Daniel reacted to RisingWater in Teli Briadora - First Interview
by Tony Schefter / ********.com Staff Writer

From the depths of the legendary Rising Water Hockey School comes yet another magnificent defensive player, Teli Briadora. He comes from a blue collar family based in Thunder Bay, Ontario and his father was a legendary steel master at the local steel mill and even though he is still a blacksmith by trade, he is now retired and has been enjoying watching his son progress through the hockey ranks. In fact, Teli Briadora has been tough on the ice when it comes to being persistent, blocking shots and never giving up on a puck that he has earned himself the nickname "Thunder Steel" during his tenure in rising through AAA hockey and into the VHLM as he is preparing to enter the draft.

Throughout his career, Teli Briadora has gotten nothing easily. He has always faced doubts from his coaches as he is not the biggest point producer but rather a defensive jackhammer and a true force when it comes to keeping the puck in. He loves passing, he loves hitting and he loves skating faster than anyone else on the ice. Its no secret that Teli Briadora is a very one sided player but when a defenseman's one side is his defensive side, its hard not to look at him and see a shutdown player who nobody wants to play against. He will claw, he will scratch, he will push, he will pull, he will lift, he will rip and he will tear through anyone and anything in an attempt to keep the puck out of his own team's net. Former teammates have described Teli Briadora as being so passionate that his teammates have been quoted saying that they think that he might hate getting scored on more than goaltenders do. And that's saying something about how serious this young man is about keeping pucks on the good side of his own goal line.
"My greatest strengths definitely lie in skating and puck possession, no doubt about it", Teli Briadora said. "Its not about scoring points for me, its about keeping the puck in and trying to stop offense at the blue line." When asked I Briadora about what his weaknesses might be, he had just as little doubt about those as well. "Oh, my scoring and passing are definitely not my strong suits", Briadora said. "I know I have to improve my passing and I know I have a decent shot but I don't like to utilize it. Its a hard shot but not an accurate shot. I miss the net a lot so I don't shoot a lot."

When it comes to winning games, nobody likes winning more than Teli Briadora. The man is an animal when it comes to winning and he when his AAA team coach an incident involving a broken hand, it was Teli Briadora who stepped up as coach for a day while his team coach was in the hospital. He was basically his team's coach in the most important practice skate of their careers, the skate that took place the day before a game 7. Briadora's team won that game and ended up winning the championship with Teli Briadora as their captain. It was a miraculous run and Teli Briadora wants more runs like that, just in the VHLM and VHL. "I want big wins in the big leagues", Teli Briadora said and refused to elaborate any further. And it wasn't necessary, his message was clear: He wants to be a shutdown defenseman in the big leagues and he wants to win the big games no matter what team he is playing for. Look out for the Teli Briadora, he is coming with a lot of defensive prowess. The water levels have just begun to rise in the VHL and it'll be interesting to see if anyone's capable of closing the flood gates any time soon.

Gave it a big old push this weekend, went on a two day ket bender up until 9am each day, did a DJ set at a house party, partied with a lot of different people and had a generally good time, the boys are out again tonight but I'm calling in a quiet one. Also got my face painted sick style

    GREG CLEGANE

One of the finest goaltenders of this generation had a harder time than expected at the S51 All Star Game representing Team Der Meister, allowing 3 goals on the 11 shots he faced, giving the Legion backstop a save percentage of 0.727, a far cry from his league leading 0.940 this season when representing Toronto. Who knows what contributing factors may have harmed his performance here, but it was undoubtedly a very out of character performance from Clegane at the ASG this season.

    ARIEL WEINSTEIN

Calgary Wranglers goalie Ariel Weinstein has arguably been the second best goaltender in the league this season behind Clegane, but unlike Clegane he was also able to give a good account of himself playing in the All Star Game. Representing Team Der Meister, he saved 14 of the 15 shots he faced, giving him a save percentage of 0.933, the best of the bunch. Who knows whether the superior performance as teammates in this game will give Weinstein a bit of a psychological boost over Clegane in the near future as their teams shape up as potential playoff rivals, but for the time being it could make for an interesting storyline.

    ATTICUS VON BRAXTON

Cologne Express goaltender Atticus Von Braxton has struggled to find form since finding himself shipped off to Germany in a trade earlier this season, but the still young AVB was able to give a good account of himself in the All Star Game, saving 11 of 12 shots faced, good enough for a save percentage of 0.917. Putting up such a strong performance in a game like this and outplaying some of his contemporaries regarded to be stronger by some might just be the confidence boost that AVB needs to reignite his performances and make the Express a dark horse in the S51 post season.

    SANDRO CLEGANE

The backbone of a very competitive Riga Reign team this season, Clegane didn't disgrace himself at the All Star Game, saving 7 shots out of a possible 8 for a save percentage of 0.875. Maybe if he'd had a bigger sample size of more shots to stop he may have really come into his own a bit more, but Clegane was far from the worst of the bunch this time around.

    JAKAB HOLIK

Holik has struggled with consistency so far in his career, and although he looks to be showing some real promise and improvement in S51, his performance at the All Star Game will definitely be one that leaves him disappointed. Allowing 2 goals on only 5 shots faced left him with a save percentage of 0.600, the worst of the night. Hopefully Holik will be able to move on from a tough night and put his best foot forward when it comes to leading the Bears on a postseason charge.

    DMITRI DADONOV

Back with the team to which he was originally drafted in the Quebec City Meute after his departure from Helsinki, the young Dadonov has done a good job so far in his career of performing above the level expected of him. Although far from great at this year's All Star Game, he made 9 saves on the 11 shots faced for a middle of the pack save percentage of 0.818 in his third ASG. S52 is the season Dadonov will look to establish himself as one of the league's elite goalies, so being able to run with the big boys at the ASG should give him a little added confidence as this season plays out.

Daniel got a reaction from BOOM in Damn Daniel back at it again with the Quebec thing
It's very late on Sunday night and I find myself one TPE away from being able to get my Agility up to 90 so the way I see it there's only one thing for it. Got traded away from Helsinki back to Quebec this week, never actually played a game for them but had a real fun time in the LR that first season and Frank is one hell of a boy so if I had to be moved I'm glad it was to there, also very pleased me and boom stayed together. I wasn't really sure whether or not Higgins would keep the core of Helsinki together but with Gow intending on testing free agency I guess it made more sense for him to ship us out and start anew. I won't go into how my shortcomings were probably to blame for that tough call he had to make (for my own sanity if not for anything else), but yeah it feels strange to be on a new team when a month ago I was still GMing Helsinki, but it's for the best and with Dadonov now starting to enter his prime, I'm excited to see what kind of a go he can have at it this season and next with the Meute.
