Velevra 312
1: What is one team that missed the playoffs this season in the VHL that you think will make it this time around and why? Maybe Davos or Calgary? Davos since I think London might be retooling a bit and CGY almost made it last season. 2: Who do you think is going to go first overall in the VHL draft and why? I probably would have guessed Eagles since he had the most TPE and I see I would have been wrong 3: What are your expectations for your player this season? Hitting the point per game mark again hopefully and help the team make a solid playoff run by playing good defensively. 4: Would you rather win a Stanley Cup or win an Olympic Gold Medal and why? That's a tough one, maybe the Olympic gold since you get less chances at that over your career. 5: Where do you think the Chicago Phoenix are going to finish in the standings next season and why? 1st place, got to aim high right and I think we have developed more than last season. 6: Who would you consider our rivals in the VHL? Maybe Seattle since they knocked us out this past season in the playoffs. badcolethetitan 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/87352-chicago-phoenix-press-conference/page/20/#findComment-1035011 Share on other sites

They were competing for a playoff spot the entire season and they look the strongest on paper out of the teams that missed. 2: I would've went with Roger Eagles. They look very skilled and I wouldn't be surprised if they win rookie of the year. 3: I think I've made a lot of improvements to my game. I'm hoping to go positive and have around the same amount of points. Maybe somewhere between 70-90 4: Stanley Cup. Your name is on a trophy alongside legends of the sport and it's more likely people will know your name in 10+ years. 5: I think around the same place. 3rd in our conference seems like a safe bet, we made some decent improvements but we have some tough teams to compete with. 7: I think Vancouver will be at the top of the standings. They have a great goaltender and are the most rounded teams in general. badcolethetitan 1 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/87352-chicago-phoenix-press-conference/page/20/#findComment-1035066 Share on other sites

If so, what is your favorite part about the game? 1. I think Davos will be the most improved team this season, as all those top picks have been developing nicely. They've also begun trading draft capital for missing pieces, so this is a team reading to start contending in the European Conference. 2. Roger Eagles was the consensus top choice, but Calgary certainly didn't see it that way, opting for Spider Panda and a friend in Ricer. Either way, they were getting a top-tier goalie for their future. 3. After a second team All-VHL nod, I'd love to see Oven be more consistent this season. There were numerous stretches where he went cold, and I feel like he could be more involved with setting up his teammates as well. 4. I'd have to go with the Stanley Cup, the toughest trophy to win in all of sports. Ending a team's drought and having your named engraved into immortality is too much to pass up. 6. I think the teams we competed the hardest against were definitely Seattle and Calgary, and they were also teams we hated to lose to. I'd say they make the most sense as our rivals. 8. Besides the usual grind of building a small school into a powerhouse, the addition of the famed Whiteout absolutely geeks me out as a Penn State fan! MacKinnon could bring put the Laine we used to know. 4: I think the new York Americans are a safe bet. Of course I'd like more, but if I continue at this pace I'll be happy. 7: oddly enough. New York. They're gonna be tough but if we prove we can beat them then we should be a playoff favorite. Velevra 312
1: Did you watch any of the Olympics? If so, which event did you watch the most? If not, which event would you like to watch in the future? Caught some of it, followed basketball and soccer the most and watched highlights from a bunch of the other sports! 2: Are you surprised with our start to the season? Why or why not? I would say a little surprised, I expected us to be strong but not so strong to shoot up to first in the conference right away. 4: Which team in NA do you think will give us the hardest time and why? I think Toronto and New York have pretty solid rosters we should keep an eye out for this season. 5: Has your player started the season how you wanted to? Why or why not? Pretty happy so far! My build is more oriented towards team success than individual stats but some of the stats like a good amount of shot blocks and being at a point per game are nice to see. 6: What is one area you think that your player could improve in and why? I think I'm pretty close to what my max build will be and then the focus will be on retaining the talent through the regression years. So just slight improvements to DF/PH/SC left 7: Which team do you want to play the most this season and why? Playing Moscow who are the defending champs would be fun. Should be a good test! But we need to maintain this pace for it to have meant anything. 3. I guess anyone who wants an overrated forward that can't/refuses to play defense and whines/complains about coaches can have him. 4. Seattle is a team that can never be truly counted out unless they themselves throw in the towel. They've got a talented lineup through and through and when they're clicking, they're tough to stop. 5. YaBoi has been very feast or famine so far. It's leading to some nice stats, but I'd prefer a more consistent approach on a game-to-game basis. Help win more games. 7. I think the boys are always hyped to play Calgary as they're such important games for both teams. You can't afford to come out flat against a conference rival when you have playoff aspirations. 8. NFL: Dallas Cowboys - FOR THE LOVE OF GOD JERRY, SIGN CEEDEE. PAY THE MAN HIS MONEY. NCAA: Penn State Nittany Lions - Should be another fun year, hoping all the added competition to the B1G makes them a tougher team this season! I would go with 0, it's a fantastic decision and not terrible at all. Doomsday is great and I'm sure Cole appreciates the support! 3. Speaking of the folding of the VHLE, what are your thoughts on that? I was probably more pro-VHLE than most. badcolethetitan 938
Answers 1. I think a lot of teams last season have gotten weaker and we've basically stayed around the same, hence making this a great start. 2. Ryan Artyomov. He's been fantastic and without him, we would be able to win some of our games. 3. I think Toronto. I don't think people expected them to be barely .500 and floating towards a wildcard spot. 6. Kickstart my Heart by Motley Crue. Banger song and I think it would fit well. 7. Pumpkin Pie. I always have it at thanksgiving and it's the only time in the year I eat it. 8. If the people are chill it gets me more invested. Doomsday 4,141
We're so back. You ONLY have to answer six of the eight questions! WEEK OF NOVEMBER 11th TO 17th 1. Things are really firing on all cylinders for Chicago right now. Is there anything the team could do to be even better? 2. If you had to fight for your life against any VHL mascot, which one could you beat and why? 3. Spanish Moon Moth has 11 more points than the next closest player, along with a game in hand. Is he a lock for the Scotty Campbell Trophy? 4. What's the best celly in all of sports? 5. In the PBE, there is a baseball team on the moon. How long do you think it would take for that to be possible in real life? 6. What is your most triumphant sports memory? 7. What's something that you collect? 8. Vacation time! Camping in the woods, going to the beach, or skiing/snowboarding in the mountains? Velevra 312
1. Things are really firing on all cylinders for Chicago right now. Is there anything the team could do to be even better? Looks like we still drop some games giving up to many goals. Have to make sure the team isn't making careless mistakes like that! 2. If you had to fight for your life against any VHL mascot, which one could you beat and why? I'm not sure what all the mascots are. Maybe the NY Americans, is there mascot just an average american? Seems easier than a dragon or something 3. Spanish Moon Moth has 11 more points than the next closest player, along with a game in hand. Is he a lock for the Scotty Campbell Trophy? Still plenty of season left but if he can keep up the pace (hope he will!) he should be a lock 4. What's the best celly in all of sports? The opposing team bench stare down. 5. In the PBE, there is a baseball team on the moon. How long do you think it would take for that to be possible in real life? I'm not sure it will ever happen logistically. Think of the transportation costs for such a team I guess if the Moon was colonized it could maybe have it's own league after all the other priorities were met. 100 years perhaps? 8. Vacation time! Camping in the woods, going to the beach, or skiing/snowboarding in the mountains? I am rather partial to skiing in the mountains myself. Camping in the woods, going to the beach, or skiing/snowboarding in the mountains? 1. I think we need to be able to have better starts. Sometimes we immediately fall behind and it's almost impossible to get out of a hole like that. 2. Probably NYA. Their mascot is an American, so I feel like I might have a fair shot? 3. Yes. They've had an exceptional season and hopefully they can take home the trophy! 4. Bow and Arrow cele. I've used it a couple times. 6. I guess for the Sabres probably making it to the finals? If it was for myself personally, winning the championship in high school hockey. 8. I would go to the beach. I just want to relax in the sun! Doomsday 4,141
All rise for the home stretch! You ONLY have to answer six of the eight questions! WEEK OF NOVEMBER 18th TO 24th 1. Down to the final games of the regular season, the Chicago Phoenix are on the verge of locking up a playoff spot. What can we do to get momentum going over our final five games? 2. Goaltender Ryan Artyomov is the only player on the roster under contract beyond Season 96, do you see big changes coming from the Phoenix in Season 97? 3. What's a song you really enjoy listening to, but might take flak for admitting to enjoying it? 4. What is your favorite mascot in all of sports? 5. Season 100 is just around the corner, how big of a deal do you think it will be for the VHL? 6. What's the most bizarre thing you've seen someone collect? 7. What unique skill do you possess? 8. What is your favorite aspect of being on the Phoenix? Velevra 312
1. Down to the final games of the regular season, the Chicago Phoenix are on the verge of locking up a playoff spot. What can we do to get momentum going over our final five games? I might pull a McDavid in the locker room and tell the team to DIG IN!! RIGHT NOW!! 2. Goaltender Ryan Artyomov is the only player on the roster under contract beyond Season 96, do you see big changes coming from the Phoenix in Season 97? I guess that will depend on Cole's vision for the future and what the market looks like. Think a lot of guys myself included are okay with re-signing on 1 season deals like we have done previously so I'm not personally worried. 3. What's a song you really enjoy listening to, but might take flak for admitting to enjoying it? Baby Shark doo doo doo doo, Baby Shark doo doo doo doo..... 4. What is your favorite mascot in all of sports? Gritty is pretty hilarious in my opinion! 5. Season 100 is just around the corner, how big of a deal do you think it will be for the VHL? A pretty amazing accomplishment that shows the great leadership the league has had over the years! 8. What is your favorite aspect of being on the Phoenix? Think we have a pretty chill and cool group of guys on the team which is awesome. No drama! It'll be huge, I hope a bunch of people come back and make the league active. Maybe the E will come back? 6. If we're talking bizarre like someone I know collecting things, I guess soda can tops. I don't know why they do it but who knows. 7. Unique? No clue. I guess I can type 140 WPM pretty consistently. 8. The team culture. I feel like we've got one of the most chill teams in the league.
