Welcome one and all to this season’s VSN hosted VHLM Awards! This season we had a tight competition throughout, with many different teams vying for regular season success. Five teams reached 100 points for the second time since the league expanded to 11 teams in Season 66 (though of course it has since expanded to 12 with the addition of the Miami Marauders last season), and seven different teams finished with 90 points, the most ever! Speaking of Miami, they finished on top of the league, earning them the Prime Minister’s Cup; impressive for a team only in their second season of existence! However, a storybook run was not to be for the first overall seed, as they were toppled in the finals by this season’s champions, congratulations to the Minnesota Storm

The road was long and hard, with many outstanding performances along the way. Here we recognize those performers who were best in their respective statistical categories. Congratulations to the regular season statistical awards winners! Well done.

Without further ado, here are the S73 VHLM Awards!

Top Defenceman Award "Ryan Sullivan Trophy"

It’s not often that a defenceman is so prolific that they lead multiple offensive categories, but this season was something special. To be that proficient on both ends of the ice is a sure sign of greatness, and one that was easily recognizable.

First, our runner up; with one vote, the Miami Marauder’s Matty Socks!

 :hou:
Now for our winner… With 140 points, 157 hits, 107 shots blocked, and eleven votes, the Houston Bull’s Riley Knight Gee!
Congratulations @KnightRiley!

Next up - Top Goaltender - Benoit Devereux Trophy!

Top Goaltender Award "Benoit Devereux Trophy"

It’s not easy to be a good goaltender. It’s especially not easy to be such a good goaltender that you can drag your team to the playoffs. It’s most certainly not easy to be such a consistently good goaltender that you win the award for top goaltender for two years in a row. It’s unbelievably challenging to do this with the best save percentage the VHLM has seen  in 23 seasons.

First, with 4 votes in their favor, our runner up: Ajay Krishna of the Ottawa Lynx!

:phi:
Now, there can only be one winner here; with eight votes for, John Poremba of the Philadelphia Reapers!
Congratulations @CrlineDijohn14!

Next up - Top Two Way Forward - Matt Bentz Trophy!

Top Two-Way Forward Award "Matt Bentz Trophy"

The Matt Bentz Trophy gives recognition to the grinders. The nitty gritty players that give as much as they get, putting out physical performance after physical performance, not just scoring goals but stopping them too. By being a defensive, offensive, and physical force, we recognize this league’s top two way forwards.

This season was one of the tightest margins between our nominees as we have seen in a long while, with three nominees receiving at least 3 votes.

WIth four votes, just one off the winner, this season’s runner up is Arthur Dayne of the Ottawa Lynx!

 :ott:
The winner of the Matt Bentz Trophy, with five votes, is the fantastic Jeremy Lin!
Congratulations @jman9theman9!
:ott:

Next up - Playoff MVP - Skylar Rift Trophy!

Playoff MVP Award "Skylar Rift Trophy"

The Skylar Rift Trophy designates the playoff performer that contributed most to their team’s postseason success. The decision was not easy, as it’s difficult to pinpoint a most valuable player when the stakes are so high. It requires not just strong performances, but the consistency to go ahead at every step of the way, carrying your team to greatness.

With three votes apiece, our runner ups are the goaltenders, Bacon and Calvin Harvey!

:osl:
Please welcome to the podium, with six votes, your Playoff MVP: Jer Lefebvre of the Minnesota Storm!
Congratulations @Jer_Lefebvre !

:osl:

Next up - Regular Season MVP - Mitch Higgins Trophy!

Regular Season MVP Award "Mitch Higgins Trophy"

This is never an easy award to decide, but it is even harder to win. Those players that achieve the most must sacrifice everything for their team, putting it all on the line to move forward with success. It is the ability to outperform your competition so completely that even your most vicious enemy has to recognize your greatness. At the end of the day, the Mitch Higgins goes to the one best player in the VHLM. Or, in this case, the two best players.

Your runner up, with two votes, Pietro Angellini!

Without further ado, with five votes apiece, the most valuable player of the regular season is both Riley Knight Gee and John Poremba! Congratulations @KnightRiley and @CrlineDijohn14!

Lastly - Top Executive - Jack Reilly Trophy!

Top Executive Award "Jack Reilly Trophy"

Always a tightly contested award, the Jack Reilly Trophy is meant to recognize the best executive in the VHLM; not an easy task. There is a variety of styles that a GM can have, and how does one distinguish which is most deserving? One thing is certain: The best GM’s can do it all; not just succeed at a high level, but do so in such a way that invites locker room stability and makes the VHLM a place that our community members can look back to fondly as they progress in their VHL careers. This season, all of our nominees were capable, but in the end, only one can be victorious.

First, our runner ups; with three votes apiece, Rayzor and Spartan!

 :mia:
Finally, your Season 73 Top Executive, for his fantastic work bringing an expansion team to the limelight in striking fashion, the Miami Marauders’ @Ricer13! Congratulations!

Once again, as the off-season continues, I sign off on the VHLM for another time. Thank you to both of our fantastic commissioners, @Sonnet and @diamond_ace who work to make this league a better place. Thank you to all our GM’s, our staff, and most of all, thank you, the community and players who come together to create such a wonderful place.

I have been your host Mr_Hatter, and on behalf of the whole VSN crew, thank you, and good night!
