Breaking news: Turku ice crew has been spotted donating thousands of hats to the village in Africa where Super Bowl shirts for the losing team go.

He used to be Jack Crasher, he left the SHL by going to FA, telling every team he'd sign with them but to keep it quiet until the announcement, then started the announcement thread saying he'd be back in half an hour to post, then left the site forever.

Accept. Finally got a 2nd, although it would have been nice to get it for just one guy, it beats all the 3rds people were trying to give us.

True, many people consider that term to be family, but I don't believe the people have the right to change the definition of a word which has already been defined. In that sense, I'd like for there to be another word, so that when someone brings up family out of context, it's not necessary to ask for which kind they're talking about. Theoretically, it could be that people on the whole could take the word "family" to ONLY mean the non-biological but chosen family, and use the word "kin" for biological family as used to be more common, which would clearly delineate the difference. However, the linguistics side of this discussion wasn't really the point, and I believe you've correctly pulled out the point. I might like to add, though, that while I said this was a better use of my time, I didn't necessarily state that I agreed it was the most important. I do think that the consumerist side of the whole season is valuable. It spurs the economy and keeps people in jobs, as well as providing temporary work for people who either don't hold down a regular job or need extra money. There's also a proven psychological boost in the anticipation of buying things and receiving things, which in a modern society, people can use all the psychological boosts possible. However, I think the most important aspect is that it brings a month-long distraction from the increasingly cold winter months. People tend to hole up in their houses in the winter. Christmas and Hannukah/Kwanzaa/etc. give us reasons, whether through visits, shopping, or anything else, to get out and do something, temporarily causing us to forget the cold. There are people out there with seasonal affective disorder, when it finally gets warm in late March/early April these people have to work on pulling out of a depression-like state. How much worse would that be if they had another month's worth of said state to pull out of? Even for people who don't have it, the population on the whole is much less happy and much less motivated to do things during January and February. The effect isn't as strong in December, and that is due to the holiday season and the fact that other things are constantly on the mind, not allowing the cold to really penetrate.

Under the circumstances, I think point tasks are the last thing anyone is worried about. Keep strong, it's always a tough time when going through loss, cope however you feel you need to and come back to this place when and if you are ready for it. If you need anything, let me know, I've been through more than my share of family deaths, but to some extent this is always going to be a personal thing and you have to get through it how you will.

The family members I want to see live too far (will be going over to visit my sister in January, but can't take the multiple days off in a row during the busy retail season) and the family members I saw, I didn't particularly want to see (I have nothing at all in common with the majority of my cousins and care about as much for them as for a random internet acquaintance - in fact, there are several people on here I'd rather spend time with than my cousins. Cousin events bore me to tears). Family, as a concept by which we bind ourselves into non-chosen but biological groups, is arguably the single LEAST important aspect of christmas to me. The non-factual concept of family (such as the members of the site, or the guy who used to do tattoos for my dad back before he died, one of the people I am closest to in real life) is a much more valuable use of my time, although it does frustrate me that there isn't a second term for this non-factual family. I hate using the term family for this, because the term has a definition and this is not it.

Tis true, the one blemish on my otherwise spotless record, forum-wise anyway. I'm 0-for in terms of successful players...

You haven't opened everything yet. There. Now you have a Turbo Man. Do you have any idea what lengths I had to go to in order to get you a Turbo Man?

I don't know or care which skin I'm on. From the descriptions, I'm going to assume the Vasteras one.

Calgary might be interested in acquiring STO G. Don't let Brookside's current play fool you, we know he's never been a good goalie long term, so STO G might be an improvement. As much as it pains us to put a Calgary lifer on the block, CAL C2 expressed interest in Stockholm so if you want him, we could do a trade, CAL C2 for STO G.

Claimed:Season 40 Draft: Best Ever? [Final: 6/6]

Marcus Hurley is outperforming his selection as well -
Is this a hockey team or an MMA promotional squad? No one can really be sure, and no one is about to ask them to find out. The inaugural season of the Stockholm Vikings reads like something out of a Rocky movie. Edwin Encarnacion, the terrible-turned-half-decent defenseman who just recently had been suiting up for the Calgary Wranglers, left in free agency to become the Vikings’ first free agent signing in their short history. Hindsight makes this signing look spot on, as Jack Kowalski, a recent draftee, looks to file in alongside Encarnacion and form a Bash Brothers type defensive pairing. This is the type of pairing that no opposing forwards really want to go out against, lest they incur a season-ending injury. As though Encarnacion and Kowalski weren’t enough, the Vikings just traded for Sam Keeler, until recently of the New York Americans. Keeler was the Americans’ resident goon, not particularly skilled at hockey but skilled at scaring and humbling the opposition with physical superiority. The Vikings already had one of these as a carryover from the Vasteras days, that being Keeler’s draft day rival, Tyrone Williams. Keeler and Williams were not fond of each other at the time, but throughout the season the Vikings’ staff will look to heal the animosity between the two, or at least channel it against the opposition.

Historical articles are certainly not my strong point, you have more of a chance than you think.

Of Course I'm Fucking Tracking Goalie Sacks
diamond_ace replied to Tagger's topic in VHL.com Articles
So as long as it doesn't change the result of the game, Brookside is definitely willing to take a goalie sack or two so Encarnacion can boost his numbers. Just do it in the 3rd if one team has a multi-goal lead.
