  1. Victor may get some shit for his tenure here, but it was still a good run. Although this news did kind of come out of the blue here, but if you wanted to feel less obligated to the league and have some more free time to do whatever you please it makes sense. This has been the week of changes, what the hell else can we get changed around here before the week runs out?
  2. Don't you dare dis my intro music choices. It's so I have something to listen to when I verify the audio is working after I'm done since none of you are good enough to listen to it. It's either a joke song, or a song I actually like. Like in this case.
  3. Can tell your not his friend. All his homeboys call him Clint.
  4. http://www35.zippyshare.com/v/QdiTnjkN/file.html We lose a man but soldier on bravely. We make some bold or not so bold predictions for the playoffs, work on trying to be nicer to people we have wronged and Devise makes several grave mistakes. Also other stuff. Running under an hour as we try to keep these things nice and small now.
  5. I've been doing lines and negotiation with some GM's for trades and what have you since I joined Cologne. This move was made mostly because Romanes wants to be free of the burden and it just makes logical sense when I'm already doing some of the work a GM is required to do anyway. We'll see how it goes, I'll probably re-evaluate once Laich is done his 8 seasons. But thanks for your tenure as GM Romanes and for all the back n forth in terms of how we wanted to see the team go. Hopefully we can win a Championship with the team you built. The real question though? Whose next to step down as GM this season?
  6. Life with family is always a grind to maintain at a pace you'd like. Nobody blames you STZ. You built a great core here that Draper can hopefully go forward with and win a cup. Maybe just after Cologne wins one though please? Either way glad your still sticking around STZ and look forward to seeing what Draper can do at the helm.
  7. Yeah Big Buff played so much better as a forward imo.
  8. What bias homer commentators in Anaheim. That was clearly a completely legal check. Warranted no response other than to try and get your team rallied up/stick up for a teamate by Getz.
  9. I fucking love you! That callback by the way was fantastic, and yes that was the inspiration for the opening song choice.
  10. http://www64.zippyshare.com/v/5vxc2qsE/file.html We break out of the prison lockdown and decide to finally stop procrastinating and record an episode. We did this on Saturday morning by the way. We do our not really mid season mid season awards and add a few custom awards in there for laughs and to give more players some highlight. Spoiler alert, Frank and Kesler are dominating the league. Only running an hour, trying to keep it concise on this shit. But we are back now.
  11. The VHL's resident simmer, and town drunk has recently fell of the wagon so to speak. Normally the Saskatchewan native who manages center Naomi Young manages to handle a crazy lifestyle balance of farming, drinking, simming, and then drinking. In that order of course. However after several days of repeated failed sims, speculation occurred that our very own Jardy had made a drastic change in his life pattern. After speaking with a close relative of his, Billy Joel Bunclewirth we have learned that Jardy has in fact given up both farming and drinking. The man entrusted with ensuring the games are here and on time has apparently found the lord and savior Jesus Christ, had a child, and moved into the mountains swearing off all technology and most of the ways of current society. We'll have more on this shocking development as we continue to uncover hidden information about the drastic change in the life of Jardy.
  12. http://yahoo.thepostgame.com/blog/style-points/201501/nike-confirms-plans-release-famed-back-future-shoe-2015 Dear god the demand for these shoes is going to be extreme providing this story is legitimate. I'm so tempted to think about getting a pair, but I got to imagine pricing on it will be insane since they will likely only make a limited pair. Although probably more than they did in 2011.
  13. Returning this weekend. Enough "holiday" lazyness from me. I have a bunch of VHL things to do here this weekend and Jericho Chris and I want to try to "pound one out" here in the next couple days.
  14. Way to step up Sterling. League as a whole has been suffering from activity and interest since the Holiday break. Gotta get back into the swing of things in a big way here for sure.
  15. The European Conference race right now is tight, just like it was last season. Helsinki and Cologne both have 62 points while Riga has 61. All three teams have exchanged wins among each other and the race just like last season looks like it will go all the way to the end of the season. If you looked into the advanced statistics, it is likely that the Express could find themselves in first at the end of the season, with the bye again. Cologne currently leads the league in goals against, and has the highest goals for among all the teams in the European Conference. Futhermore, Cologne has the 3rd best power play in the league, best among the European Conference teams. They also have the best penalty kill in the league. While the Titans are averaging a few more shots on goal per game, Cologne gives up the fewest per game in the league. While anything can still happen, breaking down how teams have been playing overall throughout the season it looks like Cologne could squeak away just ahead of the other two. However the true story is going to be the playoffs. Helsinki, Riga and Cologne look to be exceptionally evenly matched this season. This could lead to one of the tightest playoff races in recent memory.
  16. I agree it was an awful penalty call, but let's not pretend the ride into the boards play by Nisky into Shaw was a penalty either. Shaw got away with like several things tonight as well, including a trip/interference on MoJo in the neutral zone. Also Hawks had a 5 on 3 in the second and couldn't convert. Nobody to blame but themselves. Caps out played the Hawks in that third imo and earned a win.
  17. Happy New Year to Everybody. Spending the night by myself probably going to finish watching the first season of True Detective. Ergo, any other night. But I echo the sentiments of Kendrick, be safe everyone!
  18. So they aren't going to medal again? Or? Or maybe they won't win gold like they haven't done in 5 years. It's good to see them get off on the right foot don't get me wrong, but nothing is won yet. As far as I'm concerned this group hasn't proved anything until they walk out with gold.
  19. Terrible decision by the Devils imo. It's the GM that is the issue with that team. DaBoer did a fine job with the assets he was given.
  20. In 2015 I will hit my fourth year of VHL activity. I joined the VHL all the way back in July of 2011. Because I can, and because this is the nature of a Fan590, I decided to just do some reflecting. While I'm hardly one of the oldest members here, it still feels strange to me to have seen so much come and go and so many years pass through. Logan Laich is my third player in the VHL and he is already over halfway done his career.I have gone from a very quiet new member to a three paragraph poster who was jokingly ignored to a prominent member of the BoG and someone who has had a crazy long running podcast series. Although I'm still mostly ignored, unless someone can blame me for something. But honestly the crazy thing about the VHL in my experiences isn't just all the changes. It's the things that have remained the same. Jardy has been simmer my entire time in the VHL. While I have seen an overhaul of a Commish team, the dedication the admins have had in preserving the integrity and quality of this league has remained impressive. Sterling in particular and his dedication to seeing this league live on and on has always been impressive. Never more so than when the previous site went down and work was done to get us up and running again. Some of the constant members over the last four years who have helped make this experience fantastic not just for me but for others has always been crazy. Members like Victor, Kendrick, Jericho, Advantage, STZ, Green, Frank. Even members who aren't around anymore, such as the Funks. These reflections just lead to me believe that there is few struggles the VHL won't power through. So for this holiday season I want every member of this league, whether you are getting barbie and ken dolls like Kesler or getting a glass of rum like Jardy to pat yourselves on the back. Through all the drama and the bullshit and the debating and the bickering we still make this an excellent site to be on.
  21. Indeed, it didn't make matters better. When I drink wine I normally stop if I finish a bottle, but drinking two bottles of wine and doing shots of brandy can do even a tolerant man like myself in.
  22. It's fitting because I got super tortured late last night. I started doing shots of brandy with some of the older newfies here. I regretted that decision early this morning as I got plenty sick. Jet lag and booze drinking never goes hand in hand, yet I seem to do it time after time..
