd say it's probably a bit of a waste to put into leadership, especially early on. Welcome to the league, and maybe I can bring you to Ottawa in the upcoming season
  7. So some of you have me on facebook and therefore know this already, but I just got engaged
  8. Need to remember tolisten to this tonight in the hotel
  9. No further questions, your honor.
  10. As a member of no VHL team (rights owned by Calgary but player in VHLM) I find it odd that you think I'm required to post in ALL threads, rather than just the ones I choose to post in. I don't have a player on either Helsinki or NY, so I do not feel obligated to post in a Helsinki vs NY game thread. What it boils down to, is you're offended by gg. That's on you.
  11. Ottawa participated in two series this playoffs. In one, the wild card round against Saskatoon, we didn't lose a game. In the other, the semifinal against Yukon, we didn't win a game. Now to say I was surprised to lose to Yukon would be a lie - they were the best team in the regular season, well ahead of Ottawa, and fully deserve a spot in the final regardless of our late resurgence of recreates. The surprising part, for me, was the sweep. I expected to get a game or two out of them. We almost did, there was one game where we only lost by a goal, but losing is losing and we did so 4 times, eliminating us from the playoffs. The obvious next step is the draft. Saskatoon finished worse than us in both the regular season and the playoffs, which would give them first overall, and we'll then have second. The interesting part is that I'd floated around a trade idea last draft - this year's 1st for last year's 2nd and 3rd - that no one wanted to take. Ultimately, it worked out in my favor that no one took it. The two extra guys would have been nice, but I don't think it would have gained me enough points to get into 1st or 2nd (I thought the rest of our roster was better than it was, but we got cleaned out completely after Beaviss' cup run). We'd either have stayed right where we were, in which case we'd have almost certainly still lost to Yukon, or we'd have bumped up a spot and finished 3rd, where we'd still have had Vegas to face and likely lose - and a pending series with Yukon if we'd won. 2nd overall, as well as 7th and 12th now that there are only 5 teams (plus Yukon's 3rd, likely either 14th or 15th), should enable us to build a decent team. I'll also look to deal some S61 picks for S60 picks, if there are takers for that as well. I do have a certain player in mind at 2, as well as a backup option should that player get taken at 1. Over the next few days (well, whenever I have downtime at the hotel, as I leave for Delaware in about 10 hours) I'll be looking to create a list at least as long as 7 (my 1 and 2 options are similar players so I won't need contingencies for if I get X instead of Y, so it's safe to build just a standard list to 7), and perhaps project from there what scenarios might play out heading toward the 3rd round.
  12. Any idea about the upcoming draft, who you think will go where etc?
  13. BESL, on the Pucktheory forums. Super lax requirements (basically you get rated every season based on post count with a few modifiers, you don't need to do anything PT wise, and your rating plus your contract determines what you add to your guy). It's the type of thing where you could genuinely just have it running in the background, pop on every few days, comment on some games and in the team threads, and still be a decent player.
  14. Good to see I did something fairly useful
  15. Offer rescinded, because we're out of the playoffs. Sorry bud but I can't play you in the remaining games if I have no remaining games

  17. While the actual quality of play is better if it's the big 3 and City, I have to admit I'm a little tired of the same results. I like seeing new teams up there. Last year was good for that (although it still had a standard winner)
  18. When Sevilla are closer to Bayern than Juve are to Real Madrid...
  19. The difficulty of the task has no bearing on the debate at hand. The debate at hand, or at least the debate I'm having, is whether the default position should be chat-on (a position seemingly supported by those who prefer onsite chat) or chat-off (a position seemingly supported by those who prefer discord or some other, external means of chat, or prefer no chat at all). It is equally simple to turn a chat on as it is to turn a chat off, so the difficulty of the task is a non sequitur. The debate, or the extent to which the debate has anything to do with the turning on or off of chat, is which side should shoulder the extra step. Whether the "default state" of a forum is to include chat, and therefore those who wish not to chat should shoulder the minor burden of turning it off, or whether the "default state" of a forum is without chat, and therefore those who wish to chat should shoulder the minor burden of opening a chat for themselves. I hold that forums as a general rule do not inherently include chat, and therefore my membership on said forum should not have to include turning off said chat. Auto login is similar to auto anything else - how did people feel when that one line of iPhones automatically had a U2 album on them? They had to go through an additional step to attempt to remove said album, which was not part of their agreement to sign up for and purchase the phone, even if it wasn't "difficult" to remove. Or auto-renewal after a free trial, at full cost, of monthly or yearly subscriptions to things, unless an action is specifically undertaken to cancel? That is pretty much universally hated, as it's not part of the implied agreement of a "free" trial. If said trial is to be truly considered free, then one should not by default be paying for it, unless choosing to do so. I'm not sure if this is an option, but ideally, I think the best and fairest thing would be to have chat (added functionality for those who want it) but with it defaulted to off unless choosing to be on. Nonetheless, I'll turn off the chat since it's so god damn important to Eagles - but I'm getting sick of having to defend it. If I don't want to chat, I'm not required to chat, it's that simple. tl;dr mentioning the "difficulty" of the task is derailing the argument, difficulty has nothing to do with it
  20. Auto login is the problem with current chat. With Discord, if I don't want to be on, I simply don't undergo any actions. Here, if I don't want to be on, I actually have to change that.
  21. Chat is back. Remind me to click it to Offline every time I'm on from a new device. So far I've only gotten messaged once - not a bad ratio

The whole thing with people complaining about other people getting offended about stuff has gone too far, across most of the internet. There are genuinely times where getting offended is the proper reaction. There are people who go out of their way to be offensive, just so they can point fingers at the people who get offended by it. People get offended about too much, but going to the opposite extreme and expecting no one to be offended about anything isn't the right balance either.

Still though, this is derailing the original point

Chat is just a more convenient way to PM it's not like if you ignore someone's chat it's the end of the world lol

And I had no idea I was such a nuisance to you. I'll be sure not to contact you again then

You've been both ends. Your messages on facebook were actually what got me to come back. Plus you were the heir to my throne in Calgary. At your best, you're probably one of my top 5 members on the site. It's just... all the chat. It got repetitive and annoying pretty quick. Like I said though, don't take that as all of it, in other aspects you're seriously one of my favorites

  22. Flyers Jagr. I hoped to forget that was a thing
