ThePerfectNut reacted to Elmebeck in Elmebeck having one too many on draft night, or was it draught night? Wilcox in tow
Elmebeck was picked 9th, perhaps a few places earlier than predicted when most expected him at most at 16th to 12th, some teams may have hoped to pick him up in the second round, but @GustavMattias (prediction come true) correctly anticipated the young Swede's position in the draft.

While Hockey News at this time only have second hand reports and photos that can't be tied to this night, apparently Elmebeck and @Dalton Wilcox got loaded at a bar in Brooklyn, then ordering "PIZZA FOR EVERYONE!" at the local street, until Elmebeck ended up at a local late night tattoo artist and got the New York Americans logo on to his chest. It is unbeknownst where Wilcox ended up at the end of the night.

Elmebeck on a wild night out after a great draft night, and then some. Allegedly.

@Esso2264 and @Jtv123 did not return calls to comment.

The draft for New York Americans, and the trades made ahead of it seems to have landed them in a pretty good spot, with Flowers @CowboyinAmerica taken in 2nd, Eller @Ace in 6th, Guy @.sniffuM and Elemebeck in 8th and 9th, Nolan @studentized in 13th, Sage @AcousticKazoo in 16th, a possible steal with Grim @aCrypticPancake in 22nd, and li @Donno100 and Walker @hewasajazzman in 33rd and 35th respectively. Late picks that may exceed their position in the draft may be Martell @Shaka at 45th and Bud Knight @Dilly Dilly in 53rd.

Included in that was the trade for Wilcox @Dalton Wilcox which was negotiated with Prague after being picked up from Malmö in the expansion draft.

It does seem like the Americans are on a good path for the future.

    Pizza for everyone.

Since @Esso2264, the new GM of the New York Americans, stepped in. He completely blew the team apart for a bright future in this city. Of course as everyone knows, the previous GM already tried to blew it up, but it didn't work successfully. As the result, NY fans wasn't really happy about the idea of rebuilding YET AGAIN and were really sad to see stars players like Dan Wilinsky, Ismond Kingfisher, Joseph McWolf and Leph Twinger leave the franchise. Fortunately, all the new rookies in NY are having quite a really good season and that made the fans quite enthusiastic for the future. Who are these rookies that are making a great impact in this market? Which is the biggest in humankind.

    1. Boris the Forest (@chillzone)
Boris was drafted by New York this past season. He was from the Mexico City Kings VHLM team and had 66 pts in his first year with 9 game winning goals. That was enough to being picked 10th overall in the VHL draft in S67. As of right now, Boris is having an amazing ROTY race after being in the back of the group at the start of the year. He has 48 pts in 60 games played and has been a big factor all around in NY. People expect him to become the #1 center in NY and maybe become a future star in this league. He has a really good offensive IQ AND defensive IQ. A center that can score, pass and is willing to block shots. Which makes him the perfect all around center, but he needs to work on his physical games if he wants to become the best one day. His own destiny is right in his hands now.

    2. Walter Clements (@cpetrella)
Walter is the rookie who would have the most experience in Hockey compared to the other rookies. Indeed, he has been playing 3 seasons in the VHLM, which is a lot. On his last year, he has been an amazing passer and presence for the Reapers VHLM team. He did have 80 pts and posted an amazing playoff run last year with 19 pts in 14 games with 3 winning playoff goals, but he was only drafted 55th overall before that amazing season unfortunately. Walter is a 6'8 and 250lb center man and fans expect him to fill perfectly on that second line role, which is to become a huge factor in defense and somewhat lay off some pressure on Boris (A Jonathan Toews). He hasn't been available to fill in those defensive shoes, but he has been getting some pts which is always good to have. Hopefully he can fill in those shoes later on.

    3. Aleksander Rodriguez
Out of all the rookies in NY, Aleksander Rodriguez may have the potentiel to become a superstar in this league. Born in NY, but lived most of his life in Mexico. He played hockey at an older age, but got an offer to sign for a VHLM team. The first year he had 59 pts which was expected from him in Ottawa and then he was drafted in the VHLM AND the VHL draft in the same year. He was drafted 2nd overall by the Mexico City Kings and 24th overall by Riga, which is pretty amazing if you think about it. Rodriguez had 90 pts in Mexico with 10 winning goals. In this season, he has been adapting his game which reflects his 38 pts, but he is still a top 7 rookies this year. Rodriguez is an amazing all around player and isn't really weak in one specific area. Fans sees him as one of the best players in the game later in his career and may may be the clutchest player alive. He did won WJC for USA, which they have been struggling for years with it

    4. Nethila Dissanayake (@nethi99)
Nethila is one of the rookies that we aren't really sure what will he become, neither do fans knows. He was drafted in S66 and had an amazing S65 season with Saskatoon having 74 pts in 72 games, but followed up with only 51 pts the next season in the VHLM. He wasn't having an amazing  playoff performance in those two years, but he is making the team be better just from his presence. His future is really unclear in some people eyes and that is completely reasonable to think about it. Stephen A.Smith said on his show that he has the potential to become an important piece to a team success, but might as well not work out as we thought he would. Fortunately, his players believes in him and Nethila is the rookie with the most determination and work ethic between all of them. Indeed, he will be a VERY interesting player to watch growing during his career.

     5. ACL Tear
Everyone knows who is ACL Tear. Unless you want you're life to be miserable from now on. One of the monster in the VHL who strikes fear in his opponents eyes and no one dares to go against him. The thing special with ACL is that he can get pts as well, which is rare for pure enforcers like him. ACL will become big depth player for NY and especially in the playoff. He could become one of the best enforcers in VHL history and get a couple of cups under his belt. Btw, expect him to be in the WWE after his retirement. Nothing else to be said here.

    6. Blake Laughton (@Grape)
Blake played 2 years in the VHLM. The first one was a horrible year and I can't even mentions those stats, but the one after that. Yikes, 80 pts in 72 game played with OTT and having a +/- of 41, yes 41. He lead his team to the finals, but he came just short. Blake is a versatile player who can shoot, hit and block shots for a winger, but he takes a lot of penalty. Fans expect him to contend to be one of the best two way forward each season once he adapts to the VHL, even though he will probably play 2nd line ice time during his career in NY. Those kind of players are what every teams wants in his squad and NY is really happy to have him on board. We just need to believe that he can fill in those shoes whenever he is ready. He has 33 pts in the VHL at the moment, which is really good for a rookie on the third line for a rebuilding team. The new Matt Thompson is incoming?

Honorable Mentions: Guy LeGrande (@Steve) has been traded to NY during the season and is currently the only visible defense men prospect that we have on the team. We don't have that much information about him yet, but we expect him to become the #1 or #2 defense men on the team in his career and probably become one of the better offensive d-men in the league. A lot lays on his shoulders.

Same thing for Kolur Bjoernsson (@jblock3). We hope he becomes a good starting goaltender in the league and get decent numbers for the team success.

To conclude, NY has a bunch of picks for the next 2 years and it seems that the draft is really good defense wise next year and forwards wise after that. This will be a great chance to Esso to show off his drafting skills. He has the team destiny in his hand and has the power to contruct the team that he desires.

I come from an expansion team.

Granted, it was a VHLM expansion team and being my first year in the league I had no idea what I was doing. But it was an expansion team nonetheless, and it put me in a position to excel and prove myself in a league so overwhelmed with top-end talent so much that even when starved for TPE, I felt like I was making an impact. Today I hold two "Firsts" on @Nykonax's Mexico City Kings, both somewhat pentalty-minute related, but even those made me feel like there was something special about my player. Like I made a difference in something big and substantial.

In their first season in the VHLM, the Mexico City Kings went 24-25-0, good for 5th in the league with a single high-skilled player in Aleksander Rodriguez @Jtv123 to show us the way. They were soon joined by not only me, but now-league-mainstay and AGM of the Kings, Michael Gary Scott @Motzaburger, of whom I'm very proud to call a close friend. Michael was also new to the league, but soon found himself under the wing of veteran members who encouraged his strengths in graphic design. He's made an immense impact in a short time, and I can say without a doubt that both our successes have been the result of being nurtured and given the opportunity to succeed.

Had I come into the league pre-expansion, even one season earlier, I'd have been courted by a mere nine teams, not the present eleven. This would have lead to reduced minutes, reduced opportunities, but also reduced focus. I may not have been as encouraged to grow and improve, and as a result, may not have been as engaged as I have been to date. Instead, I've had the opoprtunity to make friends, build relationships, and stand out in the VHLM, the WJC, and now the VHL. I've been drafted into what projects to be a superteam in a few seasons due to the hard work of @Banackock. None of this would have happened if I hadn't been given that opportunity to shine with the Kings.

There are concerns with the expansion, as there always are when these decisions come to pass. Dilusion of talent between more teams. Slippery slope arguments concerning continued expansions. Fantasy draft (which are a terrible idea btw @Quik - don't take away that which the GM's have put so much work into building). But at the heart of it all, you're giving new players the opportunity to succeed, and oportunity which may not have been there had they been buried in third-line minutes. As the recruitment team does their job, the number of members in the league is going to continue to grow, and we'd better be willing to give them the same opportunities that were given to us.

I owe my success to an expansion, and I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't extend the same possibility to new members. Let's give this a shot everyone.

Scott is the ultimate leader from Krypton military. He doesn't need stats to win! He's a natural leader who doesn't points to be useful.

It's true that R.Funk is doing pretty good for a goalie perspective, but I feel like B.Gaudette and one from the trio in NY (the 3 of them are top 5 in rookies stats excluding R.Funk lol). B.Gaudette is having an amazing rookie year with Malmo (he fell off the last 3 games tho) and I believe he's only playing second line probably. As for NY, the roster is straight up garbage with 2 Players under 450 TPE, so those 3 rookies who are carrying a market like NY in there first season should have a strong case as well.

BUT I WILL SAY THIS, R.Funk is without a question in the range Top 1-3 for rookies if he keeps it up.

Riga, Latvia - Few expected Riga to be fighting for their playoff lives at this point in the season.

With what seemed like a promising roster that would only get better as the season went on, the Reign had a strong case to repeat their regular season performance from S66. And with the HC Davos Dynamo trading away many of their established players, it seemed natural that hedgehog and the Riga team would cruise easily into second or third place in the conference. 34 games into the season, Riga sits at 17-15-2 - good for 36 points, and only 5 from being removed from playoff contention. It's unclear as to what exactly is causing the issues - as talent would suggest the Reign should be doing better - but it may simply be the roster undergoing growing pains.

"We should be doing better," remarked second-year defenseman Apollo Hackett. "The teams above us have great rosters -- don't get me wrong -- but I think we're at least as good as a few of the teams ahead of us in the standings. We just have to translate that feeling to the ice; I trust management to do the rest. Our defense is great, and that comes from both us defensemen and the forwards both; our defensive pairs just have to make sure that we're carrying our weight and feeding forwards, too."

To New York Americans fans everywhere,

We all knew this day may come and after the recent moves in front office and in player personnel, it was more and more likely to happen. This doesn't make it any easier to write this, even though I've written it out in my head dozens of times since I was told before the season I'd likely be moved.

I originally came here in S63 with my VHLM teammate Joseph McWolf shortly after winning the Founders Cup in Ottawa. We had no idea what we were in for, we were just a couple of fresh faces kids going to a team at the beginning of a complete teardown and rebuild. We were the envy of the league as one of the up and coming squads in the VHL, with solid goaltending, one of the best young d-men out there and enough talent up front to scare teams about what we'd turn into.

We added lots of talented pieces over the next few seasons as we attempted to climb into the elite of the league. Guys like Joel Ylonen, Carles Puigdemont and Ryan Sullivan Jr gave us a deadly attack and when we signed Leph Twinger, we all thought we had the last piece we needed to challenge the big boys.

After all that potential was building, it started to become too much pressure for some guys and we seemed to level out and never get any higher.

It's a real shame we never got to see that squad grow into the potential we originally had and ultimately as we hit the middle part of our careers it became apparent a shake up was needed.

One by one my long time teammates were either traded or released until it was just me and Carles. I was asked if I had any preference where I wanted to go. I originally said I'd prefer to stay and try to lead the American back into the forefront, but that I would do anything to help the team out and accept a trade that made sense for everyone.

As the games rolled on I knew my day was coming and I tried to give my best and beyond every night. I've never been a flashy player or one of the best out there, but I have always tried to be the hardest worker and tough to play against. For some reason this year, I've seemed to get more lucky bounces and have been getting on the scoresheet more often than in years past. Hopefully this will give all you fans something to remember me by.

Thank you to every fan that came to the rink every night and cheered us on win or lose, I'll never forget you. You've all made this such a fun place to play and I still hope to one day bring the Cup back here because New York is where my heart is.

To my new fans in Helsinki, hopefully you can all read English, cause I don't know a lick of Finnish or whatever you speak over there. I'm looking forward to the next few years we will have together, you've already got such a good hockey team and I hope I can add to that bring another Continental Cup across the pond.

It's incredible the work the staff has done here bringing in all these amazing players and somehow being able to have them all gel so well. Plus somehow being able to pay them all!

Helsinki has always intrigued me, since I was interviewed before my draft by your current GM. Although I didn't end up here from the beginning, hopes I can prove that I'm worth the ransom that was paid for me come here. I've played with several of these guys in the past for team Canada among other places and I think we will find chemistry very quickly.

I haven't had much success in the playoffs but as David Price once said, "I was saving all my post season wins for the Red Sox. "

Here's to the future and winning several Continental Cups!
